Todays Nigeria reports: Well every country has money, some more, some less but it's not really about who has more money, it's about how the country utilizes it's money. Reading this list might make some of us disappointed cause there's nothingto show for it. Africa is one of the largest continents in the world and the home to 53 nation states. Although regarded as the poorest continent, there are some progressing economies in Africa which are quite wealthy. Here is the list of top ten 10 richest nationsor countries in Africa with respect to Gross Domestic Product (Purchasing Power Parity). Interestingly, African Americans spend $960 billion in the US with a projected growth to $1.2 trillion by 2012. If regarded as a nation-state African Americans would representthe 14th largest economy in the world, and the largest nation on the African continent. 1. Egypt: The country has a highly developed economy, and she is the first richest country in Africa having 467,600 dollars GDP (PPP). GDP (Nominal) per capita of Egypt is 187.956 billion dollars in 2009, estimated by IMF. Egypt has a developed energy market based on coal, oil, natural gas, and hydro power. Egypt has huge reservesof gas, estimated at 1,940 cubic kilometers, and LNG is exported to many countries. 2. South Africais the second richest country of Africa and is ranked 25th in the world in terms of GDP (PPP) as of 2009. GDP (PPP) of South Africais 403,900 dollars while GDP per capita is 227.379 billion dollars. South Africais the largest energy producer and consumer on the continent. The country is also a popular tourist destination, and a substantial amount of revenue comes from tourism. Among the main attractions are the diverse and picturesque culture, the game reservesand the highly regarded local wines. 3. Nigeria is the third richest country of Africa continent having $ 294,800 billions GDP compared on purchasing power parity GDP per capita of Nigeria is 165.437 billion dollars with growing population. Nigeria is currently the 50th largest export market for U.S goods and the 14th largest exporter of goods to the U.S. Nigeria used part of itsoil profits to pay the residual 40% freeing up at least $ 1.15 billion annually for poverty reduction programs. 4. Algeria is the fourth richest country of Africa having $ 268,900 dollars GDP (PPP) while GDP per capita of Algeria is 134.797 billion dollars estimated by IMF in 2009. The fossil fuels energy sectoris the backbone of Algeria’s economy, accounting for roughly 60% of budget revenues, 30% of GDP, and over 95% of export earnings. The country ranks fourteenth in petroleum reserves, containing 11.B billion barrels of proven oil reserves with estimates suggesting that the actual amount is even more. 5. Morocco is the fifth richest countryof Africa continent having $ 127,000 GDP (Purchasing Power parity) in her account whereas GDP per capita is 90.775 billion dollars in 2009. Morocco is the world’s third-largest producer of phosphorus and the price fluctuations of phosphates on the international market greatly influence economy. In the Arab World, Morocco has the second-largest non-oil GDP, behind Egypt. 6. Angola is one of the fastest growing economy in the world. The country is the sixth richest country of Africa having 93,100 dollars GDP compared on purchasing power parity. The GDP per capita of Angola is 69.708 billion dollars. Anti-corruption watchdog Transparency internationalrated Angola one of the 10 most corrupt countries in the world. Oil production from Angola now is china’s biggest supplier of oil. 7. Libya is the seventh richest nation in Africa having 90,600 dollars GDP (purchasing power parity) while GDP per capita of Libya is 60.609 billion dollars. Today, high oil revenues and a small population give Libya one of the highest GDPS per person in Africa. The world Banks defines Libya as an “Upper Middle Economy” along with only seven other African countries. 8. Sudan is the eight richest countryin Africa having 80,500 dollars GDP (PPP) whereas GDP per capita of Sudan is 54,294 billion dollars. Currently oil is Sudan’s main export, and the production is increasing dramatically. Agriculture production remains Sudan’s most important sector, employing 80% of the workforce and contributing 39% of GDP. 9. Tunisia: In 2008 Tunisia had a GDP of $ 41 billion (official exchange rates) or $ 82 billion on measured purchasing power parity. It also has one of Africa and the Middle East’s highest per capita GDP (PPP) having 76,900 dollars. Tunisia was the first Mediterranean countryto sign an association agreement with the European Union. The Agricultural Sector stands for 11.6% of the GDP, industry 25.7% and services 62.8%. 10. Ethiopia has the biggest economy in east Africa (GDP) as the Ethiopian economy is also one of the fastest growing in the world. GDP (PPP) of Ethiopia is 61,600 dollars and GDP per capita is 33.920 billion Agriculture accounts for almost 41 per cent of the gross domestic product (GDP), 80% of export, and 80% of the labour force. Ethiopia is Africa’s second biggest maize producer. |
THE FIRST FAMILY TO TAKE THE MARK OF THE BEAST...SOURCE...CBS NEWS Monday April 22, 8:27 am Eastern Time Press Release SOURCE: Applied Digital Solutions VeriChip's National Rollout Begins in Palm Beach County, Florida Jacobs Family ``Gets Chipped'' A procedure that takes only seconds to carry out has turned the Jacobs family into pioneers, reports CBS News Correspondent Bobbi Harley. They are the firstpeople to get "chipped" -- implanted with a tiny device called a VeriChip that emits radio frequencies. "It's been really easy and I feel a lot better that I have it," he said after the implant. The chips were designed by Palm Beach-based Applied Digital Solutions Inc. They are similar to chips implanted in pets to identify them if they are lost. A hand-held scanner reads the VeriChip. Theoretically, police, paramedics and hospital workers would use the information during an emergency. At a cost of $200a chip, thousands of Americans are already lining up to get them. And, Applied Digital Solutions says this might only be the beginning. The chip, which could also be used as a security tool, has stirred debate over its potential use as a "Big Brother" device to track people or invade the privacy of their homes or workplaces. Jacobs and his family brush aside those arguments. Anyone can be tracked through the Internetand e-mail, credit cards and cellular phones, they say. Losing a little personal privacy is a small price to pay. BEWARE! The Micro-Chip will LEAD to the Mark of the Beast foundin the Book of Revelation Chap. 13:16-18 and Chap. 14:9-11 (KJV). Excerpts from my 1999 thesis on Mary and the Queen of Heaven culled from "The Mystery Babylonian Religion" Historical research has proved that the belief in ancient Babylonian concept of ghosts informs present Roman Catholic teachings about strange appearances, apparitions and visions of Mary. This belief in ghost-saints originated from the ancient Babylon’s religious doctrine in Semiramis, the ‘Queen of Heaven’, who was said to be appearing in different locations and shapes. Similar to the Catholic veneration of Mary is the Babylonian belief in Semiramis, wife and mother of Nimrod, who taught that living or dead, she was in control of peoples’ lives and could petition the Sun god on their behalf. This is also the origin of goddesses like Venus, Diana, Isis, Madonna and the rest. It started from from ancient Babylonian origins in a certain Roman Cult of Isis, which worshipped a mother goddess with her infant son, Horus. Isis, they believed, played a prominent role as protector of the sailors at sea, and her image was carried as emblem of several Roman ships. It was the importation of this belief into the Church that prompted the imaging of the Mother Mary carrying her little vulnerable son in her arms. That is why Jesus is usually pictured as a boy in the arms of Mary. The origin is in the story of Tammuz’s death, which resulted in great grief and sorrow to his mother. Variation of the story involving Semiramis and Tammuz later resulted in a story concerning Tammuz and Ishtar (another representation of Semiramis), who were said to be mother and son. Semiramis went into the world of the dead in pursuit of her son, Tammuz, who was killed by the god of Death, in order to bear him in her arms back, while the women of Babylonia mourned. This later became a religious practice and was highlighted in a heathen practice in the Hebrew Temple recorded and condemned in Ezekiel 8: 14. Ancient Babylonians ascribed the period of disappearance of vegetation to that which the son of Semiramis descended into the under world after death. By weeping for Tammuz, the cult of Babylon believed that vegetation would be restored, as the god would appear once again from the land of the dead. Other doctrines around the Queen of Heaven, which later were adopted to fit into the Roman Catholic concept of the Virgin Mary include dogmas of the immaculate conception, her sinless nature, her motherhood of the Church, eucharistic devotion and her assumption into the heavens. As history has it, these became Catholic practice because several places that were used in worship of the female deities before the declaration of Constantine in Rome were just converted into Christian worship. Examples of early churches that were directly converted from worship of Roman gods include Santa Maria Antiqua church in Rome and Santa Maria church in Aracodi built on the Capitol Hill where a celestial-virgin Carthaginian goddess, Tanit used to have her Temple. The Santa Maria Maggiore Church of Esquline was also built on the same site of the Temple of Cybele, who was regarded by the Romans as the mother of all the gods. Veneration of the mother goddess imported from the Babylonian Cult was common in Roman religious cults at the time Constantine changed the religion of Rome to Christianity. There was also Juno, the Roman goddess, who they believed played the dual role of protecting pregnant women and guardian of cities and was referred to as ‘Our Lady’. Athena Polias was another goddess usually referred to by that title. These particular conceptions of female goddesses later came to represent the Virgin Mary after all Rome compulsorily became Christian with the mandatory edict of Constantine to convert all Romans to Christianity. Worship of Mary is a rallying point for several religions because it is in consonance, not only with the Catholic/Roman/Babylonian origins, but also with several Oriental, Asian, Middle East, African and ancient European religious practices. Traces of this religion of Semiramis exist in religions of more than five billion out of the Earth's current population of over six billion. The Hindu religion, which has almost a billion adherents, venerates the goddess called Santhana-Lakshmi. The representation of this goddess is symbolism of a mother and child, just like the Roman Catholic depictions of Mary and the Boy Jesus. There are similar stories in Yoruba tradition of Olurombi and Moremi, whose sons were taken away to the world of the dead and who followed to bring them back. The use of the rosary in Christianity which started in the 11th Century was systematically developed by St. Dominic in devotion to Mary as a substitute for Diana, for whose worship the stringed instrument of worship was initially used. It soon become widespread and took the form in which we now know it as comprising the recitation of prayer and meditation on ‘fifteen mysteries’. But the rosary is not unique to Catholics alone. Another type is used by the Ifa religion in the Yoruba speaking areas of West Africa. In a similar way by which it was absorbed into Catholic worship, practice of praying with beaded strings was also imported into some Latin American religious worship. History reveals that migrant slaves from West Africa to Brazil, Cuba and other Latin American countries took pagan beaded strings along with them for divination when they were sold off to work on the cotton and sugarcane fields of America. The Indians of America too earlier used a type of rosary in stringed bones for divination. Worship or veneration of a Mother goddess was prominent in Israel at stages of their backslidding from true worship of Yaweh. When the high places built right inside the Temple in Bethel was excavated, archeologists found figurines of Ashteroth described as semi or totally nude female with a dull look on her face. The same types of figures and figurines are now used to depict the ‘Virgin Mary’ in statues or statuettes in the Catholic Church, only now with flowing robes, not nude, but the facial expression remains the same. Ashteroth was to the ancient Babylonian Cult what ‘Virgin Mary’ is to the Catholics. Both are none other than different representations of Semiramis. Regarded as female gender of God, the goddess, Ashteroth, was bowed down to, worshipped and prayed through as the ‘mother of God’ as is currently practiced in Roman Catholicism and other religions. Moslems too later on adopted the use of stringed beads for praying from these same origins. Does it come as a surprise that Franciscan University, Steubenville, Ohio Professor, Mark Miravalle, who died in 2004 before realizing his dreams, was at the core of a revolutionary demand by several Catholics to enthrone the Virgin Mary as the third or fourth person in the Godhead? (If you don't believe, you can google www.fifthmariandogma.com/co-redemptrix-fifth-marian-dogma/you-must-petition-the-holy-father-for-this-dogma-2/). The professor solicited and received signed petitions asking late Pope John Paul II to exercise his absolute power to proclaim a new and highly debated Catholic dogma declaring their Mary as co-redeemer and partner in the order of Godhead with Jesus, the Father and Holy Spirit. The move, which started about 1997, generated more than 6 million signatures from Catholics from over 148 countries all over the world, including at least 600 Bishops, 42 Cardinals (current and deceased) and also from Mother Theresa before her demise. Many cardinals in the Vatican are also ardent supporters of the move. It is not a completely new move. As far back as the 14th century, Catholics, including popes and cardinals, have touted the belief in Mary at par or even superior to Christ. New church dogmas surfaced to the effect that Mary did not taste corruption after death, but was physically transported to heaven body, soul and spirit and that she was born in a nature of immaculate conception and never was contaminated by Original Sin. Many popes, including late John Paul II and Pope Benedict are staunch believers in the worship of Mary. Of course, as a Fransiscan priest, Pope Benedict also believes in the Marian doctrines. Over the Catholic faithful, popes are credited with the same powers that belong to Christ with absolute authority over the Church as the Vicar of Christ on Earth. It would, therefore, not be impossible for a pope to declare Mary as part of the Godhead. Late Pope John Paul II was a staunch believer in the Virgin Mary, because he believed she delivered him from death through the bullet of Ali Agca, and the world from the scourge of Communism. He claimed every nation he visited, kissing the soil in consecration and worship to the “Blessed Mother”. He said that he visited Fatima, Portugal on May 13, 1983 to consecrate the whole world to the 'Immaculate Heart of Mary'. The mysterious ancient Babylonian religion involved the worship of father, mother and son gods as represented by Nimrod, Semiramis and Tammuz. Declaration of Mary as part of the Godhead would therefore be a full reincarnation of the old Babylonian religion, revealing the Mystery Babylon of Revelation chapter 17. We would notice that most of the statues and statuettes of the ‘Virgin Mary’ used in Catholic worship have this sad look. Even the apparitions seen of Mary have always worn the sad look, while in some others the ‘Virgin’ is seen shedding tears of blood. Why would Mary be so sad? After all, her Son has been resurrected and raised into glory and she is believed to have ascended to Heaven. The answer is simple; because the Virgin Mary of Catholics is not the real Mary, the mother of Jesus. The Catholic Mary is actually Semiramis, weeping for her son Tammuz; a creation of the Cult of Babel. Many Catholic apologists who defend the Marian doctrines are unaware that even the Vatican II document admits that the worship of Mary is not a scriptural practice, but a tradition recommended by the church authorities as developed over the centuries. But the document yet backs the practice so vehemently that it teaches that it should be generously fostered. Similar to ancient Babylonian religion, the Catholic doctrine claims that Mary, being the mother of Jesus is even as important as, if not more important than Jesus Christ, Himself. It claims also that she is in Heaven making intercessions for people of the world, so Christians should pray through her. But, is Mary Blessed? The Bible says, “And it came to pass, as He spoke these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto Him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked. “But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the Word of God, and keep it”. Luke 11: 27 – 28 The angel called Mary blessed in Luke 1: 28, referring to her being favored among women as to be chosen to bear the Lord, called the Son of the Highest. Jesus replied to indicate that Mary remains blessed, only because she believed in the spiritual work of her Son and Lord, and accepted it. Mary was one of the disciples of Jesus. As the above scripture states, Mary is blessed. But if she had not believed in Christ, she would not have remained blessed. So, the scripture also concludes, are blessed, all those who "hear the Word of God, and keep it". HolyHolla |

Let me conclude my contributions to this topic with an excerpt from my 1999 thesis on Mystery Babylon and the Catholic Church. Origins of the Catholic Purgatory: The ancient Babylonian concept of a good-evil God informs the idea of Purgatory, which is one of the bedrock doctrines of the Catholic Church. As they claim that every person must suffer for his sins, God, according to the Catholics, has made available both Hell and Paradise for each soul. At death, a soul proceeds directly to Hell (otherwise known as Purgatory by Roman Catholics) and after due sufferings or alternate payments he is released to proceed to Paradise. The mystery of suffering for expatiation of sin is a deep Catholic doctrine. Penance, the Catholics believe, is also made through individual suffering for sin here on earth to avoid the suffering of Paradise. There are two ways by which Catholics believe that this penance must be self-paid by any individual so as to be acceptable before God. One is to freely make reparation through personal punishments here on earth and the other is to accept such punishment as coming from God's just and holy wisdom. What is the real origin of this doctrine? Ancient Babylonians believed that their major deity, the Sun god, had two different sides: the beneficent and the destructive. On the one side, he gives light and warmth and on the other he employs fierce heat of the summer to destroy vegetation. It was therefore necessary to sacrifice to him through dedication and burning alive of first-born children. (In very fundamental and conservative traditionally Catholic areas of the world like Ireland today, firstborns are still dedicated to become Catholic priests. These people believe that the sacrificing of their firstborn sons to the Catholic Church would bring their families prosperity.) The doctrine stems from belief in worship of the Queen of Heaven from ancient Babylonian, who was adapted by Catholic church as the ‘Virgin Mary' and her relationship with the ‘Boy Jesus'. It was first adopted by a certain Roman Cult of Isis, which worshipped a mother goddess with her infant son, Horus. This cult had also been popular in Egypt. It was the importation of this belief into the church that also prompted the imaging of the Mother Mary carrying her little vulnerable son, 'Jesus', in her arms. Have you ever wondered why it is that usually, Jesus is a boy in the arms of Mary and hardly ever pictured in Catholic books as an adult? Could that be the real concept of the Christ that we know from scriptures? Is it not actually meant to put Jesus as an infant at the perpetual favor of His mother? The origin is in the ancient Babylonian story of Tammuz's infantile death, which resulted in great grief and sorrow to his mother, Semiramis. Tammuz in Babylon was god of vegetation. Variation of the story involving Semiramis and Tammuz later resulted in a story concerning Tammuz and Ishtar (another representation of Semiramis), who were said to be mother and child. The story concerns the descent of Ishtar to Hades (known to Catholics as Purgatory), in pursuit of Tammuz in order to bear him in her arms and bring him back from the world of the dead while the women of Babylonia mourned for the dead Tammuz. This later became a religious practice highlighted and condemned in Ezekiel 8: 14. Tammuz's death was said to have resulted in so much grief and sorrow to his mother that she ventured to travel into the world of the dead to retrieve him. Ancient Babylonians ascribed the period of disappearance of vegetation to that which the son of Semiramis descended into the under world after death. By weeping for Tammuz, the cult of Babylon believed that vegetation would be restored, as the god would appear once again. Other evidence of this ritual of mourning for Tammuz in Catholicism is still found in the Corpus Christi, copy of an ancient procession for transubstantiation practiced in the Roman Cult of Isis. It is not surprising that many other religious cults, particularly the secret ones, hold similar doctrines. They refer to Tammuz as the ‘Window's Son', and engage in the practice of weeping, mourning and self immolation to revive him from the land of the dead. The Roman Catholic Church also practice this through the Mass organized as Stations of the Cross. These rites of Weeping for the Widow's Son, Corpus Christi procession and Stations of the Cross have been modified in several Latin American societies for the purpose of physical penance of beating, piecing, injuring and crucifying of self on the cross to suffer for sin. In a northern village of Cutud, in Philippines Island, hundreds of Filipino Catholics still claim to be having their share in the sufferings of Jesus Christ on each Good Friday by re-enacting the process of suffering of the Savior over two thousand years ago. Annually, many devout Filipino Catholics are crucified to crosses for several minutes, while hundreds of others self-flog their backs to a gory bloody state. Of all Christendom, only Catholics indulge in this practice which negates the Christian doctrine of Christ having paid the full price for the sins of all. Vatican II Council confirmed the relevance of the practice of self sacrifice in suffering by explaining that amends ought and must be made for every man's sin for restoration to salvation to be possible. This is an outright false doctrine as no man can take part in the redemption work of Christ, which has been completed at Calvary. Novena is a rite for the dead imported into Catholicism in the Middle Ages by corrupt popes who wanted to make merchandise of religion. Novena was also imbibed from a conjunction of Babylonian cultic belief in expatiating for personal sins and in ultimate divine power being vested on the High Priest to be able to free trapped souls of the dead from their poor state. It is claimed that a man's soul first visits Purgatory on death, and funeral rites release these souls to Paradise. This heresy affirms the existence of a transition place of torment, Purgatory, in which souls that have not merited eternal damnation are to suffer punishment for their sins. After being freed from impurity through such sufferings and monetary devotions of his survivors to the Church, the soul is allowed to proceed to Paradise. Novena doctrine was further abused by Medieval bishops through demand for payment of Indulgences, in which full remission of sins, past, present or future are procured by payment of cash in exchange for some papers confirming that the pope had forgiven their sins. This practice also stems from the claim of Babylonian cult to have highest power and divine wisdom vested in the High Priests. By this, the Roman Catholic authority filled their coffers with enough resources to sustain the magnificence, luxury and ostentation of the priests. Offering of incense sacrifices by priests during Mass is also an adaptation of Babylonian appeasement for sins. Nowhere in the New Testament are Christians instructed to offer incense to God. With such historical exegesis of the doctrine of Purgatory and related payments for sin outside the sacrifice of Jesus, every true Christian must understand that belief in a Purgatory is not only fetish and heretic but also abominable to God. |

The Assam R*ape Festival In India Begins This Week Imagine if such tradadition as this exists in your tradition and locality; what would be your opinion? "Assam, INDIA — Men in India are already beginning to celebrate as the annual Assam Sexual Assault Festival is just days away. Every non-married girl age 7-16 will have the chance to flee to safety or get r*ped. Madhuban Ahluwalia who heads up the annual festival told reporters why the event is so important. “This is a long time tradition in Assam dating back thousands of years,” says Ahluwalia. “We r*pe the evil demons out of the girls, otherwise they will cheat on us and we will be forced to kill them. So it is necessary for everyone.” The Assam Festival began in 43 BC when Baalkrishan Tamil Nadu r*ped everyone in his village of Ludhiana. Baalkrishan Tamil Nadu is remembered every year at this event, in fact the trophy given to the man with the most r*pes is called “The Baalkrishan”. 23-year-old Harikrishna Majumdar told reporters that he has been training all year for this event. “I’m going to get the most r*pes this year. I’ve been practicing r*ping my sister and her friends every day. I will be r*pe superstar number one! I will get the Baalkrishan prize this year for sure!” 11-year-old Jaitashri Majumdar told reporters she almost made it through last year’s festival without getting r*ped. “I came so close to not getting r*ped. I almost got to the ‘r*pe-free-zone’ at the edge of town, but at the last minute 9 men jumped on me and r*ped me. Luckily I am just recovering now so I can participate in this year’s events, otherwise I would be put to death by stoning.” 34-year-old Brian Barnett from Toronto who is visiting Assam on business told reporters he will be missing the festivities this year. “My company did not tell me anything about a r*pe festival happening while I was here. Are you serious, a r*pe festival? I’m getting the f**k out of this backwards country tonight.” India is second in reported r*pes in the world only behind the United States, though critics are quick to point out that is only because most r*pes in India go unreported. For more information on the festival or if you would like to participate, please call the 24-hour Assam Rape Festival hotline at (785) 273-0325." nationalreport.net/assam-rape-festival-india-begins-week/ news.ugo.co.ug/2013/11/assam-rape-festival-india-begun-week/ What a despicable, devilish, pagan tradition, I'll say!!!

HolyHolla: Quote: "So too, on the day when our works are examined, the fire of judgment will both PURIFY and remove. This will not affect our salvation, but it will affect our rewards. Ubenedictus: your friend mavister said there is purification after death, i also quoted his post and ask you if you agreed you said something of d resemblance of yes.Qoute where he said it, please. try69: I knew you were never a serious catholic... You didn't read while you were in the church and you claim to know all..THE heterosexual BLESSED CARDINAL SAINT JOHN HENRY NEWMAN? We are talking of great men!!! Not a man who himself declared that his theology was based on teachings of known pagans like Aristotle, Cicero, Hume, John Locke, and on Catholic Church-declared heretic like Origen? Now, it's time to holla! Is there any non Catholic and non Theological around here who's ever heard of that name; John Henry emmm, emmm, whatever... put up your hands. (Counting)... 1, 2, ... Now, is there anyone out there who's ever heard of Martin Luther? (Counting)... 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, ... 1,234,567,889, 3,234,567,890..... and still counting. That is what we mean by "great" men. I am a theologian, so I know about John Henry Newman, but tomorrow, go on the streets and ask the people around and get back to us, sir. You will need to carry a bell along to ring, because that name might not ring a bell for so, so many people. |
Ubenedictus: you never cease to interest me.The difference? Well everybody else reading this would notice the difference, which is that I NEVER wrote "purification by imperfect works" nor agreed to any type of "purification after death". I'm even alien to any such thought, which I find ridiculous. How can the Bible that says nothing happens between death and judgement also go ahead to talk of a purification after death. That is contradictory. I only wrote about the Day of Judgement of the Saints. They are not being "purified" at that time, their works are being judged for rewards. After death, only judgement, one to the unrighteous for punishment and the other to the Saints to determine their rewards in the Kingdom of Heaven. We shall all be judged. Paul says it clearly: Rom. 14: 10 "But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ." 2Cor. 5:10 "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad." Please spare me if I have no more responses in this discussion stream. It's not out of rudeness if you don't read from me on this topic, even if you prod me. Honestly, I don't engage in arguments and my facts are clearly laid down so far. |
Sal C: Some people think we should all run away from the Catholic church because they did so.No! I do not believe that we should all run away from the Catholic church, neither do I believe that we should run from any church, IF we have the opportunity to make a change or differential impact. Unfortunately, I personally don't know of "great" protestants who returned to the Catholic church after reading the Bible. I was never a Catholic, but only went to a school gracefully founded and run by Catholics. I was born in an Anglican family and I got tired of the methods of worship with the same chants and hymns, even before I started to personally seek God. Though I attended a Catholic high school, one of the best at the time, I didn't see any difference in the worship except for the sonorous latin songs with drummings, which we enjoyed and gleefully danced to. But I kept wondering about the doctrines, though I had no alternative than to keep attending church services whenever I could not escape with my friends for other escapades. My face was still turned in a different direction of social life of partying, chasing skirts, excessive alcoholism, drugs etc. I had no real iota of interest in any form of religion. It was not until I had a personal encounter with Christ after a few more years of youthful exuberance, thuggery and hooliganism that I began to take Christianity serious. Then, many of my peers tried to introduce changes into the Anglican church, but were chased out. By the time Catholic Charismatics began in the 70s, I was one of their most ardent supporters. But I heard they got kicked out too later. Many of my peers actually went back to the Anglican church after a few years when the strangulation on 'born-again' was eased and a lot are now in heirarchy of Bishops and upwards. But those who left the Catholic church also found the Charismatic movement taken over by the priesthood at that time and did not return. The main reasons they gave was the unacceptance to freely worship and the Catholic doctrines which just don't tally with biblical teachings but only Catholic traditions. So, "whodunnit"? I can't blame them. My purpose of stating these historical facts? Perhaps, if the Catholic church could get back to basic Christianity and abolish the traditions that scare us off... Your guess is as good as mine. Indeed, "who is fooling who?" Nobody wants to be fooled. Not me!!! |
Ubenedictus: This is what your gallant soldier saidSo too, on the day when our works are examined, the fire of judgment will both PURIFY and remove. This will not affect our salvation, but it will affect our rewards. The theme of fire used as purification is also found in 2 Pet. 3:10-13. But this is not talking about becoming saved or staying saved.I, for one, will not be dragged into arguments. I raised issues, which no one but the young man, Mavista, more than adequately attended to in totality. I'm satisfied with his explanations and I noticed he was discussing with excellence based on theological and academic research. This sort of research is what I expected from everyone else rather than indulging in repetition of dogmas which we have been fed with since childhood to prove what each individual is insisting on. I'm equally elated that from his research, he himself declared, he has learnt much more in the discussion, therefore, he has not lost out in the discourse. This is what I expect of everyone of us. We should all gain by our mutual interactions on NL, but that would depend on our motives; whether we just want to prove our preconceived points or truly learn new things. I notice that while querying the matter of purification as written by Mavista, you were only twisting his words. Everyone knows there's difference between purification by fire after death in a Purgatory and purification of the individual's works on the Day of Judgement of the Saints. It's the latter that Mavista wrote about, while you insist on the former. The Bible authoritatively states that it is appointed for all men to die once, and AFTER comes the judgement. Nothing comes in between. I'm a product of a great Catholic academic secondary institution, to which I ever remain grateful but those days, I never knew that there are so many hidden doctrines that negate scriptures while elevating human traditions until I began to study the Bible without preconceived ideas in my mind. I recommend the same form of studying scriptures to everyone for thorough understanding. The Holy Spirit can only speak to a heart that is willing to learn, not one already filled with hard doctrines of men. That is why the Pharisees of Jesus' time gained nothing from His teachings but offense... Because of the hardness of their hearts. Blessings to y'all for the interesting discourse. Everyone tried, but Mavista won my heart. |
@ mavister, you have fought a good fight. This is turning into endless arguments with noone ready to submit. You have made the necessary points on the issue at hand with a lot of decorum and I think it's time to get off the stream. Gallant soldier of Christ, you've won a high respect. |
mavister: Catholic theologians point to Matthew 5:25-26 as the basis for Purgatory. Let us review that Scripture:Another brilliant expose. I wish I had the time to post long treatises like you. These are just the right explanations to the misconceptions being peddled. If me and you have to pay for some sins, how much would we be required to pay? First, it negates the fact that Jesus paid all on the cross and secondly, the penalty contained in scriptures for sin is the death of the soul, not a temporary place of torment. Paying for some sins means we have to taste ETERNAL death. Talking of sins we must pay for, there is a difference between a person's sin and his iniquity which is imputed upon up to third and fourth generations. When sin is regarded as iniquity, generations after continue to pay for it. In the case of David, his sins of blodshedding became iniquity which his children after Solomon had to bear and therefore, the kingship was torn into two and only a part belonged to them. They also suffered many setbacks for the same reason. There are many other such references in the Bible explaining what it means when it says some sins will not be forgiven in this world. But even those iniquities are now covered under the Blood of Jesus for every Christian who knows his rights in Jesus. Keep it coming Bro. You rock! |
mavister: Italo.listen to thisVery brilliant expose of scriptures. |
I tried to read each and every submission on this thread and what I've noticed is a group who believe in a concept applying every means available to scorn, ridicule and jibe at others who dare express any deviant view(s). So far, I find no substance in the arguments put foward in support of Purgatory and in the far-fetched biblical and sometimes uncannonical references with human traditions forcibly applied to justify unsubstantiated opinions arising from machinations to control others. Is there someone who's ready for Christian Apologetics without insult and rancour? Please join me in discussing. Perhaps we all need to go back and study to understand: 1. The origin(s) of the concept of Purgatory since all evidence found from practices and beliefs of early Christians expressed clearly a concept of judgment immediately after death as contained in Heb 9:27 which says, "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:" (Anyone may please disprove this by quoting early Christian writings, apart from Gnostic books, and Maccabees, justifying the concept of Purgatory, which should be differentiated from a concept of merely praying for the dead on their journey to the after world) 2. Gnostics' contribution to the concept of Purgatory and their link to the concept of reincarnation since the Gnostics were the first to propose the doctrine in NT times, which was supressed by the Early Church until it was sanctioned by the Council of Trent in 1031 BC and resurrected in Catholic scholars' writings between 1170 and 1200 BC. Please once again, let us refrain from confusing "Purgatory" with the simple concept of praying for the dead which is as old as 4th Century BC 3. The relationship of Purgatory to paganistic and/or unChristian religions such as Bhuddism, Taoism, Cults of Ishtar, Cult of Nimrod and Semiramis, Greek Pantheon Religions, African Traditional Religions, Islam and many others who also believe in the same concept 3. The origin of citation of Purgatory in Africa (I'm sure this was not developed by an African, and if it was an African that sited Purgatory in Europe, the whites would have employed every argument possible for a disclaimer instead of embracing it) 4. Apostle Paul in 1Corinthians 3:11-15 wrote: "For other foundation no man can lay, but that which is laid; which is Christ Jesus . Now if any man build upon this foundation, gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay stubble: Every man's work shall be manifest; for the day of the Lord shall declare it, because it shall be revealed in fire; and the fire shall try every man's work, of what sort it is. If any man's work abide, which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work burn, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved , yet so as by fire." This does not justify the doctrine of Purgatory as the singular reference to "...for the day of the Lord shall declare it.." tells us that this message is relevant to the Day of Judgement of the Saints, not a place or time of recluse in a place of purging 5. What if purgatory really doesn’t exist? Then, we would have succeeded in decieving people with a hope that their little sins don't matter instead of gearing them to righteouness in preparation for Heaven. Please, I will appreciate if any responses are devoid of the usual insults, scorn and hate which are completely against Christian ethical relationships. |
My friend, na only Baba God save you sey I no dey there when dem do u dis kind damage. I'm always tempted to hit my knuckles on this kind of head. |
gboss4sure: I do pity bankers a lot, they must have one of the most boring life, always in the bank attending to those crowds everyday, some even work 247. Kai no time to flex ur life. Seriously it pays to be the ceo.I won't bet on the "boring life" stuff. When you step out of work as a banker with your pockets full of wadnotes, the boredom disappears, even if for a few hours. |
Meringe: my dear. banking job is the beginning of your woes if you dont plan once you got the job. I have many friends who are ex bankers , some are doing well while some are still struggling to survive. You are quite right. It's not just about how much you have saved and how many properties you have acquired. If you don't learn a profitable business investment, after you leave your job, you stand the chance of losing all you have gathered to catering for your responsibilities, to fraudsters, to personal disasters, to force majeure and to hangers on. Why do you think young and inexperienced Igbo guys just coming from the village often become successful later in business? They learn under one master first before they start their own, no matter how harsh the conditions may be while learning. Without learning first, you stand the chances of paying what Yoruba call 'owo mugu' before you learn. There is always a price to pay for education, formal or informal. |
Life after a banking job can be quite miserable unless you are well prepared. The sumptuous salary may suddenly cease, the titbit tips and extra allowances may vanish, the access to substantial funds in loans and bulk payments may no longer be available and worse of all, you may think you have friends in generous customers who presently extend financial and other favors, but believe me, it's only your seat (position and power) they value. When you are no longer on the seat, and you are unprepared, then life comes in the same realities of what all others out there are facing... struggling to survive. I left a high position of the banking sector in 1992 to start on my own. I lived a good life then and till today, I've been able to sustain a good life. My saving grace was that I had already been a practicing businessman before leaving the bank, so I was able to survive in the harsh business world, even without having to cut corners into corruption and dirty deals. The major lesson I learnt is - whatever you plan to do after banking life, start practicing it now. Don't wait till you are out before you start learning because then, you will only succeed by trial and error. And I can bet you, those money bags who throng to see you nowadays, particularly those Asian businessmen would see you on the streets and turn their heads away, except they have reason to respect you for the success you are able to make in life after banking. I still come across so many of my peers who failed to learn this lesson, who taday are struggling for basic means of survival. And did I forget to mention that if you fail to prepare for life after banking, you could join the teeming populace of professional politicians to loot government treasuries. But that means you have to sell your very soul to the machinations and schemes of the party heirarchies and mean people you could never have touched with a long pole while you lived the life of a banker. |
If it's about what Fela was DOING, that's a no-no. But if you talk of what Fela was saying, he sure was a better prophet than so many of those we've had claiming to be prophets. Though, Fela was definitely NOT a prophet of Yaweh! Look all around now and you'll see that the same vices he condemned are still living with us today, and how many could predict the state of Nigeria now since some 40 years back? The supposed prophets of God still deny that Nigeria is in a sham state by saying, "Don't talk about the vices", "Don't talk about the leaders", "Just focus on getting your own blessings", yet they refuse to do any tangible thing to stop it. Rather, they are complacent and complicit with their teachings that encourage corruption, official high handedness, hero worship of scoundrels in power, collaboration in collecting gifts from corrupt officials, tribalism, hatred and so many others. Fela was unlike many of the professed atheists, pagans and traditional worshippers that we have now because he put actions where his mouth was. For this, I've always had great respect for him and I was there at 'Kalakuta' to pay my personal last respects at his burial and his first year rememberance despite the horror of having to inhale so much 'igbo' fumes. While I may want to put some blame on him for the high rate of drug addiction and 'Area Boyism' in Lagos, I will definitely blame our religious preachers for the rest of the vices in Nigeria. |

rapture_ready: LolAre you that easily scared? You need to tune in to TB Joshua's Emmanuel TV more often. |
Infomizer: Can we get an interview with a 9ja witch with the same questions? Then we juxtapose their responses...#justarandomthoughtGreat idea. Any volunteer witch out there ready to be interviewed? Come on, don't be shy, we know you exist! |
Looking to see a real live witch? One could be standing right next to you in your workplace. Now, I wonder how many of them we have on NL! |
I see everyone who can discern the difference between doctrine of purification of persons by punishment in a Purgatory and Judgement of the works of the Saints for reward laughing at you.
