Civil rights organisation, Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP), yesterday claimed that the International Criminal Court had decided to probe the xenophobic attacksagainst Nigerians and other African citizens in South Africa. This was disclosed in a statement released yesterday by SERAP’s executive director, Adetokunbo Mumuni.

Foreign Affairs / Re: Xenophobia: South Africa Condemns Nigeria's Decision To Recall Its Ambassador by HolyHolla(m): 4:50pm On Apr 26, 2015
I have wondered; how could a group of educated people and leaders of a nation make a claim that a foreign nation should not have reacted negatively to xenophobic attacks simply because their own nationals were not among those killed? Myopic reasoning, I would say. What of lives of other nationals and even South Africans lost in the incidences? That is enough for all foreign nations to react and condemn the attrocities. Not forgetting that Nigerian and other foreigners' businesses were destroyed in the fracas. I'm happy that Israel took such initiative and disallowed a South African official entry, even though they suffered no direct loss.

Anyway, I recently learnt that Jacob Zuma, South African president, had no formal education, but I would have expected him to utilize his informal enlightenment more positively than for purposes of marrying more and more wives and utilizing government funds into building his personal estates. Only God knows how many other SA senior government officials never saw the four walls of a school. One said that they are reacting to foreigners snatching their girlfriends. Another said foreigners owe a duty to teach the South Africans the secrets of their business successes. What a bunch! They remind me of Shanana!

TOP 7 LEAST EDUCATED AFRICAN PRESIDENTS

1. Jacob Zuma- Republic of South Africa
Zuma received no formal schooling. The debate surrounding South African president Jacob Zuma’s lack of formal education has been a hot discussion topic for years.Prince Mashele, CEO of the Forum for Public Dialogue, has been critical of Zuma’s lack of formal education and argued that Zuma is not fit to rule.

In December 2012, Mashele said the following about another Zuma term in office: “The rainbow nation of Nelson Mandela will disintegrate, under the weight of a corrupt government, led by people who build large compounds in Nkandla”.

Others disagree. Vusi Shongwe, who worked in the office of the KZN premier, said he believed that the negativity over Zuma’s leadership is largely unjustified. “For all his faults and foibles, he remains a leader people from all walks of life can easily relate to,” said Shongwe....

I believe that these South Africans killing and maiming are descendants of the Sans Bushmen who are the original inhabitants of Southern Africa. With a better understanding of their past, we may want to change our reactions towards them from hate to pity.

Has anyone seen the movie series, 'The gods are not to blame'? That should give a better understanding of how crude these people's civilization used to be. They never developed any reasonable science or technology. They never domestcated animals nor farmed the land, but depended only on hunting and gathering fruits. When outsiders came in to teach them new civilizations, it was too strange for them to accept because culturally, they never believed in working for their daily bread. Their next actions, which they practice till today, was to kill strangers in their midst for bringing in the acts of working and of developing science and technology.

"... The 'Bushmen' are the oldest inhabitants of southern Africa, where they have lived for at least 20,000 years. Their home is in the vast expanse of the Kalahari desert. There are many different Bushman peoples - they have no collective name for themselves, and the terms 'Bushman', 'San', 'Basarwa' (in Botswana) and so on are used variously. Most of those which are widely understood are imposed by outsiders and have some pejorative sense; many now use and accept the term 'Bushmen'. They speak a variety of languages, all of which incorporate 'click' sounds representedin writing by symbols such as ! or /.
The Bushmen are hunter-gatherers, who for thousands of years supported themselves in the desert through these skills. They hunt - mainly various kinds of antelope - but their daily diet has always consisted more of the fruits, nuts and roots which they seek out in the desert..."

I had a malam customer I used to buy spices from and he sells them. He sells the black powder and also diff types of containers for the tiro.
Its cow hide. What you call feather is the hair/fur from the cow. I see no feather there sha. Unless you removed them.

That's what it looks like to me. But then, it could be for fetish purposes because some use the eyeliner to charm other people into falling in love with them or doing their biddings.

It's interesting how everyone on Nairaland has EU passport but chose to live in Nigeria while their wives and kids live and school in UK and US.

If you believe in Nigeria as you say then get rid of thosepassports, bring your kids back and put them in Nigerian schools and work hard to develop the country.

You say moral decadence in the western world. Are you telling me Nigeria is moral? You may have one of the highest number of churches per square foot in the world but please do not be deceived that makes you moral. Nigeria is as immoral as they come.

It is this same immorality that has actually led to this situation where Nigerians now find it hard to get visas. As I said in my last post there was a time when Nigerians were visa free to many of the world's best countries, but due to us abusing the systems and spoiling our name we lost that privilege so until you sort out the mess and rebuild your reputation, you can keep praying all you like it will not make a difference.

Nigerians have what they need to me a change but would rather fast and pray. Goodluck with that.

Thanks for thinking about me and my future so I wouldn't have to queue for visa - i look forward to that time. In the meantime I will continue to queue so I can get an EU passport like you and send my wife and kids to UK and US to live and study
You're a role model smiley

I do agree with you that we are not there yet. I realize that Nigeria of now is not rightly tuned. While I'm prepared to face it because my generation caused what is in existence, I will still shield my family to have better prospect and future. How would you expect me to bring up children when the educational standard is so low that even a graduate in Nigeria cannot distinguish between present, continuous and past tenses? Let my children be properly educated and they will return to develop Nigeria with their expertise. There is coming a time when in Nigeria, we will get there and the favor of God will descend on Nigeria accordingly. It's not a cliche. We still have a better chance because there is yet some fear of God in our hearts than for those who absolutely confess rejection of God. That is the morality I'm talking about.

I noticed something at the dawn of the new milennium. The Europeans and Americans gathered at their places of utmost interests, including clubs houses, parks, domes, magnificient buildings and ancient landmarks. But Africans, particularly, Nigerians, were in churches, praying. That tells a lot about how our hearts sway when confronted with the unknown. When the world lapses into problems and plagues, Africans and other nations currently oppressed will turn to God while advanced nations would rather turn to science and technology for salvation. And you can take that to the bank.

Keep the faith and believe in Him who is able to do it and you will see it happen... even during your lifetime.

Na so e pain you reach? All because of visa you are praying for their countries to collapse.

You conveniently ignore the fact that it's due Nigerians messing up that has made things this difficult.

You do realise there was a time Nigerians were visa free but you a I habused the system. Even recently Singapore stopped Nigerians being visa free for same reason.

Why not pray and work hard for Nigeria to be up to par instead and develop a reputation as a country that respects the rule of law and works? That way there is mutual respect it's easier to travel as they know Nigeria is good and they wi return home.

No, I'm not pained because I don't have to line up at embassies. I have an EU passport, so I can travel as I like. I also work hard enough to have my wife and children live and work/school in UK and US, but I chose to live in Nigeria because I believe in us all salvaging it together. I reserve a Plan B to retrieve my family back when the glory returns to Nigeria. But I also see the collapse of some of these societies strongly approaching as they lose their moral values, leading to social and economic upheavals.

It's for people like you that I see that future, of a Nigeria where people from the presently developed nations cluster at embassies to migrate to a Nigeria that is still relatively sane. Ask the Men of God as well as historians and they will tell you that when righteousness and morality leave a people, decay begins to set in, so please work too, and pray for the fulfillment of a great future for our dear nation.

I'm not sure about that. These things do happen and quite a lot of people still believe in going fettish. Few weeks ago, I heard a duo on the run with one shouting and the other echoing some incantations at about 3 am, right inside the estate where I live. It's an exclusive estate populated by senior civil servants and business people, where local people are uncommon, but there is yet such a practice of carrying sacrifices for the gods at 3 pronged crossroad (known in Yoruba as 'ebo') thriving!

Fast Food Owners Who Cook With Menstrual Flows, Faeces, Blood Apprehended In Imo State

"It was an horrible, absurd and gory sight to behold as the owners of a popular eatery around the sphericity of Aladinma student alliance met their well timed waterloo.

Eyewitness recounted that trouble started within the wee hours of the morning, when the vigilante group in charge of security around the alliance caught a woman in possession of blood filled calabash doing some incantation in front of an eatery by name "Sweet Diamond" situated at the heart of the alliance.

When she was accosted, she lied that she was conducting a prayer session and the security guards overlooked her.

She was almost allowed to go scot free, not until suspicion grew and the fetish contents of the calabash was discovered.

She was almost lynched by the irate mob, if not for the confessions she was forced to make....
She made confessions which smeared the self acclaimed Manager of the eatery by name Dubem.

At the long run, Dubem the innocent looking guy was apprehended and thoroughly beaten to the extent that he made confessions that has caused palpable fears, regrets and tension around the vicinity and its adjoining environ.

In the course of the confessions, the angry scrum started digging the entrance to the eatery.

To the greatest shock and dismay of everyone, fetish and diabolical items like;human heart, various sizes of padlocks, black and white handkerchiefs, traces of human blood and various human body parts etc was harvested.

Dubem in his fear gripped, stuttering and incoherent statements, confessed how he uses the menstrual flow of his female workers to cook food, how he uses large quantities of human feaces to prepare egusi soup, how he uses human blood to prepare stew and so many atrocious acts.

He even confessed how he sleeps with all his female staff, take their destiny and compel them to keep sealed lips.

He further professed how he enchanted his customers and continuously enchant his prospective customers immediately they step their foot inside the eatery.

He also admitted how he generate and control an influx of customers to his eatery using fetish means.
Taking a look at his blood soiled body and devilish face, one will wonder and ask, "what on earth will warrant someone to engage in these soulless acts"?

With the kind of customers he commanded, I can vehemently state that about 80% of residents and visitors of Aladinma and Okwu Uratta have in several ways consumed commodities from that eatery, if not Garri & soup, chicken, provisions, drugs, it must be shawarma or pop corn etc.

I really share in their fears, but they should be unruffled and take solace in the word of God which says that; "the evil that the children of God are ignorant of, won't find them".

Only God, carefulness and high level of circumspection are the requisites in these devilish moments."

Here is what Job wrote in chapter 26

7. He stretchesout the north over the empty place, and hangs the earth on nothing.
advertisement
8. He binds up waters in his thick clouds; and the cloud is not rent under them.
9. He holds back the face of his throne, and spreads his cloud on it.
10. He has compassed the waters with bounds, until the day and night come to an end.
From his observations about the earth hanging from nothing, the waters compassing the earth in a circular fashion and the view of the day-night dividing line, Job was certainly far advanced beyond his "flat earth" contemporaries.

www.charismanews.com/opinion/48431-how-could-job-s-3500-b-c-description-of-the-earth-match-a-modern-astronaut-s-view-from-space

Nothing in the Bible states that the earth is flat. It is Quran 71:19 that describes the Earth as flat like a carpet;

“‘And Allah has made the earth for you as a carpet (spread out), 20 “‘That ye may go about therein, in spacious roads.’”

Other passages confirm this 'flat earth' theory by describing it as a bed spread out, which is similar to the type of flat carpet bed used in the days.

Sura Taha (20:53) Who has made earth for you like a bed (spread out); and has opened roads (ways and paths etc.) for you therein; and has sent down water (rain) from the sky. And We have brought forthwith it various kinds of vegetation.

Sura Az-Zukhruf (43:10) Who has made for you the earth like a bed, and has made for you roads therein, in order that you may find your way.

This report is sooo untrue

I wouldn't dismiss the report just like that. We should not look to just 'state government' or 'Fashola' alone when talking of corruption. With myriads of law enforcement agencies such as Customs officers, Police, Army, FRSC, and local government enforcement agencies as well as touts and area boys extorting money from the public, Lagos is obviously the most guilty in terms of corruption.

We also need to look into the deep undertones of government contracts that are concentrated into the hands of some political godfathers, running into trillions of Naira, while various taxes are inflicted on the masses to fuel the business empires of these godfathers.

These are obvious phenomenon that is forcing several people to move out of Lagos State. Of course, let's facd the fact; Lagos State is currently the most corrupt and corrupted state in Nigeria.

France backing of Palestinian statehood has not saved them from multiple Islamic terrorists' attacks in just one week. The whole world must come together to stand agaist every form of violence in the name of religion and nationalism.

It is apparent that if Palestinians disarm and drop their violent posture today to embrace dialogue, the whole world would turn a positive sentiment towards their cause. But just as Netanyahu once said, if Israel disarms today, there would be no more state of Israel tomorrow.

"IN THE EVENT FORMER HEAD OF STATE, GENERAL MUHAMMADU BUHARI, EMERGES AS APC PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE, DO YOU SEE HIM DEFEATING PRESIDENT JONATHAN IN 2015?

If Buhari standsfor any election 10 times, he will lose.

WHY?

He hasn’t got the electoral advantage to win an election. He has done a lot of things in the past, which shows that he hasn’t got democratic norms. For instance, the government of Lagos Statewas to do the railway system and we know what he did about it. Nigeria has one of the worst railway systemsin Africa today. Lagos State was going to do water system; he (Buhari) cancelled it. He even cancelled the railway system (metroline) in Lagos State.

The railway system was approved by Shehu Shagari and the agreement was vetted by me as the Attorney-General and Lagos State deposited $50 million to a French company, which they forfeited and then they were asked to pay damages again in arbitration. Buhari was told that and he didn’t care. His belief was that South would be better developed than the North. Anybody who thinks like that is not worthy of being President of this country. That is one of the reasonshe has no political advantage for any political party. We all know what he did about human rights abuses. He imprisoned many political leaders."

Ring, ring ... that was my phone and I picked up, though the calling no. didn't appear ...

Me: Hello.

Scammer: Is that so, so, so and so? (Scammer mentions my name).

Me: Yes, who's speaking?

Scammer: I'm calling from UK. (Apparently, the chap knows I have links there). Guess now... Who do you know in UK?

(I quickly got the gist... it's a 419 monkey!!! Let's play monkey game with monkey!)

Me: Oh, is that Gboyega? Long time!

Scammer: Yes, it's me now. I thought you wouldn't recognise my voice.

Me: Why won't I? Even though you're disguising, I'll still know your voice. So, how are you?

Scammer: Fine, we are coping.

Me: I saw your pictures on FB. You've been enjoying yourself travelling around. I saw that one you posted, taken in New York.

Scammer: I just had to make that business trip o.

Me: But, you are a bad boy o. You just abandoned your family and friends in Nigeria and you are enjoying all over the U.S.

Scammer: It's not my fault o.

Me: Have you been told of how your father died last week of untreated disease linked to malnutrition? Even your mother was knocked down by palm wine tapper on a bicycle. She has been in hospital since with broken legs. In fact, she is suffering hunger too. The N50 bread she ate last night, I was the one who bought it for her...

(I was prepared to go on and on, relating his woes to him when he suddenly retorted...)

Scammer: Na your Mama go..... (Started cursing and hung up).

Me: Tehehehehe... I scammed the scammer...

I've always been on big screen Galaxy android phones and never liked BB phones until the Z series came. Somehow, I was put off seeing people plugging to charge their BBs everywhere they find the opportunity because the battery powers never last them a full day. My second grouse was the poor quality of pictures produced by BB cameras. Coupled with these is what I personally conceive as the nuisance of having to add people who discover you have a PIN no. for useless and time consuming ping-chats.

But on January 28, 2014, I bought a Z30 and started enjoying the benefits of long lasting battery and good quality camera, and to solve the third problem, I actually activated my PIN, but never accepted any invitations to connect. Not even from closest family members.

I must say I enjoyed using the Z30, although it was still not my primary phone line, until 24th September, when the screen suddenly blanked off. Frustrated that I ever ventured into BB phones, I just packed it aside only to recharge it occasionally. But suddenly, just 2 days ago, by some miracle, the screen came back on after I recharged the battery.

Honestly, I'm happy to have my Z30 working again, but I'm still wondering whether I shouldn't pawn it for another phone, suspecting that it may malfunction again.

I agree entirely with you but only Atiku seems to have a solid economic plan and is addressing real issues instead of throwing baseless political brick bats like the two other contenders. I agree with you that Atiku can't be trusted but I see him as the lesser of the three evils.

That said the best solution would have been for buhari to use his clout and influence to annoint a young, dynamic and forward thinking person to run for the presidency. Someone who has ideas and can still deliver but alas the old man is too egocentric, sees himself as a messaiah and believes Nigeria should revolve around him. He wants power at all cost even though he lacks ideas and has nothing to offer us. Even his anti corruption stance is suspect and a weakling like him can never sustain an effective anti corruption war in a democracy were he can easily be arm twisted or even impeached for attempting to fight it. It takes someone with guile and guts like his oga(obj) to do this and even then obj couldn't do it successfully how much less him.

As I have always said I would vote for whoever I believe is best posed to develop this country and to me buhari represents retrogression.

There is no point going over this topic over and over again as buhari apologists have perfected lies which they promote to cover up up his inadequacies and some of you now believe these lies. For instance Buhari said Abacha was honest after Abacha had ied despite all the billions he stole. This statement wasn't made when Abacha was a junior officer to him. As I said I don't have the energy to continue repeating this over-flogged debate. Fact remains buhari has absolutely nothing positive to offer Nigeria and he is NOT the type of leader we need.

PastorKun, I agree with you that Buhari is not the type of leader we need. Give that desperate old fox a chance, and he could devour us all and spare only his associates. But on the other hand, Jona is not the type of leader we need either. He has shown that he can be devoured by foxes that take advantage of his lackadaisical style of leadership.

I note your preference for Atiku, but I don't trust that old leech either. With no visible source of enterprise, he has become stinkingly rich at the expense of our communal wealth. He steals everywhere he touches dry and it may just be business as usual for looters if he is given a chance. I see no achievement that man has ever made in any political office he has ever held in Nigeria.

Now, we are caught between the deep Red Sea and the forces of Pharaoh. What do we do? God help us!
