Don't be an uncle Thomas? It was going pretty well until they lost it there. Does the writer even know the origins of the term "Uncle Thomas"? I bet he doesn't. Rather he chose to make the same mistake that most African Americans make when they label every successful black person, who doesn't subscribe their destructive culture, a traitor. Too bad. |
Hello folks, Please, i need some advice. Recently I have been trying to port from globacom to mtn. I thought I should give them a try especially because of their internet data plans. Etisalat and Airtel signals are rather poor in the places where I spend most of my time. I went to an MTN office to fill out a form. Was asked to send "Port" to 3232 and in 24 hours if I no longer had any network signal I should know that my request had pulled through and I was then to change to a new MTN simcard. My first request was sent 21 days ago. I got a reply 3 days telling me that my porting request had failed and I was to contact my new service provider. I went back to the MTN office where I had lodged the request to ask them what the problem was. I was told that there was a problem with the porting service. I didn't know what that meant. I was told to wait a couple of days and then send the request again. This turned out to be a very long wait. Nine days later I was told to send the `request again. I did but still had no response. I was still unable to port. Finally 3 days ago, Tuesday the 11th November I received a message from one of the representatives at an MTN office in Ibadan telling me to send the request again. This I did immediately. But the matter has taken a twist. That same day I was permanently disconnected from my initial service provider glo but I still am not with MTN. I am now in a quagmire; no longer on globacom, not yet in MTN. I have made repeated complaints to the MTN office and they keep telling me that they have done their bit. That the problem is not theirs. They had sent the request to the technical department and I am to be patient. I don't know how long I am supposed to exercise patience. It's been three days now without my only functional line. My business has suffered. It's taken all the discipline I can muster not to go that office to scatter the place. Folks please, I need your advice. |
Op I've enjoyed this thread. I get the impression that your knowledge of your country is higher than that of the average Russian. I'd like to ask, are you familiar with the works of Alexander Solthzenitsyn (pardon me, not sure if I got the spelling right). He was a distinguished Russian scholar. In the hey days of communism as a child he remembered listening to his parents, grandparents & others sitting down discussing in hushed tones. They asked themselves," why is the government so cruel, why do they punish their citizens, why, why, why..." You know what the answer was at the end of every one of such deliberations? It was the same and it went thus... " It is because we have forgotten God". You see, folks in your country who were old enough then and had experienced genuine religion earlier on in life witnessed the change that occurred in your country and could testify that Godlessness had made a mess of the social fabric of your country. You may not understand what I'm telling you now if you're an atheist/agnostic with no familial religious bent, but do try to check it out. The bottom line is Russia needs God in the person of His.son Jesus Christ, and dearly too... (well who doesn't). As an aside, I commend your society for resisting the Western European onslaught of liberalism, gay rights and all the other nonsense. You must not relent in your efforts. Finally are you people scared of the rising wave of Islam. Are you aware of the mohammedian agenda to take over the world? It's a good thing your immigration policy has not been favourable to the Islamization of your country. Now with England gradually caving in to Islam, France tottering on the edge and the rest of Western Europe in peril , are your people afraid? How much longer do you think you can hold out? Because the truth is with the way things are going now, unless something gives, much of Europe will be conquered in less than 2 generations. |
A former National President, Academic Staff Union of Universities, Prof. Festus Iyayi, was killed in a road crash in Lokoja, Kogi State, on Tuesday. Iyayi, who was said to have left his Benin base on Tuesday morning, died after a vehicle in the convoy of Kogi State Governor, Idris Wada, crashed into his vehicle that was conveying him and his colleagues to the National Executive Council meeting of ASUU, scheduled for Kano. The meeting is expected to deliberate on the Federal Government offer to end the four-month-old university lecturers’ strike, which started on July 1. The accident was said to have occurred a few kilometres after Lokoja, the state capital, around 10.30am. "Adieu prof. I can't believe I won't be seeing you again on this side eternity. Kogi state governor, how many lives will you take before you leave office? It wasn't long ago you had a fatal crash in which someone in your convoy died and you sustained some fractures. When will our office holders learn to be more humane on the highways?" May every blood sucking office holder meet their just comeuppance. |
I gave mine to NCCF as CAPITATION . God bless rural rugged. |
* thinking about what the carnival is all about.an idea comes to mind. check a dictionary* MODERN DICTIONARY OF THE NEW AGE MOVEMENT . CALABAR CARNIVAL,THE : A Pagan festival, reminiscent of the early Olympic games that had to be banned because of the o.r.g.i.e.s & various other depravities that were associated with them. Think things are going to get better ? Don't count on it. Everything is going to get worse as the world heads to a cataclysmic end. |
@ advocate . Sold your soul to the devil, did you ? What are you ? Dr Faust ? Anyways I can't tell how far you have gone ? I can only hope you haven't crossed the rubicon . Even if you were joking you are obviously sliding down towards it. I can't say you're irredeemable . I shudder to think of the possibility. |
advocate666: holysmoke indeed. If you'd notice I did try to make it clear that while America appears to be the issue the implication is far reaching. There's an ongoing war of cultures & perspectives. I have tried to be circumspect but the discerning mind will understand what I'm talking about. I'll not be surprised if you don't . Your name does speak of a diabolical leaning. whether it's borne out of cynical humor or an avowed commitment to the sinister is what I can't tell. whichever be the case, I pray you don't reap the proceeds of such ill informed ideas. |
@ plaeton . Debateable ? well what isnt? you didn't explain which other world view will champion equality, freedom of speech etc. These same core Judeao-Christian values where held @ some point in time by most western nations. maybe not in its entirety but yes all the same. A well known philosopher & atheist (can't remember his name now) speaking on Ghandi said, " it is doubtful that the mahatma's method will have worked were it not for the conscience of a Christianized nation." This was someone who didn't believe on God saying it was the Judeao-Christian leanings of the British empire that allowed Ghandi have his victory . The same thing happened during the civil rights movement in America. Only someone blind to the truth will think that the gains of the struggle was only because of their commitment to non-violent struggle. Where else could that have happened ? That a people will challenge the status quo and be given the privilege to air their dissatisfaction? Go and try that some place else and see what will happen ? @ jeniud. everyone has a role to play, true. But truth by definition is exclusive. Rather than pray to some ill defined "god" with an ecclectic mix,why not do away with the whole thing ? |
Did anybody watch the US presidential inauguration? I was interested in watching it, looking out for some major things like the prayers. Now I'm one of those who have beheld America's gradual descent into a moral abyss. They are moving farther from the principles of their founding fathers; principles that were wholly based on Judeo-Christian beliefs. People may choose to believe what they want . The truth is that no other world view or religion could have built a nation like America. Talk about equality, freedom of speech, freedom of worship... go to some of those countries where America is villified you don't dare have a contrary view. So America remains the hope of the free world. And the only way that can continue to happen is if they do not reject the old land marks. Alas there has been a relentless attack on the core values that made it a great nation. This has been going on on several fronts. One of these has been to criminalise conservative Christian values and attempting to desensitize the populace to " other world perspectives ". In fact one of their very own (can't recall her name) was quoted to have said , " Fundamentalist christians are more dangerous than Al qaeda ". So that has been the spiritual descent of America exemplified by today's prayer at the inauguration. It was one of those NEW AGE STYLE INVOCATIONS that tries to appeal to Jesus,Allah,Budha,Krishna,Olokun etc but leaves everyone in doubt as to its whole purpose. The woman who led it was a civil rights activist. Four years ago it was Rick Warren pastor of the saddle back church. She rounded off the prepared prayer which she r.had ead from a book by asking , " in the name of Jesus and all who are holy" . America truly needs prayers. I hope those who understand the far reaching implications of this will do what they have to do. And this is not just about America. As I said , America represents the hope of the free world. If it is overwhelmed by a rapacious counterperspective what do we think will happen to those of us in Nigeria ? God save America. |

I don't live in America but from the little I know of it the cost of med school is nothing like what is obtainable in Nigeria. Students take loans to study which they pay off over time. You're still better of writing the qualifying examinations in Nigeria. Have you checked their websites ? I think you should. |
The same reason that makes politicians want to make enough money for generations unborn. That makes policemen seer their conscience with a hot iron just to get by. There are still sincere Nigerians though. And they are not as few as many would have us believe. |
kingphemy: Chinese phones are also good. What people didnt know is that the chinese ships substandard, poor-quality to Nigeria because they knew that people will buy it. The good ones are manufactured for their market and quality-oriented countries. I bought an Android Tablet PC from china online directly from the manufacturer. Mehn...the phone is superb and it cost me only 15k with shipping.First really enlightening post. Very true. Why anyone would want to buy any of the substandard made-in-china trash that have flooded our markets amazes me. Chinese make good stuff but they can't be found in our markets. Our coniving, duplicitous dealers will make sure of that. I'm ashamed to say I've used a Techno phone before and it was far from impressive. Now I'm using an HTC inspire 4G all I can say is chinko will always be chinko. Even they look up to the west when the chips are down. If you can't get a good deal directly from a reliable manufacturer over there, then by all means pick a more reliable make instead. |
No it's not possible. please tell me our govt hasn't started this year on the same clueless note. |
Standard common tests available for retroviral screening include "stat pack" and "unigold". a negative test from either means you don't have the antibodies. If you test negative 3 months after exposure repeat the test 3 months later. if you're still negative it means you are. the other test done which is not readily available is the PCR. That has the advantage of detecting the antigen even before an individual starts to elaborate antibodies. You really don't need that. if after 6 months the other tests you do still say you're negative then you could safely believe that you are provided you remain unexposed to risk factors. |
As much as you did well in bringing us the info , please, you didn't have to post pictures of the dead. what is it with all you Nigerians and your fascination with the morbid? That was how people rushed to the scene of the Dana crash & started taking pics of the victims, hampering whatever relief efforts may have been made. Please, exercise caution in posting such gory pics . |
A conversation between a doctor and a person living with HIV/AIDS in an HIV clinic on a day like any other; Doc: So, how are you doing Mr.... Patient: Doc, I'm not feeling too good. Doc: Are you still taking your drugs? Patient: No. I stopped them a while back. Doc, I think I should tell you. I'm not into girls. Doc: By that do you mean you're a homosex- ual? Patient: Yes. Doc: So you're a homosexual with HIV/AIDS you've stopped taking your medication now you have this condition. How exactly may I help you..... Don't ask me how I chanced in on this conversation. The moral of the story is that we have a growing number of persons living with HIV/AIDS in Nigeria who are homosexuals. Individuals not on medication,(which although are not curative, will reduce the viral load, enable them live a reasonably normal life, and make them less of a risk to society)have refused to be and are not in any way ready to give up their lifestyle. studies have shown that homosexual intercourse is a far greater risk for transmission of HIV/AIDS when compared to heterosexual intercourse. As if that is not enough the average homosexual is far more promiscuous than a heterosexual . While a philandering young heterosexual male may consider himself a stud for having 2 girlfriends and 3 other ladies on the side ,all of whom he sleeps with. Making that say 5 different ladies he may sleep with in the course of the year, a homosexual young male on the other hand as a necessity has several men he may be said to be sexually intimate with. Add this to several individuals he meets regularly in different hotels and what you have is a ticking time bomb. In fact, the average young homosexual male may by nature be said to act like one with a death wish. Not even HIV positivity has much of a restraint on him. As if this isn't bad enough, some still have girlfriends on the side . Thus; we have a savage cycle of HIV/AIDS infection and re-infection. They have so many underground groups & NGO'S who seem only to tell them to accept themselves for who they are. These groups dole out lubricants to them, sponsor research into microbicidal agents that would make anal sex less threatening. But how can these stop them from reckless behaviour and from constituting a menace to the larger society? We cannot possibly win the fight against HIV/AIDS untill we address the challenge posed by this group of individuals. we ignore them at our peril. If we just keep on hating and attacking them we will only further drive them underground. While we must maintain zero tolerance to homosexuality in all its faces let us know that only a power beyond them can break them lose from this destructive habit. Are you there and you're a homosexual? Is it possible that you've bought the most common but very false excuse that goes, " God made me this way. I didn't choose to be like this" ...? Well I must tell you , that's a lie and you know it. |

people just want to find someone to put the blame on. gamers, gun control, etc. America needs to turn back to Jesus period. more of such crimes will still happen. |
Is it not possible for us as Nigerians to petition the UN against accepting this move by the Nigerian government to spend our money with reckless abandon? If we mobilize well enough we could embarrass G.E.J & put an end to this madness . |
SHOKOLOKOBANGOSHAY . A nonsensical word manufactured by the colonial imperialist & used in 'spelling' classes to teach supposedly dumb African children. Never had to spell it myself though but they say Obasanjo flunked it @ elementary school. |
This story first made the headlines over a year ago. I actually thought it was a repeat of the same feat only to learn it was one and the same. Nothing so bad in a rehash, just make it clear dude. |
yes igbos can be arrogant, mischievous, loud and downright nasty. but the truth must be told. they suffered a great injustice from the rest of the country and nigeria should own up to it. I'm from Delta state and while I do not claim to be ibo my sympathies often lies with them. let's be honest, subjugation should always be resisted but who would you rather be oppressed by? hausa/fulani or the igbos. I dare say that if igbos had held the reins of power like the fulani have this country would have experienced far more advancement on all fronts. |
There was this commercial on T.V many years ago? A Bank or Insurance company Ad. The song went something like this; "Sanusiiiii, wherever you bee, sanusii is the name to remember." I wonder how long we'll remember Sanusi's name. |
Sad. He wasn't that old. But then given what life expectancy is in Nigeria, My condolences to the family. |
So many humans on the planet but so few know where they are going. |
