Tropilo: Most Ijaws have trad names but the names are usually long.
As for Hausa/Fulani, besides Late Tafawa Balewa and Aminu Kano, i doubt if there's any with complete trad names till date.
Try Badamasi Babangida, Sanni Abacha, Namadi Sambo, they r fully indigenous.

labiola: What is wrong with us? Must we attached politics to everything? Am sorry if some of us continue to think this way, am afraid the future of the country is danger. The news reported was. 500 hectares agricultural development, the only thing that came to the mind of someone is that Amosun is paying back to Tinubu. Why can't we think outside the box?. Let be sincerely with ourselves some state governors are working. I was in a programme last week with Govnor Fashola as a paper presenter and Amosun was also present. The chairman of the session was one of the committee members appointed by Fashola to look for a land for rice plantation, Fashola has put in place the machinery for mass production of rice. It was the committee that discovered the land in ogun state. It was the chairman that pleaded with Gov Amosun that they have discovered a land and they want him to approve so that they can complete their job. We this, ogun state people will be employed and rice will be available for all. Hope you are aware that there is going to be food shortages in Africa a proactive government should start doing something to mitigate against the effect.

@ thelastpope,

u have been making so much noise since the first page wt u emotional posts. truly, d ban is painful for many reasons, but doesnt it outweigh its proliferation? my friend, take chill pill, in another 6 months time, people would hav adjusted and sanity will b better on d roads. i am sure people were like this too when BRF went breaking stalls and turning shanties to flower gardens in d first tenure, but later we all appreciate d present looks to what it was. nobody develops by not taking painful steps, so this is one of many to come.

i guess u hav some okada dt aboki boys ride to make "delivery" for u, dont worry, just re-invest in danfo and taxis, they r more profitable now.

get used to it and move on friend, afterall, its no sign of retrogression in any way.

by d way, most of d "aboki" boys r not Nigerians, they r illegal aliens. they hav only gone back to their places to continue wt their lives. i'm not being insensitive, just dt "d party is over".

PoliticsRe: Obasanjo, Fashola At Loggerhead Over Seized Vehicle by homerac7: 7:18am On Oct 25, 2012
ocelot2006: You still think the LAGOS govt can issue a court warrant to search Obasanjo's farms? As in Baba Sege?! Hehe..boy, you'll be in for a treat. 'cos I can assure you that no one in the security services will honour such warrant. So who will the LAGOS state govt use? LASTMA? Now that will be fun to watch. After the soldiers and DSS/SSS operatives at Ota Farm kill on or 2 and force the rest to frog-jump from one end of the farm to another, you'll know that there're levels of power in this country.

Anyway, why do I even bother? LAGOS state buses have been seized in retaliation, and they (I.e. the state govt) still don't have the cahoonies to call the Ex-President to order. Now that is power.
pro01: Bros you're going too far sef. Forget about countering or overruling any order. The point is that Fashola lacks the constitutional/de jure/de facto/political power or influence to issue orders to ANY federal law enforcement/security outfit in Lagos, let alone the military or SSS. He can only issue orders to uniformed ragtag miscreants such as LASTMA and 'KAI'.

On the other hand, OBJ may no longer be the Commander-In-Chief, but he, in his UNIQUE position as OBJ, possesses the de facto power to issue informal directives - directly or indirectly - to the military and the SSS to do a favour or two for him. Heck, many of the key GOCs, Brigade Commanders, and perhaps service chiefs may be his 'boys'. In fact, the service chiefs would be very careful with OBJ. Who knows whether GEJ relies on OBJ's advice to appoint his service chiefs? After all, this man SINGLE-HANDEDLY installed the Commander-In-Chief (GEJ) - in the same manner that Tinubu solely installed Fashola.

Only naive children would argue that Fashola is constitutionally more powerful than OBJ, since, in their infantile/simplistic thinking, OBJ is 'merely' an ex-president with no executive powers. That may seem true on paper, but in reality it is far from the truth.

I pity Fashola though. The 'feelers' I am getting from a few sources within a particular cantonment in Lagos isn't nice at all. So many things they are holding against the fool called Fashola - the Okada ban (even within GRA Ikeja where many soldiers used to do part-time Okada business in the evenings) is the latest addition. These army boys bear grudges like the mafia; they never forget. The masses would give them a helping hand in Fashola's case. If he has any sense left, he would flee into exile on May 29, 2015.
if u both want to see who is naive, go stand before the mirror.

gra-gra is not proof of power or wisdom. u both talk like secondary school pupils, honestly. all ur mentionings of former C-in-C, former ds, former dt, is nothing but empty ramblings. where were all his former powers when Amosun confiscated lands he illegally acquired under Daniel?

U both r so brainwashed wt brute force mentality dt u don't even know d first thing about power and authority.

I repeat to u for the 3rd and last time, all Fashola really needs do i get a court warrant to search OBJ's premises based on what i mentioned earlier, and he has damaged OBJ's reputation all over d world. to correct u, LASG does not issue warrants, only court does. if u still don't understand what that means, ask a lawyer to tell u d implication of raising a warrant to search a big man like OBJ's premises for "stolen items". If u both r knowledged enough, u would know dt an Abuja court issued an "invitation" to George Bush over Halliburrton scandal. i leave u to go find out how d matter ended. That's d almighty US ex-president, who according to ur okada -park argument, could hav claimed former ds and former dt and dare any madafokin Naija police to come all way to his Texas ranch and enforce d invitation.

Forget all dos beer parlour talks of soldier boys complaining, dats all dey will do-complain. by the way, LASG is not responsible for them. they hav colleagues in PH, Aba, Akwa Ibom, JOs and other places where okada is equally banned. And again, what will dey do? will they make a coup? abegiii, dat one na rubbish beer parlour talk.

ocelot2006(m): Court Order? For Obasanjo?...LMAO!!

You do know you're talking about a VERY influential ex-president and elderly statesman, right? Oya, the buses from LAGOS have been seized na. Let Fashola, the Ogun state govt, and even godfather Tinubu bring their warrants. Then we'll see whose stronger-mere state governors from the opposition party, or the PRESIDENCY. Go on.

If u had not quoted my post, I would hav allowed you to go on and wallow in your many printed fits of ignorance and bad education. you don't know the first thing about law and governance, yet you went on speaking from all cardinal points of your mouth without recourse to cognitive exercises. But i will forgive you and explain this to you just once.

Like I said earlier, all he needs do to drag OBJ in d gutter is just get a court warrant to search for "stolen items" that r property of LASG in his premises. Then "leak" it to the press. You have ruined OBJ's reputation internationally beyond repair. By then, even GEJ will thread with caution because all eyes will be on the news and they also want to know those associated with it. If you are educated or old enough, u will know the magnitude of that titled document and what it can cause.

Now, it will get worse if they find the LAGBUS or just a paper bearing LASG name on it in or around d guys compound. everything dt happend then-after is just story. he has successfully destroyed OBJ. Thats the implication of such "simple" move.

u ask how that will b executed? pray u never fall into hands of a sitting executive who means to ruin u.
PoliticsRe: Obasanjo, Fashola At Loggerhead Over Seized Vehicle by homerac7: 8:24am On Oct 24, 2012
kennytidistar: in your ignoramous world you have defend a sitting governor right?

the federal high court @ ikoyi discredit the law that create lastma and other lagos traffic law as illegal and contrary to the constitution and the law that bind the whole nigerians which fashola also sworn to obey. source later, he state that only the law court has the right to inposed fine on any seized properties, and that lagos state cannot be it own judge. therefore obasanjo knows what he is doing. he can even seized more BRT it is allowed. and if you prove me contrary let fashola go to court and expose his folly.

and again dont even compare OBJ with any sitting gov because it is incomparable, maybe is because you have not go far beyond lagos. you are talking childish.
If going "far beyond" Lagos will make me silly and ignorant as you have shown so far, then God forbid I go "far beyond" Lagos.

Mind u, I was born in heart of Egba-land, and had my education in the midst of the Owus; right net door to OBJs mother's house and I grew up not far from his father's village. U can read my footnote to know my place of nativity. So keep ur going "far beyond" Lagos and deification of OBJ to urself.

On your court verdict on LASTMA, u got it so confused that u sealed it up that your god, OBJ has powers to seize state property...r u ok? Honestly i don't have personal problem with Mr Olusegun Obasanjo, but i have a whole big issue with senile men sowing seeds of lawlessness they may not live long enough to reap in full, also with sheep like you that can't think critically.

FYI, OBJ is simply Mr Olusegun Aremu Okikiolu Matthew Obasanjo, and nothing more!

kennytidistar: some of you who have not being to baba farm before. that place is cleaner than anywhere in Nigerian that place is mini london but nobody can enter there anyhow that place na barrack it you like get warrant soldier go fire your life i'm sure with the seizure of these brt bus fashola will know what his guys has done even though he pretende initially, okada riders are ready to bring lagos down. he close his hears to the poor that pays is food allowance, travelling allowance, medical allowance, and salary. fashola is an ingrate rat.
listen and learn!...there r two people u must avoid fighting, God and the King (Government).

If u know the enormity of powers of a governor in Nigeria, u will know that if only Ogun state governor should take on OBJ, he will literally go on exile from the state. Only a SITTING president, under the present arrangement is more powerful. don't be deceived.

Fashola may ignore him for now among many reasons which includes the running battle with okada people which will surely fizzle out in maximum of a fortnight, so he may not want to take on two "powers" at same time. But remember he can always come to take on OBJ at his own time. Mistake many of u r making here is thinking that Fashola is the underdog, whereas OBJ really is! Fashola will dictate the scale, venue, time, umpire and strategy of the fight if he chooses to tango with OBJ on this matter. There r one-thousand-and-one ways of him slapping OBJ down on ds area-father misdemeanor.

LESSON: NEVER EVER YOU UNDER-RATE OR CROSS A SITTING GOVERNOR WHEN YOU ARE NOT READY TO LOSE!!!

so many comments showing the root cause of the unfortunate situation Nigeria found herself in.

first, i don't believe d story. otherwise OBJ would hav simply played into d hands of d Fashola by doing so. Imagine Fashola getting court warrant to go search OBJ farms and all his compunds in Lagos and Ogun (afterall, na ACN dey there and they will gladly join in d fray to finally humble OBJ). That will create so much embarassment for him that he will lose lot of respect and goodwill he's enjoying in international circuit. Whatever happens afterwards from PDP federal power will b a bye-news and at best, damage management for immediate time. But by then, OBJ would hav been fully dragged in mud by "children".

I don't think he would want to risk many possibilities of humilation in hands of those governors. so i don't think he would do this.

PoliticsRe: Jonathan Intervenes In Mali Political Crisis by homerac7:
jp philips: sounds good, but not the right play. From the events in Africa, most African countries do not recognize Nigeria beyond the ebb where we have always been except in times of crisis. we hardly get their support in any regional tussle, so going to play big daddy is just being ambitious.

there are other countries in Africa that are militarily superior to Nigeria who should form the "head man" for ECOMOG or whichever regional police therein.

the issue at hand is equally a national security concern for Nigeria and that is why we would not sit on our hands,
however, Nigeria should support all efforts to the Malian cause through covert arms supply, funding etc.

sending our sons and daughters to Mali is not an option. it will be more politically suicidal for Jonathan already plagued by Boko haram at home,to think he can withstand the offensive of alqaeda backed by islamic mahreb, should they launch a reprisal on Nigeria.

same people supporting this move today will be the same calling for his head when a terror attack claiming 3,000 lives happens on Nigerian soil.

joboy, be wise
oga, ur position is weak against Nigeria's foreign policy as it concerns West Africa and Africa in general.

secondly, it's not just a foreign policy matter, but a real and imminent threat; a cancer; an infestation; a syndrome that if it dare goes unchecked, will grow, consume other nations around and look us right in d eyes to eat us up. it's a war u either fight abroad now and likely win, or fight in ur home later and likely perish.

Which "more militarily superior" country is to act the "head man" in ECOWAS region other than Nigeria? and, which other major militarily competent countries is affected enough to lead the operation in Africa apart from Nigeria? Do u know the first two mission commanders of UNMISUD (UN Mission in Sudan)? Maj. Gen. Okonkwo (NA) and Lt Gen. Martin Luther Agwai (NA). by your line, one would expect Gen. Ali Mohammed of Egyptian Army or Gen Julius Muleke of Ethopian Army, isnt it?

Al Quaeda has 2 major hot spots in Africa, Somalia and Mali. UN, EU, AU, NATO and other major alliances r battling Al Shabab in Somalia because of how d local problem has created internatinal shipping problems due to security risks in Gulf of Aden. Hope u know also that it is entrance to d busiest sea gateway in d world - Suez Canal. Do u know d international political c.u.m economic effect of stifling a gateway? Ask Nasser of Egypy when he blocked it during d Yom Kippur War.

FRom above, Mali is an infestation dt must not be allowed to spread. unlike Somalia, it is in a region of mainly unstable and semi-stable nations. with little effort, u will end up having a Sahara belt of unstable region. only little time more will make the relatively more stable ones like Nigeria, Ghana, Benin, Togo and others to collapse into d cesspit of evil. Now u have d impending big picture. by the way, do u know how long it took the rogues to take over the vast swath of northern Mali? No, ...not years, ...just a matter of days!

Nigeria isn't just playing a big brother here, but standing in to her role in time of necessity. Did I hear u say Big Brother role hasn't benefitted Nigeria? My friend, u must b joking. The squabbles with Nigeria isn't a challenge of authority, but fear of total dominance. Do u know who represents African in the UN security council after a rigorous campain and politricking? ...or do u think they just allowed us on some concessionary ground? I will understand if u say that we haven't made the maximum benefit from it, but as bad as it is, when Nigeria sneezes, West Africa catches cold, and the other African nations quickly bring out their "baba blue". Otherwise, ask South Africa after two major diplomatic slaps dis year alone.

My brother, i can go on and on and on, but one thing i will like to establish is that Nigeria might be many things, but its not for ordinary that other need to form "gangs" to b able to oppose us.

Peace bro
