PoliticsOndo AAC Candidate Urges Residents To Be Calm After Party Substituted Name by Honbright(op): 2:59pm On Aug 26, 2020
By Tunde Olorungbotemi, Akure

Samuel Tope Omotoso, AAC governorship candidate in Ondo state has called on entire Tosho faithfuls, Ondo citizens and Nigerians at large to be law abiding after INEC, party had allegedly substituted name for the October gubernatorial election in the state.

AAC Candidate, in his statement: "Despite party affiliations of lots of my supporters with other political parties, they have been standing by me to see the entire status quo of this nation changes for better.

Several groups and associations have kept their solidarity toward this movement solid as they all see this as an avenue for the entire youths' voice become heard in our society. We had seen hope in the eyes of the entire populace at large immediately after the peacefully conducted AAC primary election where it goes to the book of history as the youngest gubernatorial candidate emerged. This singular act has given lots of people great expectations in the forthcoming election

But this hope became shattered right after the pronouncement of one Mr Adeleye Adekunle Peter as the governorship candidate instead of Samuel Tope Omotoso, who won the primary election was substituted as the deputy governor. Immediate actions were taken as the national Chairman was met at the national headquarters in Abuja. This situation was promised to be savaged but to our surprise, they left the names on the ballot unchanged,"

"This is extremely sad as lots of individuals have already lost hope to witness the beginning of a new era. All these had happened accompanied with the fact that I have been very truthful, honest and see everybody as such. This entire scenario has left me to shock and I cannot begin to act without adequate consultation in all ramifications," he said.

Omotoso hereby implore you all to be law abiding, steadfast in solidarity and await our next line of action as it would be unruly to go wayward without proper arrangements. We are all civil and matured and should be seen as such. I appreciate you all for your love for Ondo State and unending support for Tosho. May Almighty bless you all, Statement reads.

FamilyNigerian Man Abandons Wife & Kids Over Blue Eyes As Wife Narrates Ordeal by Honbright(op): 10:42am On Aug 07, 2020
By Tunde Olorungbotemi

A Nigerian woman whose husband abandoned her and their kids because they have blue eyes has narrated her ordeal.

A student of the University of Osun, who travelled to Ilorin for the Sallah festivities, brought the family’s plight to the limelight after she shared their photos on Facebook, VOICE AIR MEDIA has gathered.

Alabi Afusat explained that she met a family who is naturally blue-eyed and their eye colour made their father abandon them.

The family’s story went viral and the mum of the blue-eyed girls, Risikat Azeez-Ayegbami – who is also blue-eyed – shared her story.

Risikat, a mum-of-two from Kwara State, told PUNCH in a viral video obtained by VOICE AIR MEDIA that she was born with naturally blue eyes. She explained that since it was unusual, her parents took her to the General Hospital where a series of tests were done and it was revealed that her eyes are perfect.

She explained that as she grew older, concerned people kept commenting on her eyes and advising her parents to take her for a medical checkup.

While in primary school, she said her teachers invited her parents and asked them to take her to the hospital to check her eyes. She explained that when her parents took her to the hospital again, the doctors did tests again and told her that there is nothing wrong with her eyes and they are just naturally blue like that of a Caucasian.

She added that the doctors gave her lots of gifts and told her that they love her eyes.

“I can see clearly and there’s nothing wrong with my eyes,” she said.

A relative also explained how Risikat used to be invited to the General Hospital when she was a child just because they were fascinated by her eyes. The relative added that the General Hospital used to “compensate” Risikat for honouring their visit.

Risikat grew older and got married. She gave birth to three girls and all of them inherited her eye colour.

However, she explained that her husband, Abdulwasiu Omo Dada, had a problem with it and abandoned them as a result.

She said he loved her with her eyes at first but after she had their first child and she was born with the same eyes, their relationship changed and it became hard to have a conversation with her husband. It got worse when she had her younger daughter.

“When I had the first baby, it became difficult to have a conversation with him. Till I left with the children, we didn’t have a conversation.

“Whenever I attempt to have a conversation with him, he would get angry and walk out on me.”

She said that when she got pregnant with her second daughter, things were so hard for them that they couldn’t afford food or medical care. She began going to her parents’ home to eat and when it was time to have her child, her parents paid her hospital bills.

The second baby came out with blue eyes too and at this point, her husband’s behaviour worsened. To make matters worse, his parents also expressed their displeasure with the eyes of his children.

Risikat said: “Even his parents were asking him if he was going to keep having children with blue eyes.”

She said her husband began leaving home for days on end. Sometimes, he will be away for a whole week and wouldn’t leave money for his family.

She said she began eating at her parents’ home again. After the child’s christening, she said her parents asked her to leave her husband.

She said that since she left, her husband has not shown up to ask after her or their kids.

Meanwhile, the actions of the security agencies have been condemned by civic groups and many Nigerians.

In Lagos, journalist Agba Jalingo and 18 other protesters who were arrested during the protest were released Wednesday evening.

VOICE AIR MEDIA gathered that all the 19 protesters that were arrested in Lagos had been freed, according to a lawyer, Inibehe Effiong

However, it was a different story for seven protesters in Osun state who were kept in custody after their arrest.

However, our reporter gathered that the arrested activists in Osun are yet to be released at the State Security Service custody.

Mr Bakare was arrested alongside Dunsi Olowolafe, Abiodun Sanusi, Gift Martins, Martins Jesuloni, and two others in Osogbo on Wednesday.

A lawyer to the Osun protesters, Alfred Adegoke, also narrated to newsmen his experience in trying to secure bail for his clients.

“We got to the SSS today to check on the arrested individuals but the overzealous SSS did not allow us to get them released. They have gone to obtain an order to detain them for 14 days,” Mr Adegoke said.

This newspaper could not obtain the details of the remand order allegedly obtained by the SSS, as of the time of this report.

PoliticsThe Danger Of Having A Bully As A Leader:Osun State Commissioner As A Case Study by Honbright(op): 9:13am On Aug 04, 2020
Author: Adejumo Kabir

“He who wishes to be obeyed must know how to command” – Niccolò Machiavelli

It is no longer news that the repeat of what happened in the military era is fast becoming the order of the day in Osun state following various supervision of attacks on citizens by the state leadership.

I wasn’t really a surprise to hear about the recent act of Adebayo Adeleke – Osun State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs who allegedly ordered the beating of a DailyPost Reporter on Monday while enforcing COVID-19 order.

It may not be wrong to conclude that the commissioner lacks the understanding of Section 22 of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigerian 1999 as amended which provides that: “the press, radio, television and other agencies of the mass media shall at all times be free to uphold the fundamental objectives contained in this chapter and uphold the responsibility and accountability of the government to the people”.

It must be noted that any leader who tries to withhold information or control the flow of news has power to set the nation on fire. Hence – Osun is sitting on a time bomb waiting to explode if Mr Adeleke is not quickly called to order.

Already, he has a strong history of bullying even before Monday’s saga. This same commissioner witnessed the beating of the Agboowu of Ogbaagba, Dhikirullahi Akinropo but refused to condemn it. Despite multiple sources confirming how Oluwo of Iwo, Abdulrosheed Akanbi attacked his colleague, Mr Adeleke who is in charge of chieftaincy affairs took the part of a tyrant.

The commissioner never appeared when invited to give his account of the incident. He claimed to have traveled – only to be seen shortly after the meeting. Leaders don’t sit on the fence when obvious facts are available. But because Mr Adeleke knew that he has the tendency to be more brutal than Oluwo, he boycotted the meeting.

I recalled that Agboowu with water dripping from his eyes asked Mr Adeleke to swear by Ogun (God of iron) if he never witnessed the attack on him. Arguably, the commissioner did not. It is certain that if he had done, Ogun would have also done the needful.

While it is right for the state government taskforce on COVID-19 to carry out their activities, it is incorrect to turn the enforcement of Coronavirus order to an opportunity to extort and harass citizens. The DailyPost reporter observed this and decided to do the needful. Rather than listen to the reporter, Mr Adeleke led taskforce unleashed attack on the reporter. When ordinarily a good leader with good listening ears would have intervened, the commissioner in his own wisdom felt the reporter works for the opposition, hence, he should be delt with.

When did radical journalism become a sin?
When exactly did exposing the fact that the public need to know and holding authority to account become crime?
It is sardonic, pathetic and disheartening that despite pictorial evidence, Mr Adeleke maintained that he never witnessed any assault. Sure, Elders don’t lie they say but the commissioner indeed adjusted the truth with his defense.

Mr Adeleke needs to be told that it is time to start tolerating pens that bleed rather than those pens that praise-sing him even after goofing. He must be told the truth that reporting has gone beyond the act of writing, editing and publishing of news stories on blogs. Journalism is expected to expose the irregularities in the system such as human right abuses, oppressions and illegal acts of stakeholders that would not have been read anywhere else.

He must first understand that unlike most politicians who are after personal interests, passion and a sense of nationalism still motivates a generation of wide-eyed – young journalists to practice core journalism in Nigeria. The beating of DailyPost reporter by Banik led JTF on Monday simply signals that more attacks may be recorded in future. But he should be reminded that Henry Anatole Grunwald says “journalism can never be silent: it must speak, and speak immediately, while the echoes of wonder, the claims of triumph and the signs of horror are still in the air.”

Journalists are arguably moralists and are expected to speak out when there are traces of inequalities in the country. If the profession is no longer a weapon to fight oppressors, corruption will trend and untold stories will never be known and Franz Kafsa says “Don’t bend; don’t water it down; don’t try to make it logical; don’t edit your own soul according to the fashion. Rather, follow your most intense obsessions mercilessly.”

I have read the commissioner’s rejoinder but it appears too watery to be addressed in this piece. Rather than address issues, he was addressing tissues. I am certain that Mr commissioner will again see this piece as a sponsored post rather than have a rethink. Rather than paying folks to write another rebuttal, do the needful.

According to Obarayese who sustained serious injuries on his left elbow and right leg, the operatives were allegedly ordered to beat him by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Adebayo Adeleke when he was taking reports of the harassment of some members of the public by the security agents.

The reporter in his account with OsunDefender said that several residents of the state were harassed by the security officers who were hitherto mandated to mete out fines to erring members of the public.

“I was taking pictures with my phone when they were harassing those who didn’t use a face mask. A woman was reporting that they had beat her and I was recording the woman.”

“The Joint Task Force led by Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Adebayo Adeleke approached me, asked why I was taking pictures. I told them this a public place and also informed them that I am a journalist.

“In the cause of bringing out my ID from my pocket, a policeman attached to the JTF said “you are mad, where is your ID card” and wanted to snatch my phone.”

“Four policemen attacked me and started slapping and hit me with a baton in my joints hands and leg. I fell and they were matching me. To my surprise, I heard the Commissioner for Local Government and chieftaincy ordering them to beat me and take me along with those they had arrested.”

“I was later released when some journalists at the venue approached them.”

Obarayese has been treated at the State Specialist Hospital, Asubiaro, Osogbo.

All efforts to reach the Commissioner proved abortive as calls and text message to his phone number were neither answered, acknowledged nor replied.

Meanwhile, It would be recalled that on July 13, 2020 some officers of the Osun State Police command, brutalized the chairman of Osun Online Media Practitioners Association (OOMPA), Jare Tiamiyu.

It was gathered that Tiamiyu was on his way to his office in his private car when he was stopped by the policemen who were in mufti along Okini-Osogbo way.

Tiamiyu asked to identify himself but the policemen accused him of being arrogant in his response.

The journalist told Newsmen that he was slapped by an officer who also threatened to implicate him by planting a pistol in his car.

Tiamiyu added that his Phone and laptop were seized at the point of the assault.

It was gathered that the seized properties was returned to him after battalions of pleadings and bundles of apologise from the police quarters.

Ondo state Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) chapter has revealed the plan to adopt the embattled deputy governor, Hon. Agboola Ajayi, as its governorship candidate for the October 10, 2020 governorship election in the state, VOICE AIR MEDIA has learnt.

The party’s Publicity Secretary, Hon. Felix Olatunde confirmed that it had resolved that Hon. Agboola will run on its platform, despite Peoples Democratic Party’s insistence that the embattled deputy governor remains a valuable and committed member of the party, Daily Metro News NG confirmed.

Recall the Deputy Governor had joined the PDP in June, 2020 to contest for the ticket of the party, just a month to its primary election. He Left the APC to run for the governorship ticket of the PDP, but was defeated by Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, who was also the party’s candidate in 2016 election.

Following his defeat in the PDP primary election, Hon. Agboola’s movement to the ZLP had been a rumour following his meeting with leaders of the party, especially the former governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko.

The Publicity Secretary of the ZLP, Hon. Felix Olatunde, confirmed in a telephone chat with reporter that barring last minute changes, Hon. Agboola Ajayi would run as the party’s candidate in the October 10, 2020 election.

He said the party was in the final stage of Hon. Agboola’s adoption and subsequent substitution of its candidate, Rotimi Benjamin, who won at the party primaries and whose name has been submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission.

VOICE AIR MEDIA noting that PDP on Saturday released a statement, through its spokesman, Mr Zadok Akintoye, they denied that Hon. Agboola was heading to the ZLP, saying that the deputy governor remained a member of the party.

The PDP statement reads, “For the avoidance of doubt, Mr Agboola Ajayi remains a member of the PDP and has not informed the party of his intention to leave and remains a well valued and respected member of the party.”

“Please note that clarification on the allegation has been sought from the Deputy Governor and assurances given to the leadership of the party of his intention to stay in the PDP.

“We, therefore, implore all members of the party and the general public to disregard the information as H.E. has assured the party leaders and elders (on his honor) of not leaving.”

He added that the party’s efforts at winning the next election were ongoing.

However, Hon. Felix, in a telephone chat with Daily Metro News NG, said the party’s machinery had secured the assurances of Mr Benjamin’s willingness to surrender his ticket, owing to the fact that the ticket still remains within the Federal Constituency, as he would be substituted within the prescribed time frame provided by the electoral act.

He said, “The deal is almost concluded, HE, Hon. Agboola Ajayi will be coming into the party as our gubernatorial candidate for the October 10, 2020 governorship election.”

“As soon as the process is concluded we will come out with a communique in a former press conference, as we are still dotting the I’s and crossing the T’s.”

He added that the ZLP remained a disciplined party and would have no problems getting Mr Benjamin, who currently holds the ticket to relinquish it for the good of the party. The Agboola movement is beyond Ondo state, its the third force that will rescue the people of Ondo state. He is a grassroot man, who had risen through the ranks & political movements in every of his political attainment in life.”

“The party’s decision is supreme, and we are disciplined party and we are sure that the development will come to fruition.”

Hon. Felix noted that the party was carefully fine tuning the process given the nature of the politics in an environment where the process could be truncated by litigation. And that he is sure of the Deputy Governor’s candidacy of ZLP and that the PDP is only living in illusion.

PoliticsOndo AAC Gov Candidate Knocks INEC, Detaches Self From Provisional List by Honbright(op): 10:19pm On Aug 01, 2020
by Tunde Olorungbotemi Akure

The Ondo state deuly elected AAC party Candidate, Samuel Tope Omotoso has detached himself from the widely report circulated via INEC official Twitter account.

Omotoso expressed dissatisfaction with the INEC's decision to replace his name with another illegal and unknown name as the AAC party Candidate in the INEC provisional list.

While speaking with newsman in Akure, Omotoso said, "how on Earth would an already conducted primary Election result; supervised by INEC Officials (both state and federal level) become another thing entirely at the point of broadcasting to the populace? A name was fabricated as the governorship candidate while the rightful flag bearer was imposed with a deputy position

This is arrant nonsense and it shows that this dispensation do not want youths at the helm.

That I am the youngest of the aspirants do not give anyone the effrontery to shove my name off the governorship list"

"I outrightly detach myself from such report circulated via the INEC official Twitter account. I, Samuel Tope Omotoso remains the sole flag bearer of AAC and I will not succumb to any sort of intimidation from anybody whatsoever."

CareerHow Olumide Akpata Broke Jinx Of 30-year In NBA by Honbright(op): 10:30am On Aug 01, 2020
...My victory for young lawyers, says President elect, Akpata

By Tunde Olorungbotemi

Analysis of the just concluded election of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) as a long time jinx was broken on Thursday night, 30th July, 2020.

The last time a non-senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN) was elected president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) was in 1989. Charles Idehen, who was NBA president between 1989 and 1991, was succeeded by Clement Akpamgbo (SAN).

Reports gathered that Akpamgbo did not complete his tenure, as ex-Military President Ibrahim Babangida appointed him attorney-general of the federation. Priscillia Kuye, the first and only female NBA president till date, succeeded Akpamgbo but she was not elected.

The non-SAN took over the leadership of NBA which was later affected by crisis that followed the June 12, 1993 presidential election.

However, In 1998 when normalcy was restored, it was Thompson Okpoko, a SAN, who took over leadership of the association and the SANs kept maintaining the leadership of NBA till the emergence of Lanke Odogiyan, a non-SAN, in 2005.

But just like Kuye, Odogiyan was not elected. He emerged after Bayo Ojo (SAN) quit as NBA president to serve as attorney-general of the federation under the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Ever since, the NBA has been on the race to halt the dominance of SANs at the helms of affairs, not until 2020 when Olumide Akpata, a 47-year-old lawyer, emerged as president.

Akpata’s victory in the election could be attributed to different factors; one of which is the desire for a change in status quo. Before the NBA election, young lawyers were all over the social media, highlighting reasons why the dominance of SANs needed to end as far as the association’s leadership was concerned.

AKPATA: My victory for young lawyers

The President-elect of the Nigerian Bar Association, Olumide Akpata, has described his election as a victory for young lawyers.

VOICE AIR MEDIA earlier reported that Akpata emerged winner of the NBA presidential poll conducted electronically between 11pm on Wednesday and 11pm on Thursday.

With 9, 891 votes, Akpata defeated two Senior Advocates of Nigeria, Dr Babatunde Ajibade and Mr Dele Adesina, who polled 4,328 and 3,982 votes respectively.

In his acceptance speech on Friday made available to VOICE AIR MEDIA titled, ‘Let us secure the future through a united Bar that works for all,’ Akpata said his victory was for young lawyers and lawyers who felt marginalised in the NBA affairs.

He said, “The victory of last night is for our young lawyers who have become disillusioned with the way the NBA had been run over the years and how the profession appears to be disconnected from the challenges that face them and their future.

Akpata, however, said there was a need for improvement in the NBA electoral process, promising to see to such improvement during his two-year tenure.

The NBA switched from manual to electronic election in 2018 and this year’s was its second experience.

Though a total of 29,636 lawyers were accredited to vote in this year’s e-election, only 18,256 succeeded in casting their ballots.

PoliticsPDP Fails To Save Embattled Dep Governor After Leaving "A Divided House" In Ondo by Honbright(op): 10:19am On Jul 23, 2020
...What's Next after moving away from "poisoned space"?

Author:
Tunde Olorungbotemi, Akure

The embattled incumbent deputy governor of Ondo State, Mr Ajayi Agboola who currently dumped the ruling All progressive congress and his principal for People's Democratic Party to contest the election, has gallantly lost to Eyitayo Jegede SAN who was the 2016 governorship candidate of the party. Eyitayo Jegede SAN defeated the deputy governor with 231 votes.

Details of the results obtained by VOICE AIR MEDIA, are as follows:

1. Eyitayo Jegede SAN 888 votes

2.Hon Ajayi Agboola 657 votes

3. Dr Eddy Olafeso 175 votes

4. Dr Bode Ayorinde 95 votes

5. Banji Okunomo 90 votes.

6. Solo Ebiseni 29 votes

7. Godday Erewa 14 votes.

VOICE AIR MEDIA has gathered that Sixty four invalid votes were recorded out of two thousand and eleven delegates.

...What's Next for Agboola Ajayi after moving away from "poisoned space"?

The deputy governor, while officially decamping to PDP on June 22, 2020, described the APC as a " Poisoned space" he needed to move away from.

According to him, the APC was now like "a house divided against itself in Ondo state, adding that party was having breathing difficulties because one man was kneeling on its neck".

After announcing the results, the aspirants congratulated the winner in line with the memorandum of understanding earlier signed by them, and promised to work for the success of the party.

Embattled deputy governor, Agboola Ajayi, who was the first runner up has reacted to the outcome of the exercise.

However reacting, the Deputy governor described the primary as a good fight.

In a statement by Allen Sowore, his Media Adviser, Ajati noted that, “the people have spoken, and we accept the outcome in good faith, knowing fully well that it was a race against different forces.

“We remain undaunted and resolute about our commitment to a people oriented government against personalised democracy. We wish the good people of Ondo State and the winner the best as we March on. For us, life goes on,” Ajayi said.

Many would think that Ajayi, may be regretting dumping his principal for the People's Democratic Party (PDP) but do you think PDP honestly wanted to give Ajayi the gubernatorial ticket?

What's next? To save the state from "self ruling, one's family business, clannishness and primitive accumulation of illegal wealth under state cover"

PoliticsAkeredolu: After Defeating Top Contender, Olusola Oke In APC Primary, What Next? by Honbright(op): 3:39pm On Jul 21, 2020
It is no longer a breaking news that APC primaries has brought in the Incumbent governor of Ondo state, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu to face other candidate from various political parties in the October 10th, 2020 gubernatorial election in the state.

Recall Olusola Oke came second in the Ondo guber primaries that took place yesterday (20th July), in the state capital, Akure, polling 262 votes out of over 3000 delegates chosen to participate in the election exercise. Though, his second position was not significant as people who won 3rd, 4th and 5th positions were of close figures.

Akeredolu on the other hand, won in a landslide victory. It was as if he had no opponents. He polled over 80% of votes, having a total of 2458 votes.

Though he contested with 8 others, See those who also participated in the poll;

Isaac Kekemeke (former state party chairman)

Sola Iji

Olayide Adelami

Jumoke Anifowose

Ifeoluwa Oyedele

Awodeyi Akinsehinwa and,

Bukola Adetula

Olusola Oke seems to be a big contenders in the Ondo Guber since past 8 years now. And he is doing everything to make sure his dream comes true. Many people see him as a big dog in the game, especially people from the water side area of the state, but he his wiling to let whole people of the state to feel his potential impact.

But now that he is not getting the ticket to unleash his Leadership skills. How is he going to do this?

What Oke will likely do to keep the dream...

Recall that, In September 2016, Olusola Oke was also part of the APC primaries.

Olusola became third, Akeredolu also won the primaries and Tinubu supported candidate, Segun Abraham became second.

Olusola Oke in a bid to keep his governorship aspiration didn't have to wait long to decide, he defected to another party barely one month after, to continue pursuing his November 26 (2016) dream. Though it never came true, but it is better than none.

Fast forward to now, Oke has lost in the primaries again, and what this suggest is that he will likely defect to another party to keep the dream.

Reasons for my research..

Oke has contested in every Ondo Guber since 2012, and he still continues in 2020. He won't let it die in him, I am sure no obstacle will stop him to proceed. He prefer to lose in the main election than regretting he didn't participate.

Olusola can be easily predicted for how easily he loves to defect from one party to the other. Especially when the current party is not in his favour. The reason for most of his defection is that he wants to surely become the governor of Ondo State, and unleash his capacity.

Many people are seeing it as being 'too desperate', but he see it as 'quitters never win. Primaries don't actually mean one is a loser, the electorates will determine the real winner.

Buhari aspired for presidency three times before he got it. Oke from his actions, believes that he will become the governor. So he would not want to lose any chance to continue in the guber race - this could be his time.

Let us watch out for the next few weeks update in the media, Oke will likely defect from APC and move to another party to keep the dream.

Chances that will work for Oke to become governor, if he wills to defect.... https://www.voiceairmedia.com/2020/07/ondo-2020-after-apc-primary-have.html

PoliticsState Of Osun Doesn't Exist Anywhere Other Than In Governor's Car, Nowhere Else by Honbright(op): 2:28pm On Jul 18, 2020
...Oyetola’s Aide says name doesn't exist anywhere in the ministry, Osun and Abuja

by Tunde Olorungbotemi, Osogbo

Osun: The Governor's aide on Education, Honorable Jamiu Olawunmi, has revealed that the usage of "State of Osun" created by former governor of the state who is currently the Minister of Interior of the Fedeal Republic of Nigeria, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, doesn't exist anywhere in the ministry, Osun, Abuja and has no basis in the law of Nigeria, VOICE AIR MEDIA reports.

Special Adviser to Governor, Gboyega Oyetola revealed this in an interview session with Insight Media in Osogbo.

In a video Obtained by VOICE AIR MEDIA on Friday.

Special Adviser to the State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, Honorable Jamiu Olawunmi who was a very close associate to the previous administration of Ogbeni Aregbesola for eight years insisted that the phrase ‘State of Osun’ doesn't exist in "the letter of the Ministry".

According to report, his principal, Governor Gboyega Oyetola who was the chief of staff during the previous government for eight years still maintain "State of Osun" as his official seal since he assumed office and has never for once condemned the usage of the name, his SA on education maintained it doesn't exist.

Recall the phrase ‘Osun State’ was reversed to be known as State of Osun during the first term of Aregbesola which generated lot of controversies within the state and at the federal level.

Olawunmi said, “What I know and the correspondences have read through that occurred in the last nine years of Osun, any letter we are sending out of the state carries Osun State till now.

“I don’t know when we have written the world bank in the last ten years where we wrote state of Osun. And I know international best practices compel me to say the truth.

“My governor when he get to Abuja they call him governor of Osun State, they don’t call him governor of the state of Osun.

“All these things we have two courts judgement now that said there is nothing like state of Osun which I think we have not appealed.”

Responding to question on how his ministry is being addressed, the SA said, “This is Ministry of Education, Osogbo, Osun State.”

Christianity EtcEkiti Youngest Bishop Says Coronavirus Pandemic Will Soon Be Over Only If..., by Honbright(op): 7:17am On Jul 18, 2020
By Tunde Olorungbotemi, Ado-Ekiti

Bishop Michael Oba Oro, the General overseer of Good rock of salvation spiritual church of Christ Aladura, Ado Ekiti, Has urged the federal government of Nigeria, state governments and the Christian Association of Nigeria(CAN) on need to work together to combat the coronavirus pandemic stressing that only prayer can cure the virus at this trying time, VOICE AIR MEDIA reports.

In a statement made available to Newsmen in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti state capital, Bishop (Dr) Micheal, Oba Oro said the coronavirus pandemic battling with the world will soon be a history if government and CAN should work together to fight the deadly virus which has killed over 700+ persons in Nigeria.

Bishop Micheal stated:

"The lord spoke to me that Christians allover the country should come together as one and pray against the coronavirus pandemic, things might be worse than this before normalcy return but hopefully soonest this pandemic will be a history.

I see that the virus is very much real but people won't believe and prayer is the only antidote that can cure it so that things may not be worse than this in 2021 and 2022 as you can see Our children are at home, Business organizations is not fully operational, religious and public gatherings are banned and if care is not taken things might not be as expected hence there is a need to come together as one and pray because prayer is the master key and to achieve this we must be in unity and see political differences aside.

God also reveal to me that 2021 will be a great year for Nigerians, things might be difficult at first but it will end swiftly."

I urge state governments to lift the ban on religion gatherings so that Christians can pray as the word of God is very essential, it is the spiritual food to grow in moral, wisdom and knowledge and persons between the age of 12- 65yrs must be reconsidered according to the word of God in the book of Matthew 19:14 which says But Jesus said, “Let the children come to me. Don't stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.” and also Psalm 127:3; Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him therefore it will be of ignorance to deny children access to worship centres.

A child's heart has a tendency to do wrong, but the rod of discipline removes it far away from him. This is why we need to bring them to church so they can hear the word of God more to change their thought.

Government says they are protecting the children from death, they should also understand that spiritual food is very important for their upkeep especially at this time that crime rises on daily basis, teenagers should be allowed in churches only if accompany by their parents with social distancing rules.

EducationColleges Of Education Staff To Commence Strike Action by Honbright(op): 7:40am On Jul 16, 2020
By One Class

The Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU) has given the federal government a 21-day ultimatum to address pending issues or risk industrial action, VOICE AIR MEDIA has received.

The union listed the pending issues to include the refusal to effect third party-deductions in most colleges of educations (COEs); ‘double standard’ deployed by the ministries of labour and education against the COEs relative to other tertiary institutions and imposition of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).

In a statement on Wednesday, obtained by VOICE AIR MEDIA, the president of COEASU, Nuhu Ogirima, said the government had failed to address the plight of the colleges “one year after it sent a memo detailing the deplorable state of the institutions”.

The union also said most state governments have equally copied the federal government in the poor handling the affairs of the COEs.

“Consequently, administrative impunity and rights deprivation reign supreme in most of these COEs. The Expanded National Executive Council (ENEC) at its meeting of 8th July, is, therefore, forced to challenge the government to shut the teacher education industry since the quality of infrastructure, welfare and service delivery takes no preference in the scheme of governance at all levels,” he said.

According to him, “the ENEC wishes that you take notice hereby that should the government refuse to redress all the issues in contention within 21 days, the union would have no other option than to declare a nationwide industrial action.

“In August 2019, the association transmitted a memo passionately requesting the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), to intervene in addressing the plight of the public COEs system,” he said.

He said the memo was predicated on “decades of utter neglect of the COE system, which the federal ministry of education could not successfully address”.

“In response to our follow-up correspondences, both FME and FML &E had indicated that they were awaiting the President’s response. Sadly, we all are still awaiting the response, almost one year after the memo was received at the Presidency, the system further degenerates,” COEASU added.
