Honmusa is a pro in his work but we are all humans, we could actually miss a step it doesn't make one bad, it's just what it is.
Honmusa, you have to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the P1130 isn't the culprit please in a lay man's term you know I am too techy.
Cc GAZZUZZ, mayor2013, Kingreign make una come learn work actually i like this cos we are learning ,i will do another case to prove that swirl controls nor ecu are responsible !! I have actually solve similarly issue if u must know cc:ivoryhouse In addition that particular cylinder is already soaking plugs heavily !! |

nurey: You missed my modified comment because of the ban on the other moniker, the P1130 should not be over looked at all in actual fact the symptoms you describe of the car actually points to that direction.
The swirl valve is the cause but not because it was damaged but because the ECU was faulty which left the car in limp mode. The same guy who tackled this issue change the cam sensors, plugs, air filter, played around with MAF. The actual culprit was ECU and after that the car passed the 2rpm on its own your own analysis is damaged ecu or swirl control ?? |

Costee: I intend to enter no polemic either, but I think in dismissing P1130 you proceeded by killing a fly with a sledge hammer. Scour the net, and you'll find it characteristic of the Pathfinder and QX4. Everybody who had it solved it because they found it ultimately easy. The Pathfinder of your client had all the symptoms. In no instance was was the worn piston/engine oil theory a causative factor (at any rate, they would always use the"recommended oil" , and neither was there a need for a whole engine to be replaced because of that small valve and gadgets working with it. A misfire code can be triggered by many many things, and I think by making it the central path of your diagnosis in this case you predetermined your conclusions. Endeavour to check that code (P1130) well and be convinced that it plays no part in this issue before advising your client to change his VQ35 engine. Why you intend to disparage/denigrate it as a "reference code" I'll never understand. I have and do understand Nissan's Factory Service Manual (not owner's manual), so I know what I'm about. I don't intend to say more..............Well, until perhaps the next Nissan case categorizing P1130 has a reference means that there is nothing wrong with the sensor involved it is working perfectly !!Engine computer automatically triggers some DTC if it cannot place where the issue is coming from !! I hope to have my own YouTube channel very soon when all this can be shown practically cos something cannot be shown on forum except live video but I will still send some screenshot to prove this assertion!! Hope the issue of P1130 has been settle once and for all !! |

praxisnetworks: Really? So the next thing na engine change? Just like that? I am of the opinion that you went overboard sir. Yes it is butter pill to swallow cos some considerable cost is involved ,emotion will set in natural but should not be allowed to cloud our thinking faculty. we need to be objective and logical in some decision making not to sacrifice standard and safety on the alter of era of buhari ecocomy!! 1. No magic can make a genuine and manufacturer spec standard engine overall become exactly like the manufacture built engine and will incur near the same cost. (This is low end engine overhaul not top end) !!! The resources that will goes toward sourcing for a good tokunbo engine like almost new for that particular engine will ultimately be cheaper than going through the time consuming process of undergoing genuine engine rebuilt that will rival manufacturer standard . It will eventually be a win win situation for us and customer in term of quality and cost which is part of our mission statement 2.In autologic ,we are so conscious about safety and quality and we are not ready to compromise that #safetyfirst !!!!And to minimize return jobs to zero!!#quality We want to minimize your cost as much as possible which is why we made huge investment in diagnosis to minimise wrong part swapping!! |

nurey: I think I may have talked with the owner of this car before. Just a thought process.
It's good to know a Nissan expert is around we have a few murano and altima/maxima going for 100k I believe it's time to occupy your workshop with them.
If it's only cylinder 4 that has been affected, why don't you change only that or the rest of the cylinders have started showing worn out symptoms? I am a Nissan fan and Nissan is my first baby !!! Let me use this profile to answer your question (my other profile Autologic has been banned I don't why )cc :marpol In my workshop ,it part of our business policy not to engage in engine overhaul that is peculiar to low end part of engine (engine block ) as this is a confirmed worn piston ring issue . Secondly ,the other cylinders are already following the same route ,so it better the fix is applied to all the cylinders once and for all However if it still top end engine rebuilt ,we will readily do the job!! The owner readily agree to go with the engine replacement!!! |

I have a 2005 Sienna, AWD, and completely out of the blue, Reverse works perfectly, but NO forward gears work!
Fluid level okay. Tested Cold and Warm. Shifter cable is connected at dash (shifter) and at transmission. There is no MIL/CIL. Hooked up to OBDII and it hasn't thrown any codes.
170K Miles. Original owner. Never towed trailers.
This is the only post I've seen where Reverse works, but other gears don't....
Thanks. Reverse work or doesn't work ,all these are symptoms ,same symptoms can be as result of different reasons . Take your car to a transmission expert to check for u !!! |

Akgelo2k: For the car gurus, while driving my car I heard a chirping sound so I parked the car and checked the bonnet..noticed my timing belt was slipping off, tried fixing it back and continued my journey only for the car to finally stop.called my mech checked it and noticed that one of the pulleys on which the timing belt rolls(the one reponsible for turning the engine) had broken..he replaced it..however 2 days later the exact same thing happened again...so they opened it up to find out what's making it break...turns out a small key which helps keep the pulley in place had worn out..so this was changed along side a new pulley...after coupling everything, they started the car and heard a cracking sound, on 2nd attempt, the engine could no longer turn...so they loosened everything again..noticed that one of the teeth of the sproket(thats what they called it) upon which the timing chain turns, had cut...4 valves had broken and another 4 were bent...so my engine top was brought down and sent to someone else to replace the valves and "ground" them(dunno what that means)....this was done and the engine coupled...it started but was shaky (couldn't rev smoothly)...the nozzles were cleaned, plugs changed and ignition coils checked(were fine) still the problem persisted..i scanned my car and it gave me P1349 error..they cam to a conclusion that it was from the valves (that the man did not "ground" them well)...so the system was loosened again and top taken to the man to finish his work......after coupling....now the car could not start but the engine was turning fine...
An electrician checked it out but could find the cause of the problem...he said there was no "current" entering the ignition coil/plug area...scanned the car again..this time it showed no error codes ( which is very odd coz long before now -2yrs ago I had error code for a faulty oxygen sensor which I intend rectifying by getting a new one)..he concluded by saying that the problem is either from my "starter sensor" or my "brain box"....pls how can I suddenly have a damaged brain box from all these...for a car that has never given me any problem since 2011 that I got it.. Meanwhile before he(electrician) came, we got another "starter sensor" from a toyota spider engine(same engine) and tried but the car still didn't start... please I need help..would be grateful if any1 can offer a lasting solution now coz i'm so confused as to what to do Thanks This is a long one ,I can't even take everything inside !!!,this is a peak of kazeemisation !!! as mayor have said ,sack all kazeems, get another engine and do a fresh start !! Word of advice :Don't ever let any kazeems touch your car again ,their fee might be peanut but their handworks can cost you the whole car!!! |

My approach to this kind of issue will be more advanced diagnoses cos scanner and meter are useless in this case !! The waveform of the cam and crank sensor will be generated with my pico and their relationship(correlation) will be compared from there I will get all the information I need if truly is a timing issue or sensor issue even without removing a single bolt.!!! elijah101: I need help .. I noticed that there was no oil at all in my toyota camry 012 model .. and i serviced not quite long .. towards the ending of Last month .. what can i do ..what do you think the problem could be .. i am thinking maybe the guys that did the servicing at the Fuel station did not tight the oil place well .. that was what made it leak .. and i poured the little oil remaining from the servicing .. and it just leaked a little and has not since then as i am checking .. but i have stopped driving the car though .. If you car is leaking oil externally, you don't even need a guru to check that for u cos you will see the oil leak under where the car is parked or sign of oil leaking around the engine area but if there no sign of such then you need to if the leak is internal . And to check rev the car to almost redline while you tell an assistant to help your check the colour of exhaust coming out of the tailpipe, if you have white smoke then that indicate internal leak due to worn piston ring or worn valve assembly. Also patronizing low quality oil that evaporate easily can also make you to lose oil unnecessarily. |

johnsnow2016: please I need the help of Nairaland car gurus to help me analyse the present condition of my car. i observed little black smoke and I was told that the car will be burning fuel.
car name: Toyota Camry 1995 engine size : 2.2 4 cylinders
I have attach two images below for better understanding.
I bought fuel of 2k. ( the level of the fuel in the first image)
I drove from PRAYER CITY in Ogun state to OJODU BERGER and I return back to PRAYER CITY. I was able to cover my journey to and fro in 30 minutes...
The second image indicates the Level of the remaining fuel and the distance covered .
please is the car consuming excessive fuel. car experts
mr nurey mr gazzzuz mr honmusa mr mayor others....please help Black smoke is enough indication that the level of consumption has gone to the extreme and you need to resolve this issue ASAP to prevent damage to the expensive catalyst .And clogged catalyst will spell doom for your engine in the long run. What is responsible for this high consumption is as a result of output response of your engine computer (brainbox ) to flawed input signal from sensors. First step towards the fixing is to go for diagnosis in a recommended auto techie and the diagnosis report from there is what will guide the repair process. |

Wristler: Good day everyone... I am having the same issues as with the Op, just that this car is a Nissan Primera P11. Temp gauge stays in the middle, with no visible signs of overheating or coolant leak. I saw this thread last week and I did as advised, wch is changing the radiator cap. However, the issue persists.
Now my question is : Should the coolant reservoir tank be completely air tight? because I noticed there's a small opening along the upper part of the plastic tank Wch I'm not too sure if that's how it was made or a part broke off.
I've tried 2 new radiator caps now, yet the reservoir coolant level goes beyond the max mark. Pls what else can be done?
@ honmusa , gazzuzz, mayor2013 and all other gurus online The reservoir tank is designed to have an opening for self-bleeding so that is the design. Apart from the bad cap ,headgasket issue can also cause also cause overflowing of the reservoir tank cos headgasket leaking into the cooling system will build up unnecessary pressure into the cooling system Go for compression test to confirm the status of your headgasket!!Your cooling system need to be checked by a professional !!! |

holocron: Your article is quite informative. I have been following your submissions and I must say kudos to you for excellent professionalism and scientific attitude uncommon in this part of the world.
From your article, I am yet still a bit uncertain that removal of the themostat in certain cars operàting in a tropical climate like Nigeria can OVER COOL an engine. Maybe overheat, but over cool? For instance in your test case you compared an engine running on 30°C. How is it possible when room temperature in Nigeria is 30°C and many hot afternoons reach 40 to 50°C ?
And from experience, on certain smaller engines and single cell radiators, removal of thermostat does cause overheating in Nigeria, usually when the car is idling or in holdups. To give an objective perspective to this queries I will need conduct another round of experiment with a car and take some readings to drive home my points. So stay tuned!!! |
