koksybrown: Hello people, my 03 Accord checklight is always on contantly. My machanic says its the Catalyst that is causing and he wants to remove it to free the engine according to him. Pls whats your advice?
What diagnostics test did he run on the car to ascertain all this claims
Automobile require 4 things to start : free flow of air, adequate fuel ,good compression and spark that comes at right timing. Based on the data u provided . Spark OK,fuel OK and the car is able to start (compression is present ) but dies off (lack of airflow).
sola12: Tuale!!! To all the boss in the car talk section. Pls am thinking of converting my Sharon VW VR6 engine to a four plug engine. My "Kazeem" told me its possible, it will fit in and work fine also it will be more reliable and nt drain my pocket anymore. Gurus in the house pls should I go ahead with it? what are the pros and cons. Also which type of I4 engine can it be converted to and the cost. Thank you all
Go ahead na since it your kazeem that design the the two engine.just ensure that you have enough money to fund this white elephant project .
aizakun: I have checked the Nissan Primera is in LIMP MODE,i.e. it does Not rev past 3000 RPM but I notice that the ABS light is always on and it shows CHECK ABS on the display board and check engine, pls what do I do to make it accelerate
Don't disturb your self about ABS ,for your car type, its failure doesn't affect performance. Beside, look for your obd2 DLC if it is still intact.
mooa404: Heloo Auto Transmission/Rewire Guru. I bought a Naija used Sienna 2000 recently and I found out the gear does not pick well in gear shift two! The gear is sharp but when it shifts to 2, no matter how I rev the accelerator it will not speed up as expected. My Mecho said that there is no need for gear service yet. The following repairs have been done: 1) Fuel Filter & Pump changed. 2) Nossle serviced. The seller confirmed that he has once changed the ECU - Brian Box but he can not remember the reason for the exchange. A rewire suggested that the issue might be the wire connection on the changed Brian Box is not properly done in respect of the Gear. This issue has troubled my mind so much thereby coming up on this platform to seek help. Over to you the Egnrs.
Limb mode suspected .take this car to a competent and recommended technician to get the issue diagnosed .
timifakay: Did you watch the video or read all the values in my post at all? I don't understand what you are or pretending to be by shifting goal post anyhow.
never mind I will do this test soon and you will see what I mean .
I will appeal to all to contribute meaningfully with logical facts in a mature manner. We can argue intellectually without personal attack cc: oyefelix inception chukel
AutoElectNG: Will comment after going through factory information...no time now

1. The fuel trims both STFT and LTFT provided that they fall between 0 +/- 20% are said to be normal according to factory specifications. ECU will only set lean or rich codes if vehicle out of factory specifications range, but values in experiment by Gaz.zuzz within factory specifications, so there can be no lead code as speculated in this case.
2. Will address other part(s) of your query later, when I cross-check the other values with the documentation.
no sir ,fuel trim greater than 10 is sign of lean mixture for that model and thus already an issue ,fuel trim up to 25% will trigger P0171 which like point of saturation .wen I come out with my test later I will show you the proof
timifakay: There's a cost attached to the bolded part. While idle, the LTFT was the same in both scenarios, please check it again.
Besides, the essence of motion is to have varying RPM which I already did. Watch the video again or contact me on whatsapp if you want me to send it to you.
you have introduced a undesirable variable into the test by reving the car ,we need to take all reading from same condition of idle .This test is not valid .
kedonlink: After clean my 09jetta vw throttle, the movement of the car change cannot speed up. So I scan the car and get this code.

obekediamondfuto: oga wetin happen sef, which one is kids again? last time I checked elders respect themselves and others so they can be respected in return! everyone here is speaking based on their area of specialization, references and experience. those that refuse to take ur own r kids? which video exactly? do u know how many YouTube videos contradict themselves? are the video owners not professionals or self acclaimed experts? noro nu otu nga oh.
wen u try so hard to drive a point, it makes u look weak and unlearned and either poorly informed or uninformed. the bottom line is op should change intake body.
Sorry sir .You are free to believe in anything .I don't have that resource of time to engage in endless argument . Everything u say is right .
chukel: Mayor2013 and honmusa,u need to understand the concept of map and maF, what they measure and where they measure. Kudos to gazzuzz and obekediamondfuto
Can u explain why map was dropped in favour of maf in subsequent later model of Camry ,I want to learn from u .I am sure you are not born yet when I start to understand the concept of maf and map. Too many small kids in car talk this days ,no wonder Siena left for goods. I just put up a video now to show that 5S engine can run lean even with map sensor to prove that concept of map sensor not responding to vacuum leak is not applicable in this case .So what else again u need to hear
obekediamondfuto: the point of controversy is the idea if vacuum and air intake. map measures vacuum inside intake manifold (after tps) and maf measures air Intake ( before tps). note tps major role is opening sucking or allowing air inside intake manifold and closing.
now this setup doesn't have a maf just map that measures the pressure inside intake manifold with precision. maf would meter and measure the air being sucked in.
now with this ops issue of a broken or leaking AIR intake body I don't really see a lean code being thrown. all things being equal, tps et all. car would suck in the desired air and maintain absolute pressure in manifold and run normal albeit a little portion of the air being sucked in will be unfiltered (ops case as case study) pcv will be affected on the long run.
my two cents
Lol .Have u scan the op car to make such conclusion that there is no lean code and even if there is no lean code DTC ,you will see lean staring at you on the live data .So the main lesson of the video is Camry 5S is not using only map for fuel injection decision ,it takes decision from other input sensors cos normally how will it detect a vacuum leak even without a oxygen sensor even with well known fact that map only measure absolute pressure? Seems i will need to invite the ops for free repair to drive home my points
From the video u can see an evidence of vacuum leak and the engine managment system is still able to detect lean condition even wen the AFS is not even working. So how come ? The speed density fuel management system of a Camry 5s doest not only rely on only the map sensor data to supply the stoic equivalent amount of fuel injection for each amount of air ,It also takes data from TPS and other sensor. There is actually a preprogrammed algorithms inside the ecu that checks for all the sensors data to make a self diagnosis decision not based only the map sensor And how vacuum leak can cause engine performance issue is that is air leak will introduce more air into the intake system which will not be compensated by the fuel injection needed to balance the tps angle opening causing less fuel and more air (lean ) Vacuum leak in camry 5s engine will cause poor performance issue ,high rpm at idle and high fuel consumption . Practically,i have gotten many cases of camry 5S customer complaining of poor performance and high fuel consumption and the sole reason is cause of leaking air duct. Although Maf will be more affected than speed density but that it will not be affected at all is a capital No Finally ,the primary reason for map is not for fuel injection decision making only ,it also perform egr sensing
ShenTeh: My Infiniti Qx4 (Nissan Pathfinder) 97 model it is. Great vehicle, excellent engine and transmission but this issue is giving me the crackers.
It always goes off after driving for about 20 minutes. Doesn't stall, doesn't jack, just goes off.
Once restarted, it emits black smoke and one needs to keep accelerating to keep it alive. It would keep going off anyway and may normalise again for another 15 to 20 minutes before relapsing.
After scan, we got P0335, P0110, P0100 and P1035.
Feel free to ask me any question(s) about this.
I will appreciate any help.
Please your comments and suggestions are welcome.
change the crankshaft and camshaft sensors to resolve the ignition going off issue(typical Nissan issue p0335).Black smoke is as a result of issue with maf sensor and IAT which is most likely an electrcial issue with the connector . Best bet take it for proper and accurate diagnosis in any competent tech shop and if you need help with the resolution call autologic @08061166316
tsharp: Hi Guys. Getting this at a giveaway from a friend in the US. Scared I might struggle to maintain it here in Nigeria. Anyone have an idea about expertise/workshops, availability of parts and accessories? I live in Lagos.
If you need expertise on your american brand ,you can always contact autologic for your it .Autologic handles american brands and also help to source for parts.
The question should have rather be ,what is your own engine number when you check it on the engine bay cos is clearly written there .I am sure if you have taken that extra effort to confirm this ,even IG cannot take advantage of you .
Jusome: Pls friends I have a challenge with my Honda car baby boy 1999 recently I observed that it doesn't move when I shift the gear to D or R or any other side if the gear the car will remain without response to movement, I don't want mechanic to take advantage so I need foreknowledge of what possibly went wrong thanks
This is a case of transmission non- engagment ,u can start by checking roughly for flow pressure. Remove the hose that connect to the transmission cooler and check if there is any gush of atf flow pressure .Loss of pressure may indicate bad pump
You are putting the cart before the horse ,checking the atf colour should be your first step instead of changing sensors .Black and smelly ATF for oil fleshly changed is enough indication that your transmission is already toast .
Knock sensor malfunction will not make your pcm goes into limb mode .Beside you already stated that the gear will still shift after you rev hard so that so that nullified the fact that pcm is in limb mode. Check the transmission scan data
ugreat: I have seen what it is? I got a service manual which says its IACV
yes IAC (intake Air control solenoid ) is responsible for controlling the amount of air intake during idle to maintain the engine performance at optimum level regardless of load .
