http://saharareporters.com/2018/02/27/south-west-has-second-highest-number-stunted-children-nigeria-unicef South West Has Second Highest Number of Stunted Children In Nigeria - UNICEF The United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) has revealed that the south-west has the second highest number of stunted children in Nigeria. UNICEF Communication Officer, Blessing Ejiofor, speaking at a meeting on child nutrition in Ogun state attributed the high number of stunted children in the region to acute malnutrition. She revealed that 19.4% of children in South West are stunted, which is only second to what is obtained in the North. The United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) has revealed that the south-west has the second highest number of stunted children in Nigeria. UNICEF She said; “However, 19.4 per cent of children in South-West Nigeria are stunted. This figure is worse than the figure for the South-East and the south-south but better than the North as we would see during the presentations. This calls for more work by everyone – government and all of us. “As agenda setters, we must do more to keep child nutrition conversations on the priority list of those that can act to reverse this ugly trend. “UNICEF believes that journalists can help set the agenda for action against all forms of child malnutrition, be it severe acute malnutrition or stunting. This, the media can do by creating heightened awareness among leaders and citizens. The media remains UNICEF’s major ally as we work for every child, everywhere, to build a better world for everyone. 1 Like |

Personally I agree with the troll a little bit. Let’s not further divide the south east. Instead, let’s push for Anioma state. 1 Like |

Eastlink: Thank you for the information. I will discuss this issue with my grandmother when I see her again in 2020. It’s a sad situation being in identity crisis. I know that one day, those who denied being igbo when the situation wasn’t so favorable will eventually start claiming igbo after we become very developed and successful. My advice to those people is if you reject being igbo today, then reject it forever. Don’t come decades from now and start claiming igbo. That’s why I strongly believe that Igbos should pour all their energy and resources to develop Igboland. I can assure you that the prodigals will look back one day and regretting. 2 Likes |

Ndibunna: Wow sorry for your bad experience. But then again, I visited when I was young so you probably right that they have igbo identities crisis or igbo denial. I just never got that sense from my grandmother. 1 Like |

@ beachlife The reason why your presence here is viewed with suspicion is that throughout the history of this thread, there have been so many non igbo people constantly pretending to be igbos who have beeen trying very hard to disrupt this thread. This has been happening since last year and the Nairaland mods don’t do anything. In fact the Nairaland mods enjoy it because they are non igbos and don’t like igbos. There is a particular character that has multiple accounts that has been disturbing the peace on this thread for years. If everyone seems unwelcoming to you, that is the reason. 6 Likes 1 Share |

BeachLife: The river on the map is between rivers state and Akwa Ibom state. It’s only 23 nautical miles from the open sea. “The United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea now gives a landlocked country a right of access to and from the sea without taxation of traffic through transit states. The United Nations has a programme of action to assist landlocked developing countries,[11] and the current responsible Undersecretary-General is Anwarul Karim Chowdhury.” Please when you have time, read up on the United Nations laws of the sea Also barges are used all over the world to transport goods and commodities up the river. See the pictures below. A functional river port can be built at the southern tip of Abia state and goods conveyed with barges to the port. This is being done to all over the world as we speak. 1 Like

YungMillionaire: At the bolded A shaky union and a shaky relationship have one solution in common. They need to break up. Any union or relationship that is not built on solid foundation will eventually end no matter how much or how hard you try. The sooner we accept this glaring fact, the better for us and our future generations. 6 Likes |
