Don't know how you arrived at the above. EECC is being led by many igbos like prof Barth nnaji , Carl Uzo whose company built crown estates, he would build most of the private housing on that project.
They are looking for initial capital to enable the construction of the 8 lane road running through the city,to also build the new road from the city to owerri, enable aba ipp to run as well build a rail line to onne port. Trust me, Igbo business men would get their own cake of that city

You are very well informed. But I totally understand Igboson’s skepticism.

For those that don’t know, EEC is a majority private project. The investors involved are very serious about making it a reality.

I don't really have anything to prove to you. There is no burden for something that is as clear as daylight. The questions are simply but you are only interested in muddling up issues to sustain your revisionism which is already at a dead end.

Was Awo in prison in the Eastern region? Yes!

Was Eastern region under the direct command of Ojukwu! Yes!

Was Gowon legitimate in eyes of the Ojukwu and the East? No!

Did Ojukwu and the East take orders from Gowon? No!

Was it possible for Gowon to influence what happened in the East who saw him as illegitimate after killing Eastern officers! No!

Did Gowon command and control the police, prisons, and military in the East? No!

Who did? Ojukwu!

If Ojukwu controlled the Eastern military, paramilitary and prisons, then who unlocked the prison doors for Awo? Could it have been 'illegitimate Gowon' No!

Who did then? The man who controlled the Eastern military and administrative apparatuses, Ojukwu!

Anyone who can't get this simple issue very clear after breaking it down like biscuit-bones, is a lost cause. Revisionism can't work in this issue.

BTW, this is the one of Awo's book in my office right now in one of branches the others are at home.

My brother at this point, it’s not worth arguing with a revisionist. He has no evidence on his side but he will argue with you for the next 1000 years if he could live that long.

Thank you for setting the records straight for the younger children on Nairaland who are vulnerable to propaganda.

I think our people don't like development, look at the video shared it seems the Anambra airport is about to start but the community people are disturbing

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mb_QgDHB2I4

They are not disturbing. It seems that the government left the land that the community gave to them for the project and took a different land used by the people for farming.

They are not even asking for money. They want obiano and his crew to go back to the original land that the community gave them for the project.

Unless someone is lying or miscommunicating to these women on the agreement that the government had with the community.

How these people still spread propaganda that Gowon released Awo from the East he never controlled baffles me.

How can a Gowon a man who was persona non grata and couldn't even venture into the East, effect a release in a region that never took orders from him before the war?

The explanation is simple. The yorubas can not bear the shame of agreeing that the East released Awo who later turned back to support an atrocious war against them. It will make them look like evil ingrates before the world, so they are convenient to perpetuate the propaganda that Gowon effected a release in a region that never took others from.

Can Kim jon un effect a release of north korea prisoners in South korea? Now if a north korean prisoner is released from a south korean jail and Kim jon un takes a picture with the prisoner does it mean he gave the order that South korea must release him?

Even the picture was part of the propaganda in order to mobilize a North + SW comradeship as they went to war against the East.

Awo was also a writer, there is reason why Awolowo never wrote about his release in East in all the many book he wrote, which I have read. He lived a full 17 years after the war but couldn't muster the courage to write about his release. His conscience couldn't let him.

The way some yoruba twist logic to promote a narrative can made the devil shudder sometimes.

Drops the mic. Well said. Nothing else to add.

Aba maara ndi Aba grin

Aba and Onitsha used to be on the same level of development in the 1990s. There wasn’t much difference in the outlook of both cities.

After the return of democracy ( Nigerian version of democracy...lol), Onitsha left Aba behind and started developing rapidly.

What caused the major difference?

LEADERSHIP!!!

It’s important to choose leaders wisely.

But seriously, I don't like what u guys did here. How can u guys revive this thread without informing us? At least u guys should have reminded some of us on the Anambra and IMO threads. I've been following this thread since last year and noticed that the Op who created it had to quit due to unnecessary attacks from some monikers and since January I've not opened the thread. It was even difficult finding it because the name of the thread was even removed only for me to find it again and see that the thread has been revived with new photos and I didn't even know all these while. Now I have to start going back page by page to start from where I stopped because I can't even remember the page number I stopped lol

Easy. The thread restarted at page 500

so any recent developments about your Economic city?? like what's on ground now? as long as its in Abia state,, kindly forget it..

They have been working on securing financing which they finally did for the first phase of the project. This caused a major delay.

The International Monetary Fund, The African Import-Export Bank and the African finance Cooperation just release a loan facility totaling $450 million to kick off the project.

Also the host communities said that ikpeazu did not meet the terms for securing the lands for the project and they protested back in August. I think the issue might have been resolved.

At this point, i think we should be informed if they’re still sticking with the initial $2 billion airport as shown in the snazzy 3-D render, or if they’re going to scale things down a bit!

I suspect things have been massively scaled down.

Remember it wasn’t just an Airport that they were trying to Build. It was an Airport city with hotels, residencies, industrial areas etc.

Ignore those comments. Some people are very desperate to taunt Igbos with anything.

APC ruled a south east state for 8 years yet some people accuse igbos of not moving on.

These frustrated people are angry at igbos and will find anything to throw at Igbos out of desperation.

I am glad most igbos on Nairaland chose to ignore them.

Bayelsa election Kwa that average igbos had no idea was going on. This is beyond stupidity.

My idea for Igbo has always been manufacturing in the east selling all over nigeria

The sellers sale outside igboland ,return your plazas home ...the plazas, hotel ,mall u build with your profit should all be in Igbo land ....

In 20 years south east GDP would be 50% of nigeria gDP if we can do this

GDP per capital would be over 20k dollars

This is common sense but for some successful Igbo businessmen, it’s rocket science.

It’s only when bad things happen to them that they are forced to learn

shocked Igbos are not good in politics but the first black senator in Italy is an Igbo man. His party is even right-wing and anti-immigration. Nigerian politics is designed to promote the most useless ones to relevance (orji uzor kalu and rochas) and keep the best far from power. If that's the type of politics that one Nigeria is all about then yes we are not good at that type.

I have even lost count of how many igbos that have been elected in various countries this year alone. Imagine if I start counting the last 10 years.

IGBOs are very very very GOOD in POLITICS. They have proven it over and over.
