4chan is an imageboard (somewhat like this one) made up of many separate subboards. There are boards for most hobbies like sports, cooking and the like, video games, math and history, Japanese culture stuff, and porn, drawn or recorded. Since users can post what they like without making accounts and do not have to put their names, it has created a huge community of people saying things they wouldn’t otherwise. In addition, moderators only delete posts if they are off topic, spam, or child pornography, which allows a whole bunch of crazy and off color things to be said. The original users of this site around the late 2000s were mostly into anime, video games, and disrupting websites like habbo hotel for fun.
