Wow french city indeed is stupendous compared to what we have been reading here in Toronto and unfortunately we do not know anyone in Toronto and wifey is first pregnancy and will be risky to leave her by herself otherwise would've rented out an apartment for couple months. I did go through the forum again cos I thought i had read someone giving birth in Montreal but unfortunately its not the case, can't find anything. And the horror story i could find was one of our colleagues on here being turned away at Montreal POE for being pregnant and a potential birth tourist.



Ok thanks I'll keep trying. We did go to some place they referred us to and they wouldn't accept cash payment only insurance patients and a couple of hospitals more that said they don't take new patients or their doctors don't do deliveries anymore. I'm hitting a brick wall now.

What we are now seriously considering though is a birth center attached to a hospital in Ottawa which is a couple hours away and someone has offered to accommodate wifey. If all fails she has return ticket and we will come back home to birth, its not the end of the world.

Let your brother find a dr in London ontario or eveb get inside nd he will take u to u to his family dr who will refer u to a gynea.

My search keeps hitting a brick wall. My host helped call both Dr. Abou and Dr. Kayode. Both said they ve stopped accepting cash paying patients but we should check in another 2 to 3 months if this policy has been reviewed.

Oh I forgot to add the paediatrician visit for baby to be checked after 48hrs and his circumcision.

I went after 72hrs though. They just check baby’s weight and all.
I googled walk in clinics near me and used the closest one. It was $50 which I think it’s the standard. During this visit, vitamin D was prescribed as baby is exclusively breastfed and they don’t get a lot of vitamin D and seeing as we’re not in Nigeria for better sun to help us, I took the vitamin D supplement as recommended.

I’m aware that some people might not see the usefulness in this visit but as a first time Mum, some of my concerns were addressed at this visit and I’d recommend it to FTMs.

Dr asked us to come back after a week to just make sure baby had regained his birth weight and all. That’s an extra $50. To be honest, if not that my friend really really thought it was a good idea and even offered to pay lol, hubby and I would have just used a scale at home to weigh baby the old fashioned way. Again, use your discretion and or mother’s instinct.

Circumcision
Cost: $150
Dr used is a Jewish dr based in Toronto. He was recommended by a friend who had used him twice and had no issues. I did mine at day 5 and he did a fantastic job. No pain or discomfort afterwards and it all healed up after day 2. Let me just also add that it’s very pretty �

Couple of hospitals called and quote for Dr. fee is $3700 and mother and baby per day $5000 plus miscellaneous fees for any visits.

@hotstepper is it safe to use brampton and Dr Abou/Ayodele? Both hospital and gynae are 2 hours from my brother's place.

Also does dr Abou still accept international patients? I saw his number in previous threads but not sure i have seen Dr. Ayodele's nos. Can u pls help out with this?

Please pardon me if this post is not following the thread. I am not sure am doing a good job with finding my way on Nairaland. All the same, I am trying to provide some information for all those who are asking about having information on cost for delivery without insurance in Canada.

I was given the information that some hospitals have special reduced rate for women without Health Insurance coverage. The first thing then is to ask your hospital if they have payment plans for women with low income. Payment plans could be installment or a large cut off from the initial bill. In essence, dont be scared of the big figures you hear or see, you may not pay up to the big cost. They will need evidence you earn low and thanks to poor naira to dollar exchange ...all the big naira na small dollars. Your Nigeria payslip is enough for this I was informed. Having said that, if you provide me with the name of hospital , I could make calls for you to know their pricing and of other plans that will be beneficial. Good news is that, if they dont offer what is needed, they will refer to where such cheaper maternity services could be accessed. Anywhere in this place is good, the system works..no story...although some hospitals could have more facilities but basically...You will be fine...Pray also.

Secondly, about accomodation, I am not in a position to share right now but my place may be available for a month rent in June. If interested, let me know. I live in Toronto. I have been greatly helped by people I never knew and will never meet again in this life, so I can help make calls and provide the information for you to follow up. Making few calls wont reduce or add to my monthly phone bill, so no hassles.

As far as I know, the most qualified person is to apply, one application covers the whole family.

I currently manage my mums travel agency (no employment letter or anything). I am also a lawyer by profession tho on my own (business just registered this week). I intend to use d latter to apply for express entry. Process already in the works for this. But for the purpose of a trv, what do I say that I do and what supporting documents would i attach? If i use d agncy, since its mums business i dont have d usual employment contract, payslips etc. Also it will negate my plans to say i am a lawyer when eventually applying for express entry. At the same time if i use d lawyer with my newly registered business name wont it be as tho d business was registered simply for trv purposes?

Also huby wants to send me 10k usd as pof. Will this be enough if i already have accommodation in canada? How do i package this money such that it doesnt look like a sudden lodgement prior to one's visa application? Should he send it to my dorm acct which hsnt bn active in forever or shld he send to me in naira into my personal account which is more active? Should we use it to get tbills as it appears thats wot most EE applicants do for POF, or he should just leave it in his account and i use hs account statement?

Also will this money be enough for POF?

dear funkymum. I am just hearing that Dr Kayode does not take non-OHIP again. Can you double check, maybe ask hotstepper cause this is news to me. if this is the case, then go to a walk-in clinic and they will direct you to a doctor that accepts non-OHIP patients. If this does not yeild results then I may need to call someone outside this forum for advise.

We are here initially on vacation together and i will leave in a couple weeks but my wife will stay onwards to have our baby. I don't know if it helps that I reside in the USA. No questions asked regarding funds or any other things. Used automated passport control and was directed by a caucasian lady to border agent who is asian-like and normally i'm not happy dealing with asian-like agents.

If she has someone in Miss. then brampton is also a good option.

I applied for my visa Nov.15th and got the message to pick up my passport in January, exactly 55days after I applied. I have read on this very thread that some people have gotten their visas processed in one month; i have also seen one week processing time on this thread. So if you have the faith, I would say go for it...........

On hospital, Dr Ayodele of Brampton Civic is still taking patients at the old price of $3500cad for doctor's and $2600 for hospital. You would have to pay both fees to him immediately you register though. The doctors fees is for both Vaginal and CS. However, if you are having CS, you would need to pay for 2days hospital stay which is 2600x2=5200.

Missusaga is very close to Brampton, less than an hour depending on what part of Missusaga you would be staying; not bad in my opinion.

I think it will double it cuz then 1700 will be per twin as both wont be in the same bed

I intend to go ahead with my application regardless, I have a fit to fly and I've found 1 gyno in Mississauga who's willing to give me an appointment. my problem is that the costs at the hospital she uses is outside my budget. it is about 4500 CAD/day for baby and child.

You can help me with advice on which hospitals/locations I could get better pricing. I am ready to scour the area to find a gyno/midwife that will take me unless you have a recommendation.
