Please my people, dont allow me to talk and type too much via my email or here. Plz if you cannot read 31 pages to find simple information like dr information then dont email or ask the question again. Lets avoid repeating things.

I visit this thread to answer any questions to the best of my ability. The only emails i will be replying is that of those who has given birth and need my contacts no at the embassy cuz i cannot put his no here. Also those who r looking for accomodation. Other than these 2, any other questions should be asked here only when u have gone through the pages and feel you dont understabd or what you are looking for is not there then u can ask it here so others who has passed through it can help as well nd others learn .

Thanks

Lol. I heard ita better now as they brought new sets of people from Naija

gogochocolate:

I thought I was just unlucky. Those guys in Nigerian Embassy make mockery of what a consular service is supposed to provide. Imagine putting up phone lines on your website and not picking up your calls. Yet the embassy does not even have much traffic in terms of visa applications. Imagine if they were like the USA embassy that handles thousands of applications only God knows how they would cope. For crying out loud they are in Canada and not Nigeria and they see how things work here.

Plz pm me for the guys contact no. I cant remember the documents and he can tell u since he works there

princey83:

Could you please share what documents are needed?you said in one of your post that some documents are/may not be listed in their website. Atleast that would go a long way in helping people out. i know you said people can pm/mail you for the contact's number. The last time i sent you a mail was around 2-3 months ago, but you came back on nairaland to say you receive an alarming amount of pm and never replied. You live in ontario so you may not have it has bad as some of us that have never been to ontario and flying-in from a different province+renting hotels. Thanks.

Why go for the 2 when just 1 can take u to naija?

Demobanjo:
Congrats! I find that applying for a passport does not have to take very long too. The emergency travel doc is faster. I suggest you go for the two if you can.

You made the right choice. I dont know whats wrong with thebppl there . I think they even close at 1:30 while other embassies close at 4:30 lol.

If i tell u my experience with my son in 2011 ehh. Went to ottawa by road in the decembwr winter . Each time i go they tell me i am missing sumthing yet it is not on their website they first told me i should chexk and do my application and payment nd bring it with documents and come.

I alwqys leave around 4 am by raod with a child not up to 3 months old and rebooked flight up to 2 tines. The 3rd time i went there, told them my fligjt is in 2 days and i am not going to book it again cuz its money i am spending and time. God just brought one woman like that and helped me ooo. That was how i got the passport on thr 3rd day.

Whike in uni. I knoew friends who sent their passport for renewal in june cuz they wanted to go home in for xmas and never got it and no letter. After calling countlews times before getting someone, they were told that their passport in is Naija cuz they dont have the machine here to do it .

Nothing works oooo. Na so i just made friend there ooo. The person will charge u but it will be way easier, cheaper and faster if u were to go there in person.

gogochocolate:

Hotstepper. I have opted for the emergency travel certificate for my child as I understand it is much faster to get for my baby. However, I have tried reaching the Nigerian Embassy visa section for two straight days and believe me those guys are not picking their calls. The calls are just routed to voice mail without anyone picking it.I was even thinking the Canadian attitude and life style would have changed them but they keep proving me wrong. Please I would PM you for the guys number that has direct access to the embassy so that I can process it. Fly ticket to Nigeria has already been booked. Thanks again for all the work.
Travel / Re: Giving Birth In Canada by Hotstepper(f): 12:43pm On Jul 07, 2016
Congratations. I alwqys advise travel document and baby will get passport in Nigeria. U can google nigeria consulate ottawa and get to their website and see what is required. I dont trust the site anywqh with experience i had with my son.

gogochocolate:
Madam hotstepper. Thanks for the lovely work. My wife recently put to birth and has to travel to Nigeria wirh the baby in 3 weeks time. Please what document would-be easy to get from the Nigerian embassy in ottawa quickly to allow the baby travel to Nigeria due to time contraint. Should she get apply for an emergency travel certificate or Nigerian visa or get a Nigerian passport outrightly for the baby. Please I am a PR based in Halifax Nova Scotia and would not have time off work to make the trip to Ottawa for the passport or can the passport be issued without the baby being physically present at the embassy.

Drs information is not impirtant now since u have no visa yet unless u want to say in ur applicstion that u rconing for birth purposes .

Ur sis in law will google gynea in toronto esp thebones that have offices close to her and book an apointment when thrme time comes . Drs have offices outside of the hospital, thats how it is here

Danielakonic:

Now am happy that there's progress now. Aside Dr Grace, For her sister to get appointment details, will she just walk into any hospital around her to book appointment? And if we're to use Dr Grace, what's next is the step to take?

Am so happy for your explanatory response.. It's well understood.

Thank you very much

Thank you for asking the question here .

You dont have to come with your wife. When the baby is born, she will go to canada passport office in person to apply for baby's passport. Since you wont be present, she will be given a file no and you will be asked to go to Canada consult officeeither in lagos or abj. There, u will have something to sign just for them to make sure you are the father of the baby. You will have to go with an ID, preferably international passport. Once signed, the form will be faxed bk to the Passport office in toronto nd babys passport wikk be issused. Note, ur wife has to call them bk to make sure the signed form is bk to them. I know alot of people who has done this including me when i had my first child .

Your sis inlaw can help. There is nothing much for her to do anywayz other than maybe help her sister to book an appointment and give her the apointment details, drs name, no and addy . Since u say shes in Toro to, dr Grace is the best option. If her sister lives off campus then theres nothing wrong in staying with her .

Better u apply asap

Good luck

Danielakonic:
Initially am always shy asking questions in NL...Lot of insults and unwanted responses or maybe sometimes ignored. Well Hotstepper has encouraged me to ask this in public.. Please the house should support with answers.

Is it a must I travel with my wife to Canada to give birth? I read something in this forum that says "both parent will sign", and if in case I don't go, I hope it's not that it will now block my chances on going there in future if she should go alone. I have no travel history and neither does she have.

Secondly, my InLaw (Her Sibling) is an undergraduate in Toronto, 20yrs old.. Can we rely on her for the run around or as a claim that we have relative there to stay with.. In short, am a complete novice On this, I need your step by step guidance to start the processing.

Thank you

For transportation, buses dey if ubr going for drs appointment but when baby comes, better to use a taxi. When you call the taxi company, ask for flat rate to wher youbare going..its cheaper compared to when they use their meter

I also believe that paper application is faster. All the ppl that got throttle visa within a month did paper application.

jinnyz:
@ soletar

Me & my husby applied on 9th May 2016 and got our visa 7th June 2016 to our greatest suprise, we taught it was going to take longer based on what i have been reading. It was paper application via Abuja office. First time applying i was given 5yrs (jst had my passport renewed), my husby got 1 yr guess bec his passport was expiring next year. I think your location should determine the method of application you want to use. If you are residing outside Lagos or Abuja i will advice u do paper application bec even if u do online u still need to go to the visa centre and do ur biometrics and when your visa have been approved you will still go and submit it.

Hope this helps.

Ok ic. Well u have to ask ur host which hospital is closer to them. Plz it's the hospital of where the gynea u will be using is where u will have ur baby. We can't really help u in this one except ur host.

Ask your host so u can call the gynea and find cost details so u prepare very well oo.

jinyeid:

Hi Hotstepper, thanks for your quick response and usual support smiley

Actually they live exactly in Barber Dr in Georgetown, so when I checked on the map it's almost the same to Milton as to Brampton Civic, or am I missing something here?

isn't 3000 for the Doctor only is a bit high? I saw recently hermosa paid 1500 for a C-section delivery for Dr Grace!! I am Cesarean section as well by the way... why is it double the cost between this 2 doctors? is Brampton civic cheaper that Milton Hospital?

Congrats. First, I don't see why ur family that just moved from Vancouver won't be able to give u INVITE as I don't see the connection. However, go ahead and apply with the new person you got. I know someone who got IV from someone from Alberta but gave birth in Toronto.

I have a friend in Vancouver who recently had a baby though a resident . I will ask her for her gynea contact , hopefully she will share the contact with me .

Adetutuelias584:
Hi everyone,

My Name is Adetutu Elias, a new member on this thread. Alot of information that has being helpful. so much thanks to @hotstepper for all the information and the other group members.

I am just trying to put in my application for the Canadian Visa to go give birth. I am currently at about 17 weeks of my pregnancy.
My first challenge is that my family (based in Vancouver) I am planning to stay with just relocated about 3 weeks ago and they will not be able to give a letter of invite but thanks to God I got someone to do that for but not in the same state, this person is based in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Now my questions are these:
1. Hope my letter of invite contradicting where I will be staying won't be a challenge?
2. Does anyone have a doctor I can contact in Vancouver for an appointment? Please I will really appreciate that.

Other useful information that can will be needed in putting my application together will really be appreciated.

I will like to submit my application latest end of this month. Thank you in anticipation.

I just believe that my family friend was just too lucky to get this price. Yes Humber River has moved to Wilson. That Dr, Dr grace I still recommend if you wanna birth in humber river, Dr ayodele for Brampton ppl then another one for my area

voilasummer:

@Hotstepper
Thank you for all the info that you've shared.
I have few questions: (please help)
1. She used Humber River Hospital for the detail above right? (but now the hospital move to new building with new addy at wilson ave?)
2. Who's her OBGYN?
3. As I remember, you said you usually refer family friends to one of the 2 doctors you know right? It's Ayodele Kayode, Dr and who's the other one?

Thank you.

No Canadian Dr is going to give u a letter ooo. What you can do is call a dr nd book an appointment then have the Dr's info with u like doctors name, address, phone no and appointment date and time.

hello everyone,

1. Can we get doctor's medical letter before heading to Canada? to be shown to the POE officer?
2. Which one better for travel reason? tourism OR "others" with explanation: medical / giving birth?

They can easily find those documents on the naija consulate website but there's someone I know in there that helps them do it quick nd send back cuz most times what's on that site is not it at all and theyalrewdy have their return ticket nd all lol

So I won't put the person's no here but Dr's no I put up so they have it nd can call if they desire

justwise:

Ok i get that but im just wondering why that need to be private? Is the document not from Nigerian embassy?

Travel / Re: Giving Birth In Canada by Hotstepper(f): 1:27pm On Jun 02, 2016
Congratulations!

1. I don't know about the question cuz I am in ontario and GtA area. In this part of Canada is about 5500/6000 for VD . What adds to the cost is the no if days one stays at the hospital.

2. I so don't know. I will presume that CS will cost the same amount with VD for the doctor but you pay more at the hospital since your wife will be staying more than a day . Toronto will be cheaper as I think hospital is 25000 a day . I don't know how much for baby test so you are expected to come with test already done in Naija . You only get tested for here what they didn't do in naija .

3. Accomodation in general is expensive in Canada. Here is from 1000 nd up

4. Check with the airline to know when they won't be able to fly you. I will advise to come at about 35 weeks .I have someone that left 2 days ago afterv2 weeks of having the baby . This is cuz it was VD nd her hubby was around throughout her stay so he did the running around while the wife rested .

5. Budget 300 a month since u will cook in bulk . If you will make use of taxi then come with enough money but there r buses. Before baby u can use buses but after taxi is will be the best alternative .

I hope this helps and others who has gone through it can help you out too.

Good luck

Hello everyone,

I need help about information of giving birth in Canada.
Right now my wife is 25 weeks pregnant.
At first, we want to deliver our child in US, but we change our mind wanting to deliver our child in Canada (after a brief study about US citizenship vs Canada citizenship)
I have read a bunch of this Giving Birth In Canada thread.
I really grateful that I found this thread. And I really hope that someone with experience will help us with our issue.

Right now we have 5 years US tourist visa and we will apply for Canada visa soon.
We have no relative in Canada.
My wife choose C section to deliver the baby.

Can u please help about these questions:
1. Where is the cheapest, easiest to manage the issue (doctor, doctor's medical letter, hospital, accommodation, transportation, etc) & most comfort city for this issue according to your opinion?
2. How much is the C section total cost there? (Hospital + Doctor + laboratory + baby, etc?) with the estimated breakdown please..
3. How much is the cost of renting apartment / any other kind place to stay per month there?
4. What is the best time to arrive in Canada before due date? and how long after delivery can we go back home?
5. Living cost (food, transportation, etc) per month?

Your help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

I totally understand where you are coming from. However, you can ask most people here cuz I refered them back to this thread so everyone can benefit .

I only put people through via email if they want how to get naija documents for the baby. I am definitely not going to put the naija contact no here cuz I won't want someone to put my number here cuz it will be abused .

All of una Don hear am oo...no more private messages so ask all ur questions here so everyone can contribute and learn. For those that don't wanna do the work by reading, u have to start today.

Thank you Justwise

justwise:

I'm sorry but you are contributing to it, you can't have it both ways..asking people to contact you and at the same time complaining about the number emails you are receiving.

This thread is almost stagnant because of this while US birth thread is running into parts.

I will implementing rule no 22 strictly from today.
