Hello everyone

Happy New Year. Hope everyone is doing well. I have few thingw to say

1. If you decide to come to Canada to have your baby, have an open mind.

2. Budget over whatever u read here or people have told you as each case diff.

3. If you are going to be needing accomodation, its not cheap in this part of the world.

4. You will porbably be using taxi for ur appointment so budget that as well esp if you are coming in winter .

Good luck

If the person is abraod, how is she or he going to sign?

You can walk into any walk in clinic and see a family dr and then ask him or her to refer you to the gynea u have

hebele:
hello all,

it was a lot to read but finally completed reading the posts. I have some questions.

1) this one is stated roughly but I just want to be sure. I have contacted with a hospital and doctor but don't know any family doctor. What should I do when arrive to Toronto? Can I simply walk to a family doctor and ask to redirected to my hospital? How dı I find a family doctor?

2) Does the guarantor for the passport need to live in Canada? I have a friend with a Canada passport living in abroad. Does she simply sign the passport papers? Does she need to be in Canada or will they only call her?

Thanks!

I will def not give u an invitation letter. So its better u ask others how they got a visa without IV. Also for u to be due in late dec, dont u think its late to apply for a visa?

mel01:

Pls Hotstepper if u still read this thread, I am 24wks Preggy and I want to apply for Canadian visa cos I want deliver there. How should I apply and am I supposed to tell them that my reason for going is cos I want to deliver or should we just apply for visa and the stay back for the birth. Pls can u give me the guidelines for the visa application. I will be going with my husband who is also a doctor here in Nigeria. Pls can u recommend a cheaper hospital or midwife and the breakdown of the cost of delivery both VD and CS. Can they turn one back at the point of entry because of the preggy. Pls I need the information urgent because I want to apply before I get to 30wks cos some airlines will not agree to carry one after that period. I want to have the flexibility to choose what I want now and not have to be forced to take anything else cos of time. I hope to hear from u soon.
I have read a lot of good testimonies about and I hope to give mine too one day and tell my own experience.
Thanks for your anticipated response.

Hello again everyone smiley

I've mentioned before that I received the visa and mentioned all the details for everyone's benefit. and now am already there in Toronto and have been searching for an OB/GYN in Brampton (as I want to deliver in Brampton Civic Hospital) but with no luck and even the family doctor I found was in Mississauga and she said that she can't refer me to someone in Brampton as she only knows/deals with OB/GYNs in Mississauga, so please if anyone knows an OB/GYN who I can contact directly or a helpful family doctor in Brampton please give me the contacts as am 34 weeks already and almost there since am delivering C-Section and my due date is 15th of September!!

Please Please Please I need your support sad

Thanks in advance...

If u have canada PR, u r good as a citizen and yes u can enter at 33 weeks and easily find a dr. Just go to any walk in clinic near u if u don't have a family Dr already. Register with the dr in the clinic and he or she will find u a gynea . Ur bills will be free nd that of the baby. Ur baby will aslo get health card and social insurance as a PR holder

dupyshoo:
Hi Hotstepper, well done for the great work you are doing here.

As a pregnant Canada PR, can you enter Canada at about 33weeks? How easy will it be to get a doctor? Will you have to pay yourself?

If u read through the pages, u would Ave seen that ur questions has ren answered . But since I am n a good mood, will write it again.

NB: I am not going to write things twice on this thread again. If I am taking my time to write and answer questions then I expect ppl to go through the thread and read as well before asking questions.

Since ur husband is in naija, u will go in-person to the Canada passport office. They will give u a file no and tell u to ask ur husband to go to canada consulate office with a govt ID. he will need to sign sumthing and the embassy will fax it to the passport office in Canada. They will probably ask u the consult office that's close to u.

Once he has signed, it will be faxed and ur baby's passport will then be processed . Make sure once ur hubby said he has signed , wait 2 days and call the passport office to make sure they have recieved the signed document. Also, if u r using a Canadian citizen as a guarantor for the passport application, the passport office will call the person to ask questions. If the perosn doesn't answer correctly, passport will be denied .

Good luck

jinnyz:

Hello Hotstepper,

Thanks for the link provided. I have read the article and I must say that am bit afraid for those of us who are still in the process of submitting our applications for the purpose of birthing our babies in Canada.

Please, what do you suggest. Based on what I have read, there is no embargo yet in place. But I intent to submit my application by month end. So scared in case the law changes!

For Canadian passport office, just Google passport office in Calgary to find out where the nearest one to u is. They can mail to u ... ...

jinnyz:

Thanks for your prompt response! From Calgary where is the closest city to get baby's passport? When you say picking up, can one opt for it to be posted rather than going in person again to pick it up?
Travel / Re: Giving Birth In Canada by Hotstepper(f): 10:49pm On Aug 08, 2016
Yes, the person must be canadian citizen. If you have none, u can use a notry public or lawyer

Hi all again, I've heard that we need a Canadian citizen to guarantee the baby in order to give him the passport!! is this true? if yes, how can we find someone to do so?

Hello hotstepper and everyone on this forum. Great job sharing relevant information y'all. I came across this page through Google while searching for Canadian birth and I've spent about a week going through pages 1-31 grin

God bless you @Hotstepper.

Now to my immediate question: Can I apply for a Canadian visa from the UK on a visit visa?

I'm asking this because I intend to go spend a month or two there and feel that by the time I return there would not be enough time for Canadian visa process. I'm 18 weeks already (4 months). Look forward to your replies.

Thank you so much Hot Stepper. My wife managed to speak to them at the Nigerian Embassy today and they promised to mail out one by express mail. I am keeping my fingers crossed. They said the mistake was from the way the name was written on the long form birth certificate. i would have loved to use your contact but they surprised me by been very efficient and sending the documents immediately my application got to them,

Sorry to hear that. They don't reply email so don't even waste ur time doing that again. U have to try and get them on thr phone cuz that mistake must be corrected if not the baby won't leave Canada .

Can connect u to the guy in Embassy but he will charge u so it's up to u

Madam Hotstepper thanks again for all the help. My wife managed to get the emergency travel certificate for our baby from the Nigerian embassy yesterday. There was a topographical error on the travel certificate as my baby's surname was mis-spelt on the form even though it was just a minor one. i would like to know if this could pose a problem to baby and prevent her from traveling ? We have sent several emails to the Nigerian embassy but they are yet to respond. Her remaining documents and Canadian passport bears her correct name just the emergency travel certificate contains the error. Thank you.[/quote]

I haven't heard any outcome regarding this. I think as long as the current administration is in power, birth tourism will still go on

RedReact:
Hello Hotstepper! Permit me to ask about Starchuks' petition, or what is her name again, concerning birth tourism in Canada. The petition had already gathered enough petition though. Where do you think it could lead to?
Travel / Re: Giving Birth In Canada by Hotstepper(f): 2:58am On Jul 19, 2016
1. Yes that's the application to use if you are in Ontario and apply for both long and short birth certificates and leave out the other 2 like SIN and child benefit. You will need the long birth certificate to apply for paspsort cuz both u and ur spouse names will be on that one unlike the short one .

2. It takes about 5 days to get to u. So make sure you give a correct home address

3. This one depends on individuals and how fast u got ur things or if u want to stay more and rest esp if u r not running to go bk to work. Ppl leave as early as 2 and half weeks bk to naija

4. U don't need this service cuz once u apply online, the same day or the day after it will be mailed out to u

voilasummer:

Hi Hermosa,

Congratz for the birth and successful journey.
Can you pls answer this question? need the answer urgently, because I also plan to go to ontario.
1. For birth registration & birth certificate do you use the online 4-in-1 Newborn Bundle (https://www.ontario.ca/page/register-birth-new-baby)?
2. How long does it take to get the birth certificate (long & short) after giving birth?
3. How long do you stay in canada after giving birth until going back to naija?
4. I also want to use the premium service for long & short birth certificate. The term & condition for Premium Online Certificates (https://www.orgforms.gov.on.ca/eForms/eForms_faq/serviceStandards.do#section3) states:
The event must be registered by the ORG and in electronic format at the time the application is received. It takes approximately 16 weeks from the date of birth, 10 weeks from the date the marriage and 12 weeks from the date of death to register the event. Your request for a certificate will be processed after the registration is complete.

How to register the birth and apply for birth certificate premium service? Did you do it on the same day OR request for a birth certificate after the birth registration completed (16 weeks?)?

I need the information urgently to determine the date of my flight's return tickets.

Thank you.
