good one. did u get the visa?

placebo:
You can try to get a correspondence. You maybe successful. I did try. I contacted the doctor’s office but his receptionist told me no email correspondence and they don’t even provide assistance with anything related to immigrations. She however said that they can only confirm my appointment. Due to time constraints, I just went ahead and wrote a LOE stating details of my appointment scheduled. I also got assistance with my insurance to write a guarantee of payment and I included that.

how can u put tourism in application nd childbirth in letter? u guys need to be consistent as the officer probably is even confused

aye88:
Those that applied and indicated childbirth, please did you include details of the hospital or doctor you will be using in your application. I applied January 6th and started tourism. Indicated childbirth in the letter of explanation. My application was refused. Reason is purpose of visit and personal and financial asset. I applied with my mum, hubby and my self. Hubby for two weeks, myself and my mum for two months. Hubby is the primary applicant. He has a valid us visa. My mum has a valid us visa too. My us visa recently expired. We put in documents of all our properties. We had seven thousand euro in hubby account balance. Should I reapply. What else can I add that hasn't been added already. Should I do a budget sheet. I don't know what else they want

Sorry to hear this. did you just apply alone? how was the invitation letter written? did it state the time period you will be here for? did you have enough more and more than enough documents?

MrsBMWM90:
GOOD DAY ALL,

I APPLIED FOR VISITOR VISA ON THE 5TH OF JANUARY 2019 AND JUST STATED MY REASON FOR TRAVELLING AS VACATION AND VISITING. I WROTE SOME PLACES TO GO AND ALSO TO STAY WITH MY COUSIN WHO ALSO WROTE AN INVITATION LETTER. VERY UNFORTUNATELY I WAS DENIED THE VISA TODAY. THE STATED REASON IS PURPOSE OF VISIT AND SO THEY ARE NOT CONVINCED I WOULD COME BACK AFTER MY TEMPORARY VISIT. FOR THOSE THAT GOT THEIR VISAS PLEASE ADVISE ME ON HOW I CAN REAPPLY(IT IS STATED THAT I CAN REAPPLY) AND WHAT I CAN STATE FOR PURPOSE OF VISIT. I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE THIS. I AM QUITE REALLY FRUSTRATED AS AM ALREADY 29 WEEKS GONE. I ALSO WANT TO KNOW IF ANYONE HAS RE-APPLIED BEFORE. THANK YOU. I AM ALSO GOING WITH MY DAUGHTER.

Can I still get a Doctor who will be ready to take me at this time?

some of ur questions really depends on u and what ur heart tells u to do. There r ppl who applied stating chikdbirth nd was given and some denied. Some applied as the whole famimy nd got it and some did not. Overall,i think na luck plus the office reviewing it.

recently one person was denied cuz they said she has no home ties cuz she applied with her husband .

Globc:
Dear @HotStepper,

Thank for all the guidance and assistance you provide on this platform to expectant mothers and their families.

I understand your busy schedule but please I urgently need your guidance on Childbirth in Canada. I was just recently denied a US Visa and currently in my 30weeks already. I intend to submit an application for this almost immediately. I am willing to take the risk to apply for this however these are my worries.

1. Should I state in my application that I am coming to Canada for Childbirth or just visiting? My husband has a valid US Visa.
2. My husband has more travel history than I do, so can my husband be the lead applicant although he does not intend to travel with me. I also have an 18month old child.
3. Hope there will no issues at the POE when I show up with my very huge stomach after not earlier stating that I am pregnant in the application.
4. which location do you best advice, in terms of securing a doctor and accommodation ASAP. Please, can you make any recommendation?
5. I had earlier applied with my mum for the US Visa so she can assist with taking care of the baby and my toddler for me, but I don't plan to include her now for the Canadian application since we are applying as a family going on a tourist visit. Can I get assistance with people that provide "omugwo" services when I get there?

Financing is not the issue, as we have more than enough to cover the trip and bear the cost.

Please help a sister in urgent need!!!

God bless you!!!

gingalady:
Hello House, Long Post alert

I arrived in Canada yesterday with my 20 month old daughter. This is a flight and POE post.
First of all i want to say that life is a manifestation of your faith and Courage so this journey starts in your mind. So its better you see how you want it to go and then PRAY endlessly about it.

As you recall i applied the last week in November and was approved first week in December... the fastest i had ever heard!!!

Next was getting currency for the trip. I applied for PTA at Zenith bank and got $4000 at 358 same day.

The rest i changed at BDC at 361. But i made sure it didnt get to CAD10,000 so i didnt have to declare.

We used Ethopian airways and was originally checked in one of those seats with extra leg room cos of my condition but that wasnt was i asked God for though... after everyone had settled in, one of the crew members sent for me to give me back my doc documents cos Ethopian airways makes you go to their own doctor in VI to get fit to fly 2 days before the trip and my daughter ran after me. She asked how i was going to manage and i said my dear, God will have to help me.

So she sent someone to my seat to get my things and moved us to two seats in BUSINESS CLASS!!
I was overjoyed!!!! It was a long flight but i was super comfortable to say the least. Food was at your request and they are so courteous and professional.

We finally arrived after 20 hours, but there was a 3 hour transit at Adis Ababa. We moved to immigration for declaration card and the rest. I was carrying baby milk so i was sent to customs.

VO: Why are you here for 72 days?
Me: im here to have my baby
VO: How much do you have on you?
Me: 9000 CAd and already brought it out for her to see
VO: okay so its in cash. What about emergencies?
Me: i have $3,500 in my dollar card and my husband will be sending more if i need it.
VO: what does he do?
Me: He is an IT manager

Smiles and types...
VO: is someone getting you? And how many kids do you have?
Me: yes my friend is outside and i have just her. My daughter was on the stroller so i picked her up
VO: awwww she is gorgeous!!!
Stamped me in for 6 months and said have a safe delivery. The exit is that way...

My host was outside waiting and we came home. We have called a few docs now and waiting for appointment

So all i can say is.. pray! Pray and then pray again!!! Everyone back home prayed with me for favour. Just have a positive outlook about this journey. He that started a good work is faithful to finish it.

Wish all expectant mums good fortune and FAVOUR!!!!

I have over emphaized all these u outlined but agents in Naija will tell them opposite, take money from them nd they come to give me headache..lol I will not try it again this year ooo so u guys will hold ur agents responsible. Yea, I am an agent but i do not advertise so that ppl can make their choices and it does not prevent me from answering questions here and advise.

Incase u ppl do not know cuz of ppl who said they r too busy to read the thread thus making moi that is dishing the info with research as a free person. below is my weekly schedule.

1. I wake up Monday to Friday at 6am to make work and school lunch for the kids. We leave at 7:15 latest to enable me drop them off at their before school program for 7:30 since I have to be at work at 9. I finish work at 5pm nd must leave immediately to enable me reach at their after school programs by 6 latest. they attend different schools....1 is at all french school the other in english until grade one she moves over .

2. We get home 6:30 nd then I have to cook dinner, after eating dinner, we do homework nd then bedtime . After everyrhing, i do some things around the house like folding laundry from the weekend nd responding to u guys questions, emails etc

3. Saturdays na house work, laundry nd kids diff programs like basketball, swimming etc.

4. Sundays na Church, usually do my daughters hair on this day, cook for the week etc.

purplerain1:
I want to us the medium to thank hotstepper for the clear up.
We that live in Canada and try to get accommodation for our pregnant mums find it tiring at times cos anytime we tell them how much accommodation is and how much they should budget for their trip, they make it seem something else and most times doubt lol.
Pls note that accommodation in Canada is NOT cheap,it is more expensive than in the US,also when you are making your conversion don't fail to note the CAD is lesser that the USD,so how can accomodation even be close in price?,also our utility bills and tax is way higher than what you get in the US also, finding a room for 1k including utility is regarded is indeed a favour ,you should budget 1k-1,700 depends on the kind of rooms,if it's a private suite or just a room with a bed.
Information is key and I like that it's dished out here constantly, pls let us take our time to read, read, read.
Thank you hotstepper for also throwing light on our doctors, doctors here don't really care if you pay cash or not,at the end of the day they get paid by the government lol, sometime in 2017,doctors protested for being overpaid ,they insist PSWs, RPNs and so on should have a raise.
Also pls note it is very difficult to accept women from 28weeks,it's is difficult begging these doctors and giving all sorts of excuse which we know are even lies,it is stressful, you mist also be referred by a family doctor, you can't skip that at all.
The kids part is a very serious issue, pls note that if you are coming with your kids, hubby, mum or anyone else,be prepared to pay an extra fee,no landlord will accept crowd in his house and pay all the utility, how now? or you can get an hotel room if possible.
If you are with kids alone pls make arrangements for nanny services(pls note that it is NOT cheap in this country,so pls reconsider or you may be lucky to find a free Nigerian grandma who won't mind taking a little token, cos when you go into labour and you take ur kids with you, there are chances your kids will be taken from you as you aren't for to take care of them (may this never happen in Jesus's name).
Pls note, any agent that charges 7,000 or less for accommodation, omugwo, transportation, airport pick up drop off isn't telling you the truth, pls budget from 7,500$-$12,000,things may come up,you may spend an extra day in the hospital and this also depends on the doc you find and how much he charges, including the hospital charge.
Thank you ladies.

Please has anyone used a midwife? Maybe considered a home birth? (Trying to cut cost)

I've contacted a few and the price out of hospital is 3500 with all pre natal and post appointment plus birth which two midwives would attend. Is it worth being out of the hospital cos you eliminate that cost.

Of course if any complications show up, they move you to a hospital.

Anyone with this experience or any advice is welcome.

Merci beaucoup![/quote]

Thisbis also my concern that alot of ppl who used to go to the US now coming to Canada will spoil everythibg now. Please use a dr nd not midwives. if u have no more to foot ur bills, remain in naija than spoiling things for other ppl now or in the future

MamaOO:

They move you to the hospital and you end up being treated as an emergency case. The cost you’re trying to cut will now become double if not triple. Not worth it, IMO

Why travel thousands of miles just to go and receive services from a midwife? This thread will soon turn into the US thread, pretty soon

u only need VOA thats all

Egoj:
Hello Hotstepper!

Thanks for all your contributions on this thread.it has been of great help.
I arrived in Canada in December and had my baby in January.
I have started the documentation process for the birth certificate.
Meanwhile, is it compulsory to get an emergency travel certificate from the Nigerian high Commission when I can get Visa on Arrival.
Just to clarify this because someone told me it will be requested at the airport.
I cannot afford to stay extra one week after I get my baby's passport.

Please advice.
Thank you.

I wish I can like the ur comment 1 million times.

This ur write up confirms what I have been talking about since . This month a dr can charge say 1000 nd next month it is 3k, thus have more than enough money.

Please people if u have no cash to pay at ones, please remain in Nigeria so u do not spoil the show for others who can confortably afford it.

As you said, unless u have a place to stay nd feed for free, other provinces are very costly

mizGene:

1. No you don't. Book a hotel and you are good.
2. I doubt. You may be able to in some provinces but don't think you can in Manitoba (at least for Winnipeg area)
3. Agent what? Do it yourself!
4. Manitoba (winnipeg area) is a bit expensive compared to other provinces I hv heard abt here. There are only few hospitals for obs services in Manitoba and only 2 in winnipeg. It will cost about 7100$ for mother and child per day(4605 for mother, 24...something for baby) now they hv a policy where ur obgyn will hv to apply to the hosp on your behalf and when approved you hv to make a prepayment- 2 days for normal delivery and 3 days for CS. I guess one can get discharged after 1 day and get a refund. ..
Doctors' delivery and consultation fee is another one undecided

Last time it cost me about 1500 now I'm looking at 3500 for same doc as before o. The alternatives aren't looking cheaper so far...one is quoting 5k for delivery...

Then ultrasound is about 1077 per session at the hospital. Not yet sure if there are private places one can use for now.
Plan about 200 for tests. 400 ish for circumcision. Amd about 300 for paed consultation.

So my advise, unless you have family here, just go to one of the less restrictive areas.

Congratulations! Where are you? it is good you are putting this up cuz of agents who tell people they can have baby plus accomodation etc for 6k or 5500CAD .

which city r u? Wow, baby's fee is on the high side thus why i advise people to.come prepared

So far I have paid the following bills;
Hospital - 2062.50Cad per day for baby
3972.50Cad per day for me
Peaditrician- 320Cad ( 60Cad first visit, 200Cad comprehensive visit, 60Cad subsequent visit after 7days)
I will get gynae's fees and epidural when I go for 6weeks check up.

Hello Everyone! Happy New Year. I hope everyone is doing great.

I said I was going to clear up some things since it is becoming rampant with mums who come in to have their babies.

I know there are agents in Nigeria who are in this thread who get people from here as clients and there is nothing wrong with but but please try and paint a better picture.

Now my observation plus experience from mothers who came in nd reached out to me, thus why I decided to take out time to clear up issues. It is 8:45pm Eastern Time.

1.Make sure you can comfortably sponsor your childbirth trip.

2. Please Canada is NOT US. You can see my "NOT" is all in Capital. Please if you are not ready for Canada, stick to the US. They are 2 diff countries with 2 diff policies. While US is a Capitalist country, Canada is a Social Welfare State. Canada has free medical and US does not so Canada has a one -tier health care system. Drs here can do without international patients and be very fine.

3. Let no agent tell you that you can have a baby in Canada plus accomodation, omugwo, pick up nd drop off for 6000 CAD..7000 sef will not be enough.

4. If you are going with an agent in Nigeria who probably has not been to Canada ( most of them now add Canada to their plan cuz Canada is now hot for childbirth),make sure u know exactly what their services cover. Alot of things I did in 2018, I will not repeat it in 2019. If ur agent in Nigeria just collects ur money nd u come nd what u r told is not what u see, please manage it like that nd try and speak up so others will learn .

5. budeget atleast 1000/1500 for accomodation cuz it depends in the city u live in. Canada is very large so getting from point A to B is far. Toronto is like lagos, even if say u get a dr for 1500, ur accomodation might be the same price or more and that is if you see. I know someone who paid 80 dollars a day on Airbnb nd couldnt cope after 2 weeks then contacted me and I know how i tried to find acxomodation for her.

6. If you are aware you are preggy, please try and start yoir visa application on time. most people says they travelved at 36 weeks to the US plz dont try it for Canada unless it is really not ur fault cuz its war finding drs on a normal day then imagine at these stage of ur pregnancy.

7. If you are coming with kids, please most times do ot expect to be in 1 bedroom in somebody's house. Also have in mind thar even the no of people renting a place, determins the cost cuz landlord will factor light nd water bill and that is if you find as most people do not like taking people with little kida esp if he or sge lives in the house. Also, if you MIL, Mum or hubby will not be around, make sure u have arrangement for someobe who will look after the kids while u head to the hopsital. DO NOT DEPEND ON UR HOST U MAY OR MAY NOT KNOW. You cannot take the kids to the hospital with u because there are changes they will be taken away from u. Saying this cuz it almost happened to someone 3 or 4 months ago. I knoe someone that her hubby had to buy last min flight cuz of the condition of his family and had to lodge them in a hotel until they left canada so you can imagine

8. Do not be in a hurry to go and if you may, then u must start ur documentations on time, right away .

Enjoy ur week .

I will still maintain my stand that if ppl take time to read this thread, everything has been covered and most times, google does the magic than waiting for someone to reply who u do not know if has the time to come. Yes I saw that someone said she will share but has the person shared? NO and that was why i suggested google.

When someone asked it before in some pages back, i also said google it and she/he came bk to say no info. I took my time ( which i would have ignored cuz e no concern me but i took the time i no get) nd just one search, the info was there nd i put it up here. The same thing with the someone looking for Canadian embassy email addy nd i said google nd she said she couldnt see anything. There again, i took out time to search which by the way was 1 search nd that was it.

My point is that there r basic info that google can solve for us sharp sharp than waiting for someone to respond which we do not know when. Let us start taking advantage of the resources nd using our data wisely nd not IG nd all (lol)

If we all say we r busy, preggy, no help, this thread will be dead but i believe with everyone shipping in important info, then we will forge ahead.

Talking about being busy, working,no help, most of us fall into it but yet we need to create time for things that matter to us. If I had that mindset, then this thread would probably have died long time ago.

Note: This is not an attack and I am not angry or picking on anyone.

Enjoy the rest of ur day nd see u in Canada with my crayfish ooo
