As foolish as it was, he had to let Lil Gaup live so that he can use him to sustain himself outside the house because there was no way he would have been able to sustain himself apart from burgling around. And the thing is Lil Guap will never be truly loyal to him. Lil Guap is just afraid of him and once an opportunity to get rid of him comes he'll do it.

He isn't even ready to take responsibility and apologize to his mother. He deserves any kind of punishment the family dish out to him, but at what cost?

The dirty work Dru and Diana did as punishment could only work for them but not a shooter like cane. If u notice he doesn't portray himself like someone in the same league as Dru and Diana. And for monet to ask Ramirez to set him up will be asking too much of him and she is trying not to ask Ramirez for too much favours cos we all know how she paid him off in return.
Cane letting Lil guap to live was before he was banished. Imagine if Monet has let him back in the family and she ended up finding out cane didn't kill Lil guap, what do u think would have played out. Cane decision is a well thought plan and it shows he had been nursing the idea of turning his back on the family.
If you watch the scene from the last episode where Dru confronted cane and Lil guap had to make himself known to Dru. U would notice that a lady sitting close to them was eave dropping on their conversation and she narrated what was been discuss to Lil guap. That's why when cane saw Lil guap with Rico's product he knew Rico want to take out his family out of the game. It's all cane's fault.

A mother should always know how to get through to her kids. Did you not notice that despite Tariq's stubbornness he still listens to his mother most of the time?

There are some children you'll handle well with cain, some with punishment styles , and some with simple converstaions.

With what they've shown so far, banishing isn't setting Cane's head straight. You will notice that even after Dru's situation Cane wasn't even ready to accept it was all his fault, and that is the reason why his insecurity about Tariq will always be there. Now I know that some children are goats and they won't listen matter what. But in this case I think after she knew that Lorenzo had him beaten up, she should have talked to cane, make him see his foolishness, then punishing him accordingly for his misbehaviour. And draw him back.

Right now it's not really about punishing, it's about correction. You can punish and still not correct. Talking to him and punishing him could've done both. Now both the rest of the family and Cane are paying for his misbehaviour and he'll most likely continue because he's foolish.

I like your analysis about the whole cane stuff but if I may ask what punishment should Monet have melted on him. Don't forget she is a woman and that's why Lorenzo said he had to get through to cane but Monet is a woman. On her part she had talked to cane several times and even told him about their different roles in the family. But cane decides to be a big baby and suck about it. To me banishing cane was the right call and it was done to reassure Tariq that she had no hand in the attempt on his life. Imagine if tariq was ghost or Tommy do u think they will allow it slide just by Monet talking to them. Their guns will do the talking. The family need to cut cane off totally. How do you think Rico got to know that it was the tajeda family that killed his boy though it was staged to look like a robbery. If cane had killed Lil guap he wouldn't have told Rico about what went down and there wouldnt be an attempt on their lives. Though right now Cane is also the solution to their problems.

This is the fault of the writers though. They're over pushing Monet's toughness and Coldness. Even Kanan that was crazily cold killed his son because he didn't chose him over another person. But in Cane's case the son is all about his place in the family, not that he's choosing an outsider over the family. In fact the boy has been the one enforcing the family's street credibility . The same thing Ghost did with Taiq when he helped Tommy enter the pent house.
So far, pushing him out hasn't been working, it'll only lead to further casualties

You all should give monet a break. Kane step out of line the moment he started questioning Monet decision in the family. Monet kept emphasizing it that they all have a role to play in the family but yet Kane decides to go against the family and what it stand for and do you expect her to give him a pat in the back.
