@ earthrealm

Wetin concern me with Oprah,,,,

i gav an example earlier,,, if you're raised in a situation where your dad beats your mom, u definitely hav no desire to get married,,, for u happy endings wont seem possible (u prbly wont understand being a guy)

Not everyone is raised with the same values u were raised with (u need to stop generalising)
people are brought up in diff situations that shapen their minds and decisions,,,

because  the  snide  remarks.insults   r going to  be  never ending
whether u like it or not, africans are beginning to see the importance of choice and the environment is more conducive for empowered females

but in the long run, such  a  practise  will result in the disintegration of the  family  unit, n once that  happens, anarchy  is  going to  reign  supree, because  kids  will be  raised  up  without  the  love/warmth/protection/nurture  that  a  family  offers, leading  to  a  spike  in  social  evils, like  rape, drive by shootings  etc
i beg to differ,,,
I was raised by my single mum and I'm proud of it!
plus, without meaning to blow my horn, I have turned out better than many people I know raised in conventional houshold
I got more love warmth and protection than most conventional families,,, and sorry to say this, but suggesting that rapists and murderers all stem from a being raised by a single parent is rather ignorant if u ask me,,,,

You really shdnt generalise deosnt make u look good

@hr hotness,
you're getting me wrong,

we humans go tru that phase of wanting 2 be withsome one,

by this i don't mean marriage, as humans we hv needs that cud only be met by another human,

the thing applies 2 both male n females, //am not saying its a female thing

everyone goes tru it, no mattter how hard/strong u think u are,

thats what makes us human

@poster, no need saying it again, ITS A MANS WORLD, thats why society frowns more at the single lady that the single male, hthough in the african culture, both r objects of fun n snide remarks
Fair enough, I agree companionship is important
My argument simply is why can't a woman decide to opt out of going d whole nine yards tieing the knot?
why should companionship be tied to marriagehuh
i know many couples who hav stayed on long term relationships without getting married and are happier for it,,, why is that so wrong? its her decision after all

Interesting!!
On the contrary I am totally against bio fuels,,, esp in Nigeria, we can't even grow enough to feed oursleves, read my posts properly

My argument basically is rather than making plenty of noise debating issues and trying to get foreign experts to fix what is so obviously and irreparably broken, we shd focus out energies on harnessing out God given resources,,,,

(befor the western world will find a way of stealing it as they do)

@ LadyT

I personally am not a big fan on bio fuels because of the food vs fuel issue

however, i did live in Zaria for a while and the endless land area used for absolutley nothing used to bug me
now I'm thinkin wind farms!

we hav a long stretch of coast and I'm thinkin tidal turbines
I'm going to be working with a group tasked with monitoring their efficiency once a new one is installed in west wales,,, so far it looks really good on paper, bettter than wind turbines in fact.

Definitely. A colonic will kick start your remaining weight loss. I combined mine with light eating for 2 weeks or so and the difference was incredible. Lost 1.5 to 2 inches everywhere and my stomach was flat as a pancake as opposed to bloated. Sad to say am back to square 1 which isn't really bad but I was enjoying how I looked!

The colonic will enable your food to be broken down faster and used more efficiently instead of forming a 'queue' in your large intestine waiting to be 'released.' grin

Trust me if you can handle Brazilian waxing, colonic is no biggie in terms of nudity, in fact its more decent! The inserting bit is not painful -at least for me it wasn't. After 5 mins trust me you will forget any shyness issues you may have had hehehe
i suppose i shd give it a go,,, grin

But surely you know hotness there are massive problems with even so called environmentally friendly renewable energy?
I'm not saying its the perfect solution
there are problems but many of them due to their unique demands and inappropriate resources

take sweden for example, their forest is thecorner stone for their journey to a oil free economy,,,

we not only hav forests, we hav excess land and other resources,,,,,

Chart our own pathhuh Isn't that what we have been trying to do for so many decades now?? Are we not tired of that path by now or do we really want morehuh Is accepting that we have failed and trying to adopt ideas we know have worked real well for others bad?? Please enough of the fear mongering when it comes to nuclear energy. South Africa, even with it's sloppy ways has survived nuclear energy with no catastrophies for over a decade or so now. We on the other hand have had nothing but our fears to sit and bath with in that time. The flawed model of government controlling it all that we adopted from the beginning, has led us to where we are today and so we need, not only to get over our fears and do the right thing but do it for the people who are ready to see change.

I do believe a country not ought to be run like a giant experiment 24/7. Nigeria has been run that way for decades now and I am sure 99% of Nigerians will agree when I say that experiment has failed. It is now time for us to adopt what we know works and use it to our advantage.
I beg to differ
all we've done is play catch-up, bringing in foreign experts to help us develop methods that have worked their countries,,,

I am beginning to wonder if you have any clue what the frell you are talking of now about this peak oil idea. In the 1980's the same America developed an alternative to Oil and used it to run it's millitary, something it is now going back to do now. Back then, the world was stil high on cheap oil that the alternative oil idea did not do well. And you come in here claiming it has been america forcing the world not to consider that oil is finite resource?? I say you go back to your books and study harder.

I even raised this to help you figure out that trying to play the conspiracy card on a thread where it is not needed only shows issues you may have personally with the west rather than actual information as it does not even apply to this.
No need to get personal here,,, I hav no issues with the west, I'm infact grateful for everything I'velearnt cuz i feel it gives us the upper hand.

America was forced to develop alternatives to oil becos of the domestic crash in 1970, pre4dicted by King Hubbert in 1956. (u shd read up on his original report), having developed alternatives to oil, they went on to be the worlds largest consumer, over 25% of the worlds deposits,,, how do u explain that?
PoliticsRe: Yar’adua Approves Higher Electricity Tariff by HRhotness(f): 6:35pm On May 05, 2008
has anyone even considered what will happen with all that radioactive uranium if the everyone decides to go nuclear?

why do have to play catch-up at all, why cant we chart our own path,,,
does anyone even realise the potential Nigeria has with regards to renewable energy?

Everyday I hav to sit through talks form people form all over the world saying how they dont hav enough land area or ocean or people to properly develop renewable energy in their country,,, thats the only reason why nuclear power is popular,,, they have thetechnology and the expertise,,,

we have the land, ocean and people,,, why not go in the direction they cant? why do we hav to chase after them in an area we are unsuited forhuh

So,  do you have a source for this PROPAGANDA of yours?? I would like to know where and how you came about this information of yours cause this is a first for me considering all I have heard and seen is the PEAK OIL Stategy being played over and over and even linked to global warming from over here on a daily basis. Note: I did not ask you of your idea of america as a whole but where exactly this  NO PEAK OIL propaganda of yours comes from.
the peak oil theory has been around for decades why is it only now that people are beginning to pay attention?
why is the US government insisting ther is no oil crisis and yet meeting with the king of saudi arabia to beg for more oil,, and yet still in iraq controlling their oil reserveshuh

the only reason u hav heard and seen all u hav on peak oil is becos the signs cannot be ignored any longer,,, the govt is being forced to take notice. suddenly going sustainabilty route has suddenly become the vogue and no one wants to be left out  grin

The irony is that our underdevelopment in this sector is now something that can be exploited. Western countries are already entrenched in using the more traditional approach to power generation and hence most of the infrastructure in these countries are dedicated to these approaches and there is now a difficulty in simply building new factilities for other approaches. However we have little to no infrastructure so why not start from scratch in the right direction but using things like renewable energy as a supplement to modern and efficient power stations? As for Nuclear, i would be really nervous about this in Nigerian hands. I mean, a couple of year ago a plane in Port harcourt that was about to take of had to stop because there was a cow on the runway, and you want to put something like Nuclear eenergy in these same hands? LOL. I am not saying it is impossible and not viable, i am just saying i would be quite nervous about this, but Nigeria needs power.
I totally agree,,,
I actually wrote a paper proposing that the UK take a cue frm so called developing countries like India
it simply a case of going back to basics

the problem now is to get the developing countries (in this case, Nigeria) to slow down and take stock,,, it would be far easier for us to go the renewable and sustainable energy route than for developed countries

If Peak Oil is western propaganda, why are we falling for it?? Why not continue with the the "oil and gas to save Nigeria" idea instead?? By the way, I don't know what it is you meant when you said America's supply is depleted but there is abundance of oil in the country, problem is environmentalists are too scared to drill their own oil as they are afraid "teddy" and "rudolf" will not have a home if we start doing that. Hence the reason why America continues to purchase oil instead.
the idea that there is no such thing as peak oil IS the propaganda,,, and America is running out fast, don't forget that they have ceased to be able to meet their demands a long time ago,,, as the worlds "super power" being dependent on another country for oil is very undesirable. I'm sure if they found new reserves they'd happily say good bye to "teddy" and "Rudolf"

Dont knw if Nigeria is ready for nuclear energy, it requires alot of time and money to build and develop a nuclear reactor, plus there is the problem of storage and proper disposal of the waste radioactive uranium,,, when we can't properly manage common oil pipelines, u want them to handle radio active isotopeshuh

I second that. DIY waxing is hit and miss for me. The best kit for that is 'bliss poetic wax' but nothing beats a no-nonsense therapist stripping away those pesky hairs with hot wax! The last brazillian wax I did was after a 4 month 'break.' I was seeing stars, I wanted to disappear or evaporate half way during the treatment shocked
Girrrllll, I knw that feeling oh,,,
i remember on a trip to Nigeria, i didnt knw where i cld get good quality waxing so i decided to wait till i got back,,, i still shudder at the memory of that session,,, the girl adv that next time a trim might help,,, i was thinkin there wont be a next time, I'll never wait so long between waxes, EVER!

my interest in colonic irrigation is for weight loss tho, I recently lost 3 stones and i can't shake the last 1 stone, someone suggested it was a good way to go, plus it has health benefits as well,,,, i'm still skeptical tho, d idea of things going into that part of my anatomy is very discomforting  grin

go get waxed professionally and see how long it lasts,,, i'm sure u'd see the diff

the carbon emissions could be dealt with using CO2 trapping planets, the CO2 could be recycled for more applications. i believe the world has enough coal for about 200years. wind power doesn't produce enough energy though
but the technology doesnt exist yet,,, its all ideas and speculation right now,,, recycling CO2 is the ideal now but nobody knows how yet,,, the process still uses too much energy and defeats thewhole purpose really

the thing with wind energy is that winds strengths cannot be predicted, large wind farms in the desert region are best as the landscape is relatively flat meaning the threat of windless days are massively reduced. the UK is harnessing offshore wind energy and that is also a way to go,,,
the larger the wind turbine the more it can produce, imagine a farm of turbines and storage facilities for when energy production is in excess,,, grin

only a few days ago i visited a farm in the coastal region of wales the farmer successfully met his electricity requirements with one large turbine, he even produces excesses on most days and exports to the grid,,, if Nigeria is willing to invest it could be the solution to the energy crises,

Hydro dams aren't efficient esp wher d river has been dammed in diff points

the problem with coal plants is the carbon emissions,,, also it isn't a renewable source, which is only delaying the problem

there is no 'sudden interest' oil is getting more expensive and more difficult to get - the countries are trying to secure their own future supplies first before going on any 'renewable' path.

No one truly knows how much oil there is out there - areas like the Arctic may still contained vast untapped reserves, there might still be oil for the next 100 years, not to talk of coal which will be sufficient for the next 250 years.

The renewable drive is basically to avert global warming - but the fact is most people will not pay more for something simply to be 'sustainable' - they like the idea, but pay more? Then they think twice.
Agreed,,,
but part of the problem is the increasing demand

whatever reserves may be found within the arctic might as well last only a few years and delay the inevitable but like every other oil deposit,,, it will run out,,, and then what

global warming is a threat yes, but scientific studies hav shown that man can adapt to nature,,, the worst scenarios so far are still some time away and at worst will result in mass migration

the immediate threat is peak oil tho,  world economies will crash and if u think of how dependent we are on oil,,, food, transpot, electricity,,,, mans survival is linked to oil,,, too dependent on oil for comfort and thats what is scary
