Arguments are meant for peoples to learn and not to hurl insults at each other. StarBoard really needs a lesson at disagreements cos its obvious he gets very temperamental when people tend to present views divergent from his. It gets very frustrating seeing a supposed grown man run his mouth in all kinds of places. Too bad!

Plese don't say what u don't know. The iPhone 5 comes with a retina display and 28MP camera

I have always said that majority of the "Nani is shyte" comments bandied around this thread are based on personal bias rather than cold hard facts. I think 130K a week isn't as ludicrous as we are being made to believe. Afterall Wellbeck just got his wages jacked up and I don't think he's done anything over top to get that.

However, methinks the argument has stretched too far. Maybe we should talk about Wazza's new book grin

I just can't understand Fergie's attachment with the 4-4-2 system. Someone should pls tell him that he's playing the most obsolete formation in world football. No wonder these St Mary boys are just bossing the mf.

montelik: Windows closes and the squad is set. I was looking forward to this years window as I felt a number of quality players who could satisfy areas of need for us would be available. While I believe we made 2 excellent signings (particularly Kagawa) in terms of quality and 1 unknown prospect with upside. I can't hide the fact I am incredibly disappointed. This was unlike the past 2 summer windows as many players in positions we could have strengthened were available. Once again we didn't do much, but this time there were no excuses. There was value available, there was quality available and there were many teams and players willing to do business. Yet we continue to hope in what we got despite the evidence that it might be a futile exercise.

Anyway as the present squad is constituted, I don't have much expectations this season. We could regain the EPL, but my gut says we don't. City are a more matured side now, armed with the experience of winning from behind last season. We can't expect costly mess ups like last season. I believe we will certainly do much better in Europe probably reach the semis. Why? Cos after last year SAF will be determined to banish last season disappointment. Also no doubt the Glazers have pointed out to Gill and SAF what our early elimination cost the club with our tight rope financial situation. The cups are always unpredictable, but might be the year if we get to a semi-final.

If things go our way e.g we can field a consistent back 5 for at least 3/4 of the season, we can keep most of our squad fit enough to actually be able to realize what our strongest 11 should be and not guess, improvement in performance from certain marginal players (e.g Ando, Evra), over-paid players (e.g Rooney) and other younger players e.g (DDG, Jones, Welbeck, Tom C), new signings have solid debut seasons. Then we could be the ones winning the EPL and possibly europe.

But my gut says the question marks are too many to believe such a scenario is likely to develop. In short not expecting much. My expectations are a strong challenge for the league (2nd) even if we come up short, a marked improvement in Europe (quarters) and avoiding a trophy-less season (FA cup would do nicely).

The sad but inevitable truth

debosky:

So Fergie dropping Rooney for RVP last week says something about the value of Rooney?

RVP was rubbish at the Euros, did that stop Utd paying 250k for him?

Your weak logic doesn't stand up to scrutiny. The fact is that coaches pick players with the best form/attributes at a particular time, and it doesn't mean the others were rubbish. A player's performance over the course of the season is the best reflection - 10 goals and 14 assists is a high level of performance in any season in the EPL no matter how you cut it.

Nani is a maverick - by nature that makes him inconsistent, just like Robben. Your issue is more to do with the type of player Nani is than his performances. If you're looking for Valencia-type performances you're wasting your time because they are different types of players.

Thumbs up mate! End of discussion!
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Hugoboi(m): 3:52pm On Aug 31, 2012
StarBoard: @dayokanu,
Nani is over-rated.Much like Robben but on a lesser scale.Robben does stuff well till he gets to finals, at least.
Nani was at the Euros, nothing spectacular except involving himself in a controversy in the penalty-shoot out loss.He didn't make the team of the tournament. So why is everyone on his d/ick?
Aside from a few times when he's really turned it on, Nani hasn't done it consistently enough over the period he's been at United for me to believe he's actually the player we think he is.That has been my point.
You talk about Nani being feared.Really? I don't see it.
@A-40,
That same 2010/11 when we played Chelsea in the champions League, who did Fergie bench?Nani was dropped in favour of a returning Valencia for both legs, and United won home and away. I'm guessing that should say something about his value.

I'm sorry to say this but I think this is more of a personal thing against Nani, than an objective and well rounded analysis from a footy fan. If both Nani and Robben are both over rated to you, then I'm guessing the soccer u watch is different from the one the rest of us do. StarBoard, please tell me two wingers in 2012 soccer who are 'totally" ahead of the aforementioned. Till u can give me a satisfactory answer, I rest my case...

Do you watch your football from the newspaper vendor's stand?

Maybe...but every player has his shitty day and his whole career shouldn't be judged by that. Against Everton, Rooney was atrocious. Does that make him a crap player?
I don't see why Nani is being written off while the likes of Young are still allowed to wear a United jersey. Which player in this modern day pushes the ball around with his eyes fixated to the ground. Infact, Young's transfer should be investigated. I won't be surprised if SAF made a 'killing' by the side from that transaction.

The best winger in the league who can't cross or take corners, who ís as selfish as anything I've ever seen.
The best means something different to both of us,really.
Van Persie's case had to do with wages and ambition. So it's not the same as Nani's. Apples and oranges, in my view, so no need to compare both.

Haba, are you sure we are talking about the same Nani here? Can't cross? Dude pls!!!!
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Hugoboi(m): 2:20pm On Aug 30, 2012
Granted that Nani can be annoying as fvck, I think selling him (particularly at this point) will be an unpardonable blunder. One of the true measures of a successful sale in the world of soccer is about the quality of the replacement. I don't think there's any winger of Nani's quality available in the transfer market. That aside, United can do with some flashes of flamboyance which Nani provides when he has his A-game on.
Baseline is, as long as Nani gets rid of the 'ridiculous' wage demand, I don't see why he can't remain and keep the likes of 'useless' Young and Tony V on their toes.

Esss: IMO Sate deserve the leader they get...

Rochas.. This mans gimmick will only dawn on the people of IMO State after he leaves office and they realize that he really did nothing for them..

So any Traditional Ruler that speaks English would be dethroned.. And a couple of juvenile efulefus are clapping at this broad day disrespect of our Traditional rulers by this little boy called Rochas.. WHO told Rochas that he has a say on who becomes Traditional ruler or not?! Who told Rochas that he has the powers to take away the stool of a traditional leader installed by our tradition and protected by the gods?! Our people say 'He whom the gods want to kill, they first make mad'.. Rochas is toying with fire..

So he has protected our language, what about our cultures and values.. How about before every meeting is held in the state (from the State Assembly to the governors office to even the private sector), Libations must be poured with Seamans Aromatic Schnapps and kolanut must be broken and shared..

Coke, Wine and Champagne as refreshment for visiting dignitaries should be banned and replaced with Garden Eggs and Ose' Orji with Palmwine.

Also any Traditional ruler that is found in Church, Mosque or any other place of worship other than his Obi or the Alusi of his community should be arrested and jailed.. Our deities must also be protected as they are a part and parcel of our heritage..

O yeah!! Also, all Igbo cultural celebration like our 'New Yam festivals' and co must also be declared public holidays in the state and all civil servants must return to their villages and participate in the celebrations.. And must get a participation letter from their village head affirming that they did indeed participated..

LIKE SERIOUSLY!!!!! Just when I thought this doofus of a Governor couldn't top his last antics of sharing Kerosene in a packed stadium and paying minors 100 naira a month salary, he goes and does this..

IMO STATE INDIGENES are really in deep shiit for the next 3 years..

And ask for that Joke of him being crowned 'EZE NDI IGBO GBURUGBURU'.. Nigga please... Like who gave the clown of an Eze the right to install a Charlatan like Rochas as Eze Ndi Igbo?!

IMO STATE seem to be filled with alot of clown Niggas just like their Clown Governor..

Well said!!!!!

chucky234: I know Lekki bulldog will attack unwisely as usual, a president who operates the world's most expensive govt yet Nigeria ranked as one of the poorest nation both in Africa and the world over failed woefully.
A president who spent $25bn dollars to generates 1000MW of electricity while Brazil spent $10bn to generates 10,000MW failed woefully,a president who borrowed N1.2tn in 24 months to fund his feeding allowances has also failed Nigerians.
A president who tried to turn the white Trinis against their minor brothers(Afro Trinis) by trying make them believe that they can dominate their white brothers when Nigeria economy is controlled by whitemen did not only fail Nigerians but the world at large.
A president who has spent billions on security with no result to show far has failed Nigerians,a president spent billions annually on Special Advisers while Nigerians die in hunger did not only fail Nigerians by disgraced and wronged Nigerians.
The reasons why our dear president has failed us is numerous,I can go on and on.

Recent developments in Nigeria staunchly reinforce the view that Jona has lost control of this country (that is if we can safely assume he ever had it at all) Can the state of Alaska declare secession in any manner without the Obama govt taking serious action? Goodluck has turned the Presidency into a huge joke and he expects us to 'clap' for him. Whatever Asari's motives, one cannot fault the fact that his assessment is spot on.

Mr Everest: Impeach GEJ? Then to what end? The worst thing that would happen is for Sambo to become president! I'm not a fanatic of GEJ but i believe he should be giving a chance till 2015 so we can appraise his performance especially in the power sector and if we are not satisfied we can vote him out! But for the cabals to sneak in one of their own through the back door in the name of impeachment is unacceptable. Come 2015 i see Rochas Okorocha and David Mark as serious contenders should GEJ fail in his reforms. Pretenders like B.Aliyu, Atiku, Buhari, El Rufai, Sanusi and other BH warlords can keep dreaming their method has backfired, which sane SW'ner,SE'ner,SS'ner or MB'tan would vote for them? They have come to their wits end because Nigerians have become wiser.

Did u mention Rochas Okorocha? Are you ok?
Politics / Re: PDP Conspiring With Reps To Impeach GEJ - S’South Leaders by Hugoboi(m): 7:49pm On Jul 30, 2012
ypzilanti: Impeachment is also a process of government. Why are they acting like impeachment is a coup plot or something. There is provision for impeachment in the constitution and the power is wide ranging on purpose.

In fact if more governors and Presidents had been impeached in the past, our democracy would be more robust for it.

A popular President can never be impeached by the NASS. The NASS have guaged the mood of the nation and are blackmailing an unpopular President.

It's GEJ's current unpopularity that is making him afraid because he knows Nigerians will not protest his impeachment...In fact the majority will welcome it only to find out that Sambo is even worse.

Well said. Nothing could be farther from the truth.
