Okay, let me challenge you on that. Tell me of a single instance when the south-west voted for a non-yoruba in an election where a yoruba man is also a leading contender.

1979 - Awolowo en masse
1983 - Awolowo en masse
1993 - Abiola en masse
1999 - Falae en masse
2003 - Obasanjo en masse
2007 - No Yoruba leading contender. Yar'aua with very low voter turn out
2011 - No Yoruba leading contender. Jonathan with very low voter turn out
2015 - No Yoruba leading contender. Buhari with very low voter turn out
You are almost very correct, but also in 2003 they voted Obj enmasse also but with very low voter turn out.

OP, you sounded intelligent but unfortunately, your sense of intellect has been completed murdered on the altar of hate, spite, parochialism and dumb cynicism. According to your narratives, someone fiddled with the concept of subsidy removal(or deregulation as you called it) while another actually put his words into action. I don't think you need someone to interpret the difference between those two comparatives. The long and short of it is that OBJ never removed subsidy but Jonathan did. No matter how you try to downplay the satanic roles played by APC stalwarts in the infamous Occupy Nigeria Protests, Nigerians with untainted conscience would never be deceived. APC is a congregation of heartless human beings who should be detested by all and sundry except people like you whose conscience has been mortgaged.
Obj did not fiddle with the idea, he increased the fuel price six times, from 11 Naira to N75, before Yar adua reduced it back to N75

When the guy met me (real life), and later knew my abode, the guy actually said "wow, I used to think no well-to-do person like yours is on Nairaland. Thank God I haven't abused you on a thread before". Looool! And what did the guy see? Just some couple cars in the compound and maybe my living room that he entered sha. So, pay this one no mind...

I totally agree with you, but in fact neither GEJ nor Obj has gone to jail, the difference BTW them? One left the country far better than he met it, while the other left it far worse than he met it, despite having greater resources.

lagos state is not 1000 years ahead of other states.....lagos benefited from its access to the sea which made the british to make it an entity on its own because the british lay very high premium on areas closest to the sea......abuja is an example of what oil money can do to a state!! If abuja had access to the sea, it would have over taken lagos as the best in Nigeria........lastly, taken down Gej had nothing to do with corruption but tribalism......they believed he didn't serve the interest of the yorubas that's all.....if they where so moraly upright, why did the yorubas not take out Obasanjo when we all know that he had a very corrupt government??
With all due respect sir, Obasanjo was corrupt, but he met just about $5bn in the forex reserves, with a national debt of over $38bn, but by the time he left the scene, he had paid off the debts and left about $45bn in foreign reserve and and $22bn dollars in excess crude account and guess what? The highest oil price during his tenure was just $75 with the Niger Delta crisis.

Now compare him with GEJ, he met a relatively bouyant economy, with good foreign reserves and almost all debts paid, oil was selling at $147 with the Nigerdelta crisis almost non existent, he left about $2bn in excess crude account and increased the nation,s debt, foreign reserve was down to about $30bn with pretty little to show.

If you consider the above scenarios very well, you will understand why the Yoruba's voted him out. Every Ex Nigerian head of state had been corrupt but some learnt to chop and remain, in Gej,s case, he pretty much ate the nation to the ground. In fact his finance minister had to borrow money to pay march and April 2015 salaries.

There are seaports in warri, onne, calabar, and Port Harcourt. What about the airport at Enugu? This excuse of yours is too lame sir. You want sea port in Ana and anambra? Do those places have a sea in the first place?

Accept your apology, but of course, this is a very complacent writeup of what actually transpired in Oduduwa. The word collaborative means sitting at the high table drinking tea and accepting certain things as equal partners, and for a place once referred to as the Slave Coast, I think collaborative is far from the truth, especially with the British. Any group that welcomes a foreign power with "Open Arms" is by that very act, a serf, slave, vassal, or one aspiring or accepting such title.

Abacha being dead? Well "yeah", but with billions wasted and those around him still in top positions (i.e. Buhari) you surely must ask yourself why the country has no airline till date, no better hospital, and it's still finding it difficult to trace some of the loot nearly 20 years later.

And lastly, Yoruba being Vice and Senate President is a testimony on the sabotage of the hopeful Southern solidarity by the Southwest, and I 'm glad folks East of Ondo are hearing the truth spill out daily from una
Well you might call it what you wish' but the children of Oduduwa realized that the English had a more sophisticated technology to theirs and instead of stubbornly resisting them, they welcomed them with the intention of benefiting from the relationship. Perhaps that's what made Lagos to be a thousand years ahead of other states, as for southern solidarity, you people should have considered that' when Yoruba's went on the streets of Abuja to protest against the cabal holding GEJ hostage and eventually helping to install him albeit illegally as the president and when this same Yoruba's massively voted him in 2011 despite the fact that a Yoruba man was the vice presidential candidate to Buhari, yet at a point no Yoruba man was considered good enough by GEj to be in top 25 positions of his cabinet, if GEJ had really performed well may be the Yoruba's would not have minded' but here was someone who met billions of dollars in saving with oil selling above $100, yet he could save or invest in critical infrastructure, yet u want Yoruba to vote for him because of southern solidarity' no sir we don't roll like that, every relationship should be symbiotic.

Yorubas not moved by threats? Ambode destroying some quack outdoor spaces called shops? I'm sure Abiola and Diya would laugh at such silly talk. If at any, Yoruba people have for the last 150 years been the most moved by threats and talks of threats, which even the English found out upon their swift military camp over Oduduwa.

Let's not play games here
Very sorry sir. Everything you wrote up there does not make a single sense to me. The English never camped around Oduduwa, they met a 100 years war going on, their approach to capture the south west was more of a collaborative rather than an aggressive one. They came with trade, education and religion, the Yoruba's welcome them with open arms, and when the Yoruba's had enough of them they simply asked for independence and they got it.
I marvel at the way you people revise history, so Diya and Adisa cried and prostrated, yeah. But wait a minute, where is Abacha? Dead and buried, and did the Yoruba's not rule the nation for 8 years? Are they not the vice president and senate president now? Tact is a billion times better than bluff.
Politics › Re: Why Yoruba Prefer Alliance With North – Adefuye by huptin(m): 6:55am On Feb 14, 2016
No region can afford not to associate with thebYorubas, pure and simple. Their continued existence' prosperity and progress depends on the Yoruba's. The Yoruba's know this that's why they are not moved by threats or stupid innuendos. When the biafrans threatened to invade Lagos with their stupid protest, all Ambode had to do was destroy a few shops, they got the message and all thoughts of biafran protest were promptly buried.

How did Ojukwu start a war? By seeking to protect his people away from your bloodthirsty forebears? Gowon fired the first shot. That you won a war with British and Arab military aid doesn't make you right.

The future is waiting for us all. Deny all you want, we hate ourselves and there is no sign that nigeria will live forever. Even the hausas are preparing for life after nigeria and frantically search for oil and secretly mining their gold and saving in Arab banks.

Only yorubas seem to believe that nigeria a stormy entity with chaotic opposing forces and interests pulling at each other everyday will magically survive a 1000 years. While the futuristic Hausa and Igbo are preparing for the post-nigeria existence. Yoruba should be wiser than this.
Yorubas are already prepared for that eventuality, look around you, their region is the most prepared to stand alone as a single entity. They already have everything a sovereign nation requires to prosper. But they are just not known to boast, they wait for the best moment, aren't you surprised about how they always get the best end of the pie every time? Tact my friend is a million times better than bluff.

The refinery is being funded by CBN,is like a ppuplic private partnership (ppp)..
Dangote is like just a co owner ..
Lagos is already congested & virtually all the crude oil tht will be refined there will be from ss.
so y not locate the refinery in the ss & save the cost of bringing crude down to refine in sw.
moreover, the ss needs the presence of tht refinery more than lagos coz ss tht has dis oil is still backward in terms of developement coz their God given resources is shared among states tht have little or no contribution they make to federal cofers,,,
Dangote should bring his refinery to the SS, so that Tompolo and his ilk can bomb it to the ground any time they need money? And so that people like you can defend him for doing so? Who paid Dangote for the trailers that were burnt in Onitsha, You can't eat your cake and have it. If you want development, you will need to first cultivate the habit of peace and call out criminal elements among you.

Show me the domain where Igbos are present without dominating.
lagos : they were threatened by the Oba with Lagoon and their shops are being destroyed at will by government, yet they can't do nothing but wail. Lagos state government seems to have realized that they bring more liability than value to the state.

Ondo: their Eze was publicly flogged and as usual they didn't do anything, they can only wail.
