Nairaland / General / Supreme Court Judges' Arrest: Rev. King To Be Released Unconditionally. by HyperBase(m): 10:02am On Oct 11, 2016
ARREST AND DETENTION OF CORRUPT NIGERIAN SUPREME COURT JUDGES: Concerned Nigerians, Lawyers demand total Re-trial or Unconditional release of Dr. Rev. King, Others.

By: Iherue Chibuike; 10th October, 2016.

Following shocking revelations of massive judicial graft stemming from last weekend's invasion, arrest and detention of some Appellate and Supreme Court Judges by the Department of State Service (DSS) in the course of a sting operation, Nigerians whose relatives and loved ones appeared to be direct victims of pervasion of justice by the aforementioned corrupt judicial officers are demanding an outright re-trial or an unconditional release of these victims of bribe induced judgements.

Speaking to reporters who were on the streets of Lagos to sample public opinion on the current efforts of the present administration towards the Fight Against Corruption, Mr. Chukwudi King; a resident of Ogudu Estate in Lagos, who further introduced himself both as a biological relative to Dr. Rev. King and a member of his church was visibly elated at the development but regretted that all efforts made during the course of Rev. King's trial to get the NJC to wade into and investigate the obvious case of bribery which went on in broad day-light between the prosecution and the trial judge at the lower court, fell on deaf ears.

He (Mr. Chukwudi King) however expressed optimism that as soon as the state succeeds in establishing bribery and corruption cases against the arrested Supreme Court judges and have them convicted, it would be morally expedient on the government to follow the judicial precedence laid by the reversal of the conviction of Mr. Olabode George; a South-West PDP chieftain, in giving back justice to every Nigerian who had suffered bias in the hands of these evil men, after it was discovered years after Olabode's sentence that his conviction was in error and consequently, left off the hook unconditionally.

A legal practitioner; Barr. O. Johnson, who took a while off his busy schedule to speak to correspondents at the premesis of Igbosere Magistrate Court opined that there is nothing wrong in the executive taking steps to sanitize the nations judicial system, affirming his support for the fight against corruption by the Buhari Government, asserting also that no one is above the law including the judges of the highest cadre. Having said that, he further pointed out that he has a bit of problem with the gestapo style invasion which the law enforcement agents employed in carrying out their duty making a clear case for respect of the rule of law even in the strangest of circumstances.

A woman who prefered to speak on condition of anonymity gave kudos to the DSS for a job-well-done while encouraging the officers of the law to beam their searchlight on more judges both at the High and Appellate courts. In her opinion, the likes of Justice Olubunmi Joseph Oyewole; who sadly, is now an apeal court judge, who handled Rev. King's murder trial at the level of the High Court, where acoording to her, the bulk of the bribery took place, should be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted as the crackdown on corruption at the level of the Judiciary, which incidentally, is the third arm of government, will not be complete until such "judicial disasters" as Justice Oyewole are not only shown the way out of Nigeria's judiciary but prosecuted and jailed to serve as deterrent to others.

It would be recalled that the Supreme Court Justices, caught in the web of that sting operation over the last weekend by the DSS, where Cash of various hard-currecies and denominations running into Billions were recovered from their homes, are part of the Eight-Man bench who sat over Rev. King's matter at the level of the Supreme Court; Who against expectations of even great legal luminaries, watered down all the grounds of appeal raised by Rev. King on frivolous excuses absolutely unknown to law.

[quote author=LEGALAide post=43698323]

“However, after her death, her two statements in police letter-headed papers [sic] disappeared mysteriously and in its place, a foolscap sheet was used to fabricate what was said to be her statement".

Could the police have used the statement of a dead witness in court which statement isn't a dying declaration?
I think this is pure sentiment. - God does not need the help and opinion of the public to deal a devastating defeat on Satan and his agents. - Now to the subject. The case for which Rev. King was sentenced to death was a sheer frame up. If the trials were not an arrangie-trial, tell me how the contradicting accounts of the incident by prosecution witnesses would have passed undisturbed through both the Appeal and Supreme Courts. The deceased; Ann Uzuh was NOT a maid to Rev. King as was widely reported. First, Ann and her father - until the fire incident that took her life - were members of Rev. King's church who had not the right words to thank Rev. King for what he was doing in their lives and their family. Ann Uzuh was one of the thousands who were studying under Rev. Kings scholarship. An announcement was made by the church sometime in 2005 publicizing job opportunities for men and women who were interested in working at the church quarters where Rev. King lived. Scores of members of the church applied, including Ann and luckily, she succeeded as one of those who were employed. These employees of the church lived at a section quite different from where Rev. King lived. They lived at the boys quarters while king lived ALONE at the main building.
On that fateful Saturday evening, 25th Day of July, 2006, Dr. Rev. King returned home from work and there was no light in the neighborhood due to power outage from the then NEPA. He immediately alighted from his car and moved up the stairs waiting for the workers to put on the generating set so he can move into his room. He had barely undressed before there came a loud cry and shout down stairs and he quickly rushed down the stairs again to find out what was going on, only to see Ann covered in flames. At this time, her co-workers were all standing a distance away from her just watching without doing anything to help her. Rev. King himself rushed towards Ann, dared the fire on her, stretched his hand and caught Ann by her clothes, dragged her down on a tap right on the wall beside him and turned on the tap which helped put out the fire. At this time, Ann had already stopped breathing.
Rev. King instantly revived her, poured oil on her burns before he began to ask Ann's co-workers what happened to her. Surprisingly, no one of them uttered a word. Rev. King brought out his car, took Ann himself into his car, and drove her to Faith City Hospital in Ajao Estate, Lagos (in person) where he asked the hospital to take care of her and also got a member of the church to stay by her while she takes treatment. Rev. King that night, also instructed that a formal report be made to the Police before he left for home. When he got home, surprisingly also, there was no one to open the gates for him, he opened the gates himself and drove into the quarters only to discover that the workers had all packed their belongings and left. The next time he saw some of them were on TV where they were telling the world that Rev. King poured petrol on them and set them on fire. - While Ann Uzuh was in the hospital, she made statements to the police both on paper and on tape. By this time, Rev. king had been arrested. In her statement, Ann stated how she was burnt by a fire explosion from the gen. set, how she mistakenly tried to top some petrol in the gen. set while it was already steaming and the result was an explosion. She stated categorically that Rev. King was nowhere close to the scene of the incident before the explosion. The Faith City Hospital in her statement also confirmed that it was Rev. King who brought Ann Uzuh to the hospital in person. - I was most surprise that the Police, during Rev. King's trial at the high Court, managed to remove Ann's statements from the case file. It took Rev. King's team of lawyers' foresightedness to exhume the written statement by Ann while till date, there was no trace of the statement made by Ann on tape. It was a show of shame by the Police at the Ikeja High Court on that fateful day, when against the expectation of the police and prosecutors, the written statements made by Ann to the Police on two different occasions surfaced in the court. The Police had no option but confirm to the court, after they were allowed to peruse the documents, that those were truly Ann's statements and in both occasions, Ann's statements exonerated Rev. King of any complicity. While Rev. King's lawyers congratulated themselves for that break-through, to everyone's surprise, Justice Olubunmi Joseph Oyewole of the Ikeja High Court, for no cogent reason, refused to admit Ann's statement as evidence for the defense. All the lawyers present watching brief on that day, including scores of Senior Advocates (SANs) cried foul against Oyewole's decision lamenting that the Judge's decision not to admit the victim's statements as evidence will amount to a severe miscarriage of justice against Rev. King which finally proved to be the case. - Those of us who are Christians, who had always found it difficult to understand what transpired between Jesus Christ Of Nazareth Our Lord and the Pharisees, Saducees and the scribes who are known as the journalists of today, the govt and earthly Judges of Jesus' days (Herod and Pontious Pilate), should just put Rev. King's ordeal side by side with that of Our Lord Jesus Christ and the testimonies of the New Testament Bible about Jesus and every single bit of the gist will be very clear to you. Have you ever wondered why Satan and his agents would always want to accuse anyone sent from God - who preaches against fornication and adultery according to the dictates of the word of God - of that which he preaches against in order to stop him? It happened to My dear Jesus Christ when he was accused of fornicationg with Mary Magdalene. - For purposes of setting the records straight, Rev. King, contrary to what the prosecution and their co-conspirators have made people believe, did NOT hurt anyone. How many Nigerian parents does not flog their children at home anytime they need to be corrected using that medium? Why then would anyone cry foul when his child is mildly chastized in the church for the same purpose? These are what some rag-tag journalists/Occultists like Reuben Abati of Guardian Newspapers and Dele Agekameh of the Nation Newspapers have decided to spend their time on, instead of using their columns to try to profer solution to the many problems of Nigeria

I have observed, shamefully though, that so many people in Nigeria appear to have developed this self-destructive hatred against God and and his servants, hence this deliberate gullibility over every negative story crafted against God, Churches, pastors, even worshipers etc. So many would even go as far as believing that God or even Jesus Christ stole a lady's panties without caring to ask what purpose the action is for. The Chizoba of a lady will even not cause you erection one bit even if she is stark naked before you. why didnt they post her pictures. How? Person dey chop beans on top gari inside prison you dey here praise him. Thank you.
I don't understand why some people won't just stop speaking out of hatred and sentiments and look at issues on its merit. Even Jesus Christ was tortured and crucified before men accessed salvation; Prophet Mohammed was persecuted in various cities of the world including Mecca and was almost killed before Medina accepted him and made him their leader; we talk about Mandela today even after he has died because he was the symbol of the apartheid struggle. He didn't even see beans and garri at a point to eat. That Kanu is eating beans and garri means nothing. I strongly believe that before he thought about leading the Biafran struggle, he knew what he is going to come up against. All I kNow is that it is the right of any "people" within a given Nation - state to self-determination and you know what? Even though I have my reservation oN part of the IPOB procedure to self determination, I still think these guys are heroes. There are other sections of Nigeria that are also tired of this union but will rather not cough 'cos they are cowards. My opinion though.

I DONT KNOW WHY THE IGBOS WANT TO KILL THEMSELVES OVER BUHARI'S APPOINTMENT. THIS MAN PROMISED CHANGE AND IF IGNORING FEDERAL CHARACTER IN THE APPOINTMENTS DOESN'T EQUATE TO CHANGE FROM OLD WAY OF DOING THINGS THEN WHAT IS CHANGE Y'ALL SHOULD KEEP CRYING AND WEEPING. WE THE YORUBAS INVESTED SO MUCH IN HIS PRESIDENCY BUT WE ARE NOT SCREAMING MARGINALIZATION. IF HE LIKES, LET HIM APPOINT CAMEROONIANS IN ALL POSITION WHAT MATTERS IS THE FULFILMENT OF CAMPAIGN PROMISES AND AN ENABLING ENVIROMENT FOR EVERYONE TO THRIVE. YOU IGBOS VOTED FOR GEJ IN MASS AND YOU ALL SHOULD EXPECT NOTHING IN RETURN. Y'ALL ARE A CONFUSED BUNCH. TODAY U WANT Biafra, THE NEXT DAY U SCREAM MARGINALIZATION FROM THE SAID ZOO AS PROCLAIMED BY YOUR SUICIDE MISSION LEADER NNAMDI KANU. BUHARI CAN CHOOSE 100% NORTHERNERS. NOBODY CARES undecided
. Very unfortunately, this is coming out from a frustrated nobody. You and your comments ooz the outdated yoruba tribalist sentiments. Want to believe you are a youth yet you sound like some of those very old yoruba women who have spent all their life shuttling between their mud house and their farm; who have got no iota of civilization. For your information, everyone in a democracy have got right to vote for whoever he/she chooses and even if the candidate he/she voted for looses, the winner of the election have an obligation to see to the welfare of all and sundry, both those who voted for him and those who didn't vote for him. Instead of encouraging your Buhari to grow up and eschew politics of hatred and wickedness, you typical yoruba dundee/follow-follow are now encouraging him because you guys share the some spirit of wickedness. Yours is even worse because your own wickedness mixed up with acute poverty. Zombie, pls open your eyes! I have GREAT respect for those good-minded, foresighted Yoruba men & women who knew that Buhari can never change from being a bigot, who chose not to vote for him. If people like you who voted for Buhari from the West are yet to see that you have been scammed, you then must be a slowpoke. Maybe you gay are yet to know that PMB have already began to deny that he made any promise to Nigerians. Grow up MUMU, grow up.

There is no bigger evidence of PDP's hypocrisy than this Wike - Amaechi saga.

PDP and her supporters see absolutely nothing wrong in Wike probing only Amaechi's government, despite the fact he had many that occupied the office before him, but they see everything wrong in Buhari probing only Jonathan's government, and use bull horns to scream from every single rooftop that he begins his probe from Lord Lugard.

Only fools fall for their hollow gimmicks.
. No one is against Buhari's probe to recover looted funds. What we spoke against was the selective nature of the exercise but that was in the past. Buhari should be fast with the probe. We want to see him start doing it not a former millitary General talking too much like a night market woman with NO action, labelling people who are yet to be condemned by a competent court of law as thieves. Wike is talking and doing the probe. That's the difference and Amaechi should go and defend himself in order to start serving his prison sentence now he is young. It will be more difficult for hiM to cope in jail at an older age.

You can't imagine what I 've been through getting my truck drivers to be reasonable. First thought that changing them would solve it but the more you change them, the more you employ those who are worse. Had to sell off one vehicle at some point to be able to make up for a customer's 10Tons load of rice damaged after an accident due to over-speeding on the part of my driver employee. We need it oo. I'm of the view that the price be subsidized, that's all.

It actuallyn sucks to have someone else help me with interpretations when I listen to my President talk. However, it has become a reality we must come to terms with at least for the next four years. My take is that PMB should do something to fulfil the promises made during then campaigns and not to keep inaundating us with new ones while things go from bad to worse.
