What we have is a Fish Market ("Whevihi" or Oja Eja) which holds every nine days. Several of the fish sellers also sell dried or smoked snakes. But the major wares in the market are fish, crayfish/prawns, crabs, and other seafood. Badagry, a place of culture, history, and tradition. #irepBADAGRYanyday! Come visit soon. |

Tolatutu: Definitely the school authorities have failed the children in their care. Security measures should have been put in place and any teacher found wanting should have been fired and handed over to the police to serve as a lesson to others. Allowing perpetuators to get away with it only makes the others bolder. By law the children are the minors who need protection, any grown man that knows he cant handle been around young impressionable girls who may have crushes on him should know he should not be a teacher otherwise he should get ready to go to jail. THE THING INSIDE YOUR SKULL IS DEFINITELY NOT AKAMU! IT IS PURE BRAIN. YOU DEMONSTRATED AN INSIGHTFUL UNDERSTANDING OF THE ISSUES INVOLVED IN CASE. SOUND REASONING AND LOGICAL CONCLUSION! PAINTING WITH WORDS I will paint a verse of rhyme Brushing the strokes in steady rhythm Applying my words like vibrant colours Strumming my strings like expert players
My colours are winsome words Screaming silently sonorous sounds My colours are creative chords Striking pleasantly melodious tunes
I will paint with my ink Deep down my thoughts will sink I will paint with my words Smoothly strumming my poetic chords
Of the starry heavens I will speak And the eternal joy which I seek Of the blue sea, a place of life Of the wicked world, a place of strife
I will tell the forgotten tale Of when our nation was hearty and hale I will spray words like showers of rain Of the evil things which now reign
I will tell of the beauty of Africa The sweet sounds of laughter I will speak of the serenity Of the enchanting Serengeti
The songs of birds in the trees The gentleness of the evening breeze The innocence of the peaceful dove And the many colours of true love
I will mix colours of proverbs I will apply the brush of pleasant rhymes Vicissitudes of life will be my paint box Vistas of bygone years my brushstrokes
Facets of love will be my melodies Storms of existence, my cacophonies Discordant tunes of life’s complexities The sojourn with no journey mercies
I will paint with my ink Deep down my thoughts will sink I will paint with my words Smoothly strumming my poetic chords
I will paint my words in eternal colours And blue rhythms that scream silent screams.

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: How To Get A Graduate Assistant Job by iamclime(m): 5:01pm On Mar 19, 2016 |
Shinelle: this thread is really insightful... thanks to all contributors.
I'm actually in a similar dilemma... (B.sc Accounting-First class/Best Graduating student , M.sc in view, ICAN in progress, rounding off nysc very soon)
I schooled in a state university however and I'm not an indigene of that state as such I'm wondering how easy/difficult it would be getting in... I applied to start my M.sc there also.. I've always loved teaching people, my only reservation with GA/ lecturing is I really would love to go to the field before coming back to teach others.
for example, I find it amusing that someone who lectures Auditing has never audited any accounts before.. I dont know...
therefore.. would y'all advise a graduate like to work and garner experience or to go straight with my "textbook knowledge"? If you have opportunity to gather some experience before venturing into academics, please do. It definitely improves your pedagogy and performance. It also boosts the morale of your students to know that their lecturer is/was a practitioner on the subject matter. I will always remember Dr. A.A Idris and the way he taught Sales Management. You know you are being tutored by someone who has been in the field. Most of the things taught in our schools are esoteric in nature. It's time we change the way we do things, including the way we teach. All the best. |
Romance › Re: Wife And Husband Duties You Should Totally Avoid While Dating by iamclime(m): 8:54pm On Mar 18, 2016 |
Jaymima: 1. It’s fine to court or pursue your lady of interest by taking her out to eat, movies, dates, buying a birthday gift, etc as you are getting to know her. Just don’t spend or give excessive amounts of money when asked because if you are you are being foolish, simply whipped or being used by a gold digger. Don’t confuse the getting to know process with providing as you would do for a wife. You should not be paying for bills, cars, rent and/or shopping sprees while dating. 2. A woman is a Queen but she is not YOUR QUEEN until you two are married so you shouldn’t live together while dating. Never get ahead of yourself losing perspective because there is no rush so be patient. Don’t give her every waking moment you or she has free for that matter. Keep your freedom to do things with your partners, kids and/or friends and she should have her space as well to hang out with her girls, go shopping, etc. She deserves QUALITY TIME but NOT ALL YOUR TIME while dating. #2 Wife Actions Cooking meals for him on the regular Washing his dirty drawers Living together Scheduling doctors appointments Attending all family functions Just started dating? Heck no! Showing up with a 1950s apron and bags filled with groceries will scare off any man you’ve just started getting to know. Your intentions are good… you just want to be nice and cater to him. Women show love by nurturing. As stereotypical as it sounds, it’s only natural to want to bake a cake or tidy up his place. You’re also subconsciously trying to prove to him that you are wife-material. Your actions are screaming “Marry me! I can cook! I can clean! I can take good care of you!” But all that does is make most men think you’re crazy and/or desperate (especially if you’ve just met them). Solid relationship? Still no…. but if you must, do so in moderation. The whole courting phase in relationships is something that has become extinct. Nowadays people don’t really know how to date. We always jump from 0 to 60 in 60 seconds. Marriage is a big commitment and it’s a big step for men in particular. Women, if you start acting like you’re married when you’re actually just dating he could become complacent in the relationship. As the saying goes, why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free? That saying is typically used for sex, but the fact is there are other benefits of a relationship that should be saved for marriage as well. #3 Husband Actions 3. We all know the Bible says we are not suppose to have sex until married but the reality is 99% of the time we do so I will keep it real and not act like I’m too righteous for folks. A woman you are dating is not your property so you can’t demand sex whenever you want it. Be patient and when both of you are ready and decide to have sex then and only then should it occur. ALWAYS USE PROTECTION WITH ANYONE YOU ARE DATING NO MATTER WHAT SHE SAYS ABOUT BEING ON BIRTH CONTROL, TUBES ARE TIED, HAD A SHOT, ETC,! Too many diseases out here and too many children being brought into this world into single family homes so PUT ON A CONDOM if you are engaging in intercourse while dating after all it takes only 10 seconds! 4. While you are getting to know your lady of interest, you should not take on the father role of her kids. We will never agree on the correct time to even introduce kids to a new man because every situation varies thus can be different, so I won’t even go there. Just know for the well being and health of a kid he/she should not have multiple men coming in and out of their lives. For all of you thinking what if the kid doesn’t like him, I ask you who is dating the man you or the kid(s)? Kids should never dictate WHO YOU DATE. YOU ARE THE ADULT. Kid(s) eventually leave the nest or home and then create their own family. A husband is still there when they are gone to live the rest of your life with. Never get too involved in a kid(s) life or get too attached while dating if you don’t have plans to permanently stay which would ultimately mean marrying his/her Mother! Some of you are thinking you should be giving your all to whoever you are dating and that is all well and good but I ask you to think about how many boyfriends/girlfriends you have had in life. Truth is many people come and many people go in a lifetime so that is the main reason you should wait until the holy sacrament of marriage to be 100% vested emotionally, physically and spiritually in love with each other with no conditions. #4 Wife Actions Attending all family functions Giving him large amounts of cash Cleaning his place Helping him manage his bills Save the wifely duties for after you jump the broom, especially if he’s not reciprocating with any husbandly duties! Does he wash your car? Does he take out your trash? Does he fix things around your house? Make sure it’s a two-way street and not you just auditioning for the part of Mrs. Right. Try your hardest to eliminate all of these things from your relationship, but at the very least keep it to a minimum so it’s not something that he’s expecting on the regular. Your relationship should be focused on enjoying each other’s company, not how great of a chef and housekeeper you are! PLEASE SHARE..THIS NEEDS TO BE SPREAD! THANKS Source: NO DAILY. Really? And your signature says www.jw.org? With these opinions, especially number 3? I'm in doubt. |

[quote author=GenoMI post=43578115]Yes @ednut1, the job seekers certainly out-number the jobs as you rightly pointed out. BUT did you know that the gap between the skills that young job seekers have, and those required by employers in today's job market is the 2nd largest driver of youth unemployment in Africa? You can find all the statistics here - http://www.africaneconomicoutlook.org/en/theme/youth_employment/obstacles-and-needs-of-young-people-in-african-labour-markets/Our graduates most definitely need help articulating their skills and values in a way that employers find attractive. I've had to screen CV's and also sit in interviews, and well, I'll just say that I know for a fact that a lot of graduates in this country need job market training that they are not receiving from our tertiary institutions. Regarding your point about people getting multiple offers before they even serve, it still happens today o. It still happens, trust me. I personally know a number of young graduates who employers have pretty much fought over - the savvy ones even use it as a salary bargaining chip. I had a similar experience while working in the HR unit of a large government parastatal. The disconnect between applicants' knowledge/skills set and the job requirements is appalling. I have concluded that a good percentage of the ESOTERIC courses taught in our schools is IRRELEVANT to the world of work. Schools are teaching one thing, employers are asking for another. Unfortunately, many youths and graduates have REFUSED to improve their knowledge/skill set. It is only graduates themselves that can break the vicious cycle. The idea is continuous personal development and a constant desire to stay RELEVANT. May God help us all. |
