What if the bride price was paid but returned and yet the bride is handed to the groom's family. Is there a traditional marriage?
Yes, there is. Returning the bride price does not constitute rejection of same, neither does it invalidate the marriage. It is just a gesture by some families indicating that they are not "selling" their daughter. It is neither required nor expected.

RomanceRe: My 3yrs Distant Friend Wants To Visit And Spend Days by iamclime(m): 6:22pm On Sep 24, 2016
Xensity:
If a woman sees you as less of a man just because you decide to cling to your moral principles of not having sex with a woman you aren't married to, then it says a lot about her, and the kind of person she is.

You haven't indicated through your post, whether or not you are actually in love with her, or whether you want to eventually get married to her, but whichever it is, I don't think a woman's opinion about your manliness, matters at all in the grand scheme of things. Think about this: If eventually she comes to your house and you tell her that you don't want to have sex with her because of your moral principles, what does it matter? What does one person's opinion of you matter? Is her opinion more important than your principles as a man? Are you going to break your moral codes just because of a person's opinion about you? And you aren't even sure she is going to think such about you, so this might be a case of you jumping into conclusion.

On the issue of self control, if you feel that you won't be able to control yourself if she comes to your house, which is going to lead to you doing something you would regret, then the best advice would be to not allow her come to your house.

But to propose a better compromise, I will say this:
I think humans evolved speech for a reason. Every dilemma we are involved in can be resolved by simple conversation. I think you are too old to be worrying about anyone's opinion about you. Whether or not people would misinterpret your gesture as a sign of immorality shouldn't be your concern.
If you want to accept the lady's request of coming to your house and you don't want to engage in any sexual act with her, or not want to face sexual temptation, then the best thing is to engage in an open end discussion with her about this, when she comes to your house. This would make things easier for you.
Now, this is a sensible comment. I think having a chaperone while she is around is also a good idea. What is bad is bad, no matter what people think or say. Premarital sex is bad. It's that simple.

Eketem:
1. Your emotions and fears are valid don't let anyone downplay it for you or force you to automatically accept this and act happy

2. You have been through a lot with conception so it is a shock to find this out

3. Don't rush into trying to be her mother, even your husband cannot automatically become her father, you guys are just getting to know each other, she has her own mother the best you can do is get to know her as she is and as you are no pretence.

4. Extend the basic decency and fairness in relating to her, don’t be rude or project your insecurity on her. Be calm let whatever relationship you would have with her naturally develop

5. She is coming to meet her father not to snatch your husband or too make her mother marry your husband, you are his wife she is his daughter there is no competition

6. I wish you the best. The worst thing you can do at the point is suppress your hurt and pretend. It would burst one day
I go with this comment. It makes good sense. Op, take one step at a time. No need to rush. Peace be yours.

FamilyRe: Who Owns Me? by iamclime(m): 8:31am On Sep 13, 2016
Bros, nobody owns you except God. So please do what God who owns you wants you to do. If you read the Bible, reading and prayerfully meditating on the following verses will help. All the advise you need is there: Psalm 36:9; Matthew 6: 14, 15; Galatians 6:5; Colossians 3:23-25. Please ensure you read those verses and also reason on them together with your mom, when she is a bit calm, of course. God's thoughts on how you can proceed are found in those verses. May your peace increase.

tiredsoul:
Failure.
Failed relationship.
Hardship.
Depression.
Just getting it wrong all the time.

Those are just few of many issues in my life. People see me and maybe even envy my life but they don't know I don't have one ounce of happiness. If there is any form of joy in my life, am sure it doesn't last 1 hour.

The other day, I locked my room and tied a rope to the ceiling, I just couldn't do it, I don't know what's holding me back, maybe my mother's prayer. I tried suffocating myself, it doesn't work. I just wish I can get something quick and quiet that could kill me from my sleep. Life is not worth living anymore.

The other day, I read about a guy jumping from a roof, he escaped death, that would be worst. I don't want that.

Please, what could be wrong with me? Am losing it, am literally a walking ghost. And I can't tell anyone. Is there a quick and painless way to die.?
You really need help. But do you really WANT help? If so, contact your Bible. You can also go to www.JW.org. You will definitely get a lot of help from there. Speaking about learning from other's experiences.

I went there with my blueprint designs for the drone technology i had been working on, one capable of helping the government eradicate every loss from bank robberies, that would perform routine surveillance at delicate areas in the country, a drone that has 3G chip programmed to act intelligently on its own, avoid all obstacles on its own and the best part is they would all be controlled from a base station here in the country.

I had proposed a manufacturing industry that would recoup an income after tax of 16.5 Million naira every month for the first few months of startup and increasing from the first 8 months. A project that needed just 95 million naira as investment in total (Setup, Raw materials, Premises, etc) and all its raw materials are readily coming from the north en masse. Products from this factory would also be in increasing demands for exports and thereby helping its growth, helping the economy, employing more youths and grossing an increasing revenue. It can only get better with it.

I had proposed a technology solution where the government can get stop the leakage of about 199 billion naira annually, which it is helpless completely now to stop. Still they didn't see those ones.

I had proposed another technology solution that would gross millions of dollars in revenues from inwards and other african coiuntries. That is how you become a china of your continent. They didn't see that one too

I took it in good faith thinking since my points weren't good enough, i would get to hear of bigger ideas for the country and for which, would motivate me BUT what i was hearing was...............
Pivot5, are you really serious about your proposed innovation? Pm me; I have met some angel investors who are Nigerians and are looking for viable ideas to sponsor or invest in. I will just give you a brief of what they said they wanted, their contacts, then you can take it from there. All the best.

FoodRe: Have You Seen This Lucifer Biscuit? (pictures) by iamclime(m): 7:56pm On Jul 30, 2016
LUCIFER SIMPLY MEANS "SHINING ONE", AS STATED IN ISAIAH 14:4, 12. IT DID NOT INITIALLY REFER TO SATAN BUT TO THE KING OF BABYLON. THAT LUCIFER IS SATAN IS A DOCTRINAL ERROR THAT HAS BEEN PASSED ON FOR AGES. A LITTLE RESEARCH WILL HELP. AS FOR THIS BISCUIT, THE MAKERS ARE JUST GOING WITH POPULAR OPINION.
FamilyRe: Re: Any Married Lady Who Never Had This Is As Good As Unmarried. by iamclime(m): 12:49am On Jul 18, 2016
Nice points there. ADDENDUM: For a customary (traditional marriage) to be legally recognized, three things must take place:
I. Payment of the bride price in full (bride price is actually the official amount stipulated by the government, not all those items/fees asked by the in-laws)

II. Acceptance of the bride price by the bride's parents/family

III. Handing over of the bride to the groom's family.

After these conditions have been met, the couple is deemed legally married. However, if the couple wishes to have documentation, they can proceed to the Local Government to obtain a Certificate of Registration of Marriage (Form C). Take note that this Form C is different from the Registrar's Certificate (also labeled Form C) which is issued to those applying to the Marriage Registry to perform a Statutory Marriage.
