Jobs/VacanciesRe: A New Job, But Am So Confused by iamclime(m): 3:41pm On Mar 04, 2017
My brother, the first question you should ask yourself is: What is best for my family? Then what is my main motivator as an employee? Is it remuneration? Incentives? Opportunities? Career progression? Or job satisfaction and work-life balance? The work-life balance in Lagos is very poor. But whatever you decide, remember that your family takes priority over other things. Money is not the most important thing in life; our families need our time, our affection, and our attention. Many people discover this too late in life. Peace to you!

Thank you very much. Really I appreciate. The name of the company is tyonex nig. Ltd
If it's Tyonex, then you alight at Igando after the BRT bus stop. Move pass the junction of Ikotun Road towards LASU, then cross to the other side of the road. Tyonex is after the shopping complex.

EducationRe: The Problem Of Getting Transcripts From Nigerian Universities By Ann Meje by iamclime(m): 8:40am On Dec 16, 2016
Digitizing voluminous academic data has been a long standing problem in Nigerian universities. The challenges are enormous but not insurmountable. However, LASU has taken first steps several years ago, way before many other Nigerian universities. Any genuine LASU graduate can get his complete academic profile by just typing in his Matriculation Number on http://www.dpu.lasu.edu.ng He will see all courses he took while in school and his CGPA up to graduation. He may use this as a temporary proof of his academic history while waiting for his transcript. I will give more details on the process of obtaining a transcript in LASU soon. We are LASU, we are PROUD!
Jobs/VacanciesWere You Selected For The Youth Alternative Career Development Project (YACDEP)? by iamclime(op): 9:28am On Dec 04, 2016
Is there anyone here who has been selected for the YACDEP 2016 by AFREDI? I got selected but don't know what to expect. It's partially funded anyway. I'm thinking of giving it a shot. What do you say, people?

EducationRe: Please Help ! My Project Topic Is Giving Me Headache by iamclime(m): 8:10am On Dec 04, 2016
How did you choose the topic in the first place? It is good to choose topics you have already confirmed are researchable and that you can get relevant literature on. The key words here would be PUBLIC CONFIDENCE and AUDIT REPORT.
CareerRe: Thread For Aspiring Lecturers by iamclime(m): 5:48pm On Dec 02, 2016
sholay2011:
My 2 cents will be people who have the chance (via Class of Degree or money-wise) should try going abroad for Masters and other post graduate studies. There is an amount of exposure and ideology-shift one gets, especially if you go to the right school.

Because sometimes, to improve the system requires thinking outside the box and being stuck in the usual naija cycle of academics MAY not be the best option. Nonetheless, many of the lecturers that taught me in my undergraduate claimed to have gotten one degree or another abroad but their thinking is still the same cry, at least judging from the way they acted towards their students or treated the act of teaching itself. It is not about coming back to Nigeria with one funny accent.

I am currently doing my Masters abroad and though don't intend lecturing, it surprises me how someone will spend two years where I am and still think in the same way for Christ's sake: that teaching your students is doing them a favour whereas they paid school fees for crying out loud! That you must just write a research paper to quicken promotion whereas it advances nothing in your field of study! That your title (PhD / Prof) is more important than acquiring knowledge itself and effectively communicating it to students! That putting unnecessary fear in your students equals true respect (dear, ask what they say behind your back lipsrsealed)!

If some future lecturers are in this thread, please, if you are not ready to stand out for a positive difference (because Nigerian education is at the verge of collapse if you don't know), just pray and work hard for an office job than destroy the innocent lives that may be
committed to your hands. Thank you.
Bia nwannem, you get sense! You just spoke undiluted truth. This is the gospel we have been preaching for a long while now. Imagine a country where graduate students are treated like high school students. A university where lecturers believe they are doing fee-paying students a favour by writing half-baked and ill-researched text and compelling them to buy! Where lecturers only write journal articles just to qualify for the next promotion and not necessarily to contribute to knowledge! Where many lecturers have never really practiced the courses they teach. In fact, I just tire jare!
CareerRe: Thread For Aspiring Lecturers by iamclime(m): 4:56pm On Dec 02, 2016
Mbkite:
nice thread.....
Please before you enter class room to lecture, make sure you have practiced what you studied for at least 2years. we need to close the gap between theories and practicals. we need to stop producing half baked graduates.
Anybody who has not practiced for a minimum two years should not be allowed to lecture. that's my take.
The best comment I have read so far. Many of our courses are esoteric in nature. Many lecturers do not know jack about what they teach, apart from what they have read in the books. This is especially the case in the Management Sciences. Imagine an Accounting lecturer who has never worked in any accounting role in the industry or a Marketing lecturer who has never worked in Sales, Product Development, Marketing Communications or Marketing Research! It is so pathetic! God willing, I see in myself a seasoned academic in the nearest future, one who can bridge the gap between theory and practice. Marketing rocks!

Jobs/VacanciesRe: What Type Of Job(s) Will You Like To Do For Free? by iamclime(m): 8:51am On Nov 07, 2016
I wont mind lecturing or tutoring students for free: High school or A-level English, Economics and Marketing. For higher levels, Entrepreneurship Management, Core Marketing courses, and Research Methodologies. I won't also mind providing expert help or guidance on research design, instrumentation, data gathering, analysis, and reporting.Event planning and management is another thing I love doing. Then throw in youth mentoring, guidance and counseling. All these I have done and still doing for free. Terms and conditions apply, nevertheless.
