Phones / Re: Infinix Unveils Hot 10 Play Device In Nigeria by IamDavid(m): 7:20pm On Jan 17, 2021
Hmmmm... Okay.

1. First and foremost, 2gb ram is small for an Android phone in 2021. (At least go for 3gb version)
2. It uses an A20 processor. This is the biggest downside of the phone in my opinion. That's a low end processor that will probably slow down significantly with time (Especially the 2gb ram version)
3. The battery will definitely be long lasting.

But instead of this, I'll recommend the regular hot 10, it's just about 60k. 3gb ram, Helio G70 processor and... It's just a better deal in my opinion.

I so much love flagships but I can't splash 400k on a smartphone right now. I used to buy old flagships but battery life showed me shege. Now I'm comfortably rocking my Infinix note 8i. Good stuff from Samsung but I'll choose iPhone 12 pro over it.

Sports / Re: Someone Withdrew All The Money From My Sportybet Account by IamDavid(m): 9:33am On Jan 17, 2021
This same format was used for my friend yesterday. His account got wiped. 41k gone, sadly that included his school fees and school resumption is by the way. I would have loved to take it up legally but the moment I discovered he actually disclosed an snet code to someone, I just gave up. I don't like fighting loosing battles.

This is what happened
He saw a post on a WhatsApp TV, claiming to be the link to getting a bonus of N500 on sportybet. He clicked the link which I believe took him to a cloned log in page of sportybet. He logged in (dropped his log in for scammers) and saw a congratulation notification. He didn't what just transpired and tried logging in on the app later on the app, he was denied! Apparently his password has been changed or account temporarily unavailable. He then received an otp from snet, and he has been chatting with the WhatsApp TV on how to claim the bonus. So the guy asked for a confirmation code and he dropped it. Before he knew it, he received a debit alert of 41k and that was it. So be watchful guys, you probably dropped your details unknowing. And don't trust WhatsApp TV's.

If you're sure you didn't drop your info anywhere, please take it up legally.

Education / Re: Covid 19: Reopening Schools Is Playing With Fire by IamDavid(m): 1:44pm On Jan 15, 2021
BENARI:
While I am totally against another full lockdown, I am equally against the reopening of not all schools, but nursery, primary, and secondary schools. Reason being that this schools bring pupils in very close contact with one another daily; forget all the Face Shield and Hand Washing protocols. In the last term, my kids wore thier face Shields daily, carried their hand sanitizers in thier school bags daily, and the school provided humidifiers, hand sanitizers, and hand washing points in the school, but they didn't prevent the kids from catching cold repeatedly as is always the case whenever school is in session. I even suspect without hard proof though, that one of my kids could have contracted the virus, because on the particular day he was mildly ill and was not in school, I called in to the school, and the class teacher confirmed to me that about 4 other pupils besides mine where also not in school because of illness on a class oc 13 pupils. Funny enough my wife and I had very similar symptoms within a space of 48hours, but thankfully we got better without taking any drugs. We decided to at least for a time allow our body fight it rather than taking any drugs that could weaken the immune system.

During the same last term, our kids school to my surprise invited parents for open day not minding the effect it could have. Yes parents were asked to put on thier masks, but many were simply covering their mouths with it while the nose which is the entry and exit for the virus were usually left uncovered. Some other parent complained of breathing difficulties and would generally just shift the mask under the jaw.

While in the school, even with all the supposed stage management the school management must have done to convince the visiting parents of following the civid19 protocols, you could clearly see that it was not practicable protecting the kids from themselves(no time to go into all the details of what I saw with regards the kids and their supposed protective gears).

My point Is this, for some reason, the last wave of this virus was not so deadly as we originally feared, but this time around with the virus mutating and becoming more resistant, it looks like we are dealing with something far deadlier. Yes I've heard many say people are going to the markets, churches, mosques and all. But the school environment is a different one. Those who have refused to go to the churches and mosques, who wear their face masks and exercise maximum caution whenever they have to visit the markets(and ofcourse there are many such people), will unfortunately be very vulnerable with thier kids forced to return back to school irrespective of whatever measures the school say they are putting in place. Children will always be children; no one can reallly prevent them from doing what they do when they come together. As far as I know, face Shield is no barrier to an airborne virus, it can only prevent saliva from reaching the eyes not a floating virus and they cannot were face masks for the length of time they're expected to be in class.

I however think those in tertiary education can go back to school especially those who live in campus. For those who go from home, given that most of them are young adults who understand what protecting oneself is all about, they'll do better at managing the spread of the virus, better still they can go virtual as is been done in other parts of the world now. Most tertiary students will need very little if any help from parent in taking thier studies online.

It seems to me that the directive to resume school on the 18th is the government caving in to pressure from the public, and that is understandable, but given what we've seen with this virus in the last 2 months, I'm afraid we might be playing with fire by letting the kids come together from monday next week. I hope I'm wrong though, but surely, the fastest way to spread this virus and any airborne disease is through basic schools.

For those who may want to attack me, please note that I'm not ignorant of the challenges that many of you particularly parents are having to deal with with the children at home. And for the teachers and those in school employment, I understand how continuing school closure will affect your means of livelihood. The fact is, either way, it's a tragic situation and I wish everyone the very best while we hope the virus abates again like it did last year until the vaccine begins to arrive.

Good luck everyone.
I initially wanted to lash you but I decided not to do so anymore since you explained yourself in details. However, you should know this is our reality. Every sector has moved on, why should the education sector suffer? If you know what this pandemic has caused people... You'd think again. Apparently, given the local health reports from everyone as individuals, most people have had their visits of the virus. It's almost inevitable. It just doesn't make sense to stop education because of this virus. Think am well.

Phones / Transsions, We Await A Monster! by IamDavid(m): 2:27pm On Jan 11, 2021
Whether people like it or not, transsions control the mobile phone market in Nigeria. I currently use the Infinix note 8i, and from my experience, I believe the company already has the capacity to produce a powerful mid-range device, and that's what most Nigerians truly need. I'm sure some marketers will see this post, and I'll like them to channel this suggestion to the appropriate quarters.

1. Give us a fhd AMOLED screen. The 720p lcd screen on most transsions has been the most discouraging factor when considering these phones. While most of us might not need QHD screens, FHD screens should be the norm. We've seen such in zero 5 and some other releases from the company.

2. Make 6,000 mAh the standard. Power supply in Nigeria is so epileptic and this has been a strong point of the Tecno pova. Make it the standard. We won't mind carrying a little weight around.

3. Helio G80 and above with 4 - 6gb ram will do the job.

4. The camon cameras will satisfy many.

5. Price - 100k standard price... I believe if such mobile phone is produced, it will sell in Numbers!

Phones / Re: Help! Infinix Hot 9 Vs Techno Spark 5 Pro. Which Should I Buy? by IamDavid(m): 12:12pm On Jan 07, 2021
Sorry to derail, but I'll advise you to buy hot 10 or note 8i. Tecno pova or spark 6, camon 16, etc. Reason: better processors. All other things are the same. In general, avoid any processor lesser than Helio g70.

It's a very good phone. I have been using it for a couple of months now, the 4gb/64gb version. It's fast and handles tasks very well. The only negative 4 me is the bloatware, those unnecessary infinix apps. U can go for it.
NB: I actually want to sell mine. It's barely 3 months old. Receipt n carton available. It's 60k only.
Cool. How is the front camera? I'm seeing so many negative reviews about it

Wow... so I can't make my point without being called a marketer!

I've been on this forum since 2013, you just joined two months ago, only to start spitting the word "marketer" up and down.
It's really unhealthy when you guys spam a public forum with comments filled with bitterness and hatred. It's really unnecessary. There's more to life than being an e-warrior. Grow up!

I guess it's a slight software ish. Try these things, however if the issue persists, go to Carlcare.
1. Run the battery down to zero, charge when it's off, see if it gets to 100.
2. Check the software updates and make sure your phone is up to date. Good luck!

*I became soft on Transsions since they started using the helio g series processors on their smart phones. Where and how much did you get your 8i? I think it's a solid phone.

I'm planning to get a phone for my mum soon but I'm on a very tight budget. (60k). As much as I don't like transsions, it's my mum's familiar brand and more so they have affordable options.

I had an offer to buy spark 5 pro 4gb 128gb for 62k but I was discouraged by the processor(helio a25 or so), especially when I saw that spark 6 will come with helio g70.

Does anyone know if and when the phone will be available in the Nigerian market? Or I should just go with the 5 pro?

Romance / Re: 7 Reasons Ladies Prefer Bad Boys by IamDavid(m): 7:16pm On Dec 06, 2020
The female gender is so unpredictable! I was (I'm still, kinda) a good boy about six years ago, and this fair beautiful "bahd" girl made sure she had me. So many guys in the compound always wonder what was so attractive about me. Even me didn't know. Guess she just got interested in the innocence and wanted to break it.

I think we need to preach against this "be a bad boy ideology". It's not a guarantee to fruitful relationship. My perfect example of a bad boy got dumped by the babe he loves the most. The only advantage is that you wouldn't put your heart in the first place.

Don't read too much about ladies, just have money and be successful, you have a better chance that way.
