There's no explanation but excuses by Producers who are forcing upward mobility in price despite other factors of production not changing much. The only new cost is higher intrest rate nothing new. |
ValarDoharis:Whatever makes you sleep at night bro. |
Age is just a number. Na God and Faith go determine everything. |

predictor1:She was actually telling speculators to hoard dollars that they don't need for any transactions to force Naira to crash against Major currencies. I have never seen opposition actively encouraging economic saboteurs in my life. |
I don't understand the need for people to attack the stability of Naira based on limited knowledge of the operations of the central bank? Even if CBN is defending Naira with our reserve, why should we encourage speculators to drag our currency to a terrible rate by stroking fear? Don't they understand that the poor who don't have the money to "trade dollars for Naira and vice versa" will suffer the most? And that is apparently 70% of Nigerians according to World bank data I was surprised that a so called human rights Activist like Aisha Yesufu will let humanitarian needs fly over her head to start acting like a bitter soul. |
Congratulations You look more chubby than I pictured you to be. Wish you all best in life. |
The Lady is a power drunk lunatic That's not how you declare independence. You have all these money but can't help poor communities within the South West to dig borehole water, you can't help the poor with education scholarships. However, you simply bought guns and Cutlass for some hoodlums and gave them instructions to match to the government secretariat which happens to be the most heavily secured place in the state to go and meet their doom. She is not different from politicians that give guns to tugs during election to seize power. How do you declare the freedom of millions without seeking their consent or gaining their trust. Are you not just a rebranded dictator? |
I said the fall in foreign reserve is as result of settling the obligations of CBN inherited from Emefile. The $7bn debt. |
LagosFirstSon:Why will I call someone Igbo for creating Anti Tinubu tread. Did every single Yoruba person vote for Tinubu in the last general election? Tinubu lost Lagos and Osun state in the last election. Even all igbos don't necessarily love Obi and I know most of you call them "Agbado" a word you use interchangeably for Yorubas. ![]() |
LagosFirstSon:So asking a ridiculous question about Oyo state as a Lagos indigenous person as you claim is "speaking against Tinubu " Even the Obasanjo you referenced has his farms in Oyo state. ![]() Gat you. I now know for a fact you are not a Yoruba man. |
proeast:The Lagos Ibadan road has less Fulani attacks than Beinin ore road or most Express road in northern part of Nigeria. In terms of accident, it doesn't have more accident on average than most Express roads in Nigeria. The Lagos Ibadan express road is one of the busiest route in Nigeria since time memorial. |
The Journey from Lagos to Ibadan (Oyo state) is the most frequently journeyed in Nigeria. I can categorically say a person claiming to be a Lagos indigenous person can never fear to enter Oyo. |
The problem with taking care of her siblings with the money she makes from her prostitution job is that the siblings may not appreciate her when they eventually make it. She needs to find a way out and try to build her life from scratch. |
AqualinaXYZ:How is Tinubu paying subsidy on Naira? Most of you will just be saying something you don't know. Emefile paid subsidy on Naira by keeping one artificial rate and one real rate called the parallel market rate. |
treatise:Did I ever say that Benin are Yoruba immigrants? Isn't fascinating that a person is having a indigenous name that can't be interpreted in his own language? |
treatise:Are we talking of names things or people's family name? And yes Hausa has relationship with Arab through Quran like every Muslim in the world ![]() You go school so ![]() |
treatise:You are talking about Arabic names used by Muslims world over. No, they are not Hausa names |
jude33084:This is not true There's no way to interpret Kehinde, Apata or Olufemi in Benin language. The Ishekiri on the other hand can interpret it because they speak Yoruba. |
treatise:None of this parents are Yoruba Apata, Yoruba word for rock is the surname. Apata is not an Edo word. |
Validated:Cross River nko ![]() |
Na Yoruba names full Here. That is right, I am looking for trouble. ![]() |
successmatters:Why will he do that? The people who wants to sabotage his own government? |
rantingpigs:Lol Jonathan and Tinubu are not the same type of politicians, the circumstances were also different. Jonathan was seen as using Yaraduas turn to be president and gang up against him to remove him. Jonathan is not even a proper politician but he almost overcame them Tinubu on the other hand is proper politician who won the First time against all odds. He is not seen as using northern slot in office. It's also too far from election period for Tinubu to sabotage his own government with insecurity. |
North will throw Tinubu under the bus when he is the president? You know what it means to be Nigerian president? It's not even election season yet. Please try to think for once. |
ngwaIgbo223:Most of you on Nairaland comment like teenagers. |
DMerciful:Exchange rate was around 700 to 800 before Emefile's departure without the subsidy. That is exactly where it's heading again. Nigeria oil production has fallen from the close to 3 million barrels in year 2015 to 1.5 to 1.7 and price of crude oil is not at 100 dollars per barrel as it was in 2015. So I don't know how you want CBN governor to return the rate to 250 to a dollar. The Nigerian budget has also grown without substantial growth in TaX income and GDP. |
DMerciful:I really doubt you know anything about economics Cardsoso sells at 1150 but the real market settles around 1050 naira. That is what is called market forces determination of price( it shows demand is lower than supply) The moment Cardsoso sells at 750 but the reaction in the market is to sell at 753 Naira to Nigerians, That will simply mean supply and demand of dollars in the Nigerian economy is at almost or at equilibrium. This is a complete departure from Emefile' policy who fixed the rate at 450 while the real market kept tumbling upon to it got to 750 naira. The 300 naira that is in the middle is the subsidy CBN was paying on the Naira, So he was borrowing to cover the 300 Naira that only few Nigerians benefited from. |
DMerciful:Cardsoso is not doing exactly the same. Hence, your currency was allowed to fall to 2000 naira before CBN will start intervention in the market. The CBN now wants metrics like Market forces i.e (equilibrium of supply and demand), the rate at which CBN can also defend without borrowing to determine the new dollar/Naira rate. It's no longer artificially set at a given price where they have to defend it recklessly. |
DMerciful:Extract from report sir The central bank also reported borrowing $7.5 billion from U.S. banks JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs by pledging securities, and entered into 30-day forward contracts totalling 3.15 trillion naira in 2022 |
DMerciful:https://www.reuters.com/article/idUSL8N39S4VT/ I hope you know how to read and understand business terminologies.? |
