The Ijodo tractor that is designed and built 100% in Nigeria by a young team of Engineers led by Terfa Addingi from Benue state has been unveiled by the Executive governor of Benue state, Dr. Samuel Ortom.

The governor was represented by Hon. Baba Acka, the speaker Nigeria House of Representatives Hon. Yakubu Dogara has also shown his support for the project as he tweeted:

RIP to the dead

At least seven people were tragically killed and 12 others injured yesterday after a 40-foot container fell off a truck in the Alakija area of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

According to PUNCH, the accident happened yesterday morning when the truck carrying the container moved from its lane to another lane and rammed into a commercial bus after its brakes failed. The container on the truck reportedly fell in the process, killing seven people and injuring 12 others.

Reports say that some commercial motorcycle riders at the bus stop were also trapped under the fallen container. Policemen from the FESTAC Police Division, officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority and the Lagos State Fire Service were said to have all reported to the scene to look into the matter. However, this accident is said to have caused confusion in the area for several hours

A witness identified as Biodun Solaja commented on the accident, stating that the road in that area was in bad condition coupled with the fact that motorcycle riders and bus drivers were always blocking that part of the road in search of passengers while a policeman blamed the accident on the slow pace of construction work at the bus stop.

Furthermore, an emergency official revealed that the casualties would have been more if not for the interruption of power supply in the area. The electricity company were alerted to cut supply to the area to prevent electrocution, as some poles were affected in the accident.

The General Manager, LASEMA, Mr. Michael Akindele advised that truck drivers should always conduct proper checks on their vehicles and drive within the approved speed limit. In addition, he urged motorcyclists to comply with the traffic laws of the state to forestall a recurrence of such.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed five deaths, saying the identities of the deceased are still unknown.

Last week a young man was killed by some suspected cultists at the popular Tito Gate along Kashim Ibrahim road Makurdi Benue State.

Investigations further revealed that the attack was carried out by the Black Skull Cult group, on Sunday 3rd July, the Red Skin Cult group came back for a retaliatory attack saying Black Skull guys opposite Tito gate masterminded the killing of one of their own (Red Skin).

Lasgidi Online gathered that one was killed in the attack living several others injured, The Nigeria Police Benue State command should do more as we now live in fear hence innocent lives can be caught in between.

History has been created in Nigeria as the Head Coach of Nigeria’s Dream Team VI to the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil Samson Siasia has unveiled Gandoki as the official comedian of the team.

He made the announcement in Abuja saying, ‘I want to introduce to the world Gandoki, the comedian who will be working with us when we get to Brazil as the official comedian of the team‘.

The Brazil 2016 Olympic games will kick off on August 5 and wrap up on August 21, 2016.

Its football and comedy together, lol.

Majek Fashek is accusing R&B star, Timi Dakolo of stealing his song.

In a recent interview with Saturday Beats , the Reggae icon revealed that Timi Dakolo never took permission from him before he recorded a remix of his hit song, Send Down the Rain in 2013, adding that the Iyawo Mi crooner had exploited the fact that he was mentally unstable.


“He broke the rules of copyright. He is a thief because in music business, one must take permission before working on someone else’s song. That is why we have COSON,” he said.

He also slammed Dakolo, calling him a fake artiste for infringing on the laws of copyright.


“Dakolo never bothered to look for me before stealing my song. He is not an original artiste. It is only people like Tuface, Wizkid, Olamide that are original.”

In addition, Fashek admitted that he was hurt that he wasn’t even given credit for the song and further explained why.


“The song is not a normal song; it is a spiritual hit song. Timi Dakolo does not know how I suffered to get that song. I fasted for seven days before I got that song. I partook in three days ‘white’ fasting before the song came to me. Timi Dakolo did not go through that. I did not fight him because I do not have time. Let God judge us.”

Majek Fashek, has been stable since March after receiving treatment at an Abuja based rehab centre. He and his business consultant, Omenka Uzoma are now trying to fish out all those who took advantage of him.

Although Timi Dakolo initially declined to respond when contacted to get his own side of the story, the singer eventually took to Instagram to address the issue.

Nigeria songstress Yemi Alade who spent a whooping N2.5 million on Zuhair Murad dress she wore to the BET Awards event revealed that she doesn’t have a single gold jewelry because she finds them incredibly boring.

The Johnny crooner said this today with Punch.

“I don’t have any. My mum has quite a number of them but I don’t have,” the award-winning singer says, adding, “I know gold is expensive and some people see it as investment. But to me, it is just jewellery.”

When it comes to hairstyle, this is what I know. I don’t know how to take care of weaves and hair extensions. If a stylist isn’t there, my hair would turn out horrible, I would look like somebody who just got hit by a car. I may have everything I need to make the hair look good but once I am the one doing it, it can never work. I decided to go natural and since then, I am fine. I sleep and wake up and just do a bit of touch up and I am fine. It suits me and I love it.

On her fashion fetish:

I love shoes. I have stopped counting the number of shoes I have. But shoes are never enough for every woman. But my fashion fetish is sunglasses.

The National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Makurdi has on Thursday 30th June struck out the petition filed by the APC candidate in the last Benue South rerun election, Comrade Dan Onjeh challenging the election of Senator David Mark of PDP.

The Tribunal said the petition was filed out of time and as such, it's not only status and time barred; it's also dead in substance!

Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar has once again made her stance known on the issue of marriage, saying it’s overrated and emphasizing that she has no immediate plans to get married.

She barred her mind in a recent interview with Encomium, she said,

‘Marriage has been overrated. It’s unnecessarily over rated. It’s just too much of headache with how things are now. Even ordinary relationship is a huge burden, huge headache and heartbreaking, let alone marriage. When you can’t stand each other as boyfriend and girlfriend, how would you live together under the same roof when you get married?

She continues to say, ‘People need to know themselves seriously. When I say seriously, I mean spiritually before getting married. People only know themselves physically, not spiritually, so they end up getting bored with each other. And they will say they don’t want to get divorce because of what society would say after investing so much on the marriage.

‘They stay in that marriage and later it may become very irritating and they start fighting. Before they know it, everything becomes violent. You hear people say all sorts of things. You’re the one who allowed people to get to you and start telling you you’re getting old. You’re the one allowing them to convince you that you’re getting old, you need to get married. Everyone will surely get old. Who won’t get old? So, when people say I am getting old, get married, I would tell them that’s the only thing they know. People carry marriage like a flag’.

Asked if it means she’s not going to get married, she said;

‘No, people should only try to be nice about marriage to make me interested in it. Don’t tell me actresses don’t stay in marriage. Olu Jacobs and Joke Silva have been married for long and they’re still in the marriage. Nothing happened to their union. Omotola and her husband have been married for long; they’re still very much together. She got married at a young age which is good. What I am trying to say is that going into marriage needs a lot; you don’t just go into it. My elder sister got married at 26 and she’s doing fine in the marriage with her husband. Now, tell me why won’t I want a family like that? But these days, people are just too much into social media, that’s why marriages are crashing. Marriage these days is not based on happiness and genuine love. Let me ask, who is that poor person that has married a billionaire son? So, why won’t marriage crash when it’s not based on happiness and genuine love?

Veteran comedian Atunyota Alleluya Akporobomerere popularly known by his stage name Alibaba is a year older today.

Th king of Nigerian comedy as he is fondly called was born on 24th June 1965.

Below is a brief profile of Alibaba....

Ali Baba was born in Warri, Delta State, on June 24, 1965 to the Royal Family of Agbarha Otor, Ughelli North Local Government Area. The first son after several girls. He spent the first 8 years of his life in Warri (Delta State, Nigeria).

His father is a retired soldier who served in Lagos. Schooling therefore was at Ojo Primary School and Command Secondary School both in Lagos.

He furthered his education at Ibru College in Agbarha-Otor and then went on to the now rested Bendel State University now known as the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma where he read Religious Studies & Philosophy.

After acquiring a degree from the then Bendel State University, Ekpoma in 1990, he relocated to Lagos, having discovered his comic talent and funny bone in his 3rd Year in University. He had planned to return to Ekpoma to read Law but that was not to be, since he discovered he could make more money from making people laugh than defending them!

He began his professional career with corporate events, appearing on television shows with the likes of Patrick Doyle, Charly Boy and Danladi Bako. He also made cameo appearances on radio shows with Bisi Olatilo, Sani Irabor and Mani Onumonmu. He also worked briefly with Dapo Adelegan of DP Lekki Limited as executive assistant in 1991.

He had made up his mind that he was going to do everything to enhance himself, improve his skill and the service he offered in other words be professional. However at the time there was hardly any precedent to follow because the funny men then were not into Stand-up comedy. Patrick Doyle, John Chukwu, Bisi Olatilo, Femi Segun, Femi Jarret, Leo Onwudi, Smart Otemu, Tony St. Iyke and many more were funny, very funny but did not do full-time comedy.

Through guts, sacrifice and creative dynamism, Ali Baba carved a niche for himself as a comedian for both corporate and non-corporate events. In less than 4 years, he had also become the preferred Master of Ceremony at some events. Ali Baba made the rules, broke them and sometimes even discarded them depending on how effective they were. These days no event is considered complete without a Comedian to MC that event.

In 1998, he hired billboards in strategic parts of Lagos Ozumba Mbadiwe Street, Victoria Island; Osborne Road, Ikoyi and the Marina paying for two years. The message was simple and one he has come to be known by Being Funny is Serious Business.

Ali Baba, has lived with the philosophy that his business is big enough for all who want to make their chosen profession. As such, he has supported, mentored and presented several comedians helping to ensure that standards are maintained and professionalism encouraged. It is no longer strange to hear a comedian charge impressive fees for events. The industry, yes, the Comedy Industry though yet to be standardized, is growing fast and strong to the credit of the God Father of Comedy.

He has been a professional stand up comedian for the past 22 years and has in the last 13 years received several awards.

He was inducted into the Johnny Walker 'Striding Man' Society in 2009 which recognizes men who have achieved great strides in their chosen fields of endeavour and who share the strides they have taken to motivate and encourage others.

In 2012, he was given the privilege of ringing the Year End Closing Bell of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, the first Nigerian Comedian to do so.

He is also a Special Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps.

In March 2015, Alibaba was featured on CNN African voices, speaking about his goal to make Nigerian Comedy is trade worthy of mention in proper business realm.

Alibaba is married to Mary and is blessed with three Daughters, Xsara, Brandi and Valerie and a set of twin boys Ejiro and Teriji.

So, as a tribute to the great bloggers who faced these challenges and to those who is thinking to start a blog, today I will be discussing the 5 most common blogging problems.
1. Topic For Next Post
Why is this a problem?
Well believe me, most bloggers does not start blogging because of passion. It’s because they find as the easiest way to generate income.
And if one start blogging with the aim of money-making, they usually end up choosing the most- profitable niche for blogging, on which they might not have any
interest.
So eventually, they find it hard to find topic for their blog post. I find a lot of such bloggers who doesn’t have any interest in the topic they blog about and the phrase NEXT BLOG POST is usually a nightmare for them .
2. Time To Concentrate On Blogging
Whether you blog for money or for passion, time doesn’t compromises for anyone. And you find it relatively hard to concentrate on your blog unless you have completely isolated yourself for blogging.
Time is a major problem especially for students, employees etc who have tiring works all day. And after all these chaos, they blog within the remaining time. So people who blog partially find Time a major problem unless on weekends or holidays !
3. Income
As I said above, if you are blogging for money, then this problem should appear first. Every pro-bloggers says that you should only start to think about income at least after 6 months of blogging.
But what we see is that as soon as their blog’s age reaches 1-2 months, many bloggers start to apply for AdSense and other platforms. And most often, they gets rejected by Adsense and quit blogging. If your main reason for blogging is money and you have no patience for earning them, then you’re not going to earn from blog at all ! And for others, who is not able to make a good amount from blogging. Just concentrate on your articles and readers, because they are the one that generates income for you.
4. Competition
This is often faced by bloggers who race to increase their blog’s rankings. With the so-called blogosphere getting more and more populated every day, you need to work really hard to reach the extremes of blogging! Blogging needs passion, and moreover you need ideas. Ideas that can help you write,write and write more to gain readers and popularity. The best way to get popular is to choose your favorite niche [Of which you have idea] and start writing.
5. Response
Duh ! Here comes the main problem. By saying response, what I mean is 3 things
* Traffic
* Subscribers
* Comments
Traffic is something that keeps your blog alive. If you are very much concerned about traffic, then it is recommended that you spend some months in researching for trends in blogging before you start your own blog.
Also do keep in mind to update your blog with regular happenings in your niche. This way readers will feel your content fresher and useful and you’ll start having a flow of traffic.
Subscribers is something that reflects whether your blog’s becoming successful or no. The more a reader feels your content useful, the more is the chance that he/she would subscribe and refer your blog in the future too!
Comments can be referred as the direct and immediate response for your articles by readers.
Many say that WordPress blogs get more comments because of their CommentLuv feature.
But I believe that content is the factor that makes a reader to comment.

In a dramatic twist, blogger Linda Ikeji is facing a tax evasion suit.

According to The Capita,l the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has slammed her with a staggering N75 million tax bill.

It is revealed by the media outlet that the blogger has now been mandated by the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) to pay the money into the agency’s coffers.

Linda Ikeji was also reported to have out-rightly denied ownership of her luxurious Banana Island mansion when quizzed by the FIRS authorities.

The famous blogger purchased the choice property in October 2015 and revealed back then that it was worth well over N500m.

The revenue agency has purportedly initiated measures to prosecute her in a court of law if she refuses to pay the N75m.

9. He showcased his sagacity in management and entrepreneurial spirit when he set up the magnificent I.O Farms Training Institute – a model farm settlement at Ugbor-Amagba communities, Benin City, Edo State. The institute has churned out hundreds of young agriculturist.

10. He was recently honoured by the Benson Idahosa University, Edo state, with an honourary doctorate degree in Public Administration.
