https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ZMYHp1avcuY/Vs6yxzozSwI/AAAAAAAAUJ4/-dMBCZCPjs4/s1600/PicsArt_1456386450625.jpg There were some widespread speculations that Globacom has fired P Sqaure as their brand ambassador as the Telecom company refused to renew their deal but reports from TheNet says the duo are still doing business with Globacom. TheNet three sources insist Psqaures contract with the telecom giant still remains intact. The first source said: ‘The story is false for now’, one source from the Okoye’s camp told our correspondent. A Glo source however confirmed that ‘they are still signed as ambassadors for now, but there’s likelihood they may be dropped. Nothing has been concluded yet’. Although it appears the Okoye fracas is the final straw, we’re told the Psquare-Globacom relationship has been troubled for sometime. One source tells us it is unlikely Glo will sponsor another editor of Peter’s Dance show. ‘Peter insulted Glo officials at the grand finale of his competition and they all walked out of the venue before the event started. Most people don’t know, but Psquare were supposed to performed at the GLO CAF awards but they were dropped from the show’. Psquare are not known to be unprofessional in their business dealings. But it is not the first time Glo, a top three GSM provider in Nigeria will part ways controversially with brand ambassadors. D’Banj, who was dropped and later recalled following the chairman’s intervention, and Kunle Afolayan remain fresh in our minds. Psquare’s publicist, Bayo Adetu expressed shock when THENETNG contacted him to find out if his principals had been dropped by Glo: ‘wow, am just hearing the news from you o!’ ‘For now, there’s nothing to say because I’m not even aware’. http://www.lasgidionline.com.ng/2016/02/psquare-still-with-glbacom-yet-to-lose.html lalasticlala |

President Muhammadu Buhari vowed late Tuesday in Riyadh that all those involved in the “padding” of the 2016 National Budget will face the most severe punishment. Addressing the Nigerian Community in Saudi Arabia, President Buhari condemned the distortion of the budget proposals by entrenched interests. The President said that the unauthorised alterations had completely changed the document from the one he presented to the National Assembly. “The culprits will not go unpunished. I have been a military governor, petroleum minister, military Head of State and headed the Petroleum Trust Fund. “Never had I heard the words “budget padding”. Our Minister of Budget and National Planning did a great job with his team. The Minister became almost half his size during the time, working night and day to get the budget ready, only for some people to pad it. “What he gave us was not what was finally being debated. It is very embarrassing and disappointing. We will not allow those who did it to go unpunished," President Buhari vowed. The President also assured members of the Nigerian community that his administration was working diligently to fulfil its campaign promises, particularly on security, unemployment, and corruption. Reaffirming his government’s zero tolerance for corruption, President Buhari said that the war against corruption was a monumental task that he is determined to tackle successfully. "We have zero tolerance for corruption and other unethical practices. We will deal decisively with anybody found wanting," he promised members of the Nigerian community. President Buhari also used the opportunity of the gathering to brief Nigerians in Saudi Arabia on his administration’s efforts to end the Boko Haram insurgency and terrorism in Nigeria. "Our armed forces have done a great job of dealing decisively with Boko Haram. We are collaborating with our neighbors in the operations of the Multinational Joint Task Force to handle security threats in the sub-region and we have significantly destroyed the capacity of the insurgents," the President said. He also spoke on efforts being made to diversify the Nigerian economy, stressing that more opportunities are now open for local and foreign investors in the country. By Akpene Jacob I read Freeze of Cool Fm Lagos latest piece which he said When Someone Hangs Out With The Poor, He Will Turn Out Poor with anger because I don't know what he feels like before writing this, maybe he was high or something. How can a man in his right senses wake up and just decide to come on social media and post this kind of rubbish, all I see on your social media pages is flaunting of your wealth as if you are the richest man in Nigeria. You claim to be rich yet you are still working under someone, why don't you have your own radio station? You said the poor should start hanging out with the rich to become rich right? If Alhaji Aliko Dangote was hanging out with the rich people without working hard, will he be rich today? How do you expect someone who can't afford a two square meal a day to leave his hustle and go to the Island to hang out with the rich people there? These are questions I expect you to answer. It's people like you that always insults the poor anytime they come's closer to you, you are just displaying your stupidity online. People that are rich don't even flaunt it. Media mogul Ben Bruce who admire a lot is rich yet he doesn't flaunt it as you do, riches is not all about showing off and insulting the poor but it's all about changing the present community you find yourself in. So Mr Freeze, take a chill and calm down. Just my two cents. Before I forget how are your kids? Mr Freeze, am just been myself don't be offended o. Naira Devaluation & Falling Oil Prices: A Marshall Plan For Nigeria By Tony Ogunlowo At the end of the Second World War, with much of Europe in ruins and struggling to cope with the aftermath of six years of conflict, under the Marshall Plan of 1948 America gave $13 billion dollars to Western European countries to help rebuild their countries. It wasn’t just a major financial package designed to help re-build major infrastructure, factories etc. destroyed during the war but also to make Europe prosperous again, dropping trade barriers using new business procedures, preventing the spread of communism and bringing in new improved working conditions. Nigeria is in the same predicament right now. Economically in ruins, not by wars or conflict but of years and years of mismanagement which has seen politicians squandering billions and billions of dollars of public funds intended for capital projects. The current planned National Integrated Infrastructure Master Plan (NIIMP) which was approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) in 2014 aims to raise the country’s stock of infrastructure to at least 70% of GDP by 2043. All good in theory but where’s the money going to come from considering the implementation of phase one alone will cost at least 165 US billion dollars. With the current falling oil prices the current government is in trouble; budget obligations may not be fulfilled, austerity measures will have to be introduced, inflation will rise and growth will fall seriously jeopardizing any future large scale projects. Right now emphasis should not be on short term borrowing to plug the holes in the budget deficit. This will only be a temporary solution to an ongoing problem. Money is needed, not only to make up the shortfall but also for the overhaul of major capital infrastructure such as oil refineries, power stations and Federal roads which are currently crumbling to pieces or falling into neglect due to lack of maintenance and upgrading. Bringing in cost-cutting measures in an attempt to diversify much needed funds will not work. There are too many needy sectors. The Structural Adjustment Programme, SAP, devised by the Babangida administration is a clear indication that such programmes will not work on a long time basis. Nobody will give us a ‘Marshall-Plan-style’ grant because its believed we’re rich enough and don’t need handouts. What is needed is a very big loan from a foreign financial institution or country. It will have to be very long term, say 25 to 50 years, at a fixed rate. It will be solely for the capital projects that will benefit the country on the long run. Such a loan, even though foreign lenders might demand it, might prevent the official devaluation of the Naira. With the value of the currency intact, capital flight (-pulling money out of the country) will be greatly minimized and will also encourage foreign investors to invest. The advent of the Buhari administration has seen a renewed confidence, by foreign concerns, in Nigeria’s ability to pick itself up from problems created by previous administrations. The recent rise in offered help to fight growing problems such as Boko Haram and corruption is a clear indication of this. Whilst foreign lenders are not actually queuing up to lend us money due to our past record of mismanagement and kleptomania, countries like Britain and America, would not hesitate to put a bailout package together if properly sought. Again reassurances will have to be made that the money lent will go directly to the intended projects and not end up in some kleptomaniac politician’s offshore account. We are all aware of the Obama arms embargo placed on Nigeria previously, under the Leahy Act, due to our dismal human rights record and pilfering. So if they do decide to bail us out they will be watching us like hawks ready to pull the plug if we default. Oil is plentiful in the world now with more and more countries producing crude oil. Prices will continue to drop as the market stagnates and Nigeria needs to diversify into areas such as agriculture to provide a secondary income to oil. Currently agriculture only accounts for 20.24% of the GDP as of 2014. IT is another area where Nigeria can earn substantial income. India earns a fortune for being the IT outsourcing country in the world providing crucial IT back-up for firms in America and Europe. If the antics of the ‘Yahoo, Yahoo boys’ are anything to go by we have the raw talent but lack the infrastructure. Thousands of Nigerian students graduate each year in one IT field or another with no outlet or employment for their skills leaving them to turn to mischief e.g 419, scamming etc. A major investment in telecommunications and power stations is needed. Secondary sources of income generation need to be sought to supplement the income from oil and the necessary infrastructure put in place. All this costs money, not the kind of money currently being earned from oil sales, but a huge capital injection of funds that can only come from a Marshall-Plan-style foreign bailout. http://www.lasgidionline.com.ng/2016/02/naira-devaluation-falling-oil-prices.html lalasticlala |

Today on my blog, I will be sharing with you top 7 safety tips on how you can use your Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card for online and offline transactions. Follow me as I lead you. 1. Keep your PIN Secret: DO NOT write your Personal Identification Number (PIN) on paper or give it out to anyone, including friends and family, and do not reveal it to anyone over the phone. Avoid using numbers that are easily identified (birth date, phone number, etc.) with your personal identity. Report lost or stolen cards immediately to your bank. 2. Review your card account frequently: If you notice any irregularities e.g. charges on items you didn’t order, cash withdrawals you didn’t make, etc. Put a call to your bank immediately to report this. 3. Always check your email for transaction updates: The email notification service is free and compulsory for the safety of your account. To enroll for this service visit your bank branch near you. 4. Hotlist immediately: If your card is retracted at an ATM, be sure to hotlist your card while you are still at the ATM. To hotlist your card, kindly send ‘HOTLIST<NUBAN>’ to 08076665555 for Gtbank. 5. Keep your eye on your card: Ensure your card is in your clear view whenever an attendant at a shop wants to swipe your card. DO NOT allow the attendant take your card into an inner room or enter your PIN on your behalf. 6. Free Trials are not ‘free’. If you initiate a trial subscription with a merchant, make sure you go back to the website to cancel your account before your free trial expires. Otherwise, you will be charged by them in subsequent months. 7. Carefully Read the Terms and Conditions when making reservations as some reservations are non-refundable. Make sure you cancel your reservation on or before the due date to prevent no-show charges if you do not show up. If you follow this tips very well, you won't have issues using your ATM card and the complains to the banks will stop. I remember how some people do say, I will never use the ATM because banks do deduct one's money through it. In my subsequent post, I will write the customer care lines of all the banks in Nigeria so that you can call your bank once you have an issue. I hope you learned from my post, please share it with your friends, family and colleagues at work. And remember to subscribe to my blog to receive my updates straight in your inbox once I post. http://www.jacobakpene.com/2016/02/top-7-atm-card-safety-tips-you-should.html
