NairaOcean: The Delta State Police Command has apprehended a 20-year-old man identified as Raphael Egbo for the alleged murder of his 19-year-old girlfriend, Jessica Uzowanne. The incident occurred in Ozoro, the headquarters of the Isoko North Local Government Area of the state.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, revealed this shocking development to reporters in Asaba on Thursday, April 11, 2024. Thissystem: A public interest and human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, has revealed the challenging situation cross-dresser Idris Okuneye aka Bobrisky, may face while serving his time at Ikoyi Prison.
Bobrisky was sentenced to six months in prison without an option of fine over naira abuse charges on Friday.
Reacting to the judgement in a tweet on Friday, the lawyer said: “Bobrisky will have a difficulty experience in the Custodial Centre (prison) because he is not a freedom fighter and does not seem to me like someone that can stay in a restricted environment under harsh and excruciating conditions.”
He continued: “The main key to surviving imprisonment is mental strength and courage. The prison wall only breaks those who are not driven by strong convictions.
“For a freedom fighter, it is a training ground. No true activist goes to prison and comes out weaker. They always come out stronger and bolder. History shows this clearly. Any activist that is broken by imprisonment is a pretender.
“If you are all about the ‘soft life’, and you are the fragile type and incapable of enduring physical discomfiture, you should avoid imprisonment.
“Some of us came out stronger after our imprisonment because we have always been mentally prepared for it and due to our strong ideological disposition.
“Bobrisky will be confronted by a culture shock when he enters Ikoyi Prison and realizes that it is a different world from what he knows. After a few days, he will begin to adjust to his new world.
“Money can only ameliorate the hardship there, but it will not shield him from the daily problems and inconveniences of the prison environment.
“This is when he will know who his true friends are. When I was jailed for one month, reality dawn on me that some people who I thought were sympathetic to my cause, actually celebrated my detention. How my enemies felt about it was irrelevant.
“Unluckily for my unfriendly friends and foes, my spirit was free and liberated. My physical restriction didn’t break me at all. I actually added weight in prison and enjoyed long hours of sleep which I never had before and after my one month imprisonment.
“Most Nigerians have a wrong perception of the prison system. The idea that the prison is where only criminals are kept is baseless. If I didn’t experience it, I would not have known how deeply flawed and broken our criminal justice system is.
“Many people in prison are innocent or just victims of circumstances. But there are also hardened criminals there. Sadly, the current system does little or nothing to reform inmates,” he added.

Spring2025: People of God I just need your help on this issue. I can't bear it anymore. I'm a 35-year-old man with a bachelor's degree and plan to pursue my Masters degree in the US. I'm married with a kid and my wife is 25 and our son is 1. This year makes it two years after getting married to my wife. I started with my wife peacefully until the day I expressed my interest in pursuing graduate program in the US, my wife accepted the idea readily and I was happy. However, just a day after I made my plans known to her she started disturbing me to apply to the US and jet out. It wasn't time because I plan to apply for Spring but she's all over me all the time. Next, was her attitude of not cooking again. She complain of stress even when I employed two sales assistant to help her in the Super Market where I opened a shop for her. So literally, my wife goes to shop and watch over our employees then come back home. I didn't mind. My wife stopped cooking, washing my clothes or even the kid's. I do the cooking and wash out baby's dresses. She yell at me for any mistake or misunderstanding. But what pained me most that made started investigation on her was coming back home very late even hours after she must have closed from shop. My wife answers calls at odd hours and wouldn't want me to hear. I once came back home one Sunday unannounced and she left her phone charging in sitting room, a call came in and the me she saved it with was 'my joygiver' so I let her knew she had a call and pretended as if I saw nothing just to observe her, she declined to pick but went away with the phone. The next day I went to the shop leaving my office early and discovered she wasn't in the shop so I asked the two sales assistants but they said madam always leave early. By this time the feelings in my instincts were becoming evident. I decided to call her right there and pretended I was in the office and she told me she was in the shop. I confronted her then she laughed and said she came to visit a friend. Few weeks ago, I decided to investigate her phone but I was skeptical of her password because she might have changed the one I know but luckily for me, she didn't. Men, to my greatest surprise I saw my wife cooking in another guy's kitchen while she dropped my kid who was crying without giving him attention. They kissed and romanced and did all they could, I was patient enough to bear it. I read her chats and discovered that she was telling the guy that I plan to go to the US so when I leave he will migrate to my house to have her in full. This is where I almost committed suicide. I just need your advice, should I divorce her or let her be until my son is grown? I'm feeling the pain of this woman remaining in my house but on a second thought, my son. I got a job for my now ex fiancee in the organisation where I work. We dated for 2 years. She was posted to a different branch office not far from mine.
A year on the job I began hearing rumours that she's going out with a senior colleague of mine in the same office with me. Those that I heard it from didn't know we were dating.
I confronted her and she denied it. I was not comfortable with her response, and one day she came to spend the weekend with me, I decided to go through her chat, I could not believe what I saw in her chat with this guy in question.
They've gone far to the extent of having sex with themselves which was said in the chat.
The next morning I confronted her with evidences of what I saw in her chat with my colleague, she became furious that I had no right to check her chat, with no sign of remorse. I was broken and at that point ended the relationship.
