Iwobi was in a double pivot with Onyeka. They both had marking and pressing duties on Fofana and Kessie respectively.

Everytime they got the ball, their only triangle was with the fullbacks or defence because there was a man missing in the AM position. Either they play a sideways or backward triangle or a percentage ball into space for the winger which the winger may or may not get.

FYI, Onyeka only completed 10 passes in that match, Iwobi completed 20

Iwobi was not responsible for the shot played by the centre back. Iwobi had his midfield man and that shot was Osimhen shot to press, or an AM if we had one. .

Iwobi performed well in this tournament and in that match. His only misstep was a miscued clearance (bouday) which landed in the box and did not amount to any harm.

Finally all Nigerians complaining about Iwobi know nothing about football. You expect a DM in a double pivot to stray from his pressing instructions, and expect him to act as an AM when he is in a double pivot against 3 CMs for CIV. Football is about triangles and there was never the third angle at the top of the triangle throughout the tournament because we did not have an AM. So those expecting AM work from Iwobi should shut it. The only triangles we had all tournament were with the fullbacks and the defence.

Only a mad man, or a complete neophyte will expect AM work from Iwobi in this set up. Iwobi played his role perfectly throughout the tournament.
