Both of them and Aina. I've always loved Aina

Ibime:
Ola Aina as back up for £10m, very OK. If you watched Super Eagles matches over the last year, you will know Aina is very decent for backup at the least and better than that Dumbfries Tuchel is chasing by far

With the way we are sitting deep and relying on counterattacks, clearly Moses Simon is faster and can drag us up quicker than Chukwueze

Looks like Bassey is playing in a 3 man defence

If that's the case, wingbacks should have been Onyemeachi and Osayi Samuel should have been the wingbacks, not Sanusi and Aina

We just need to strike a balance between this attack and defense thing.

If you score 5 goals in a match and concede 6, will you praise your attack for scoring 5 in a match or will you blame you defense for conceding 6?

Conversely,if you concede just 1 goal but scored zero, will you praise your defense for being tight enough to concede "just" 1 goal or will you blame your attack for not being able to score any?

While our attack need massive improvement to convert chances created, our defense also need to tighten up. Individual errors in defense have cost us a lot this season. So yes, defense is also our problem.

In 2004/05 when Mourinho broke the record of least goals conceded in the league, we scored 72 goals. Arsenal in second scored 87..... The amount of 1-0 matches we played that season was uncountable.

2020/21 when Tuchel won us UCL, we conceded just 4 goals all campaign. 4 goals in 13 matches!

Make una no dey underrate the importance of defense in football.
In this day and age of VAR giving out penalties wotowoto, unlimited injury time to account for time wasting etc, conditions favour attack than defence. Days of 1-0 matches are over. Chances are if you base your team on defence like Chelsea of 2005, you will drop more points on average. Playing in your own box now is an invitation to VAR to award penalties against you and invitation to opposition attackers to look for initiate contact and go down

Yes we can improve on defence, but I bet if our attackers had been finishing their chances early, allowing us to control the game and simultaneously demotivating our opponents, our goals conceded record would be better. Instead what is happening is we fail to score, opponents ginger, score against us some time in 2nd half, then we overextend ourself while chasing equaliser and concede a 2nd goal. All those could have been avoided if our attackers put us in control in the first half by finishing their chances.

You think it will magically stop kidnapping? America that has all the technology records that every 40 seconds, a child goes missing or is abducted in the United States with approximately 810,000 people missing/kidnapped yearly.
Calm down. Missing does not automatically equate to kidnapped

There are 300 million Americans, are you telling me that 1 in 400 Americans are kidnapped each year?

DissTroy:
Another annoying part about these unfortunate incidences is, some of us are caught in the midst of patriotism, self-preservation, and civil responsibility to speak out.

I've got a thousand issues I want to address about the Nigerian situation on my Facebook and Twitter timelines, but as a remote service provider and someone seeking to collaborate across border lines, I know I'd be shooting myself in the foot by shitting on my country like I should because of the optics.

How do I marry complaining about the prevalent epileptic power supply, the unreliability of ISPs, insecurity, and endemic corruption at all strata of our national life yet seek to work remotely and want to be trusted as a Nigerian while advising people in these places to outsource to more Nigerians and even pitch their tents with us?

How do I rant on about the pervasive corruption yet not expect these people to question my integrity as one in the system?

How do I marry national pride in the comity of internationals where we are discussing about advancements in digital tech and other areas when a quick perusal of my timeline depicts me being a citizen of a seeming Banana Republic?

So, here I am waking up daily with lengthy drafts I know I can't post on my time save for the nested comments of some Facebook page or group, and at intervals on the pages of the EPL Chatroom thread on Nairaland, yet my timeline doesn't reflect the reality my countrypersons rake on about daily.

I convince myself it's patriotism - national pride, but the voices in my head sneer knowing DissTroy is avoiding the obvious - it's more, and it's also about self-preservation so the picture of my country I paint right on my own timeline doesn't hurt my chances.

And I feel this raging conflict everyday even when folks ask me to write more about such issues when they encounter my back-and-forths in the abovementioned corners of the internet. But how do I really explain to them why I am writing only about tech and life and ideologies and pictures when I possibly can address my country's sociopoliticoeconomic issues too on my timeline?

This is the dilemma the Nigerian situation has put me in even as I draft another lengthy reply in a WhatsApp group I know would never go on my timeline. And I know I am not the only one in this fix. Damn, Nigeria!
