Ukraine can not become part of NATO as long as part of its territory is annexed.

So the goals of the SMO were simple enough, take the Donbass, connect Crimea to mainland Russia through Mariupol, create some type of buffer region, and destroy all of Ukraine's materiel. Then wait for Ukraine's economic collapse and capitulation.

The complication with that plan is NATO's support. NATO is pretty much paying Ukrainian salaries. The destroyed materiel have been replaced many times over. Turning this into a war will make it an Afghanistan. In that Russia will destroy Ukraine, but they'd have to occupy much of the country, which is a burden most do not want to bear.

Especially when many in the Kremlin believe this is the opening salvo to WW3.

The conflict with Ukraine is not isolated. And NATO involvement goes beyond providing training and equipment. They have bodies in it now. There are American and German operators in Kharkiv. And Polish operators in Mykoliav. A good part of the force sent to retake ZNPP was British.

Putin will need to subtly increase his forces and prepare to occupy South and East Ukraine, then formally annex the territories into Russia like he did Crimea. That'll put paid to Ukraine's wish of joining NATO officially. Then permanently station the Third Army in these regions and call it a day. He has to get used to the idea of having a bellicose Ukraine on his doorstep and treat it like the way Israel treats Hezbollah.

The vast majority of slave trade related actions happened OUTSIDE the United Kingdom in the middle passage of the Transatlantic Trade -and Britain played a huge part in ending the transatlantic slave trade - almost singlehandedly sef.

You could argue that the British Mercantile Class profited handsomely from selling human chattel, and you could argue that the profits of of the Slave trade found its way back to the UK, but what does that have to do with the Queen - and more specifically, THIS Queen?

How is it that we're going after the Queen of a country where slavery has been illegal for 600 years, instead of the various kings of Nigeria that practiced slave trade aggressively for centuries until that same Britain literally had to use violence to force them to stop

Even after Transatlantic slave trade had ENDED, slavery was still BOOMING in Northern Nigeria.
