I have an older colleague, His dad came to US in the 70s for Theology school and was to start a church here where he can get all his family a legal stay. After 2yrs the man left America in 1984 under the guise that he cannot be doing dirty man job as a big man. He went to Nigeria and became one Anglican church leader. but left his eldest son who was 14yrs behind with family friends and took the other 4 younger ones back to Naija

The 14yr old is now a big man in one company here, but the other ones in Naija one just got a visa to UK 3yrs ago, the other 3 have not been able to get visas and are stuck in their mid 40s. The father sef economy don change na that son wey dey Yankee dey build house, sed car to them in Nigeria

Many at times, we hear of people that won millions via betting but what you rarely hear is how much that particular person has lost before. The person won't tell you that the money he won hasn't even covered the one's he lost.

For every successful person here who emigrated, there is an equal number of those who emigrated and failed. But you won't see such story's here. Because everyone wants to always paint a picture of success online.

I've not heard Ibime, afrodoc or dayo talk about any single challenge they might have encountered along the way, challenges which they might have successfully scaled through but which can sink others.

I encourage everyone that cares to listen and have the means to run.
I resigned from my job back then in Nigeria and chased japa judiciously and I’ve never regretted it
My cousin saw soft life and ran from Brazil to this place, now he’s in Perth
I kept on encouraging one married woman and her husband on this Nairaland to come over and their life changed for the best.
People talk about how life abroad is expensive and all that but don’t know one week wage covers most expenses

As for the NEPA issue, it fell into my lap. My building has 4 apartments. It's the kind of storey building that has 2 apartments downstairs with 3 bedroom and 2 apartments upstairs with 3 bedroom. So we are 4 in the compound. It was a joint effort, will I say no to my neighbors and be the odd one out when I see that opportunity? Will you?.
All of us put money together to bribe the NEPA officials and it has been working for us. I'm not proud of it but I'm also not ashamed, it's the system. I didn't go looking for it.
