thorrvik55:Zouma does not need to make that tackle if Chris does his basic job. Did you see Chris there? The nigga had zero awareness Benteke was behind. Benteke did not even need to make a run. |
timbros:Ta! Comot dia abeg. He is lucky no one ran at him so he could display his escorting skills. If Palace had scored that last goal, would you be typing this rubbish? He is on the bench for a reason. |
timbros:What for? |
popizaino:The guy is far from match sharpness |
BikeMan:Did you see how Christensen was sleeping, oblivious to Benteke? |
Christensen and Abraham are fowls |
Amoto94:Don't know him. I read somewhere he's slow |
timbros:You are probably right. The guys I played football with were different from the guys I went to school with so it would be hard to track which hand the left footers used to write with. |
A40:I'm dominant right hand and dominant left foot. You may be a natural leftie whose parents made him write and eat with right hand when you were too young to remember, given your strength in your left hand. |
timbros:Funny I'm left footed but right handed. I'm yet to come across anyone with the same characteristics. |
donjazet:Then you should love the Arsenal team of 2001 to 2004. My younger brother who I mentioned is an Arsenal fan first chose Manure at the age of 10 and rocked with them for 4 or 5 years. . . until he saw Arsenal line up with 9 black men plus David Seaman and Pascal Cygan. He quickly ported to Arsenal after that and it's been tears ever since. |
thorrvik55:That nigga switched right here on Nairaland in his 20s |
iamoyindamola:Funny but true in the case of A40. That useless club Arsenal made him start supporting Bayern. Nigga was a full grown man with moustache and biabia when he made the switch. |
Greatihex:You can tell from the lack of football knowledge and the original f symbol when she first joined |
timbros:I'm a leftie same as you and settled on Chelsea same year (1997) for the same reason (Babayaro) although I had been leaning toward them that season already due to familiar players like Zola and Gullit. Also my grandad was a Chelsea fan and was asking us who we are going to support, that he supports Chelsea. My brothers picked Liverpool and Arsenal, I threw my hat into Chelsea the minute Babayaro signing was announced. |
donjazet:I'll be dropping my Man City assets to one or two, and no captaincy for them till season end |
Lana1:The guys contract situation was looking shaky with one year to go. I know that greedy Stan Kroenke would take money from Chelsea than lose him for free if he refused to re-sign. |
Sulele04:Would have loved to sign Bukayo but he doesn't want to play left back anymore plus he just signed a new contract with Arsenal. |
I don't know why I signed this Jesus in FPL sef. This niggas confidence is at zero. Pep better pray he doesn't take this lack of confidence into UCL |
popizaino:I don't need a gif to prove the truth of my assertion on Fabregas. His own career is enough proof. . . from perennial bench fodder to Monaco flop. Go and ask Monaco fans to stop booing the snail. Those fast African midfielders in Ligue 1 are rãping him. Thank God he is not my problem anymore, but Monaco's problem.
|
Greatihex:No because you want to give Hazard the overwhelming credit in a false narrative. I gave Hazard his credit. . . behind Costa, Fabregas and Terry. What happened from January is Man City collapsed, partly due to Yaya Toure exit to AFCON not because Hazard then accelerated us to the title. Once Mourinho built up a points lead during AFCON he then went full defence, grinding out 1-0 wins till the end of the season which I credit to Mourinho and Terry first and foremost, and then Hazard. First half of the season belongs to Costa and Fabregas in that order. Second half of the season belongs to Man City collapse, Mourinho, Terry and Hazard. Over the full season, I gave it to Costa, Fabregas, Terry then Hazard. Na una Hazard fan boys wey want construct false narrative that he was the primary catalyst for the title win. |
donjazet:Ancelotti was not a counterattacking coach in our title winning season. It was heavily possession based. It was the next season when Ballack and Deco left to be replaced by the headless chicken Ramires that you could say we became more direct. |
airmark:Ball watching and lack of awareness and vision is Rudigers primary problem, just like he failed to spot Yarmolenkos run and move across to snuff out the pass to him, or at least be closer to him when he gets the pass. In this gif, it's clear that the fool did not see the Roma player and is trying to let that ball bounce through to the keeper. |
popizaino:Is that the same season we finished 10th with every lower-midtable team rãping Fabregas in midfield? I have said it, that your brain is only wired to see the rare good things and myopic to the 20 times per game that Fabregas will be causing structural weakness throughout the team with his slow pressing and escorting. That is a monkey post outlook on football. |
donjazet:There is a reason why I use condescending adjectives when discussing football with Popizaino and BlueAngel. Next time, don't jump on my back for it. |
donjazet:If you don't know the history of a conversation or the history between two people, don't jump in trying to sound smart, and obfuscating the argument with the nonsense you typed up here. You even committed the fallacy of claiming Makelele was not press resistant when he was very press resistant and was well known for using the half-turn and the Kanu drag to escape pressers on his back. It is clear you jumped on my post for something else other than genuine midfield discussion. Since you brought your hothead and aproko fingers to try to obfuscate my point about the half-turn (which all registas of Jorginhos body size use to escape pressure, bar none), allow me to agree with you, Captain Obvious that "there are many ways of being press resistant including passing". . . .and also allow me to agree with you that Jorginho often escapes the press by passing. . . back to the defenders. |
Greatihex:And I am the same man that told you Fabregas was exposed in January when we played Spurs precipitating the need for JM to deploy Zouma to DM and push Fabregas higher up the pitch. By then Fabregas had already racked up numerous assists so I gave him his credit in the title run, however highlighting his weakness in midfield and marking him down for future upgrade as I did often. |
BlueMann:You have to do it perfectly 99% of the time if you are to be a deep lying regista. He does not have it. |
BlueAngel444:It is well known that you are one of the most clueless commentators here. You just regurgitate transfer rumours and put names on teamsheet like someone playing fantasy football with no knowledge of how the pieces fit together. So you read transfer rumour and put Jorginho in a 2 man midfield with Kante. Where do you know Jorginho to be a lateral midfielder who plays in 2 man midfield. Jorginho can only play in triangular shape because he is solely about the triangles. A midfielder in a 2 man midfield has a different skill set including the ability to drive, travel with the ball and not rely solely on creating triangles. On top of that, na Kante and Jorginho you come partner in a 2 man midfield in a 4-4-2 as if teams do not build up attacking advantages from aerial knockdowns. You know nothing about midfield play my guy. If I say something about midfield it's from experience of many years of playing there and decades of watching midfield and understanding midfielders roles. Any weakness I pinpoint in Chelsea midfield, managers will finally agree with me when they have an opportunity to make a transfer. From pointing out Fabregas weakness in our midfield halfway through our title run, Conte came later and sat him down. From pointing out Mikel and Ramires unsuitability all those years ago, again managers saw them out when they had the opportunity. Even the Bakayoko I begged Chelsea not to sign that he receives the ball blindly and will lose it often. Within weeks, he was exposed and shipped out at season end. We can even go back to when the debate on this board was Mata vs Oscar and I said they are both weaknesses and DeBruyne is the best candidate. Even as recently as 3 weeks ago when you were foolishly building Chelsea future team with Jorginho at the centre, I told you Jorginho is a structural weakness and should not have any future at Chelsea. 3 weeks later, Lampard has locked him in cage like Atum. You keep commentating like a fan, I will continue to give you the managers perspective. The same perspective that had Fabregas riding bench to Monaco and Mikel riding bench for years all the way to China. In a typical football match where midfielders will make 200 presses, you won't see the 20 times in that match Fabregas was unable to make his press effectively and quickly, causing Willian, Kante or Azpi to get dragged out of the man they are pressing to come and help, leaving overload on their side due to Fabregas lack of legs. You will only see the beautiful pass he made to Costa. The difference between what both of us see in the game is due to experience and knowledge of what a midfielder should be providing. |
BlueAngel444:Good press resistance is receiving the ball on half-turn when someone is on your back and you spin away from them and face forward rather than passing back to defenders. Jorginho cannot spin away from anybody, that's why he passes back. The whole point of press resistance is that your only passing options are backward so you need to spin the player. Jorginho can't do that. |
BlueAngel444:Yes |
iamoyindamola:Till today nobody knows. Too slow to play CAM, too press irrrestitant to play CM. He decided to sit back in DM and become a liability that any team can attack through. Teammates meanwhile have to overcompensate the gaps he leaves and leave their men to come and close spaces everytime someone drifts past him. The one year I saw him play very well as a CAM was 2007 or so. After that, football quickened up and he is too slow to play there in modern football so he decided to become a defensive liability. I will never forget how PSG with 10 men bullied him in UCL in 2014/15. Nigga could not even carry his team past the halfway line against 10 men. Matuidi and Berratti physically locked him in a cage like Atum did to Jehovah. No wonder he had Chelsea completely impotent in UCL and 2 of the 3 years he was a starter, we were beset by midfield weakness and could not make top 4. |
