Samantha124: For me it's a subject, and that subject is called mathematics.
I was never good at it to a point that during mathematics classes, I'd feel sleepy and was always in a hurry for the teacher to finish teaching.
I finally dropped it in high school, unknown to me that my dream job requires mathematics and physical science, which was meteorology.
But I made peace with it and continued without mathematics, I specifically chose law when I applied for tertiary education knowing that it doesn't necessarily require mathematics... It was only when I started attending my lectures that I attended this one lecture and I was surprised when I heard the lecturer started speaking about simultaneous equations..
At first I thought I didn't hear her well, but my eyes confirmed what I heard when she started writing on the board about solving for X, the same X I failed to solve back in my early years in high school had come back to make my life a living hell.
I was like nooo, there must be some mistake somewhere, for a moment I thought I was lost and in a different lecture hall since I was still new, I looked around for familiar faces and I found them... I took out my proof of registration to confirm as to whether I really did register for the module because I didn't remember seeing mathematics on my proof of registration.
I checked and I was surprised that I had registered for it, but it was referred to as Basic Numeracy... I felt my temperature and heart rate increase.. ... I was so pissed off, I was just looking at the lecturer like she was owing me some few thousand dollars... I'm sure if someone had approached me at that moment with an intention of just exchange friendly gestures, I'd have exploded... .. I didn't understand a thing that was coming out of her mouth, in my ears it sounded like she was speaking Greek.
I didn't even know how she got to her final answer, all I saw was six to seven steps of numbers and letters on the board.
When I got to my room, I called home and told them that law had mathematics and I didn't know if I should continue with it, they encouraged me not to give up that easily and just take a one step at a time... To cut the long story short, I ended up having five mathematics mentors.. .. Sometimes one would come in the morning, while the other would come in the afternoon, and another the following day...
And in the end, I passed it... .. It was only for first year.
Then you should stay away from business or company law because it's a whole world of mathematics in there
Samantha124: Apart from afro beats and gospel music, I'd like to know what's that one music genre from Nigeria that's not popular, but yet capable of uniting all Nigerians from all parts of Nigeria despite them being from different tribes?
In South Africa I'd have to say it's gwijo music genre... The name originates from the Xhosa culture and it involves collective singing, it has now spread throughout all the South African cultures to a point that you'd find people singing this genre of music in celebrations, funerals, schools, work places, and any other community gatherings, it doesn't matter the tribe you're from... It's capable of uniting families, friends, school mates, colleagues, community members, and etc.
Some of us grew up singing this genre of music, but we just didn't know the actual name for it...
So I'd like to know which Nigerian music genre is also capable of uniting Nigerians apart from Afro beats and gospel.
