You took 4 years to construct 200Km railway. You were constructing 50Km of track per year. One minute you claim kenya economy is puny consisting of tea & flowers - the next you claim we have oil, gold and name it. Yes we have probably all minerals but in very minute quantities they are as good as non-existent. We have not sold single oil barrel.
Double track. Don't forget that. 186km of double track.

Show me where I said you only have tea and flowers!

I don't care about quantities, you have you have.
So stop claiming you don't have natural resources.

Kenya began 2018 with maiden cargo train and two passenger train on its greenfield SGR..we kept adding a train every month and as of now..we ran 30 cargo trains and 4 passenger trains daily.Ethiopia who began two years early are still on 2 or 1 train.Kenya by end of 2019 will transport 8m cargo thro sgr..25% of all cargo...and 5yrs earlier than projected.Lets not talk about Nigeria sgr...still under construction 10yrs later and whatever is operational can barely do a trip.Kenya SGR from MSA to NBO was constructed in record 3yrs..2yrs ahead of schedule...and is already 5yrs ahead of projection in the cargo its handling.Nigeria took 6yrs to construct Abuja kaduna...mere 200km..took another 2yrs to start operation and 2yrs later it has carried 900k passenger.Kenya SGR in one & half year had carried 2m passengers...6m tonnes of cargo in a year. KENYA CAN NEVER BE COMPARED TO NIGERIA OR WORSE THE LAZY NEIGHBOUR TANZANIA.Yes we dont have oil or gold or diamond but we make our tea & flowers count by using our brains & muscles...human capital is the greatest resource.Ethiopia already asked for 20yr extension to repay sgr..we are asking for more loans.
Although it was initiated 2006/2007, Construction started 2011-2014 so it took four years to construct Abuja kaduna line which is double track btw not single track like your overpriced line.

Kenya has oil, it also has gold, stop lying.

kenya unlike Tz and Nigeria has never and will not have debt problem. We have never defaulted or ask for debt forgiviness. Our debt to gdp has always been around 30-60% of our gdp.Our sgr has attained 5yr projections in just 1yr.We are running 4 passenger trains daily. We are running about 14 cargo trains daily. This is in just one year.Chinese have agreed to finance the remaining part of SGR coz kenya is not a banana republic.
Tell me about Nigeria's debt problem grin

They are in the same boat? Even Ghana with a population of just 28m? That's disgraceful.
Complete three years program for Ghana.

They should be out by now though. It's now left for them to start borrowing again. grin

But friend, it looks like you take it too lightly!

Do you know they owe China?I don't think it will be easier to just "jump" or "bark".

We are talking about their last hope being taken away...a Mombasa port.
Take away Mombasa port and poof, Kenya is gone. Maybe they will start using Tanzania's port. For a fee of course.

I said Kenyan Banks can't lend "that" amount of money to the government.

Check the total assets of your banks and check the amount of your debt, you will understand.

But that is foolish!

Remember all debts goes with exorbitant interests! So in real sense they are getting deeper n deeper into unpayable debts.

Exactly! Deeper and deeper. Maybe you guys should bail them out. grin

The growth you see in the Kenyan economy is a bubble aided by loans. Loans Kenya can't repay because the country's economy is based on tea and flowers.Loans to GDP for Kenya is over 50%.Loan portfolio is growing at a rate faster than the economy. Sane people can't take Kenya seriously. The economy is damn too small at $60bn. How can such a small impoverished country own $50bn? Not only the port is at risk, other valuable assets are at risk as well. Every year, they make huge budgets, a third of which is usually stolen. In a couple of years' time, the bubble will burst and the Kenyans will see how dangerous and foolish it is to build an economy on loans and flowers and tea alone.
Don't worry, when the bubble bursts, they will place themselves under IMF supervision just like Ghana (talk about birds of the same feathers).

What it basically means is that when IMF says "jump" they will ask how high. If IMF says "bark" they will ask how loud. grin grin

Land was also reclaimed for this project.

Dangote refinery. It is not actually the largest refinery in the world but The largest single train refinery in the world.

to me, d most important is d 4000mw ipp project. Lagos should just leave naija's power alone.

After that, the free trade zone is next, it'll attract investors n manufacturers which in turn generate revenue.

The rest are just microcisms for development.
Dangote refinery is going to deliver 12000mw of electricity. Think about that!

Ibrahimanis, how do you reckon Lagos economy will be like when the following projects are completed and fully functioning?

1) Lagos light rail

2) Eko Atlantic

3) Dangote refinery

4) Lekki deep seaport

5) Oshodi transport renovation

6) Orange island,Lekki free trade zone

etc etc grin
Currently j'borg is biggest city on the continent by GDP, Lagos is projected to overtake it before 2030 grin

Among the projects listed, the one which will have tremendous and dramatic effect on Lagos is not eko Atlantic (surprisingly) but Lekki FTZ, Dangote refinery, Lekki deep seaport and the light rail. (not necessarily in that order).

Heck, dangote refinery alone is capable of transforming any city on the continent, even J'borg. (which is no easy feat). That thing is freaking huge. Then imagine the refinery working in tandem with the other projects. Talk about wet dream grin

I don't really understand how transport interchanges work, maybe you can help on that.

I have some pictures on the projects, will post letter, gotta run.
