Morbius came out, didn't do particularly great and exited theaters quietly. Online, people started making fun of the movie and started using Morbius for various memes, notably "It's Morbin' Time", a line not actually in the movie, but since nobody watched or even wanted to see it to confirm, it spread for its ridiculousness. cheesy

Sony sees this and somehow thinks this means Morbius is popular so they rerelease it in theaters and it goes as well as you'd expect. grin

So.... was the 85k gross good or bad?

This is one of those independent low-budget films that renews one’s faith in the film industry.

I’m all for Hollywood blockbusters, full of superheroes and exploding planets, but I love these smaller films that often tackle more interesting themes as well as giving us characters we can truly relate to.

Resolution (2012)......7.7/10

A companion film to the above.

The movie had a budget of 90 million but it made 30milion at the box office. I feel sad for the man. cry

Feel sad for the man? are you for real?

Great..... because of y'all he's rethinking his strategy after the movie's failure. The man is an amazing director and now he has to succumb to pressure for viewers to be satisfied if he wants to keep getting work. Superhero movie culture have sidelined arthouse for real

It's a no brainer, you've to give your audience what they want.

I'll never understand Halle Berry's sexual allure. She's just a lekpa with pretty face, nothing more. A red-blooded hardworking man cannot conduct research solely on the basis of a pretty face, there has be something more rounded and robust to help gratify your imagination, if you know what I mean. wink

This is exactly how I feel about Zoë Kravitz BTW. I watched her on Kimi (2022) and I have never been more turned off by a woman in my life. She's just a stick figure with a pretty face, and yet some men are tripping all over her, like how I don't understand it. angry

Halle Berry used to be sexy back then o. she was my childhood crush.

Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022) 9/10
Directors: Daniel Kwan & Daniel Scheinert

Everything actually does matter in this acid trip from directors Daniel and Daniel. Every piece of the story, the setting, almost all the characters (every version of them).
Michelle Yeoh leads this multiversal adventure to solve a problem that wouldn't be created if Asian parents stopped putting so much pressure on they kids. Flanked by a couple of pretty talented actors Ke Huy Quan, playing Yeoh's husband, Waymond and Stephanie Hsu, playing their daughter, Joy.
Ke Huy Quan was my standout performance in this movie, making his switches across all versions of Waymond look easy to perform and each one absolutely believable to the audience.
Yeoh does a really good job conveying Evelyn's frustrations as she deals with a midlife crisis in denial while juggling the fate of life across all planes as we know it with an ailing father and a crumbling family and business.

I don't know if there's any form of storytelling I respect more than combining the funny/ridiculous with the serious/grim and making it work. Daniel and Daniel nail that job here taking us on an absolute wild trip through the course of this movie while also maintaining its heart. Through all the hilarious, crazy, WTF moments in this story, we never lose sight of the real conflict or its weight and stakes.

This balance in the storytelling, great performance from the cast, thrilling action choreography from my boys, Martial Club and a well-blended OST from Son Lux all come together to make this movie one of the best out of Everything that came out Everywhere so far this year. Yeah, I couldn't work in All at Once. But maybe in another universe, I did. grin grin

Or maybe it's not that deep, and the movie's just trying to tell us that Asian parents will risk the multiverse ending before accepting they gay kids.

Now this is a review I can get behind. this is a review by someone who understood what he watched and appreciated the beauty of it.

SOZINN, read and learn.

The Lost City (2022).....4/10

Spoilers!!!

Movie was going great until they decided to kill off the best actor in the film. it was a borefest from there on out.

I kept looking at the time, something I never do when a movie is interesting. the jokes were stale and none of them landed.

Sandra Bullocks is like a shrinkled old witch with her flat brez, she's the antithesis of sexy.

There is nothing to enjoy in the film sef. The villain is a little boy with beard.

What a waste of my data and time.

Everything Everywhere All At Once 2022

First and foremost, you must understand that if you take this film seriously, you will be disappointed. The film is not serious about itself.
No shit, it's an absurdist dramedy for fvck sake.

SOZINN:

While I recognize that if you want to make your audience laugh there are certain techniques to follow, the comedy and crazy can only go so far in impressing me. This film piqued my interest because it was billed as a science fiction flick. However, the biggest issue I have with it is that it does not provide much in the way of science fiction.
get a load of doctor comedy over here. this guy has a phd in comedy and knows more than the directors who wrote and directed this movie. I guess you must have missed the whole concept of fiction in science fiction. science fiction is a science that is not real and the multiversal jumping in the film perfectly encapsulate science fiction to a T, my guy.

SOZINN:

Let's begin with the duration: 130 minutes! It's 130 minutes too arduous, and the questions I had at the end could have been answered if they had spent more time discussing specific details. Instead, they chose to lengthen it with a lot of unnecessary scenes. For a film that isn't really in the comedy category, it gets lost in it. If you don't use those extra minutes in the run time to impart detail about the film's elements, you're wasting my time.
oh boy. my guy went straight to the 3rd base without going through the first and second. the film is a comedy drama and an absurdist one at that, which means some of the scenes are deliberately designed not to make sense in a literally sense but makes perfect sense metaphorically. it's even in the name of the film. you can't possibly be everything and be everywhere at once, but metaphorically the film is trying to tell us something, and I dare say, it executed its message perfectly. I guess everything went over your head. oops!

SOZINN:

Then there's the setting; there's nothing to see here, and it's not even impressive. While their "Multiverse phenomenon" is conveyed in a novel fashion, it is also rather messy. The film appears to have been made on a shoestring budget; if this is the case, the funds were wisely spent. The theory of the Multiverse, on the other hand, is not something that low-budget filmmakers should pursue. You will need a large budget to present that kind of story in a colorful and satisfying manner, and that is the fact.
excuse me, genius, do you honestly expect the structure of an absurdist comedy drama to be coherent? a deliberately messy film can be a masterpiece if done right, but I guess you don't know that. the cgi used in the film is suited for it, and helped make the film a colourful trip. so I don't know where you get the idea the film is made on a shoestring budget. I'm becoming more and more convinced that you didn't watch this film with every paragraph.

SOZINN:

On to the acting. The acting was excellent for the most part. I'm not a big fan of Asian acting, but I can tell when someone has put in a lot of effort to put on a good show. It's no easy feat to deliver madness on this scale, but this film has the proper personnel. The director deserves praise for a job well done. The plot moves along nicely, although there are a few flaws due to the large number of unnecessary scenes. The narrative conveyed a good message effectively, and while it, like most stories, has flaws, it is a pretty decent plot overall.

Another aspect I need to address is the dialogue. It was a disaster. It falls short of expectations for a science fiction film. I was shaking my head even when I watched passages where they used native language with subtitles. The first 60 minutes of dialogue are nearly comical. As expected, superb fight choreography and decent use of CGI for an Asian film. I can't give this movie a higher rating than a five. Not what I had anticipated. Science fiction/Adventure ugh

Your review is all over the place.

Bro no be by force to dey review movie, Instead of verbosing nonsense and forming mr critic, first understand the movie wey you dey review, you hear? undecided

if you had kept watching before opening your mouth, you would have gotten the answer to this your rant...

Next time watch before ranting...
Your questions were answered in the movie...

Several reasons why the motive was not shown earlier...
To show that what he saw as a child or rather his belief/ view is not exactly how things were...
As a child he was ignorant...in reality things were not as they seemed... (I will not finish this statement to avoid spoilers)

Also for the plot twist later in the movie...

But you just went on a rant without finishing a 2 hour movie...
I wonder how someone like you would watch a show like AOT where you won't get motive or answer for full seasons and even when the answers come...it'll keep coming in bits and bits

Next time learn patience tf
