Galatians 5:16
[16]This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
Your strength is in the Lord, quote scriptures when the urges come, give your self to prayers. A prayerless Christian will be weak spiritually. Wage a war of faith against this act and I tell you, you'll be free
Talk to someone of faith if there be a need, because the longer you linger in that sin the deadlier it is to your faith
May God help you

HealthNew COVID-19 Treatment Successful With First Two Patients by Ibroseun01(op): 5:50pm On Apr 16, 2020
Opanagib is a “new chemical entity” which is administered orally and performs “anticancer, anti-viral and anti-inflammatory activities.”

The first two patients who were treated with a new Israeli treatment for the novel COVID-19 after testing positive have shown significant improvement, with one of them even being removed from the intensive care unit (ICU) within days of treatment.

Israeli biopharmaceutical RedHill Biopharma Ltd. administered their experimental drug, Opaganib, in Israel for the first time last week.

Boredom Ad
The first two patients treated, according to the company, have demonstrated significant improvement through clinical trial within mere days of treatment.

“We are very encouraged by the preliminary findings showing clinical improvement in the first COVID-19 patients treated with Opaganib, which further supports its safety and potential benefit to patients,” said Medical Director at RedHill, Mark L. Levitt, MD, Ph.D.”

Our hope is that the unique mechanism of action of Opaganib, with both anti-viral and anti-inflammatory activity, will help COVID-19 patients by reducing lung inflammation, and thus preventing the disease from progressing to a stage which requires mechanical ventilation.

Importantly, Opaganib is targeting a critical host factor that the coronavirus is unlikely to evade via mutation in possible future outbreaks of the pandemic.”

The two patients initially suffered from “moderate to severe acute respiratory symptoms related to SARS-CoV-2 infection, required supplemental oxygenation and were hypoxic despite being treated with maximum flow of oxygen with cannulas.”

After the treatment, they both needed less supplemental oxygen as well as C-reactive protein, the latter of which is an “inflammatory biomarker correlated with lung lesions which could reflect disease severity.”

An additional condition of the coronavirus is lymphocytopenia, meaning an abnormally low level of lymphocytes in the blood, which both of the patients started off with. A few days after the treatment, however, both patients showed significant improvement in that regard.

One of the two patients was in the ICU and even considered for intubation, but within days of the experimental drug being administered, they were released.

The patients received the opanagib treatment while receiving the standard care for coronavirus, which includes hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) as background therapy.Opanagib is a “new chemical entity,” according to RedHill, which is administered orally and performs “anticancer, anti-viral and anti-inflammatory activities.”

“We are committed to expanding the availability of Opaganib under compassionate use to additional hospitals and countries and are hopeful that this treatment could potentially benefit COVID-19 patients with life-threatening manifestations,” Dr. Levitt said. The company received the green light from the Italian National Institute for Infectious Diseases last week to administer the drug in the aggressively virus-ridden country.

Approximately 160 patients will be treated in “three major hospitals in northern Italy under an expanded access program.”Meanwhile, discussions are still ongoing in the US and other countries as to whether they may administer opanagib as part of “compassionate use program authorizations” and “potential emergency clinical development programs.”

Israel’s Pluristem also developed a treatment for coronavirus: A placenta-based cell-therapy treatment which has proven successful on numerous patients upon which it was tested so far.

CrimeBank Robbery Scare Causes Panic In Ado-Ekiti by Ibroseun01(op): 4:11pm On Nov 23, 2018
There was pandemonium in some parts of Ado-Ekiti on Friday following the spread of a news of a purported attack on two commercial banks by suspected armed robbery.
The alleged robbery which turned out to be a hoax was said to have taken place on two banks located in Ijigbo and Secretariat Road.
Many residents fled in different directions when a security officer allegedly mishandled his rifle by firing some gun shots into the air in Ijigbo area of the town.
Some armed policemen deployed to the area with the intent of quelling the phantom robbery also announced their arrival at the scene by firing gunshots into the air.
The hullabaloo sparked by the gun shots paralyzed traffic, social and economic activities for about 45 minutes.
Anxious residents caught in the web of the robbery scare ran for their dear lives.
Others called their family members, friends, coworkers and well wishers to avoid Ijigbo and Secretariat Road which has the highest concentration of banks to avoid the “trouble spots.”
Messages were also circulated on the social media alleging that the two banks were being attacked simultaneously.
Normalcy was later returned as the culprit who mishandled his firearm has been arrested.

EducationBowen, UNILAG, EKSU Students Emerge Winners Of Maritime Blueprint Competition by Ibroseun01(op): 3:56pm On Aug 30, 2018
STUDENTS from Bowen University, Iwo in Ondo State, University of Lagos (UNILAG) and Ekiti State University (EKSU), have emerged winners of the Maritime Blueprint Competition in which law students from six universities participated.
The competition, sponsored by SIFAX Group, is one of the activities of the Taiwo Afolabi Annual Maritime Conference, which is in its third edition and held in partnership with the Maritime Forum of the Faculty of Law, University of Lagos.
At the end of the keenly-contested competition, which used a debate format, Bowen University, represented by Adekeye Olanrewaju and Dunmade Samuel, emerged the overall winners with 85 points while University of Lagos represented by Pius Bankong and Ipinnuoluwa Ade-Ademi, came second with 81 points, while Ekiti State University represented by Durola Ayobami Tosin and Oyewole Sunday came third with 78 points.
Other schools that participated were University of Benin, University of Ilorin and Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
The first round of the debate was on the merits and demerits of foreign direct investments in the maritime sector. The final round of the debate was on the topic “Port Costs & Port Charges: A Recurring Decimal Under Port Reform Regime.”
Mouth-watering prizes including laptops, smart phones and cash were given to the winners.
Speaking on the competition, Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, Group Executive Vice Chairman, SIFAX Group, said the need to deepen the knowledge base of the law students and to stimulate their interest in the country’s maritime industry were responsible for the company’s sponsorship of the competition.
“We don’t have enough maritime legal experts in the industry as I speak to you. Very few students also show interests in the legal aspect of the sector. Having identified this, the company decided to take up the sponsorship of the competition.
“We believe that this gesture would go a long way in stimulating interest of students in maritime law. I am personally leading the mentorship charge because as a lawyer, I have experienced firsthand the many opportunities inherent in the application of law to the maritime sector.

PoliticsPDP Will “capture’’ North-west Geopolitical Zone In 2019’ by Ibroseun01(op): 7:20am On Aug 20, 2018
Jos – Encouraged by the gale of defections to its fold, the North-West zone of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), says it will “capture’’ that geopolitical zone in the 2019 general elections.

Hundreds of Imo PDP members protests to Police headquarters in Owerri, over alleged attack on Fayose by the Police. Photo by Chinonso AlozieMr Joseph Gumbari, Secretary, North-West zone of the party, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Jos that the defections from the ruling APC to the PDP had strengthened the later to regain the zone it lost in the 2015 polls.

“Sokoto is already in the kitty; Kano is within grasp while Kaduna and Jigawa are `practically’ back to the fold.

“Zamfara people are feeling neglected. They have continued to express their disappointment and have vowed to show their anger during the polls in 2019.

“We are also taking the battle to President Muhammadu Buhari’s home in Katsina State where we are not doing badly. We got more than 60,000 votes during the senatorial bye-elections in his constituency last week which is a good showing.

“There is some cause for celebration, but we are not taking anything for granted. We are still working for the return of more people that made us thick before they derailed in 2015,’’ Gumbari, a former member of the National Assembly, said.

NAN reports that the PDP, which won only one senate seat, out of the 21 seats in the zone’s seven states, now has close to 10, following a gale of defections to its fold last month.

The gains were recorded in Kaduna, Kano, Jigawa and Sokoto.

Aside the Sokoto Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, the party also received the Deputy Governor of Kano State, Prof. Afiz Abubakar, in addition to some members of the National and State Houses of Assembly.

It also received many commissioners, special advisers and special assistants to some governors.

Basking in the euphoria of the defections, Gumbari said that his party was poised to stage a comeback in the zone famed to have the largest number of voters in the country.

He claimed that more defectors would soon be received, saying that the party’s doors were open to people ready to join its train.

Gumbari said that the PDP would ensure a level playing ground to all its members, but advised the defectors to place national interest above individual considerations.

He also advised politicians seeking elective offices to play the game by the rule, saying that winning an election should not be seen as a “do or die’’ affair.

The PDP scribe advised Nigerians to acquire their Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs), so as to have a say in who governs them, and cautioned voters against selling their votes to anyone.

“People must vote their conscience and resist the temptation to sell their votes for peanuts,’’ he counselled. (NAN)

PoliticsOsun Guber: I Can’t Guarantee Victory For APC – Deputy Speaker, Lassun by Ibroseun01(op): 9:05pm On Aug 19, 2018
He explained that the essence of the media briefing was to specifically meet with his gubernatorial campaign team after losing the primary election of July 19 to Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, and thank them for a job well done irrespective of the credibility and outcome of the exercise.

Yussuff admitted that he has not congratulated the APC candidate, saying that the party and Osun government did not congratulate him either when he emerged as the Deputy Speaker.

He debunked the allegation that he conspired to work against the party decision during the June 2015 leadership election at the National Assembly, adding that what was described as party position was just personal wish of some people.
Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Osun State, Hon. Lassun Yussuff has said he cannot boast of victory for his party in the September 22 governorship election in the state.

He opined that desperate move by some individuals to subvert due process has seriously alienated many “local politicians” in APC which has resulted to mass defections and thereby polarised the party in the state.

Yussuff, who spoke at a press conference in Osogbo, the Osun State capital on Saturday, however reiterated his resolve to stay back in the party and work for its success.

He explained that the essence of the media briefing was to specifically meet with his gubernatorial campaign team after losing the primary election of July 19 to Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, and thank them for a job well done irrespective of the credibility and outcome of the exercise.

He debunked the allegation that he conspired to work against the party decision during the June 2015 leadership election at the National Assembly, adding that what was described as party position was just personal wish of some people.

He said, “I am here today to tell Nigerians that in any contest, winners must emerge irrespective of the credibility of the process, and also clear the air on insinuations that may be I have jumped the ship after the primaries.

“I want to make it abundantly clear that I am still in APC with my supporters, we are here to support the party in the forthcoming gubernatorial election.

“It is however instructive for the party to know that many people have been alienated from the party in the state by some individuals who claim larger than life influence, which has led to defections of local politicians from APC.

As far as I am concerned, I have no place to go, and I believe if members could put all that happened during the primaries behind them and work in unison for the party, things could be better.

” Although, I cannot guarantee victory for the party because I have not conducted any poll to support that”, he said.

Yussuff added that the party has not approached him for reconciliation after the primary election, which some aspirants have condemned as not transparent and credible.

PoliticsFayose Berates APC For Attacking Recruitment Exercise by Ibroseun01(op): 3:34pm On Aug 19, 2018
Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose on Saturday berated the All Progressives Congress (APC) from criticising the recruitment of 1,000 teachers and another 1,000 various categories of workers into its public service.
Fayose, also, deplored the Governor-elect, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, saying rather than acting like an alternate government, Fayemi should wait till October 16 that he would begin to enjoy the benefits of the July 14 electoral fraud.
This was contained in a statement his Special Assistant on Public Communications & New Media, Lere Olayinka issued yesterday, asking the governor-elect and his party to wait till October 16 before running the affairs of the state.
The statement pointed out that with less than two weeks to the end of his tenure in 2014, Fayemi appointed eight permanent secretaries, noting that all of them “are still in office up till now.”
Apart from appointing eight permanent secretaries, the statement revealed that the governor-elect also recruited several workers behind closed doors and they are still in the service.”The statement pointed out that with less than two weeks to the end of his tenure in 2014, Fayemi appointed eight permanent secretaries, noting that all of them “are still in office up till now.”
Apart from appointing eight permanent secretaries, the statement revealed that the governor-elect also recruited several workers behind closed doors and they are still in the service.”Rather than acting like an alternate government, according to the statement, Fayemi should wait till October 16 that he will begin to enjoy the benefits of the July 14 electoral fraud. The statement said: “It is on record that Fayose announced in January that recruitment will be made into the state public service and this was followed up with distribution of employment forms in May.
“This was consequent upon the existing vacancies in the public service, especially the teaching sector. There are schools without adequate teachers in critical subjects like Mathematics, Physics, English and others. So the students that are resuming in September should wait till Fayemi assumes office?
“Most importantly, Fayose will carry out all the functions of his office till October 16 and since there is need to employ workers, the state government will do so through a transparent process.
“Is it not funny that the same APC people that criticised the state government for constructing a modern Oja Oba Market in Ado Ekiti are now kicking against allocation of the shops to the people? So Fayose should build the market for Fayemi to come and allocate the shops to his cronnies?”
The statement, therefore, noted that the APC in Ekiti State should bear in mind that there “is still a government in the State and that government will not change until October 16.”
It added that the final process of the recruitment exercise had commenced In fulfillment of the promise made by the state government on the recruitment of 1,000 teachers and another 1,000 various categories of workers into its public service.https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2018/08/19/fayose-berates-apc-for-attacking-recruitment-exercise/amp/

PoliticsOutrage In Ekiti Over Demolition Of Ayefele's Radio Station By Oyo Govt by Ibroseun01(op): 3:18pm On Aug 19, 2018
THE demolition of Yinka Ayefele Music House housing his Fresh FM, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, in the early hours of Sunday, has attracted outrage among the people of Ekiti State.

People discussed the demolition in Adebayo area of Ado Ekiti, on Sunday, with obvious feeling of resentment, with many of them questioning the timing of the demolition.

Also on the social media, especially through Facebook, many Ekiti citizens expressed dismay at the demolition of the business premises, saying they believed that the demolition by the Oyo State government was “insensitive” and “an act of wickedness.”

A cleric, Àpóstélì Onès Kayode-Daramola, had been posting on his Facebook wall about the development since the demolition notice became public knowledge, and had hoped the building would not be demolished.

On Saturday, August 18, he posted: “What Ajimobi is doing in Oyo State is not democracy, it is tyranny. Pulling down Ayefele’s radio and studios and destroying the ‘wheelchaired’ man’s life will now make Oyo people to love APC more.”

However, on Sunday morning, apparently after he and others had learnt of the eventual demolition, Kayode-Daramola wrote:

“Now that Ajimobi has done his worst, let him go to Abuja and become the president. Let his son go to UN and unseat Ban Kii Moon.”

Also, nearly all the callers to a programme of a private radio station in the town, Voice FM, on Sunday morning, lamented the demolition and contended that Mr. Yinka Ayefele should relocate the station to Ekiti State.

Call after call into the programme, the callers lamented the development and decried the action of government of Governor Ajimobi, describing the demolition as in bad taste.

The variously charged Ayefele to relocate his station to Ekiti State, with one of them saying “let him relocate his radio station to Ekiti State. We will support and protect him.”https://www.tribuneonlineng.com/amp/160603

PoliticsPolice Has Declared War On Rivers State – Governor Wike by Ibroseun01(op): 3:10pm On Aug 19, 2018
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has stated that the consistency with which the Police sabotages the electoral process in Rivers State amounts to a declaration of war on the people.
In a state broadcast on Sunday on the suspended Port Harcourt State Constituency Three bye-election, Governor Wike charged Rivers people not to succumb to the antics of the police, lest they become slaves in their fatherland.
Governor Wike said: “The consistent sabotage of the electoral process by the Police amounts to a declaration of war against the people of Rivers State and their solemn rights to freely and fairly choose their leaders and representatives.
“Clearly there are dangerous times ahead but we must not give in to intimidation lest we loose our liberties and become slaves in our own land.
“Against the backdrop it is up to the people of Rivers State to choose the option that will serve their interest.”
Governor Wike said despite assurances from the Rivers State Commissioner of Police during the last State Security Council meeting that the police will remain neutral and act professionally, the police on Saturday August 18, 2018, joined forces with APC thugs to disrupt elections.
He said: “As we had feared, the Police failed us completely once again and negated all that they promised. Instead of providing security for voters and INEC officials the Police brazenly colluded with political thugs of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to subvert the democratic process and denied the people of Port Harcourt Constituency III their rights to free, fair and credible elections.
“Confirmed reports from the field indicated that INEC promptly and rightly distributed elections materials to all the polling units within a recorded time.
“However, while voting was underway, armed thugs from the APC led by the State’s factional Chairman, Mr. Flag Ojukaye Amachree, moved freely from one polling unit to the other, violently assaulted voters and INEC officials and carted away election materials, including smart card readers and ballot boxes.”
The governor added: “It is important to note that Ojukaye Flag Amachree who led the thugs is the same person facing multiple murder trial and instead of arresting him as ordered by the trial court, the Police has continued to aid and shield him from arrest and prosecution.
“It is equally important to note that Ojukaye Flag Amachree and his thugs freely and easily overran the entire constituency and successfully disenfranchised the electorates with the active support, protection and guidance of heavily armed police operatives from the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (F-SARS) and the Inspector General of Police’s Monitoring Unit.”https://www.today.ng/news/politics/port-harcourt-election-police-declared-war-rivers-state-governor-wike-143768/amp

PoliticsDon’t Let Violence Destroy Nigeria, US Warns by Ibroseun01(op): 11:04am On Aug 18, 2018
The United States has warned that Nigerians must not allow what it called “cyclical communal violence” to destroy the country.

The US Consul General in Nigeria, John Bray who gave the charge expressed concerns over continued tensions in the country.

A statement by the US Consulate  General in Lagos made available to Saturday Tribune on Friday said Bray spoke while opening a one-day national youth dialogue on ethno-religious tolerance organised by the US Consulate General, in partnership with the African Youths Initiative for Crime Prevention (AYICRIP).

The Consul General reaffirmed the US’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote peace and admonished Nigerians to ensure that cyclical communal violence does not threaten national unity.

“Each of us has a role to play in tamping down tensions between communities of all kinds.

“It is in your hands to ensure that this tragic violence does not descend into broader ethnic and religious fighting, and a cycle of reprisals.  We must all make sure that the fighting does not eat away at the fabric of Nigeria, the multi-religious and multiethnic tolerance that makes this a great and unified nation,” he stated.

At the event, US Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom, Samuel Brownback, also cautioned Nigerian political office holders, representatives of civil society and religious leaders against amplifying ethno-religious tension in the country.

Instead, he charged them to focus on peace-buildings, adding that “we need to truly care for each other.”

Ambassador Brownback, who met with a group of religious leaders during a visit to Nigeria in June, commended increased inter-faith engagement and dialogue in Nigeria, but noted that the country could do more to protect citizens’ right to religious freedom.

“When I visited Nigeria in June, I met with communities from all different faiths located all over the country and heard about how interfaith groups and people from every religion have come together to begin stopping the violence at the community level, which is a great starting point.

“However, we need to do better than just achieving tolerance; we need to truly care for each other. The people, who stand for peace, do not do this because they are from the same ethnic group, or because they share a common religion.  They believe the lives of everyone are sacred,” he said.

PoliticsI Am Not Desperate To Be President- Atiku by Ibroseun01(op): 6:31pm On Aug 14, 2018
Nigeria’s former Vice President, Mr. Abubakar Atiku, has said he is not desperate to be President of the country.
