Travel / Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by iceberg54: 3:38pm On Mar 12, 2016
Thanks for your reply.

I guess i will be patient then. It will be two months on the 27th and i haven't been contacted by any CO. But then they don't always require additional info.

Please do you know if one is required to travel within a specified time after visa approval?.

And does the 18 months start counting from visa approval date or when one lands in Australia?

Sorry to bother you. Thanks a lot.

Dfavouredone:

The time varies, but it was about a space of 2 - 3 months in general. A third friend just got his own yesterday and submitted around 2nd week of December, 2015.

I submitted mine on the 29th of December last Year. Yet to receive final decision but have been contacted once by a CO to request for an additional document.

So you will have to release, that was how their status was until they received their approval mail. This 476 subclass visa is almost a sure banker if u meet the criteria.
Travel / Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by iceberg54: 3:05pm On Mar 12, 2016
Bro, applied for 476 as well..submitted my application on jan 27. Haven't heard from them since..my status still reads Application submitted.

How long did it take before your friends got it and when did you apply yourself?

Cheers bro!

Dfavouredone:

I guess your MSc is from UK. Then u can apply for Australia visa subclass 476. It allows recent engineering graduate from countries sign to the Washington accord to apply for a 18months temporary visa.

The visa allow u to work full-time or study if u want. But u must be less than 31 years and apply within two years after graduation.

The beauty of this visa is that u don't need to show any fund whatsoever. And it almost guarantee if u meet the criteria.

Two of my friends has gotten it this year and am waiting for mine. This visa is not popular in Nigeria bcoz Nigeria is not a signatory to the Washington accord, so engineering graduate from Nigeria uni is not eligible. But u having a UK master engineering degree can apply (even if ur first degree is from Nigeria).

Give it from 1-7days from the day you enter the pool with atleast 400 CRS. If you still do not receive it, deactivate your account and create a new one.

No, it doesn't run like the EE ITA.

Okay, thanks a lot.

vcole:
So far, yea 400 minimum crs score translates to an Ontario EOI. however, due to glitches in the system some persons haven't gotten that even after scoring 400, they have been advised by the gurus here to delete their EE profile and re-enter and the invite came.

Oh!...okay bro. Thanks for your reply.

Does the invite come as soon as one enters the pool?

Or does it happen on specific dates like the normal EE invitation rounds?
Travel / Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by iceberg54: 3:30pm On Mar 03, 2016
vcole:
Hi. You can google the crs tool and use it to calculate an estimated maximum possible score for you and for your hubby to decide who would be best as a principal applicant. Express entry usually favours applicants 30yrs or less with a professional or master's degree and clb level 9 and above on ielts. so, when you use the tool, fill in "proposed" ielts scores and see if y'all can hit 400 minimum (as that would guarantee an invitation by Ontario to apply for their PNP and a possible 600 points if it's successful) whoever has the highest "possible" points should be the principal applicant.
I do not know any medic who has successfully immigrated to Canada via EE or FSW. it will be great if any here can share their experience.

Sorry vcole, i just got to know about ontario pnp...

Will ontario invite everyone that scores above 400 to apply for their PNP?

CIC will not approximate work experience. The requirement is 1 year of FULL TIME work experience.

You will need to get the letter from the IT company in order to qualify. You can get your former supervisor or someone from the company to write the letter for you.

Thanks.... i appreciate.

Also, will the NoC i apply with determine the kind of job i can get over there? @ JesusDWay and Zandora, your suggestions are welcomed. Thank you.
Travel / Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by iceberg54: 10:41am On Feb 24, 2016
Hello zandora, JesusDway and others, Great thread. Been following it keenly. I have done IELTS and my docs are now with WES, expecting their feedback so I can submit my EE profile.

I have an issue with my Work experience. For my desired NOC, I have a work experience (both full time and part time combined) of about 11.7 months. I was there initially on a part-time basis for some months, then I did 8 months of full time. I have calculated it carefully, and it’s not up to 12 full months. This NOC is desired because it is closely related to my BSc (Chemical Engineering) and MSc (Process Systems Engineering) and it would be extremely easy to obtain the required documents, I already have work reference and pay slips.

Do you think CIC will approximate to 12 months, or consider it insufficient?

Also, I figured out that the 1560 hours is 30 hours per week X 52 weeks. I worked for 37.5 hours per week and this would be well over 1560 for the whole period. Can this make me eligible, or is their calculation based strictly on months and not hours?

Alternatively, after my BSc I worked in an IT firm for 16 months which I can also use. However, it would be difficult to obtain documents from them, as they were not pleased with me leaving, and also they didn’t issue pay slips and also it would be another NOC. Do I have to stick to the NOC I applied with when I get to CA? Does it affect the employers that my profile gets exposed to in the job bank? This is because I would prefer to work as an Engineer and not an IT consultant.

Thanks a lot people. Expecting your comments. Please advice.

Job prospects are quite bleak at the moment as it is in other parts of Europe. Guys with strong IT and programming skills have the best opportunity of getting a job at the moment. The best bet for other guys like myself are through Master thesis positions at Companies (quite difficult to get too) and also multinationals such as Kone, Nokia, Kalmar, Metso, Neste, Vaisala, Wartsila, Microsoft etc. as they do not require working knowledge of the Finnish language. Igboro no dey smile o, even them Finns are not finding it easy. I am currently searching for summer jobs in the summer, I don apply to 10 companies and i think say i dey super proactive. I spoke with a Finnish classmate and he told me that he has applied to about 25 places, so you see say no be play play matter.

Boss, even those multinationals most times also require Finnish especially kone, Neste, Metso and Wartsila. When companies like Accenture dey require Finnish u go no say wahala dey. Even if the working language na English. Dem dey tell one naija guy say na english dem dey speak for work, but during lunch and coffee breaks, na Finnish, so the guy no go fit interact and dem no give am the job. If na me i go tell dem say, no worry i go dey bring my food from house, and i no dey drink coffee..... LoL cheesy.

Na only God go help person. Like u said IT guys seems to find it a little bit easier.

Enjoy bro!.....Cheers!

Thanks a lot bro.....Noted!!

EA Assessment is a walk through that you can get in 2-4 working days if your CDR and CPD are on point.

I'd advise you take a chill pill and face PTE first because that is the major determinant of your PR journey. Said this because 20 point from PTE would give you 65 points which simply guarantees you fast invitation when you submit your Eoi as there are many people with 60 point in the pool waiting for invitation. You should be able to bag 20 points considering your IELTS score...just prepare well and get familiar with the exam format.

So the steps are; PTE - EA Assessment - EOI

Cool.

I think there are only 2 feasible routes for obtaining extra points; re-take IELTS (or attempt PTE) and score higher OR state nomination points. The gurus in the house can advise further.

Thanks.

Thanks bosses Bellong and NNBB2012
But since my current score is 55, is it best to do assessment now, when i wont even be considered if i submit an EOI?

bellong:
Iceberg54,

The Speaking score has reduced your point to 10 in Language. Otherwise you would have scored 20.

Nevertheless, it is good enough for assessment. You need to do your assessment first before submitting EOI. Organise the documents you need for assessment with Engineer Australia. Express assessment is about $900.

@Richnet,

When you apply , do what I asked you the first time to do. You have enough time. You can get an extension of resumption from the school if need be.

You can actually apply for PR without the help of any agent, start by visiting engineersaustralia.org.au all the information you need is there, to assess your degree cert & you will have to write a well detail CDR (competency demonstration report).
As it stands now
Age = 30points, the moment you click 33 it will reduce to 25points.
IELTS = 0points.
Overseas recognize degree = 15points
Work experience (if you meet 3years by the assessing body = 5points
With these your points ain't enough for PR, register for IELTS & aim for at least 7 in each band which is 10points, if your point is up to 60 then you are good to go.

Bro, Good evening sir.

I am also a chemical engineer and interested in this. Age 29, Single, I have an Msc with 1 year experience, IELTS 8.5

I have visited engineersaustralia.org.au and gone through the process. Can I submit an EOI before the assessment or I have to do the assessment first? Pls what is my current point? And which sub class do u suggest, currently checking subclass 189. Still trying to understand how the nominations work.

Thanks

Hello house,

I sent my documents to Aalto University on the 2nd of December through Nipost. I received acknowledgement from the school on the 10th of December. However, a copy of my international passport and the notarized copy of my certificates were said to be missing and they were part of the packaged documents I sent through nipost. What do you advice I do as only 2 documents are required? Is it advisable to send again through Nipost cos they're cheaper? I sent all the documents earlier for N1,050

Its strange since it was among the previous package.

But no problem send another one through nipost. Good thing is it gets there on time and Aalto will always acknowledge immediately so there is still time for a back up plan.

Cheers sir!
