NYSC / Re: NYSC Exclusion Letter: Urgent Advise Needed by Icon2007: 12:55pm On Nov 28, 2020
Your cousin should not involve nysc in anything because NYSC will arrest her for forging their certificate. If her employer accept that she changed the fake one to the original she has fine but in some organization they will sack your cousin for presenting fake certificate. Your sister should not claim ignorance of the fact that she did not know she got fake one. I collected exclusion letter j had so many offer when I needed it most but I had to wait to get original from nysc website. my company no play with integrity. A friend of mine dt presented fake one was sacked.

Career / State Of My Mind !!! by Icon2007: 9:23pm On Jul 22, 2020
am really sad because of the attitude of youth and young adult of my generation.
So many things are happening which determine our future and that of our children in the future but none seems to move an average youth of this great country.
If half of the energy and passion we use in analyzing football matches, premier league and the rest is diverted to finding solution to the problem of this country .
I am pretty sure something positive would have been done.
Even if we can not go on implementing due to some bottlenecks We would know that we have the solution to salvage this country from wolfs and lions that are ready to tear it apart.
But what do I see my people my generation prefer rather to discuss big brother naija , football matches and celebrities life style.
The future of this country is very bleak and am afraid.
But it seems nobody see it that way.
The youth prefer to enjoy their time doing non essentials.
Some will say they are processing their papers to relocate abroad.
You prefer to go to America where you be treated as second or third human being, where your dignity will be trampled upon because of dollars.
You will then lie to yourself that you are living your American dream life when you are doing 4 or 6 jobs in
day to survive in the cold.
If people abroad tell you the truth story you will think twice before you move an inch.
So why not wake up to reality and reason out what need to be done to salvage this country.
We all have the right to ask questions here and demand answers
We have the right to challenge the status quo and demand for a radical change.
If you travel abroad you rather comply with the immigration rules you dare not challenge the status quo.
Please enough of turning your back.
The people in power are just are not up to 1 percentage of the entire population
Now the Yorubas in diaspora are calling for a break up of Nigeria.
Asking for Oduduwa republic
Now is the time to act !!!!!
This post is not against watching football or anything of such.

Travel / How Is Life Like For Nigerians Living In Canada? by Icon2007: 12:57pm On Jun 16, 2019
I know that this can not be the fate everybody that moved to Canada, but it is good if we can be hearing and reading about people real life experience like this so as to serve as a guide and also to prepare the mind of people intending to travel.

All I get to hear and read about Canada is positivity: stories like you get child support from government as an immigrant and that you can live like a king and all that.

Answered Jun 5

As the saying goes, it is NOT always greener at the other side. With all the noise about Canada being the best place to settle and all of that, I was a bit disappointed with what we found. As a family of 5, we were super excited at the prospect of a new beginning and a better life here in Canada. I along with my wife and 3kids decided to move to Canada after facing series of issues back home that was beyond our control. We arrived in the middle of Feb of 2018 which was about one of the coldest time of the year, we wobbled our way through the bitter cold feeling bless to be among the lucky few to have made it to Canada in the mist of millions of Nigerians harbouring such dreams. Within a month of our arrival in Toronto Canada, the harsh realities of life in Canada begins to dawn on us. The first thing that hit us was how expensive basic commodities are in comparison to the US. If you are on a minimum wage, there is no way you can afford a decent life or accommodation even if you and your wife are both working and unfortunately, those are the kinds of jobs that are readily available for new arrivals. Rent is astronomically high and even if you can afford it, you still have to pray that the landlord picks you from maybe 5 or 6 applicants that are equally vying for same house. In the last three months we have applied and inspected over 8 properties and the landlord would say to you, I will call you and they never will. So far we have been virtually living from hand to mouth, our basic salaries of $15 CAD per hour is not enough to see us through the month, we are still huddled up in our 1 bedroom basement apartment which is too small for us. Getting a 3 bedroom apartment is about $2,400 - $2,800 and based on our current salary combined we still cannot afford it. What this simply means is that Canada currently have a housing crisis than they are willing to admit and if you are a family on a minimum wage, Toronto definitely is not for you. Dont even get me started with issues like internet data and how expensive it is or Car insurance that goes up the roof once you are a first timer. Unlike Nigeria were you can receive calls for free once you have a SIM card, in Canada you must pay just to have the privileged of receiving calls. We are currently thinking of moving to smaller towns around Ontario were the rent is sparingly cheaper, but with no job or maybe move entirely to a new region like Alberta where it is colder. Anyhow you look at it, the situation is dire and a bit hostile to new immigrants.

It is more tougher for my kids who have not seen anything called rest of mind since we embark on immigrating to Canada. Since we started this journey it has been movement from one place to another and it is nearly 2yrs and still we have not settled. Many times I look back and regret why did i make this journey, but again, back home is not cozier either, especially with the horrible stories emanating from Nigeria just make you to reinforce your suffering and smiling spirit. Bottom line, life is not bed and roses here in Canada, everyday is a struggle. But what I hope is that if you get the hustle right, there will come Calm after the Storm.

kindly add your true life story!!!

Create a Gofundme account for her. I'm not sure any NGO offers free cancer treatments. The only ones I've come across are the free cervical and breast cancer screening. I may be wrong though.

All the best.
How does the gofundme stuff work? I work in a bank and we are not really allowed to be open as such to public to an extent of soliciting for money in the public but I really wish help comes her way. I can not single handedly finance her treatment'. Please tell me more about it anyway. Thanks

Guitarlife:

I will make this quick, I have seen people resign a millolion naira per month job and relocate to canada.

I know not less than 5 people earning more than 500k resign and relocate to Canada, you need to understand that its when you are broke money looks like the answer to all problems.

When you have money it dawns on you that money is not the answer to all problems.

I am not in anyway against people leaving their 500k or 1million naira job to relocate. The truth is that some resign due to pressure in their place of work. Especially Bankers that are marketers, once there is no more prospects and the pressure is mounting in some cases some of them will be sacked if they refused to resign and relocate. know the actual reason behind it.

Family / From Prosperity To Penury!!! by Icon2007: 1:04pm On Dec 23, 2018
From prosperity to penury
Oedipus Rex said" call no man happy until he is dead" in Yoruba pantheon "Alejo Lowo if its enter your hand take good care of it like gold"

Today I read a story of Ajala travel all over the world.
How he started life in prosperity at 18. How he had a fantastic dream of becoming a medical doctor in a far away land( United States of America). How that dream was aborted by loosing focus on his academics to follow after a nurse in the same college and got her pregnant. How he changed His direction, became a celebrity, and a showman.

How he married many wives but never take full responsibility on any of his children. How life smiles at him in his days but never prepared for His old age.
According to the writer Ajala was deported from america due to so many atrocities he committed he later moved to Nigeria. But because he did not plan for his future in any way. He moved to a rented apartment in Bariga Lagos where he spent the rest of his life in penury. Though he married many wives both home and abroad he died alone. He was a (gbajumo)
a showmanship. Ayinde barrister and Ebenezer obey waxed some records to sing his praises.
Ajala died in abject poverty in a rented apartment . he died of paralysis .
Morale of the story is that we should not waste any opportunity to make something out of the little we are earning. You will be surprised what people that earn far less than you has managed to achieve. Make hay while the sun shine .

Autos / About Tokunbo Cars From Cotonou ! Buyers Beware by Icon2007: 11:30am On Dec 08, 2018
The Ogun State Area command of the Nigeria Customs Service has seized 67 used vehicles popularly known as Tokunbo and 1,065 bags of foreign rice smuggled into the country through various illegal routes at the Idiroko border axis in November this year.

The Area Comptroller, Ogun State, Michael Agbara, disclosed this on Tuesday while briefing journalists about the activities of the command.

Agbara who said the command had stepped up its anti-smuggling activities given the Yuletide period, added that 119 kegs of vegetable oil, 171 pairs of used foot wears, 15 bales of secondhand clothing, 30 cartons of frozen poultry products, were equally seized within the period under review.

Agbara said the whole seizures had a duty payable value of N395, 118, 058.

He noted that the command was determined to stem smuggling, most especially the smuggling of foreign rice, in order to sustain the tempo of aiding Federal Government’s policy on agricultural development to boost local production of rice.

Agbara also revealed that between January and November this year, a total of 44,615 bags of foreign rice were seized, which he said more than double the seizure for the whole of 2017 which stood at 21,789 bags.

The Area Comptroller explained further that there were over 100 illegal routes (land and creeks), in the state through which the smugglers bring in contraband into the country.

He, however, warned smugglers to steer clear of the state, vowing that the command would continue hunt them to wherever they had their hideouts.

He said the command had taken delivery of additional four patrol vehicles to complement the existing ones.

He said, “The Comptroller -General of Customs has approved four brand new patrol vehicles to the command to complement the existing ones for effective manning of our borders against security, economic and environmental saboteurs.”

Agbara said the command had been liasing with traditional rulers and other stakeholders in the border communities to discourage their subjects from taking to smuggling.

He also advised those wishing to bring in used vehicles into the country to go through the sea ports and pay the requisite duty to the government, in order to prevent such vehicles from being seized.

He said, “If the smugglers succeed in bringing those cars in through the illegal land borders, the Customs will seizes them ultimately.
