TheSuperNerd: Haba Papa naa... But Moses Simon is still fine quality. Besides me never watch this Jonas David but the reviews look good so far but ofcos I will watch him for myself... Gi wa eh... Papa Chill ooo
TheSuperNerd: This kid (Jonas David), Nnamdi Oforburh, Kingsley Michael, Afeez Aremu and co will provide us very keen competition in that U-20 midfield I must say. Hopefully Aigbogun takes note.
TheSuperNerd: The main reason why Sincere Seth was not so impressive at the Rio Olympics is because he was played out of position. He played CB alongside Troost Ekong because we were short of quality CB options going to Rio. Siasia had to adapt and convert Seth into a CB.
At the U-23 Afcon, Seth was one of our best players when playing in his natural role as RB. And for crying out loud, he stands at 1.72m ,so how was he ever supposed to he imposing at CB? Lol...
Anyway, Seth just began his rise at Yeni Malatyaspor this ongoing season after joining them in 2017 and started off from their feeder team. Let his rise continue a bit more before he is invited. He is a fine prospect no doubt and could fit in nicely on the right for us. He has since developed and is showing very fine progress indeed.
In addition to the bolded, he was just 17 years old. The task was so much demanding for a player of his age, playing with the U23s as a CB.
You are right about his exploits at the CAF U23 where he played RB. He was one of the more impressive players in that team.
TheSuperNerd: Alex Iwobi on Unai Emery's Style and Training sessions:
"It’s exciting times to be fair.
"Everybody’s enjoying and buying into the new ideas. For me personally, I’m enjoying the new sessions, the new training methods and the new ideas, so I’m enjoying my time with him.
‘He demands a lot. He’s a lot more intense, a lot of high pressing and keeping the ball so that it benefits us if we have the ball. It’s good for us, especially the attackers who like to have the ball a lot. ‘It’s making me feel a bit sharper, I’m doing things with a bit more intensity. It’s not just for me, though, I feel like I’m helping the team a lot more. It’s benefitting me a lot more.
“Whenever something in the system changes, you have to prove yourself again. But wherever you go, you have to prove that you’re better than whoever else is on the team. At a team like Arsenal, that’s always going to be hard so I always have to be on it in training and matches.
“I’ve got to be different. It’s going to be hard because we’ve got so many attackers and so many world-class players, so I’ve just got to prove that I’m on that level or as good as them so that I can be ahead of them, which is my aim.”
gamaliel9: I just finished watching youtube clips of Yeni Malatyaspor s last two games, week 2. Sincere Seth played full minutes. He is a decent defender...he had one assist...he was bombing forward too. ..four of his cross were pin-point. He is good

charlesemeka85: in the central defence position the team needs more players to have a large pool to pick from and also add more competition to the position. balogun is 30 already so it will be ideal getting 1 or 2 younger cb as his replacement when he retires. also they are yet to voice out that they wish to stick with the german national team so we still have a chance getting any of them
Oga, there is no course for alarm in the CB position. Backing up Balogun and Ekong we have Omeruo and Awaziem. These two are tested defenders of which any can step into Balogun's position if he is injured. If any quality CB, that is willing to play for Nigeria, emerges we add him to the pool. Talking about Balogun's replacement when he retires, no worry also, nature has a way of providing replacements.
elyte89: I won't b surprise cin 95percent of those who represented us at d worldcup...and if u ask me,it's a good decision...we can't just ease out 40percent of d players like DT,it could unbalance d team,2 to 3 players change effect from d worldcup list is ok.den from dere d coach can start phasing out d ones not fit for us
Team building is a gradual process. A lot of people are expecting a psunami. Haha, disappointment awaits them.
Kog45: I think with the availability of Balogun, Ekong,Omeruo and Awaziem.
I don't see any reason for Uduokhai and Akpoguma who are not ready to play for us.
The FB like Dresser,Deji etc who really want to play for Nigeria should be considered.
Spot on. I am particular about those young strikers, this is the time we want to start seeing them. We didn't progress beyond the group stage in Russia because we didn't go with strikers. We need to start building a new attacking force from now.
TheSuperNerd: Ebere Eze (QPR), Semi Ajayi (Rotherham Utd) and Fikayo Tomori (Derby County) are all in action currently in the English Championship.
Joel Asoro is on the Swansea bench.
Meanwhile in the UCL final qualifying round (the Playoffs), Chuba Akpom starts from the bench for PAOK Salonika as they take on Ebuehi's SL Benfica. As you all know, Ebuehi is still out with a long term injury.
Ebere Eze and his QPR crashed 3-0 at home to Bristol City. They have lost all their 4 games for this season and are deeply rooted at the bottom of the Championship table.
TheSuperNerd: Samuel Kalu a lock for Super Eagles call up for Afcon qualifiers Colin Udoh, Football Editor, KweséESPN
Bordeaux forward Samuel Kalu is expected to be the leading new inclusion when Gernot Rohr names his Nigeria squad this week ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in September. Rohr told KweséESPN that the 20-year-old is very likely to be in the squad, which will be named this week ahead of the match on 8 September. "Kalu will probably be in the squad. I have been watching him and I saw him play again this week," Rohr said. Kalu, an explosive winger with pace to burn, joined the French side from Gent during the summer transfer window in an 8 million Euro deal, but has been on Rohr's radar for a while. "[But] I've never selected him," Rohr said last month. "I saw him play for his team. I took Moses Simon, who has been in my group for two years." With Victor Moses' retirement from the Super Eagles, the 20-year-old is now set to step into the breach. Also expected to be in with a chance of a call is the highly-rated former FK Ventspils forward Adeleke Akinyemi, who recently moved to IK Start. Galatasaray's Henry Onyekuru, who was a lock for the World Cup squad before an unfortunate ACL injury, is also expected to make a return. Nigeria travel to Seychelles for the second match of their qualifying campaign. The Super Eagles lost their match day one fixture 2-0 at home to South Africa.
ChrisKels: What must be, must be. There aint no guarantee he would av been better off in Arsenal. Joining Arsenal would have denied him that benefit of being within the corridor of first team football at this very young age of his, KC Nwakali is a case study.
It's just
Is KC Nwakali not better off where he is than Osimhen?
charlesemeka85: nff has nothing to do with the decline of some of our ex youth players who we had much hope on. the nff gave them the platform to showcase their talents by drafting them in the nations cadet teams and many seized the opportunity while many fumbled in the process.this issue is not peculiar to nigerian football alone but world wide
I know about this trend. In fact, I hammered on it a couple of years back here. And it was highly debated upon.
But you and I know some countries are achieving a better transition of players than others. I believe the NFF still has a role to play in the development of these players. There needs to be a kind of a level playing field between the NFF and these agents. But our big problem of corruption and greed will wear its ugly head. Mtcheeeew.
TheSuperNerd: The person playing the role of agent to Victor Osimhen is really doing that boy's career no good at all. Can you imagine this nonsense?! Such a beautiful talented player having his value going down by the minute. First it was Zulte Waregem rejecting Osimhen because of his Injury record. Now it is Club Brugge saying no to a deal for him because they could not reach an agreement with Wolfsburg on who foots the loan bills and other variables. And at Wolfsberg, his chances will be soooooooo limited. Wolfsburg acquired a Big Target Man in Wout Weghorst, a giant of a striker from AZ I think?
I hope Osimhen does not go to waste. Too much talent is in that kid waiting to explode. I hope his career heads in the right direction soonest because right now, his reputation is on a low as he has not been given enough chances to show his stuff. I still believe in the lad but I am afraid even my belief in his talents won't do him any good if he doesn't make the right move and soon enough too.
See what another observer said about Osimhen's situation...
From @biolakazeem:
"Victor Osimhen must have the worst agents in the history of football. To have such a young player on the books on Wolfsburg so devalued just by failing to control the narrative is tragic. That boy's reputation is in tatters. All a footballer sells is reputation. Nothing else."
Note: Josip Brekalo (remember him?) Is in the Wolfsburg team now. He is making good progress.
Brekalo starred against us at Chile 2015 U-17 WC and scored against us in that third group game in which we lost 2-1. Brekalo and Moro were the heroes that day for their displays. Osimhen also scored that day. Now, Brekalo is doing his thing at Wolfsburg while Osimhen still struggles for relevance no thanks to his previous injuries and low quality gametime.
I dont know the kind of hungry agents that we hand our players over to.
I hope that move to Wolfsburg does not end up being the step that destroys this boy's career. If Osimhen had gone to Arsenal then i am sure he would have gotten better development and exposure by now.
Egyptian Club Pyramid FC are now also interested in him. No be case of from "Grace to Grass" be this?
The NFF really has to play its part in ensuring our budding talents do not fall into the wrong agents' hands. We need to guard jealously the development of our special talents else they will just go the same way as their predecessors.
I saw Rabiu Ibrahim score an Okocha-like goal in that U20 Clip against Germany. And I was like "what really went wrong with Rabiu Ibrahim's development?"
The NFF really needs to develop a strategy fast on how best to secure quality development of some of these our young players. Else na the same old story we go dey get o.
Icon79: Nna, no vex o. I am just shocked with the folks at HITC Sports for some unforgiveable omission. I mean, they carry names like Yakubu Ayegbeni ahead of the legendary Segun Odegbami. Joseph Yobo ahead of Chairman Chukwu and even Taribo West. Yisa Shofoluwe nowhere on the list. Ben Iroha nowhere on the list. Yisa and Ben Iroha were two players ahead of their time. They revolutionized FB cum Wingback play in Nigeria. Even Sunday Eboigbe and Henry Nwosu ought to make Nigeria's all time best.
I think those folks were ignored or downgraded just because they didn't play in Europe, forgetting that that wasn't the norm during their time.
O pari
Tbaba1234 made a vital point that the fellow that made that list may actually be a young person. Besides, lack of well documented videos about the great old players may also have played a role.
I also expected to see '' chairman'' Christian Chukwu and Adokiye Amiesimaka on the list.
Abeg who has this man's twitter handle, IG or facebook account if at all he has any
Nigeria’s Minister for Sports, Solomon Dalung, has reacted to the intervention of the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo which saved Nigeria from being suspended by FIFA on Monday.
FIFA had threatened to suspend Nigeria from all her activities after the Amaju Pinnick-led executive board was prevented from carrying out its duties at the NFF.
However, the sanction was averted after Osinbajo, in a letter to the world football governing body, declared the government’s support for the Pinnick-led board.
But Dalung, in a press statement on Tuesday, has said the issue cannot be resolved with short-term measures, insisting that the matter has a subsisting judgement of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
“This crisis cannot be solved with a temporary measure or scratched on the surface. The intervention of the Vice President should not be viewed as different from an attempt to abate an escalating situation.
“As a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, who took oath of office to protect and defend the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I will prefer to stand with the Rule of Law instead of the opinion of men.

“We are a constitutional democracy and the doctrine of separation of powers is the foundation of democratic experience, therefore, the Rule of Law is the only mechanism that guarantees liberty and freedom of citizens.
“This administration was elected on the change mantra meaning that impunity has no accommodation anywhere, so Nigerians must learn to believe and practice the doctrine of the Rule of Law. I believe we shall overcome this if we remain within the confines and dictates of the laws of our country.
“As we celebrate Sallah, let’s remain law-abiding citizens,” Dalung said.
Icon79: Whomever drew up this list must be high on kia kia.
So Daniel Amokachie didn't make the list? Emmanuel Okala only made a reserve list? Listen, Victor Moses made it as wingback ... ahead of even the legendary Yisa Shofoluwe Ben Iroha didn't make the list? Henry Nwosu didn't make the list either? Joseph Yobo made it ahead of Taribo West or even Christian Chukwu??
Listen, there are so many things wrong with this selection. If we want to talk about Nigeria's greatest squad, then there should be only ONE criteria: their performances in the SUPER EAGLES team. Not performances in the EPL or any Euro, not in the performances in any age grade team but performances in the SUPER EAGLES. Hence, that criteria would knock out the likes of Kanu Nwankwo, Peter Rufia, and Celestine Babayaro from the list.
O pari
O pari master, cool down.
Any list you see is subjective. People use different criteria to draw these lists.
Draw your own 23 man list now and you will see some people also accuse you of being high on something.
BascoVanVeli: The stadiums are all owned by the government so how can you say no other club has their own stadium? Is Enyimba now a private club? You may be able to say no other private club has their own but I am not so sure about that sef.
Enyimba won 2 champions league trophies and have not come close since let's be honest.
As for producing players Akwa has provided no less than 8 players for 3 national teams in the past year and you don't see me running naked about it.
We dey talk of a club with pedigree you dey mention Akwa-United . You think say to win CAF Champions league back to back na beans? Plus Enyimba has been ever present in CAF Competitions whether as NPFL Champions or being among the top finishers. Which one Akwa United dey? You cannot compare the calibre of players Enyimba has produced over the years to your Akwa United players (where dem even dey now sef). Nobody stops you from running about naked . Every fan has a bragging right about his club. Please I chose to brag about Enyimba,if you dont want to brag about Akwa United allow me to brag about Enyimba in Peace.
tbaba1234: You can tell the relative youth of the writer.
Well, at least he was able to name a couple of the players of the 80s. I think lack of well documented match videos really had negative effects on the rating of players of the old.
