AIG07: The 2010 set was my first Female u-20 Tournament that I followed. That team had the likes of Esther Sunday, Oparanozie, Ebere Orji, Jonathan etc. They were beauty to watch...
We always go into the knock out stages in high spirit with like 10goals. But this one is so different.
I aam tipping the French girls. I have watched them play and they look almost like their male's team.
Na kick and Follow we de play for this tournament. Yeah. I also love the Assisat Oshoala, Courtney Dikeh, Fransceca Ordega, loveth Ayila and co's 2014 set. They were just smashing their opponents with goals. I hope this crop can improve from the next round. |

One open play goal in three matches.... So poor...
New comers Haiti performed better than our team in the group stage. I have been following the FIFA U19 now U20 Female WC since its Inception. This class is not at par with the previous ones. Well, I just hope they perform better from the Q/finals. |

As as professional player he should know better than hitting blows on your opponent for any reasons. He should just have fallen and raised his hands in protest. Then the yellow card would have gone through other way. |

TheSuperNerd: Here is the thread with you as the very last person to comment on it.... "Blast from the...."
https://www.nairaland.com/2315999/super-eagles-nigeria-thread-2017/160
It is very easily accessible through Google search. The internet never forgets. These threads are well documented and anyone that search "Super Eagles" or "Super Eagles thread(s)" can access them via a simple Google search.
I get your point though. Maintaining one thread sounds cool but the team evolves from tournament to tournament and period to period. We have had this discussion before in the previous super Eagles thread.
In truth, continuously modifying the title of this thread as each tournament comes year after year can be confusing to non-vocal members viewing as guests or from the ghostmode cave.
In conclusion shaa, I understand your angle... maybe then, for the sake of just continuing... "The Super Eagles thread" tag in the thread title will be "the only constant" in the title while the period or tournament in focus can change from time to time. I can say okay, for continuity sake provided that constant changes not.
And yeah Dad, my ventures are going just fine. Really been engaged but all is going well. It was easy for you to search out because you remember the title. Remember say some of us no get time to dey remember things like that o. Hahaha. |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Icon4s(m): 2:30pm On Aug 06, 2018 |
TheSuperNerd: Sir Terzurum5.... I can see that the title of the thread has been altered. Now it just reads "Afcon 2019".....
One question: After Afcon 2019 is done and dusted, will you again alter the thread title to Afcon 2021 or even Olympics 2020?
This thread was originally set out to cover all the events and stories and discussions surrounding our build up to Russia 2018 and Afcon 2019 so altering the thread name will only act to confuse folks the more. This thread is meant to end with Afcon 2019 no matter how big it has gotten just like how the previous thread ended with Afcon 2017 failed qualification. The threads we open are like Chronicles and archives of information that document our football stories and more and thus must be properly defined by specificity of threads created for a period.
And also, I wanna ask why you bowed to the pressure from Dad Icon4s to remove the phrase, "Dawn of a new era"... Or is it because we lost out in Russia??
Look, before the brightest Dawn is always the Dark nights... The darkness of the night is always thickest before the brightest Dawn... Our experience in Russia is a seed sown for this young team. I always said it was gonna be our BAPTISM of fire on the international stage. We have a team on the rise and more quality young talents are sprouting up in our football. Just take a look at Kalu's move for instance... You cannot deny the fact that a new dawn is coming. Even a goal.com article lists K.Nwakali as one of the young players of today's game to watch out for in Qatar 2022 (if we get there... But I know we will qualify). A new era is coming and Russia 2018 should not blind us to that fact... Maturity takes time and four years is more than enough. Afcon 2019 will show how much this team have truly grown post-Russia so please buckle up and get ready... A new era in Nigerian football is indeed close. Welcome back son! We missed you a great deal. Sure your ventures were very successful. On the change in nomenclature of the title , haha, Yes the New Era has dawned. We are in it already and so we have to move on and look forward to better days ahead. We cannot be carrying A new dawn tag till Qatar 2022. Russia did not dampen my spirit at all about this team. If for one thing, the team has even gotten stronger since after that Croatia defeat. Yes, we had a Super Eagles thread before this. But where is that thread today? I can't even find it. But if we have one Super Eagles thread and continue to modify the title with each upcoming tournament then it would be easy for us to have it as an archive, like a book, were we can easily turn back to a particular page and pick up a post or comment. I don't think terminating this thread at 2019 would be a good idea because this thread will also varnish like the last Super Eagles thread. With each successive U17, U20 and U23 classes we can create a thread. But we can have one well documented Super Eagles thread. Soldier come, Soldier go but barracks remain no be so? |

komekn: Do you think we can compete with Morocco for infrastructure.
It's not just about stadiums alone you must add security, socail responsibility, tourism, connectivity etc.
Cross the border from Ghana to Togo and Togo to Benin then compare that with Some border. Add to that compare the road all the way to Seme. Then enter our road from the border count the multiple checkpoints by every Tom, dick and Harry that's a public official.
Then tell me we are Truly Ready.
If AFCON is in Morocco I probably will drive from Manchester to Tangier - Marrakesh, etc without any problem or worries.
If we win to celebrate I'll drive from there to Lagos Bros I will like to see that vehicle you want to use for those road trips. No let me talk o.... |

wayodude: They should have demolished that stadium and rebuilt it. The pitch is far too small for that stadium to be considered as a match venue for any real game of football. Rather than demolition they should have built a completely new stadium on another location. You are right about the pitch. Too small. I have watched a couple of international matches there. |

Oasis007: This Stadium ain't Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, rather Adameisigba Stadium, the Home of 3SC. The Turf is artificial, not natural as some Folks are saying.
We ain't ready to host any International Competition especially AFCON 2019, except TBS turf is replaced with natural Grass and the Onikan Stadium is completed as scheduled.
Abuja Stadium only requires little touches. Uyo Stadium is ready same as Adokiye Stadium. Also I read it somewhere that Udom is building another massive, world standard Stadium in Akwa Ibom, Eket Town precisely - if it's true and can be completed by December - then we are good to go!
However, if the Eket Stadium ain't gonna be ready before December, then Sanni Abacha Stadium should come to the Rescue - turf only needs to be replaced. The standard is OK!
Akwa Ibom - 2 Stadia Portharcourt- 1 Stadium Lagos - 2 Stadia Abuja - 1 Stadium. The Eket stadium? Do you know when the project was kicked started and how far it has gone? My brother forget that stadium , it may not be ready even in two years. Besides do you know it's capacity? Sani Abacha stadium, Ahmadu Bello stadium, Nmamdi Azikiwe stadium, UJ Esuene stadium, Liberation stadium, Obafemi Awolowo, Tafawa Balewa stadium are all outdated and cannot just host a major tournament as the AFCON with the little touches as you guys describe. They need major over haulings and renovations to meet up with the current standards for the AFCON. And Onikan stadium, I have not seen the most recent pictures of it but if you know Onikan, Marina, very well you would know there is little you can do to expand that facility due to space constraints. You mentioned two stadiums in Lagos and I would presume the other is the Teslim Balogun stadium. What I can ask you is "have you visited the stadium lately?". Go see the extent of decay for your self. |

Nigeria as a country has no sustainable gdp for his very large population let alone Africa, so how is it a giant? I don't want to derail this thread by discussing more detailed economic indices here.
