Kog45: Pls go back and read my first comment you quoted may be you will understand better cos it should not be an offence to analyze the chances of Ezenwa,Uzoho, Ajiboye, Alampasu and included Akpeyi, these are keepers who have the opportunity of getting Rohr invitation more than two times and a good pundits would take the five into consideration when analysing the goalkeeping department.
I don't see any reason to exclude Akpeyi from my analysis and if you read deep he was the only one i gave least chances by saying "If he get another chance" so what do you expect me to say.Do you expect me to omit him when Rohr has not said Akpeyi is no longer needed.
On Ejide comparison, pls always read my comment deep,am not saying Akpeyi was better but you said something which baffled me "ESCOBAR TREATMENT" this forced me to point out Ejide howler against Scotland even went to extent of telling you of Godwin Odiye own goal in our last match against Tunisia in 1978 WC qualifier when we needed just a draw, also Aiyebeni historical missed against South Koreajust to tell you that Nigerians are not heartless when it comes to football.
Mind you i was one of the first monikers to raise our goalkeeping problem when a lot don't even see it as an issue,i remember teztrum,icon4s, Michael2, goldfish80 were so concern and i never rate Akpeyi and Ezenwa.
I saw Uzoho against Girona and i came to this thread to tell anybody who care to listen that the boy is better than Akpeyi and Ezenwa and the boy made me happy with his 45 minutes against Argentina.
Uzoho performance against Argentina raised my curiosity on Alampasu that definitely if given chance too may be he is better than Akpeyi and Ezenwa. It was on this thread i said Ajiboye i watched against Guinea is better than Ezenwa and Ajiboye Godwin Odiye's own goal was during the 1982 WC qualifiers and it was against Algeria For the last game of the 1978 WC qualifiers we were beaten clearly 3-1 by Tunisia and no own goal. |

Goke7: The issue with some of you is that you are trying to justify enyeama's recall on his past heroics [same with martins] This is the same error we did in 1998 as rufai was called due to his past heroics too [even Rashidi yekini]. Are you sure that Enyeama today is still the same Enyeama of 2014. That he has resumed action does not mean he is still as sharp as before.
I think we are exercising unnecessary fear going to the world cup as we always assume that we need to go with our very old legs before we can make impact. During the wcq series, we were so fearful about ezenwa, but did that stop us from qualifying against experienced teams like Cameroon and algeria? I remember when we played serbia in 2014 and keshi introduced a young babatunde, it was like what the hell? but the guy turned out to be a revelation for us in that match and with a superb assist to musa for his first goal against argentina before he was injured.
We are just entertaining fears anytime we qualify for the world cup and we suddenly remember players we were not thinking about before. I think going forward, it's better we don't participate in the world cup anymore cos what's the use of qualifying if you can't trust the current players you have especially the ones who did all the hard work of qualifying. What if all these old legs we want go to the world cup, mess up like it happened before, are we not going to blame the coach for being stupid to take along tired legs? We are behaving as if we had no keeper in our previous matches. Are we the only team suffering weakness in some departments going to the world cup? You can't have a 100% team and no team in the world does. Brazil has had reputations of not having the best of goalkeepers yet they have won the world cup 5 times. Please let's major more on our strengths and be cautious in our areas of weakness. Recalling players who have retired or close to retirement will not solve these weak areas or can Enyeama guaranteed a clean sheet against the argentines? Abeg o. Recalling players based on past heroics is a very big NO for me. In 2014, Enyema was breaking records of clean sheets in France but is it the same Enyeama of today? Sorry for my long post Who would you rather propose as first choice? |

Mujtahida: Enyeama is not a magician but I say that of all our players from the last three WC none, I repeat none has been outstanding as Enyeama. The WC has always been his stage. Did you watch Nig v Argentina in 2010 WC? Ohhh my goodness Enyeama thwarted waves after waves of attack from Messi and the attacking horde of the Argentines and if I recall he was given man of the match award. None of our players have ever been magical. None but they've done their best and we should honour them. I guess if five years from now someone says Mikel or Iheanacho were not magical it won't seat well with you. Enyeama is a very solid gk. He is not just solid but in the history of goalkeeping in Nigeria he is the best we've ever had. Ask Icon4s and Kog45 Enyeama is our all time best. The goalkeeping position is not one to be toiled with. It is not like an out field position where you have more room for experiments. This is the Senior World Cup where the best all over the world play against each other. A world cup goalkeeper especially if he is first choice must be one that has been tested and proven. A 45mins friendly game may be enough to have a conclusion on an out field player but not a Goal keeper. Even Ezenwa with all his heroics against Cameroon, Zambia and Algeria can be said not to be tested enough even though the only goals he conceded in all 4 games were penalties. His down side was that he showed lack of composure and positional abilities. You now place more confidence on a rookie that played only 45mins of which the Argentines only had 1 shot at goal. I have said it and I will still say it that, in the absence of Enyeama, I would rather make Ezenwa first choice rather than Uzoho. |

nelszx: You mean we should do a '98 in 2017 You guys should let this Enyeama rest even Dodomayana has warned us not to repeat same mistake we did with him in the name of experience. Enyeama needs a proper ceremonial game not to fight for shirt in the Eagles. Let's always learn from history, it has ways of repeating itself Two different scenarios. Rufai was on vacation and was invited just 3weeks to the WC. In Enyeama's case we still have a couple of games to assess and reintegrate him. in that 98 WC Baruwa was a total calamity and so Rufai's recall was inevitable more so as Ike was injured |

But he has enemies in high places and he doesn't want to come back to the team and perchance something goes wrong they'd lay it on him. If it's me sef I'll just stay away. You are right that Rohr needs him. We have read Rohr say so in the media na. Pinnick needs to call a state holders meeting ASAP and settle this in good enough time. Unfortunately our Red beret minister of Sports is not interested in football affairs, he also has a part to play. Nigeria is bigger than any single individual or individuals' interests. |

Mickael2: there are things we are missing here. First off, Rohr isn't a fool, he has heard what Peterside and the likes said but he still discusses Enyeama why? Second, Enyeama actually has issues with a lot of NFF guys, I am pretty sure Enyeama has not come out directly to say that he won't come back, it's all hear-say from? You guessed, the same NFF guys who he has problems with, while he has been keeping tabs with Rohr, the guy who he does not have a problem with and Rohr still is confident of getting him that's okay with me You have painted the true picture. 100%. We should not rule Enyeama out yet. How people will be comfortable having someone like Uzoho as a first choice goalie to the Senior WC keeps me wondering. |

Mujtahida: That's not a big issue na. We free the guy. Secretly in my heart I want us to give Uzoho a chance but at the same time I know how much experience counts in gk department. If you watched the first leg of Porto v Man United, you will notice Porto used one young boy. Clearly that lad is a good gk but he made errors which experienced gk will not make. Experienced gk make errors too but the margin for error is minimal. And the reason is simple: if you have done something for a long time you begin to operate instinctively. You've faced so many testy situations which young people have not faced. Where a young gk might rush out and cause a penalty, an experienced gk will know that it's best not to rush. Experienced matters a lot. I sometimes however oppose it when it is used as a bar against testing or giving young people opportunity to also learn and gather experience. They will tell you experience didn't help Akpeyi so it doesn't count. |

May I ask you which club is enyeama playing before he man the SE post in 2002?
Uzoho was trained in aspire academy one of the best in Europe and immediately find himself in depotivo team b.. Keeping regularly every weekend ...its not a joke!
How many nigeria goalkeeper playing in top clubs in Europe ?
How many nigeria goalkeeper currently playing regularly not bench warmer for team B in Europe? First off, for the umpteenth time Enyeama was 3rd choice goalie at the 2002 WC. He was not in goal for the first two games Ike Shoronmu was. Enyeama only kept in the dead rubber game against England. There was nothing at stake. You don't gamble with an inexperienced goalie at the World cup. For God's sakes! Any of the young goalies can be in the team but not first choice. As for where Enyeama was then. He was the first choice Goalie for Enyimba FC, then Back to back NPL champions. He was in goal for Enyimba during there 2001/2002 CAF champions league campaign. As at that 2002 WC he was also part of the Enyimba CAF champions league team. He had a couple of good international exposure by virtue of that. As a 21years old, he had kept in highly competitive continental encounters. Most of those games are far more competitive than those academy stuffs you talking about. |

Mujtahida: Team chemistry is something that should be jealously protected and last week we had cause to discuss it with the overwhelming emphasis being that it should not be sacrificed for any player. However we are beginning to set it up as tool to dissuade discussion about certain players. None of us is in camp with them so we cannot make authoritative statements about this or that person coming to spoil the team spirit. Like you have pointed out all those guys played with Enyeama and Rohr has said Enyeama's return will be on his(Rohr's) terms and not Enyeama's. Thank you . I just tire. Do they know what we are going to face at the World cup? If team chemistry is the issue, then Enyeama is even better placed than Uzoho, Alampasu and Okoye.

It only takes convincing to make him rescind the decision. But if he still insists he will not be part of the team then we move on.
Talking about being sharp. You saw the weekend review posted earlier on this thread. All though that does not mean he may have fully regained his sharpness. But that is a good start to his recovery. We have a couple of friendlies in March to also assess his level of sharpness.
Rohr says if Enyeama starts playing again then he can include him in his plans. Yes Enyeama had issues with Oliseh but this is Rohr in charge now.
As I have said before we make attempt to extend the olive branch to him. And if he turns it down then we move on.
Enyeama cannot be giving out good performances at Lille and we are having a goalkeeper crisis and we look away. Let us all put pride and vengeance aside, Nigeria is bigger than every individual, even the president. |

Ikeme is no where near Enyeama at his prime. Nigerians, we forget too soon. safarigirl: abeg o, Enyeama is nobody's father figure.... A father that abandoned his children when they needed him the most because he had disagreement with officials? That is a deadbeat dad, irresponsible father. Currently, Mikel is the father who stepped in when the deadbeat dad jumped ship, so let us not give Enyeama an unmerited position
Enyeama's position now is like that father that abandons his kids during rough times and then another nan steps in (Mikel) to take care of them and once the kids have reached a respectable status in society, the deadbeat dad wants to leech off of them just because he provided sp3rm.
Let us not give anyone unmerited position because we want them back. Enyeama is a betrayer of trust, because of his ego he betrayed the trust of players who looked up to him and now we want to forget that because we have refused to trust the current guys there?

He is just as error prone as any other goalie we have, but his own error is that he is too short to see a corner kick and it is not hard for opponents to score from that angle

You're surely the type of dude that easily gets emotionally attached to a woman and keep begging and licking her ass even if she clearly doesn't want you. If the issue of captaincy is your priority in this matter, then sorry, you have a misplaced priority. The Enyeama that I know will even prefer not to contest any captaincy band with anybody. BTW,his inclusion or not won't determine aw far we would go in d tournament... MY opinion # There is a lot of difference between begging and convincing. Nobody is gonna beg anybody. Which Team chemistry are we talking about here? Which stands a higher risk of distorting team chemistry? Return of a veteran goalie that played with all 4 of the current regular defenders or introduction of a Rookie goalie? Forget about issue of bonding. Enyeama is a father figure in that team. Just like what Ike Shoronmu was to the 2002 WC team. We need an experienced goalie in that fold abeg. On your last paragraph, then in that case why worry about Akpeyi? Since, from that statement, it doesn't matter who is in goal. Do you know how many life saving saves Enyeama made for us in our last 2 World cups? When clamoring for Uzoho, Alampasu and Okoye you didn't think of Chemistry. The goalkeeping department for the World cup is for EXPERIENCED Goalies. Even Akpeyi and Ezenwa don't have that kind of Experience. This is not like the case of Peter Rufai that was on vacation and was callrd up less than 3weeks to the WC.
