TheGoodJoe: Why give Ovie a lower rating because of his sideways passing? Most times, keeping possession is important in the midfield game and extravagant play should be avoided. Did not have time to watch but I do not think sideways passing is a good reason to reduce someone's rating. You just spoke my my mind. Such players are useful as holding midfielders. |

Italy came from 1 goal down and 1 man down to beat Zambia 3-2.
Since after eliminating France and now Zambia even with 1man down from the 43rd mins, they have become strong favorites. |

OMANBALA1: Orji,Osimhen and Nwakali time will come. Super Eagles is over crowded now. They have to work very hard to earn the place. Most of those players making waves in that SE team are U21 so they all fall into the same age grade. |

forgiveness: First of all, we never knew Etebor and Iwobi could play dat position until they were given the chance to prove themselves despite the fact that they were nobodies before they played for the national team.
Ironically, Abdul Ajagun who was already an established player with Panathinaikos, and was very much influential to them lifting the Greek version of FA cup, helped them to place 2nd twice in the league, and played in both the Europa and Champions league qualifiers was mischievously, deliberately and unjustly overlooked for an academy player and a NFL player.
Now, you are asking who is better.
I will say give him also the chance to prove himself but until them, i go dey talk.
However, Abdul is better than Eteboh.
He is better than Iheancho, Iwobi, Aluko and Etebor when it comes to playing more than 5 roles effectively.
Abdul can do better. Next. Chineke me e.... I commented my reserved. |

Mujtahida: Cc goldfish80: did you see the word jittery?
Sorry, I would have loved to bring out a raft of post depicting Akpeyi as one who does not inspire confidence as such but my browser is malfunctioning. Does that change the fact that he is the best of the 3 in camp. I don't understand you guys. Who then should mount our goal? Ezenwa or Alampasu? Or do we field the injured Ikeme? |

komekn: Nigeria is not England and yes England on occasion calls players from the championship to the 3 Lions.
However, the comparison lacks merit Aluko was in the premiership when he was called to play for Nigeria. Played 7 games and two goals.
Players can choose the championship over the EPL if they feel it would give them more options and progression. For instance Gayle left Crystal palace for Newcastle so also did Ritchie.
Fulham narrowly missed promotion to the EPL otherwise Aluko would be in the premiership now.
There are some things that are open secrets but not public media exposed for fear of litigation. But I think most people in this forum or at least those in the know understand what happened.
One problem English orientated Nigerian players have is a lack of understanding of the settlement mentality and gratuity expectation that has always pervaded the national team camp. These simply do not understand that and would probably say no unceremoniously much to the displeasure of our shameless NFF officials. @ your last paragraph. So Iwobi and Moses have been settling and paying gratuity to officials. |

goldfish80: Against Algeria, he was pretty solid. He made some fine saves which is expected of any good goal keeper and he managed to command his penalty area and distributed the ball well . This set the tone for the team and helped us dominate the possession and the game for a long period.
Against Egypt in Alexandria, he was quite solid. The goal the Egyptians scored was not his fault as the ball went through the legs to Efe Ambrose which caused a deflection. Sorry, I don't seem to understand this panic attack you're spreading about his game. That is what I said before that if you don't like someone you will not see anything good in the person. They want Alampasu not even Ezenwa to mount goal against SA. Ha na wa. |

Kog45: pls lets talk football and stop personalise issue. It's simple as a ABC for a good coach and good pundits to pick Akpeyi ahead of others in camp.Injury free Akpeyi w keep against South Africa nothing to argue. On this thread? They can even argue say Rohr will not sit on the bench as Super Eagles coach against SA. Things that are even very obvious they argue. |

goldfish80: Exactly. You recall perfectly. I frankly didn't rate Balogun in his early days playing for the super eagles. I recall the game in Kaduna against Egypt, he played at Rb, looked uncomfortable all afternoon.
In the friendly against SA, Akpeyi had a blinder. So good on the night he caught a penalty. I recall the the press heralded him as the heir apparent to Enyeama after the fine evening outting. How suddenly, people are panicking when his name is mentioned shows how fickle minded football fans are. You know when you naturally do not like someone no matter what that person does you will never appreciate it. That is how I see it. They want their own choice as goal keeper. |

Mickael2: wasn't it the game we won 2-0? Balogun did not play the match and it was....Anthony Ujah or someone like that with a brace. I think it was Uche Nwofor, not so sure Austin Ejide was in goal for that Mandela challenge friendly and Uche Nwofor got the brace. The game was played in 2013. Balogun was not in the team yet. But the one Goldfish80 is referring to was played I think in 2014, after the WC. Daniel Akpeyi had his debut and Balogun played RB. His poor judgement of the ball on the touch line cost us the late equalizer. |

goldfish80: Funny enough, Akpeyi made his super Eagles debut against the same South Africans in the Mandela challenge friendly. He was the man of the match on the night. He even caught a penalty in the game. Bafana fans should continue Laughing, we will know who will laugh last. It was not the Nelson Mandela Challenge. It was just a friendly. That game finished 1-1. Ahmed Musa put Nigeria ahead with about 10mins left. While they equalised late into injury time. Leon Balogun was the culprit. |

I should close eyes like say I dey North Korea ba?
I have the right to express my thought and question anyone holding any public position. Recall I have advised you before about this allegations thing. All these shouts of Arrangee and Nepotism shouts I am one of the first persons here who criticised the invitation of Osimhen. That same day I was also against Musa Mohammed being played as our main RB. Mohammed is out now but Osimhen is still in the team. The only sellable reason IMO is that he is a player for the future. But just calm it and let's see how Rohr's plans for the boy turns out. If it turns out well is it not for the benefit of Nigerian football? |
