The Super Eagles of Nigeria defeated their counterparts from Togo in a friendly game played in France yesterday to help both teams prepare for their upcoming AFCON 2019 Qualifiers.

Ratings
Ikechukwu Ezenwa – Truly was on holiday for most of the 70 minutes he spent oxn the pitch. Although impressed with his constant barking out of instructions to his defenders which helped in keeping them on their toes….. 6/10
Shehu Abdullahi – Solid display from the right back position. Won his tackles neatly and also used the ball to good effect, was quick in joining the attack when he had to. Justified his starting spot….. 7/10
Elderson Echiejile – Senior man like most of his young teammates call him kept it simple at the back, wasn’t caught out of position, held his line brilliantly and his forays upfront helped dragged the Togolese defenders out of position which profited the forwards of the team…..7/10
Chidozie Awaziem – Strong in tackles, loves to play with the ball at his feet and very dominant in aerial duels. Had a game to remember alongside William Troost-Ekong in central defence. No doubt the FC Porto man has a bright future in the team if he maintains or improve on his current rate of progression….. 7.5/10
William Troost– Ekong – Plays with an unusual show of authority, big, strong and commanding. He has grown into one of the leaders of this team, and once again his partnership with Awaziem protected Ezenwa who had little to do due to their hardwork….. 7.5/10
Wilfred Ndidi – Simply unplayable, he was very dominant for Nigeria in the middle. Linked up well with the likes of Alex Iwobi and Oghenekaro Etebo in the middle with him. A future Super Eagles captain…..8/10
Mikel Agu – The FC Porto man appears to have won the heart of coach Gernot Rohr, he was quick in spotting danger and sniffing it out. Won his own fair share of tackles and barring any late minute change of mind could start against South Africa on the strength of his showing in training, and in the games against Corsica and Togo….. 8/10
Oghenekaro Etebo – Unselfishly set up Kelechi Iheanacho for Nigeria’s third goal. Guilty of losing possession early into the game but grew as the games progressed. Very lively for the time he was on and came close to scoring twice….. 7.5/10
Alex Iwobi – Man of the Match. Has way too much class for the Togolese defenders. Operating from the left he set up Ahmed Musa for his both goals and showed some nice pair of heels to get pass his markers with ease. His neat range of passes left the defenders of Togo in their wake….. 9/10
Ahmed Musa – Had another lively performance just like the Corsica game and capped it up with a brace. Took his goals with the calmness of a veteran forward. Surprisingly doesn’t looked match rusty despite his lack of game time at Leicester City during the just concluded football season in England.
Kelechi Iheanacho – Seven goals in ten games for Nigeria says it all. Twice brought out saves from the Togolese goalkeeper before tapping the ball into am empty net for what might be one of his easiest goals in the Nigerian shirt. Took up goal scoring positions and dragged the Togolese defenders out of position with his non stop diagonal runs across the backline of Togo….. 8.5/10.
Substitutes:
Dele Alampasu – Just like Ezenwa had nothing to do for the 20 minutes he was on the pitch. Will be glad his debut ended with a clean sheet for Nigeria…..5/10
Tyronne Ebuehi – Lost his starting spot to Shehu Abdullahi but still showed his qualities when he was introduced. Very attack minded and his willingness to get on the ball most times speaks volume of his abilities as a modern day full back….. 5.5/10
Victor Osimhen – Had to shake off the ball and very confident even in tight areas. Came on when Nigeria have taken their foot of the gas, but still did enough to make his presence noticed….. 6/10
Sikiru Olatubosun – Didn’t touch the ball enough to warrant a rating…..
Olarewaju Kayode – Showed his quick pair of heels and abilities to get past his markers. Loves to defend as well, and always looking to play forward passes to help maintain the team momentum going forward….. 6/10
Henry Onyekuru – Got involved when he came on but didn’t get into goal scoring positions unlike the previous game against Corsica. Still showed glimpses of his potentials with good link up play and neat passes…… 5/10
Alhassan Ibrahim – Mu’azam didn’t really influenced the game like he did against Corsica as he lasted just five minutes on the pitch. Not enough to earn a rating…..

safarigirl: I like how you refrained from quoting my first reply to your moot point.
Our ranking is not your problem, stop shouting upandan as if the rest of us are unaware of the obvious fact.
It is clear that the only reason you are exhibiting this level of bad belle is because the Kelechi you called a bench warmer, incapable of starting a game, put you to shame. And that is how he will continue putting you to shame until you run out of excuses to give.
Do you know you could have passed the message that this game would not be counted by FIFA WITHOUT adding that Kelechi and Musa's goals would not be counted as well? Rather than do that, you made your bias obvious by glaringly pointing out that fact, so you ended up sounding like a pained person, looking for a balm to sooth his pain.
So, congratulations sir, you played yourself Who dey talk this one? The only goal that will not count is the one scored during 'drills'. |

We saw him in the Egypt double header, we saw him at Rio, we saw him at 2015 CHAN. We saw him replace Omeruo at RB against Algeria. We have not yet secured Ola Aina and Ebuehi seems not to be ready for the task so I think Shehu is the man for the RB job for now. |

Congrats to Zambia though... they have surpassed your expectations Remember you said you will be shocked if they make the quarters... Yes. They surpassed my expectations. They have never gotten to this stage at U20. The only other time any Zambian team got to the quarter finals of any world tourney was the 1988 Olympics. I recall that team beat Italy 4-0 in their last group game to qualify. That team had some fantastic players like Kalusha Bwalya, Chikabala, Chabala(goalie). A good number died in that Plane Crash. |

komekn: Football never remains static we should treat South Africa with respect and caution. Over confidence doesn't win games extensive and intensive preparation does. That does not mean we should lose confidence in our players' abilities. We will miss Victor Moses. Yes. But we equally have other players who are capable of doing the job. That is my point. If you read my earlier discussions with Icon79 you'll know I have already warned against complacency in that game. |

Orkpekyandega: ‘CSL Eagles still part of Rohr’s plans’ By Gbolahan Dada-May 31, 2017
The Nigeria Football Federation has assured players based in China they are still part of future plans. That is despite none being included in coach Gernot Rohr’s squad to face South Africa in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on 10 Junein Uyo.
China-based strikers Odion Ighalo and Brown Ideye both miss out while captain John Mikel Obi is injured.
“The season in China is still ongoing and it will be an hectic journey,” team spokesman Toyin Ibitoye told BBC Sport.
“Coach Rohr has decided to keep faith with the strikers he’s been working with in France for almost ten days now but those players in China are still part of the squad.”
Also missing is Victor Moses, fresh from helping Chelsea win the English Premier League title, with reports that he is injured although no official reason has been given. “Moses has been excused by the coach,” Ibitoye explained.
Watford striker Isaac Success has been left out, while injury has ruled out Germany-based duo of Leon Balogun and Noah Serenren-Bazee.
In-form strikers Olanrewaju Kayode and Henry Onyekuru have been handed a chance to make their competitive debuts for Nigeria.
Onyekuru’s 22 goals in the Belgian top flight has lead to him being linked with a move to English club Arsenal.
While Kayode finished as top scorer in the Austrian league with 17 goals for Austria Vienna.
Three-time African champions Nigeria have failed to qualify for the last two editions of the tournament in 2015 and 2017.
www.thepointng.com/csl-eagles-still-part-of-rohrs-plans/ Rohr is such a very smart coach. He has tactfully sidelined Ighalo and Ideye while at the same time been preparing their replacements. He is using 'keeping faith with strikers in France camp ' now. Next time he would use a phrase like 'you don't change a winning team'. He has tactfully kept Ideye and Ighalo as standbys just in case the young ones fail to impress. Unlike previous coaches who will just dump some players and make some harsh comments about them. Why would I not like this man? |

Lazyerudite: I think we have a problem with scoring. This must be addressed soonest as goals will count against Cameroon. Let Rohr field the most clinical striker and hope the midfield will do their best Is it because our last 2 friendlies ended in 1-1? Who helped us score when we beat Algeria and Zambia 3-1 and 2-1 respectively? Anyways your last sentence is noted. |

tbaba1234: Fashion Sakala, member of the Zambia's under 20 team with his wife.. He has been married for 3 years... no comment
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/C6Es_k_WAAAvoHa.jpg I noticed that those Zambian players look very matured. Age cheating does not pay. They should come and ask their West African brothers. |

TheSuperNerd: No Victor Moses, No Mikel Obi, No Leon Balogun, No Carl Ikeme.... The four super pillars will be missing in action....
Yet we present a team so dangerous despite her youth.
But yeah... I understand why they should celebrate shaa.... with Victor moses out, they have at least one less headache to worry about.... loooollll They shouldn't celebrate yet because little known Oghenekaro Etebo and Moses Simon can equally do the damage. Isaac Success is another. |

Chrismario: Want it reach even earlier?? Find Argument dat Wil contradict d views of dgudjoe, supanerd and forgiveness @ once.
Oga gud joe go Dae quote each mention 5 times Arguments like: Iheanacho Vs Solanke, Aluko Vs Iwobi, Echiejile Vs Oshaniwa Match day Vs Drills Game time Vs Bench warming And if you want to cause Hector vs Hercules fight here you ask Michael2 to as usual throw jabs at Mikel And Onazi. Safarigirl go turn Hercules bc of Mikel, flanked By TheGoodJoe and TheSuperNerd. Talk something negative about Abdul Ajagun, Dominic Solanke and Raheem Lawal and you will beg someone here for forgiveness. Try discrediting the English academies and their Nigerian products and the TeamAnglo-naija will come at you. Say something negative about Stephen Odey and Sikiru Olatubosun and the TeamNPFL will come for your head. Talk about The Green eagles of the 1980s and the elders go collect the microphone. Icon79: Icons, we'll definitely be at the AFCON. And trust me, we'll beat South Africa on the 10th even if we're to play them with our C-team.
O pari Recall Guinea stopped us from 2011 and this same SA and Congo PR(Brazaville) stopped us from 2015. We need to be at our best against SA in Uyo. Remember also that head to head rule counts. We don't just need a win but a resounding win. |

Icon79: I would be worried if we're playing Cameroun, but not South Africa. South Africa ... they are our wives. And we're not ready for a divorce yet
Now against Cameroun, all hands must be on deck. I don't injuries or any excuses at all. So you guys better send a message to the likes of Ikeme and Balogun.
O pari We cannot afford to miss the next AFCON. All hands must be on deck in this game too. We are playing our toughest opponents just like the Egypt tie of the last time. It is a must win game. |
