I asked this question because Dominic Iorfa is one of those who played professional football outside the country. If I am not mistaken or have not forgotten, I overhead someone saying he is the first Super Eagles player to open the door for others outside the country. I had always believed it is Stephen Keshi though.

CC; Icon4s, Komekn, etc
Teslim Balogun was our first recognized player to play over seas. I still know of one George Chiedozie that was playing in England in the early 80s. I think I saw him play.

Keshi I think was among the first of the modern era. Samuel Okwaraji was also a foreign player as at 1988. Etim Esin too as at 1987.

Besides, I have never met one reasonable Ngwa person and I have met more than enough. Only Ngwa people have nice things to say about Ngwa people

History remembers Arochukwu as renowned slave traders and the most formidable opponents the British encountered in the East, nothing much on Ngwa people aside cannibalism.

Now that you know, I suppose we can return to the football.
I am one.

Anything wrong with being an Ngwan? Gini ka chukwu juru? Early isiala Ngwan's were cannibals, so also were other places round Africa, South Emerica, Asia etc. Ngwa has moved on. I did my NYSC in a community in Annang where Enyeama is from. Enyeama is from Etim-Ekpo while I served at Ukanafun that shares boundary with Etim -Ekpo. They are very close relatives of the Igbos. There are even some Igbo speaking parts of Akwa-Ibom carved out of the then IMO state to join Akwa-Ibom. I have visited the place and interacted with them. They bare Igbo names and speak the Igbo language although with Annang the accent

Well thing is.... We must be realistic for this game naa... Ebuehi can't start this game for obvious reasons.

But with time, he may yet claim that right back slot... so don't rule him out just yet.

But he would have Ola Aina (versatile for the left back role too) for company shaa as time goes on plus Versatile Shehu Abdullahi and probably Musa Mohammed too (if he keeps up his fight for relevance at club level).

It is just sad Moses Odubajo has a vow with injury woes almost every time. That lad, Odubajo, is my pick but injury has been merciless with him. Hope he bounces back "fully" soon enough.... he is still young and still has much to offer.
You Sure know what I am talking about.

IMO Ola Aina, when we secure him, is even ahead of Ebuehi. The way this boy was hyped here? As if he would easily walk into that defense. No harm in inviting a new player who shows promises but we should not always be too in a haste to throw away the already existing players. Just like some already in a haste to throw away Omeruo because of Awaziem and Onazi because of Mikel Agu even without the proposed new players showing enough to warrant the replacements.

I don't know why you're looking for Tyronne's name, as if you won't condemn his inclusion as you have Awaziem's.

The less players we have to argue about, the better. This is sha not the game to start him, he can come on as a sub if necessary. Seychelles will be there for him later
I cannot stop anyone from naming any player but you must be ready to justify his inclusion. No sentiments.

OMANBALA1:
My preferred line up are...
Akpeyi
Omeruo
Ekong
Awaziem
Echiejile
Ogu
Ogenyi
Ndidi
Etebo
Iheanacho
I know its defence minded but I need Ogu to start that game.
Substitutes...
Musa for Onazi at 70 minutes.
Onyekuru for Iwobi at 70 minutes.
Kayode for Iheanacho at 80 minutes.
A good line up.

But as a coach you base your substitutions on the way the game is going and also how you want to finish the game . For eg we cannot be looking for a goal and you remove Iheanacho for Kayode. And we may be leading and need to see off the game and you remove Onazi and bring in Musa?

Plus also, any player may lose steam or get injured and that will also necessitate a substitution.

BTW how come no one has mentioned Tyrone Ebuehi on his starting line up?

The way that boy was hyped here it was as though they were already reserving that RB position for him.

Stuart Baxter seems to have done his home work on the Super Eagles. The last 3 games apart from the match against Togo, the Super Eagles have had a slow start in the first half, especially in the first 20 minutes.
Obviously the South Africans might want to take advantage of this. It is a logical game plan. Hopefully, Rohr and his crew will work out a strategy to counter this.
Which home work? Na you give am the homework?

The game against Senegal was our first after Algeria in November but meanwhile Senegal just can back from the AFCON and were still hot from the competition.
Even I predicted a though first 20mins for Nigeria.

The Corsica game too, the players were just coming back together after a long season Plus we had so many debutants in that game that it took some time for the Chemistry to start building.

The game against Togo was a manifestation of what early camping can do. Just look at the early goals. And some of our key players were not even in that Togo game.

The SA coach should get scared that our team is building up momentum. They can even find themselves 3-0 down within that first 20mins he said he will silence the crowd.

I told someone recently that SA are just too unfortunate that our game against them is being played at the end of the season and hence we have had enough time to prepare for them. Unlike our previous qualifiers that were played during FIFA free windows where the players barely have 3-4 days to prepare.

I read that article about the SA player saying Nigeria have players in the big leagues but their team work will help them. It simply shows they are seeing our team as same as it was 2-3 years ago. They think we don't have a team just a bunch of talented players.

I am seeing a wide margin win for Nigeria against SA on Saturday.

wow how time flies you mean it's one year already since his passing on? my fondest memories of keshi as a player was the game against senegal in the 1992 afcon tournament. his earlier mistake had allowed the senegalese to equalize but he made up for it by scoring the winner minutes later and what a cracker it was. not also forgetting his tearful celebration in that cold algerian night after we qualified for the first time for the world cup. as a coach i will forever appreciate him for bringing back pride and respect to the national team by guiding us to that unexpected 2013 afcon win. continue to sleep well BIG BOSS!
Yes o my brother.

That Senegal 92 opener has my fondest memory of Keshi as a player.

That winner was a goal created by Keshi and scored by Keshi. For a defender to single handedly make his way pass the midfield and tore apart the defense and then releasing a thunderous shot. All just to redeem his image after letting Senegal equalise from I think Bukande.

I still remember the expression on his face as he celebrated that goal.

That jersey in the first pix I posted was what they wore in that tourney.

Then of course as a coach his team's heroics at the 2013 AFCON.

He is one of the greatest footballers and coaches that have emerged from Nigeria.

A Zimbabwean man with gambling addiction, who went to the extremes of betting his wife over the recently played Real Madrid, Juventus match has been fined two beasts.

ZimNews.net reports that Charles Jambaya (26) from Mkandapi village did the unthinkable on the 3rd of June when he pledged his wife Caroline Shumba (22) to another man over the Juventus, real Madrid match.

Jambaya had a verbal agreement with Eugene Gumbo (30) that if Real Madrid would beat Juventus in the UEFA Champion’s League final he would give him his wife, while the later told the former that if Juventus triumphed he would give him $500.

As fate would have it, Real Madrid trounced Juventus by four goals to one and all hell broke loose when Eugene demanded his prize after the match.

Jambaya told his bet mate to go and collect Caroline at his house.

Eugene went to Jambaya’s house and told Caroline that he had won her at the bottle store bet.

Puzzled and perplexed by the story, Caroline ran away and sought refuge at her aunt’s house.

Caroline told her aunt what had transpired and the matter was referred to Chief Mazivisa’s traditional court.

Appearing before Chief Mazivisa’s traditional court yesterday, Jambaya and Eugene told the court that they were not in their pure state of mind since they were drunk.

“Ishe nedare riri pano hongu makunana aya akaitika asi isu tanga takadhakwa, takanga tisiri mumindangariro yedu yakakwana zvomene”

Translated means : "The chief and all the elders here present, the taboo took place but we were drunk hence we were not in our pure state of mind, explained Jambaya and Eugene in rapid succession.

Passing his judgement after a brief consultation with his elders, Chief Mazivisa fined Jambaya and Eugene one beast each for contravening the tenets of the Unhu or Ubuntu philosophy that dictates that a person cannot be sold, neither can anyone place a human being as a bet.

The chief also admonished villagers to desist from betting as this would result in illogical decisions.

Translated :::

In my Kingdom I do not encourage betting, betting has caused many deaths, also the youth should desist from smoking marijuana and drinking spirits since these are the major cause of problems in many families.

I just dey one side dey watch una debate this Osimhen case.

I think I was one of the earliest persons that raised eyebrows since last year about this Rohr's romance with Osimhen. Of which he has never made match day squads. Meaning he is making little or no impact in the team. Just drills. I don't have any issues with that.

However, from the angle of Rohr preparing him for the future, I'll say ok na we are watching. But he should also not that other teen strikers are coming up like Tammy Abraham and Orji Okonkwo and they also deserve a look-in too. Something like a rotation will do.

The forward position is a major place I tolerate rookies. So if Rohr reserves a slot for a 3rd striker who will be a highly rated teen I think it's a good development. After-all qualifier games are typically played with two CF options.
