Watford Target Onyedinma Preparing To Bid Farewell To Millwall After Eight Years

https://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/football_pics/10310Onyedinma.png

Millwall wonderkid Fred Onyedinma might depart the League One club in the summer transfer market.

The Independent has strongly hinted that the winger is not expected to pen a new contract and is preparing to bid farewell to the Lions after eight years.

Premier League duo Watford and Hull City plus Queens Park Rangers are reportedly monitoring the situation of the 20-year-old Onyedinma.

Though the youngster is set to depart Millwall as a free agent, they will receive training compensation, thought to be in the region of one million pounds, because he developed at their academy.

Onyendinma has spent the whole of his career at Millwall apart from a spell on loan at Wycombe Wanderers during the 2014-2015 season.

Victor Osimhen is out of Nigeria’s international friendlies:

VfL Wolfsburg forward Victor Osimhen is out of Nigeria’s international friendlies against Senegal and Burkina Faso later this month in London.

The 18-year-old was listed among the 25-man squad released by the Nigeria Football Federation last week but it is looking likely he would not be available for the games because of the injury.

Osimhen underwent an operation on his knee about 10 days ago after suffering a relapse from a previous operation and is expected to be back after 12 weeks.

The talented teenager, who shone like a million stars at the 2015 Fifa Under-17 World Cup, is yet to make his official debut for the Bundesliga side since his move there.

He is effectively out for the rest of the season but might be back for Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations and Fifa World Cup qualifiers later in the year.

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr, who is aware of the injury to the former Golden Eaglets star, is yet to name a replacement for Osimhen for the upcoming international friendlies.
Rorh should leave this guy out for now. Let him settle-down professionally first.

If Iwobi drops out of the friendly, i hope one of Aluko or Onyekuru is called up.
If this is true, then I would go for Onyekuru. However, that doe not mean Onyekuru may be guaranteed a starting shirt as Ahmed Musa and Moses Simon are standing on the lines. Not to also forget Success.

Rohr may even go ahead to invite a player from another role. Not ruling out Aluko's invitation also.

I saw him play CAF Champions league with ASEC mimosa of Abidjan in 2010/2011. I followed him when he went to FC Luzern of Switzerland in 2012. He came back to play in the NPL before heading for Isreal in 2013. He is currently in FK Austria Vien, since 2015.

He is a good player, talented no doubt and also hard working but I'll say not exceptional thus far. His career progress has been back and forth a kind of.

He is 24yrs old but I cannot classify him with the likes of Martins, Yakubu and Utaka when they were same age.

I see Kayode as a good inclusion to the squad but I sincerely dnt think he will likely be our goals king. I hope he proves me wrong.

Iheanacho Breaks Silence On Rivalry With Gabriel Jesus And Bit Part Role At Man City

https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/image-5.jpg

Manchester City Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho has for the first time spoken out about his predicament at the club, where he has been reduced to a bit part player since the coming of Gabriel Jesus.

The Nigerian made a goal scoring return to the City squad with a goal in their FA Cup replay against Huddersfield, but was still not considered good enough to force his way into the team for their last weekend tie against Sunderland.

Yesterday he however got to play and almost scored a late winner but failed to connect a ball from Kevin De Bruyne. He is however keen on moving away from the loss and also urged his teammates to focus on their next game.

Speaking after yesterday’s game, he also told the club official website about his eagerness to see Gabriel Jesus back in action, even though it will mean limited playing time for him.

“Everyone in our team can deliver – those on the bench and those playing.

“If you are called upon to come into a game to make something and help the team to win, you to put everything in 100 per cent to make sure the team win.

“Unfortunately we couldn’t do it today”, he told the club official website Mancity.com.

“We are happy to have everyone around. Kun is doing well, Gabriel is doing well. I hope for him [Jesus] to recover quickly so he can come in the team because we really need him.

“We work together as a team. We need everyone as a team for us to get something after this season.

“Sergio is brilliant and has been doing really well. We hope to see more of that soon.

“On my part, any time I am in I need to give 100 per cent because everyone is important in the team.

“I think I have really done well [so far in my career] but everyone needs to improve. I need to keep working and keep improving. I have so many things to improve on. I need to keep learning.”

My take is this. Some players are exceptional and it doesn't matter if they play at home or abroad. We cannot follow a general trend as regards how home based players do not eventually meet up to group all home based players as not ready to play for Nigeria until they prove themselves in Europe. I like what Rohr is doing. All the coach needs to do is watch NPFL games. A coach will know a star when he sees one irrespective of where the player plays. I think the solution to our defense problem is in the domestic league. Because many of our domestic defenders have not been going to Europe over the years compared to their counterparts in the other departments of play. The likes of Oboabona provided a short term solution. At least that's good enough to help us qualify for the world cup.
You made some valid points here.

In particular for young players. I have personally learnt not to write-off young players playing in the NPFL. Though, I have a cut-off age. For me, any player 25 and above still in the NPFL is a write-off.

Some players are fortunate to have some good representatives and they move to Europe even before they play U17. Some will move after playing for the Golden Eaglets or Flying Eagles. But there are still some that would have to work extra very hard to impress a lot of people before they make the move.

Brown Ideye
Uche Nwofor
Chinedu Obasi
Victor Anichebe
Osaze Odemwingie
Shola Ameobi
Victor Moses
Ahmed Musa
Obinna Nsofor
Sone Aluko

Looking at the form of those players as at that time, you still tell me Ezekiel was better than all of them? He would not even had offered up to what any of them was offering at that time.

Did Emenike go his first 7 games without a goal?

You have no evidence to support your claim for preference . I have said before a player might flourish in a system and perform poorly in another. So if Amunike could not find players he considered better than those he had, it is in line with his job.

It was an open camp and no invitations were sent out. Youngsters keep emerging in every set. Many players that played for Super Eagles did not pass the Nigerian youth system. So why do you expect differently from Amunike's set.
Just like we have no evidence to support our claims of Siasia's preference for 'his boys'.

That was the starting line-up against Tanzania away
If you look closely, only the right back Kwambe was home based. It will be totally unreasonable to single him out for blame for the goalless draw. Believing that homebased players caused us 2 Afcon tickets is a huge myth.

Yes Gambo Mohamed and Egwuekwe were at the Confederations cup, but I don't think their inclusion caused our losses to Uruguay and Spain.
Am not defending Gambo but I think people were being harsh on him. Just about any player can miss a sitter like he did. As a matter of fact, I've seen Kanu, Yakubu, Osaze, Emenike, Uche and Martins miss sitters in the green and white.
Was it not Ujah, a bundesliga striker who missed all sort of chances against Tahiti, at a time it became an embarrassment. Ideye also in the same game missed and missed and missed... We should have beat those Tahitians 12:1 if they managed to convert their chances but Nigerians like you will rather hang Gambo because he's the target, he's homebased after all.

A few pages back, I read and shook my head when you said Odey would not have passed trials at Wolfsburg. Seriously, are you God? How could you have known he won't have a successful trial at Manchester United?
Please stop the prejudice against homebased. Its not a crime they weren't born abroad.

Maybe you will say because Odey did not make Amunike's U17, Amunike did not hold an open camp during the U17.
You know the process of selecting players at U17 is different from that of U20. The U17 is strictly for academy players. And the issue of MRI.
A couple of players were even turned back based on their appearance bc the NFF were trying to cut cost from performing MRI for every d!ck and Harry. I am sure you have heard about how Greg Nwokolo had to hand over the gloves to Dele Alampasu bc the coaches said he would definitely fail the MRI.

It is every club's wish to have their young players in the national youth teams as it is an opportunity to market the players and reap big benefits.
If Amuneke had invited Odey there was no way MFM could have turned it down.

Exclusive – Rohr Calls Up Olarenwaju Kayode As Osimhen Replacement Ahead Senegal & Burkina Faso Tie

https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/image-4.jpg

Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively report that coach of the Super Eagles Gernot Rohr has handed a maiden call up to Austria Wien’s forward Olarenwaju Kayode for the upcoming friendly games against Senegal and Burkina Faso in London later in the month.

Kayode will replace Victor Osimhen who has withdrawn from the game after undergoing surgery to cure the injury that has stopped him from making his debut for German side Wolfsburg.

” I am very happy that finally the handlers of the Super Eagles have counted me worthy enough for an invitation”, Kayode told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” I want to thank all those who believed in me and I will do everything possible to give this oppurtunity my very best”, he concluded.

The forward who has done credibly well in both domestic and European competitions this season precisely the Europa League, has played for Nigeria at U-17 and 20 level, but this is his first call up to the senior national team.

Are you saying Amunike did not run an open under 20 camp? When it was stated on the news. Announced repeatedly and many turned up.

Keep in mind coaches have different views on the game. A coach might like Odey and another might not. It is as simple as that.

Did Odey say he went to the U20 camp and was denied entry?
It is not an issue of whether the camp was thrown open or not. Amuneke already had a preference for his U17 boys.
600 players invited from where? Academy or NPFL players. How many players from the NPFL were invited for the screening?

Manu called back his players that failed the MRI at U17.Players like: Ifeanyi Mathew, Benerd Bulbwa, Ibrahim Alhassan, Wilfred Ndidi, Abdul Kareem Mustapha. And these guys strengthened the team. Not to also talk of NPFL players that were also involved. Did Amuneke call back any of his players that failed the MRI? Amuneke's U20 were too young and largely lacking in experience.

Watch out as more youngsters 20 years and below emerge from the league. And i'll keep asking why they were not part of Amuneke' U20.

NFF Technical Committee -Why Osimhen Was Preferred Ahead Of Odey By Gernot Rohr

https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/image-52.jpg

The reason why the top scorer in the Nigeria Professional Football League Stephen Odey was left out by coach Gernot Rohr has been revealed by a member of the technical committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Odey who took his goal tally to seven for the season with the winning goal for MFM in their 1-0 win over Remo Stars yesterday, was the one player many expected to be included in the Eagles squad for the friendly tie against Senegal and Burkina Faso.

The exclusion of the NPFL top scorer made former Nigeria international Emmanuel Babayaro to lash out at the Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr, insisting that the 18 year old deserve to be in the squad ahead of Wolfsburg Victor Osimhen.

However a member of the technical committee of the NFF told Owngoalnigeria.com that the exclusion of Odey was done in good faith without favoritism by the Eagles coach.

” It’s okay to criticise the list of a national team coach, but we all know that every player can’t be called up at the same time . Osimhen has been part of Rohr’s plan from the start of his reign as coach”, he told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” Odey will be given a chance by the coach in the future, for now Osimhen has the edge over him. We have to understand how Rohr works, he is a progressive, Osimhen time will come”.

That is just the answer to all these calls for Onyekuru, Odey, Idowu, Otigba, Adi, Kayode and co.

So this Odey is 18? And somebody tells me Amuneke threw his U20 Camp open.

Mali also out of the WYC. That makes Nigeria and Mali, last U17 finalists, out. Mali even losing 6-1 to Zambia in one of the group matches.

The fact remains that no nation has won the U17 and 2 years later gone ahead to win the U20.

I keep saying it that, an U17 Success if not well managed would usually lead to an U20 Failure. In most cases, success at U17 would not allow for the best players under the age of 20 to be selected. I have been pointing out this fact for ages.
Teams that didn't do well at U17 would usually open the doors to other players that were not part of the U17 but teams that did well at the U17 would usually promote them automatically to an U20 level which is far more competitive and requires some level of professional experience.

Look at Nigeria's cases for instance:

U 17 1985, Winners but U20 1987, group exit @ WYC
U17 1993, Winners but U20 1995, finished 3rd @ AYC & pulled out by Gen Abacha from the WYC
U17 2007, Winners but U20 2009, 2nd round exit.
U17 2013, Winners but U20 2015, 2nd round exit.
U17 2015, Winners but U20 2017, Crashed out at AYC qualifiers.

Our U20 Teams that performed best (1989 & 2005) never won the U17 WC. I have once x-rayed the structure and composition of both teams.

The NFF needs to call a stake holders meeting and look at this worrisome trend.

The U20 age grade is more important in terms of graduating players into the senior team, but we keep failing.

Ezekiel Imoh and Ujah were snubbed by chop chop coaches.

It has nothing to do with their talents.

When they saw Nigerian coaches no like them, they decided to follow money.
Who snubbed who?

The then 18years old Ezekiel that was invited to the Flying Eagles camp in 2011 and then he turned it down. He was not ready for the Super Eagles until prio to 2014 WC when Keshi invited him for a friendly. Yes he was not ready to compete for space with wingers like Victor Moses, Chinedu Ogbuke, Obinna Nsofor, Sonne Aluko and Ahmed Musa.

In 2014 for whatsoever reason he went to the middle-east.

Rio, Siasia gave him another opportunity and also us another opportunity to re-assess his readiness for the Super Eagles.

Anthony Ujah, there was no way he could break into the Super Eagles as at that 2011 when he came to limelight.
He was instead invited to the U23 Camp along with Ighalo, Lukman, Oduamadi, Igiebor, Raheem, Oseni and co. He didn't really do so well.

He was left out to develop and got a couple of invitations during Keshi and Oliseh's reign but he didn't really meet our expectations. He was not the type of striker we were looking for.

So wetin come bring chop-chop for this one.

Before u were shouting nepotism. Now ur slogan is fraud and chop-chop. Lets discuss the football and put aside all unfounded insinuations pls.

Nothing wrong in pushing for players or player who is in form but u need to understand that there are a lot of things to consider in players selection. It is not as easy as u guys think it is. Besides, most of these young players end up as a flash in the pan.

Yes u take a gamble by inviting them but u dnt invite all at the same time.

Onyekuru will get his turn if he continues doing well.

Chikatara was not among those singled out for not being fit. I still feel that was total bs. Siasia should have taken the blame instead of passing out that rubbish excuse.
Chikatara was reported to have been sidelined due to inability to cope with Siasia's rigorous drills. That story was posted on this forum, though the previous Super Eagles thread.

I think he might be the better dribbler but that is as far as I will take it. The other 3 bring more to the team than Imoh but I wouldn't call ur opinion crazy sha .
