terzurum5: Everton Fc signed Ademola Lookman for £11m
While Onyekuru was the subject of a £1million bid from Celtic in the January transfer window.
Hmmmmmm are your thinking what am thinking
The question is who is better ? The issue is not all about who is better now. It is a question of who has the better prospect to be a big hit. If I buy Lookman(for now an English boy) today at 11m pounds I stand a chance of selling him for as much as 30m+ in a few years time. That is a whopping 19m profit on his sign-on. If I buy Onyekuru (a Nigerian boy) today even for 5m pounds he is not as likely to be worth up to 20m pounds in a couple of years. I have stated this factor here before. Nigerian or African youngsters are not as much likely to turn out to be good investments as much as South American or European youngsters. This is a bitter truth but it is the truth. African youngsters have over the decades mostly turned out not to leave up to their hypes and expectations and these Europeans understand this fact. |

BascoVanVeli: Its a crying shame that needs to stop. It was only Okocha and Kanu that I know got the farewell they deserved. Others even Keshi were almost pushed and booed out of the team. They were tagged 'old tired legs'. Keshi as a big boss just retired jeje. Finidi and Oliseh were disgraced out. Yakubu, even with all the good times he had with our national was shamed out due to that miss against Korea Rep. U saw how Oliseh treated Enyeama, our all time best goalie. The list continues. |

BlackAlbino6: Senegal gunning to down Sudan
https://africanfootball.com/bp_images/2017/02/2017_CAF_U%E2%80%9320_Africa_Cup_of_Nations_banner1.jpg
The Senegal U20 side will be targeting a win as they get their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, Group B underway against Sudan on Monday.
The West Africans will be out to dispatch the junior Falcons of Jediane as they hope to reach the 2017 FIFA U20 World Cup in South Korea in May.
On their road to Zambia, they lost once to Ghana as they managed to beat Tunisia 2-0 as well as a win over the Ghanaians in the first leg through a 3-1 win.
Upon their arrival in the Southern African country for the tournament, technical director Mayacine Mar believes the Joseph-Koto coached side can do well and reach the junior World Cup.
Although he is confident, he said they must be cautious of their group opponents, having lost 1-0 to Nigeria in the 2015 final.
“We have to qualify to the World Cup and after we reach the top two, then we have to go for the title,” he said.
Looking at the Sudanese, they have had a good qualifying campaign en route to Zambia and will hope to keep their good run intact.
They managed to secure a big win over Nigeria (4-3) and a 1-1 draw against Mauritius, but lost 1-0 to Angola.
Facing the Senegalese will not be an easy task considering the experience of the West Africans in continental tournaments, but they will also be motivated to reach the World Cup.
The match is slated for Monday, 27 February at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola at 15:00.

terzurum5: Manchester United Scouts Have Watched Super Eagles Star Etebo Severally This Season
https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/image-91.jpg
CD Feirense and Super Eagles star midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo has been watched by top European teams including English Premier League giants Manchester United.
Scouts have regularly watched CD Feirense’s game and reports in Portugal says they have been to these games primarily due to Etebo and 26 year old Brazilian forward Platiny.
The duo are reportedly two of the prized asset of the newly promoted Portuguese team, with Etebo the most favoured as he is only 21 years old.
Owngoalnigeria.com gathered that scouts from the La-Liga have also watched the Eagles midfield maestro but in England, Manchester United have posted scouts to his games more than any other club.
According to reports Etebo who has played in 12 games this season has played in 6 times in front of scouts from the newly crowned EFL Champions in England.

terzurum5: Chrisantus – Osimhen Suffering What I Witnessed At Hamburg, Three Coaches In A Year
https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/image-69.jpg
Former World Youth Championship top scorer Macauley Chrisantus says Victor Osimhen is battling same issues that stopped him from fulfilling his potentials at German club Hamburg.
Just like Chrisantus in 2007, Osimhen moved to German side Wolfsburg after emerging as top scorer at the U-17 World Youth Championship in 2015.
Osimhen only recently became eligible to represent the team in competitive games after clocking 18 in January but in his one year stay at the club, he has already worked with two coaches following the sacking of Dieter Hecking and Valerin Ismael.
Only yesterday the club appointed their third coach of the season in Andreas Jonker, and according to Chrisantus, constant managerial changes during his time at Hamburg didn’t help his career growth, same thing he fears could happen to Osimhen.
” I worked under 5 coaches in my first year at Hamburg. It’s funny because just when you think you are winning the heart of the coach. He is replaced by another”, Chrisantus told Owngoalnigeria.com.
” I fear the worst for Osimhen, three coaches in one year with Wolfsburg. Not quite ideal for his growth, moreso when you consider the fact that the Sporting Director who influenced his signing is no longer at the club.
” But he is a strong lad, stronger than me back in the days. So am trusting him to succeed where I couldn’t, he has all it takes to succeed.”

eazyjakes: Wilfred Ndidi did remarkably well today especially in terms of interceptions/ball winning bt d dude still has a lot to learn in terms of tactical discipline as he is easily drawn out of his position. He is also far below onazi in terms of ball retention and distribution....I will pick onazi ova him for now bt he is not too far off in usurping onazi in d nearest future! I also share your view. You know Ndidi started off as a CB which could be largely responsible for his excellent ball blocking/interception ability. Ndidi's mobility is a strength but also a weakness cos as u rightly said he is often drawn out of position. His excellent interception ability is also an asset to us as that implies Ndidi is still very useful as a CB. Troost-Ekong has been off pace of late, so who knows? Rohr may consider Ndidi for a CB position. Ndidi can also be played alongside Onazi with Onazi playing the more central role. Besides, we have not been seeing Onazi's games of late bc we dnt watch Turkish league in our homes. As I have said repeatedly August is still far away, a lot can happen from now till then. Lets keep watching. |

BascoVanVeli: We can't throw away our vice captain like that. The people in England are fools if they blame Musa for anything. They just don't have the guts to admit that Vardy was the problem. This is not an issue of vice captaincy. Was Oliseh, the captain of the 2002 AFCON Team, not thrown away and disgraced? IMO opinion, Musa is not as bad a player as people tag him. I think we should redefine his role in the Super Eagles Team. We try him as a Supporting striker when we need to switch formation that requires a second striker. Musa is still a deadly forward. |

Meanwhile are you watching this Liverpool vs Leicester game? Ndidi has been sublime, I don't know what else you need That is why I have maintained August is far away. Let him continue playing. I am sure Rohr saw that game too. |

komekn: Just finished watching the Watford and West Ham game.
I was particularly focused on Isaac Promise, he has been widely mentioned as a solution to our quest for a quality striker.
That's the first game I have watched him and focused entirely on him. From this game I watched, I would say he is non starter. He is only 21 as is stated, he comes on in the 80th minute and plays 15 minutes or thereabouts. He should be full of energy leading the front line. Instead he is lethargic, slow and unable to impose himself on the game. He looks over weight very limited pace, infact he is too slow his touch isn't great and misses a sitter. He is far from athletic. I would have Obagoal over him morning, night and day.
I would recommend if we have no other options, we look for the best striker we can get in the Nigerian local league than this guy. He is simply not good enough. Hmmm... I did not watch the game but I have seen Success in previous games. U are not far from the truth. I think his recurrent injuries may be responsible for the lethargy. And I think it has to do with putting him on a less tedious drilling process bc of his injury prone nature. A good number of his injuries where from the training ground. So they probably could be going soft on him with the training exercises.I think that was also how Granada was able to manage him. Recall he complained about Manu Garba's rigorous trainings during the 2015 WYC which lead to him been dropped for a more athletic Awoniyi. I am just afraid for his career. He may just be on that familiar path of players that never lived up to their expectations. |

Mickael2: Seriously ehn, Nigerians like flowing with the European hype. Mbappe?! I know the rubbish they are saying about him now, I watch Monaco games week in week out, I have an active startimes bouquet for that in fact because of the Bundesliga games they show too, how is Mbappe better than....Okocha at 17 for example?! No Okocha was a super-talent compared to him sef, I don't even know where to grae him now but the hype is outstanding. This boy isn't doing what Di Maria hasn't done before, he is quick, very very quick but that's just about that. I am not going to say that Iheanacho is better than him because I am not sold on him either following his recent struggles but the two of them are defenitely in the same bracket. Gabriel Jesus? Atleast 10 times better than the lad. In fact there was a lad called Mosquito who did a whole lot better when he was still 17 but by 20 he was already gone! People should stop feeding my this rubbish about Mbappe, Pogba is worth 100million but he is not better than Verrati who is worth like 60. Now let me ask a question, if you happen to invent a software which you had intended to sell for....20k to a local businessman but then Dangote comes around and decides that he wants to buy the software, will you still sell for 20k? No matter how righteous you are, you will increase it and if the smaller businessman cannot meet up then Dangote takes it home. The Epl is the dangote here and other leagues will always milk them dry, I have seen worse talents coming to the Epl for a more ridiculous sum so I am not suprised. Talking sense man. |

terzurum5: Hot in Demand Midfield Maestro Onyedinma Keeps Nigeria Waiting Over International Future
https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/image-97.jpg
20 year old Millwall midfield sensation Wilfred Oluwafemi Onyedinma is yet to decide on his international future, keeping his options open between Nigeria and England, the two nations he is eligible to represent.
Onyedinma started making waves at Millwall since the age of 17, and at 18 he was voted Man of the Match on his full debut against Charlton Athletic, which caught the eyes of several big teams in England.
Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City reportedly made checks on his progress but an official move wasn’t made, which made him to remain at Millwall where he has grown in leaps and bounds.
He is a full fledged member of the first team of the League One side at the age of 20, and very noticeable is the club decision to hand him the iconic number 10 jersey.
His international future is however up for grabs as he is yet to be called up by Nigeria or England at any level. For now he has shelved talks about his international future as he is focused on making the step up from Millwall to a team in the upper tier of English football.

Mickael2: No No No, Obagoal is the perfect definition of a lone striker. He has the pacy, he is aggressive, the guy jumps higher than Cr7, he can dribble, he can do just about anything. I remember this game with Algeria in 2005 or so, he started as the lone forward, he scored either a hattrick or a brace. When Amodu came in during the tense 2010 world cup qualifications, he was mostly deployed as a lone forward. I believe that the only reason why people are asking for him is because we play a lone forward, and boy he can play that well enough We are discussing in 2017 u are talking about a 2005 form. Na wa. |

Mickael2: A player's era isn't determined by his age. Ogbeche played when he was 20 or so, his own era ended before he even turned 25, Zidane's era was supposed to end around 2005, but he came out of retirement to lead his nation to the 2006 world cup final, if not for Keshi's biased team selection, Martins ought to have been a constant regular in the team right now, ahead of Ideye and Ighalo atleast. When did he ever stop performing? USA, Levante, China you name it, all of them he has scored goals and played well too. If we can't find a suitable back-up left back then Taiwo deserves a look-in too, he was immense for Kemi in the norwegian league last season, he was their top scorer at some point! And if his era is gone then what is Mikel still doing in the team? It baffles me that you use 'experience' to justify the inculsion of one player but you neglect it totally when it comes to another player I do not dispute the fact that some players' football careers have a longer live span than others. Yes, some players come out of retirement to make a mark. But these are few exceptions. Obafemi Martins IMO is not the solution to our attack. Now, coming to the bolded. Yes I am an advocate of EXPERIENCE but I know where to draw the lines between Experience and efficiency and talent. And I also have always mentioned it that the role of experience varies in different departments of the team. Every one who has been following my comments on this thread knows I dnt tolerate in-experienced defenders and goalies especially for big games. I also go for experience and cohesion in the midfield but for the attack I like young adventurous players even with relatively little experience (I am not talking about academy players here). I like my forwards young. Young players like Iheanacho, Iwobi, and Etebo have always been top of my picks among forwards. I have also clamored for the inclusion of Isaac Success. You saw me the other day defending a choice of Iwobi as an AM over Aluko. For the DMF position. This also requires experience that is why I would not hastily want to drop Onazi for Ndidi. Ndidi is on the ascendency while Onazi looks to have been stagnated but I would want Ndidi to continue playing more games for his club side and gather more experience and physicality before I can say he should displace Onazi. August is along time away, many things can happen between now and then. I believe more in adventurous forwards who are on their ascendency that is why Ideye and Ighalo even with their experience have fallen out of my lists. Those two are on the decline curve not to talk of Martins, Haba! Yes, Experience is very important but as I said I know where to draw the lines between Experience, efficiency and talent. Just take a look at this team below. That is what I am talking about. Experienced defenders and midfielders with young and adventurous forwards line. That is why Rohr would always get my thumbs up in the area of players selection.

However, in comparison Obagoal has much superior pedigree than Utaka. Peter Utaka? Why not lets also invite Obinna Nsofor, Chinedu Obasi, Taye Taiwo and Yakubu Ayegbeni. What did we achieve with those players? Their era is gone! |

Super Eagles Chief coach, Salisu Yusuf has confirmed that the players playing in the Nigeria Professional Football League still have a place in the senior national team.
He made this statement after two of the Nigerian clubsides booked their place in the round of 32 of the CAF Champions League qualifying stages, where Enugu Rangers held JS Saoura of Algeria to a goaless draw to qualify on the away goal rule after playing a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Algiers while Rivers United smashed AS Real Bamako from Mali 4-0 in Port Harcourt on Sunday.
Having managed teams such as Enyimba FC and El Kanemi Warriors in the NPFL, Salisu pointed out to Soccernet.com.ng that Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr has not abandoned the home based players despite putting more faith in the foreign pros.
“I don’t believe on this idea that the home based players have been abandoned by the Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr. I am of the view that some of the home based players will still play a major part in the team’s World Cup and Africa Cup of Nations qualifying series,” Salisu told Soccernet.com.ng.
“Rohr has always love to give every players equal opportunity to play in the senior national team regardless of your club status and I am so sure they will be given a look in if they continue to improve their standard.
“Besides, you can observe that even the standard of the Nigerian league has improved, something which has caught the attention of the technical adviser and also myself. Mind you, I am the eyeball of the NPFL and I won’t be happy if we ignore the NPFL stars.”

Nigeria will take on Senegal with the full compliment of all of their foreign based squad including players based in England, where the game will take place.
Although coach Gernot Rohr has indicated that he intends to try out new players, the coach however told Owngoalnigeria.com that he will however include almost all of his stars in the friendly games.
” We will fill a strong team against Senegal and Ghana. The game is crucial to our aspirations of going to the 2019 Nations Cup and 2018 World Cup. It’s in London so there won’t be much problem”, Rohr said.
” The idea is to perfect strategy ahead of very crucial games, so even though we will have some new players, we will field a strong team, almost how we intend to play in our game”.

terzurum5: Rohr Warns – We Won’t Pick More Than Three Players Playing In China
https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/image-80.jpg
Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has warned players of the senior Nigeria national team moving to China, that players based in Europe are going to be considered ahead of them when it comes to selecting of players.
Brown Ideye is close to joining Super Eagles duo of captain John Obi Mikel and Odion Ighalo in China, which will bring to five the number of Nigerian players who have moved to the Far East since January.
Overall there are now seven Nigerian players plying their trade in the big paying Chinese environment, and Rohr has warned that he will consider less players from the league.
” The Chinese League is not as backward as many thought, or it has moved forward from what it use to be. But Europe is still where I feel is best for players as the level is very high”, Rohr told Owngoalnigeria.com.
” We have to consider the players in competitive leagues before looking at the players in less competitive league, maybe three players from China would be ideal for our squad”.

terzurum5: Alampasu Yet To Regain Number One Spot At Third Division Portuguese Side
https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/image-67.jpg
Super Eagles third choice shot stopper Dele Alampasu is still playing second fiddle to Bruno Pinto at third division Portuguese side Cesarense.
Alampasu is on a season long loan to the club from first division side CD Feirense, but after a fine start with the struggling team he has lost his spot as the first choice shot stopper.
The 20 year old kept goal in 8 games with no clean sheet to his name, and his case was made worst when he arrived Portugal late from a national team assignment with Nigeria, which paved the way for Pinto to keep goal and since then remained as first choice after a clean sheet in his first game between the sticks.
Despite the reported extension of his loan deal, he has fail to wrestle the number one spot from the hands of Pinto, who has kept goal in the four games they have played this year, while Alampasu is yet to play a game this year.
