cheapgoals: Ex- Super Eagles coach, Austin Eguavoen, will lead a select group of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) U-17 team to South Africa to partake in a 7-day football tourney.
The team is comprised of 20 players chosen from various NPFL youth academies such as Remo Stars, Kano Pillars, Nasarawa United, Wikki Tourists, FC IfeanyiUbah, Gombe United, and Shooting Stars.

komekn: Better results 100% I agree without qualification we have had great teams and at the time great players. But that's where it ended.
However, where players progression and development is concerned there is a problem, a very big problem. Our players reach incredible heights at youth competitions but somehow the progression stops there.
If I look at the 2007 & 2009 U17 teams how far have our players gone. Chrisantus has almost faded, Haruna Lukman, Stanley Okoro, Rabui Ibrahim, Terry Envoy, Edafe, etc, etc. There seems to be a big problem they get so far but then just don't progress to the higher heights we expected.
In comparison to other nations you mentioned, particularly as our players did so much better than thiers. For instance look at Mario Gotz 24 played and playing at the highest levels for Germany. Or the Rafael twins for Brazil, etc etc.
I really though Rabui Ibrahim would be playing at Barcelona or a top team but he has almost faded. Something is not right. 1. The youths system is not just the U17. It also goes as far as the U23. 2. You failed to mention Ogenyi onazi, Kenneth Omeruo, Ramon Azeez, Mike Olaitan, Olanrewaju Kayode and Abdul Ajagun as part of that 2009 U17. 3. It is known all over the world that not all U17 or U20 graduates progress to the senior team. 4. The progression problem is not with our youths system but the system that matures the youth players into senior professionals. The NPFL is my no. 1 culprit. 5. The success of a system or unit is measured by its results or efficiency so tell me what England has ever achieved in the history of youths football from U17, U20, and U23. 6. I'll say this and can defend it anywhere that most of those Anglo-Nigerian boys being promoted here are not better than our own Victor Osimhen, Musa Yahaya, Kelechi Nwakali, Taiwo Awoniyi, Isaac Success, Kelechi Iheanacho, Wilfred Ndidi, Chidi Nwakali, Samuel Chukwueze, name them. 7. I dnt share that sentiment that bc they were born somewhere in England and so they are better. 8. Rohr selecting Obazee and Osimhen ahead of those English players dnt u feel its also bc the German youths system is better than the English? 9. Go to the French league and see the numerous Francophone West African boys that spring out of their youths system. Names like Toure, Diarra, Diawara, Bakayoukou, Kamara, Traore are now like popular French names. Na only England own una go see. 10. I dnt have anything against the English born players bt my take is we only go for the ones that,'ll add value and nt to be chasing all of them with the hope that one or two by chance will switch to Nigeria. |

goldfish80: No. He played as a support striker not as a DM. The black guy on Jersey number 91 was the DM not Chidera. Chidera wore no70 Jersey, he was the most advanced player in the lead up to their first goal ... Its a case of mistaken identity on your part, probably you had them mixed up because of their identical skin colour. Ok. makes more sense to me. |

komekn: Why do you mean, the English youth system is over rated
There are two issues here youth system and youth players. Ok they have a youth system that has not been producing good results. They are no where near the youths systems of Germany, Brazil, Spain, and France. Even the Nigerian and Ghanaian youths systems have produced better results. Their youths system - well structured but not producing the desired results. |

That's why he invited young players like Osimhen, Obazee, and Ebuehi. These are just friendlies you know. |

tbaba1234: Onazi Ndidi
Etebo
Double pivot by Onazi/Ndidi... Or Etebo/Ndidi with Onazi in front..
Iwobi and Simon on the wings (I think Moses will pull out), Bazee should come in later.
Iheanacho up front. Kayode replaces him later.
Ikeme
Musa Troost balogun Uwa
Onazi Ndidi
Etebo
Moses Iheanacho Iwobi
Subs: Kayode, Ebuehi, Bazee, Omeruo, Agbo, Hmmmmm but I thought Iwobi has been ruled out. Seems it looks difficult putting one of Onazi and Ndidi on the bench. The question is do u think Onazi is creative enough to play d box to box midfield role? |

ChrisKels: Musa has always been Musa. He is a rope of sand. His performance against Argentina remains the highlight of his career with Eagles till date, to me, Musa flattered to deceive. I never rated him because rating him would be glorifying mediocrity. Simon Moses ain't no less different, he keeps trying same thing over and again, expecting a different result. Neither of the two is inventive. These guys to me aint worth a starting berth with the Eagles, they can be there to add depth but definitely not as first teamers unless they up their ante.
Have you seen Onyekuru or Kalu play before? These guys plus injury-free Bazee(on his day) and Ademola are what we call cerebral wingers. I would pick Imoh Ezekiel ahead of the Musas of this world. I share ur feelings about Musa and Simon. However, I think Miss may have more to offer if we play him as a supporting striker. As for Onyekuru and Kalu, let's see them play first before I rate them. Imoh IMO is not different from Simon. They play almost alike. Anyways, thank God we have Iwobi and Moses as our first choice wingers. |

terzurum5: Gbolahan Salami Scores Sixth Goal Of The Season, Red Card Appeal Successful
https://allnigeriasoccer.com/football_pics/60118salami.png
Kuopion Palloseura failed to advance to the next round of the Suomen Cup after a 4-2 loss to FC Honka at the Savon Sanomat Areena on Sunday evening.
Three days before the encounter, KuPS were handed a boost with news that Nigeria international Gbolahan Salami would be allowed to face Honka after their red card appeal to the Finnish League was successful.
The former Shooting Stars and Warri Wolves man had been sent off against Ilves on March 7 and handed a two-game ban in the process, which was later overturned.
After missing a couple of chances that would have changed the outcome of the match, Salami managed to reduce the deficit to 3-1, his sixth goal in the competition this season, after 66 minutes.
In the group phase, the Nigerian hit target in games against JJK (2), Mikkelin (2) and FC Lahti.
Out-of-favour Super Eagles defender Azubuike Egwuekwe put in a full shift and was cautioned in the 37th minute.

By Augustine Akhilomen
Forgotten Super Eagles forward, Victor Anichebe could return to face Burnley if he recovers quickly from injury.
The Nigerian striker who has formed a formidable strike partnership with Jermain Defoe, has been a big miss for the Black Cats after picking up a knee ligament injury. He provided crucial support for Jermain Defoe up front, but the Black Cats have struggled for goals in his absence.
Anichebe films while working on an exercise bike in the US city of Philadelphia. He has previously spent time in the States to maintain his fitness, and showcased a series of pictures of famous landmarks of the American city.
While his arrival at the end of the transfer window may have underwhelmed Sunderland fans, his contributions on the pitch saw them beat Bournemouth, Hull, Leicester and Watford.
David Moyes spoke this week of his hope that Anichebe, Lee Cattermole and Jan Kirchhoff will be back to play a part in the crucial fixtures in April, and the former Everton striker posted a video on his Instagram page of him in the gym, working on his fitness.
