2007 - I thought Chrisantus Macaulay was the golden ball winner. Mehn that dude was almost 30 when he played that tournament because I know him pretty well. I am not trying to back lash him. Age caught up with him and we all know what became of him. The exploit of Lukman Haruna and Rabiu Ibrahim in midfield was a delight to watch

2001- I can't forget the exploits of Femi Okpabunmi. I cried when we lost to France in the Finals. We were outclassed and beaten silly. No thanks to the technical crew.

2009- Emmanuel Sani was a super sub with eyes for goals. His selfishness caused us the trophy. Good to see the likes of Onazi and Omeruo still holding their own.
How can I forget little Messi, Okoro who was already married with kids playing in that tournament. He was a delight to watch but he also received the recompense of age cheating.

Mikel played in 2003 but they didn't go far in the tournament, I guessed.

2013 produced the likes of Iheanancho, Nwakali, Alfa, Awonoyi and Success.

2015 produced the likes of Kelechi Nwakali and Victor Osimhen. .

The golden generation is gradually coming into reckoning now with the Likes of Iheanancho, Success, Osimhen, Awonoyi, Yahaya, Iwobi, Nwakali, Nwobodo etc
Toni Kroos won the Golden ball for the 2007.
Chrisantus won the Silver ball.

Unfortunately, we have a system as good as non-existent. The talents are there but no plans or roadmaps
The transition from U17 to U20 has been a major problem for us. We have won the U17 five times.Higher than any other country in the world but we have never won the U20. We have even only played 2finals.

TheGoodJoe:

The U17 is good for finding raw talents. However, grooming and nurturing these talents requires a lot of input in terms of quality training materials and innovative coaching.

An exceptional U17 team is a team made of brilliant talents. A U20 team that is exceptional is a team of future exceptional pros.

That is why we must help find our best talents and expose them to where they can get good pro training.
Yeah, you have just said it.

The U17 is made up of talented players.Raw talents. As they clock 18 they sign professional contracts and that is when moulding of their careers commence.

For a good number, their raw talents are not properly utilized during their grooming stage and they get stagnated.

Biko TheSuperNerd nwanne m nwoke, no dey quote Lordabas again. In fact we all should stop dignifying such trolls by quoting them. Even if he quotes u, ignore him.

Sir Goldfish onye oma, our trophy tour dun begin oo, sadly I have left for school. Am gonna miss.

Sir Icons, sir goodjoe please the call by sirforgiveness to extend an invitation to Brian isn't a bad call, our RB needs urgent attention we can't continue with makeshifts. I had envisioned Iorfa taking that role but his father with his politics remains a stumbling block. I pray Mikel convinces Aina and Odubajo pledges his allegiance.
No body here is pleased with the situation at the RB and we have all agreed that the lasting solution is to scout for and groom natural RBs. However, for the Algeria game we may still have a make shift RB.

Whoever Rorh wants to invite before or after the Algeria game, be it Mohammed, Brain, Tyronne, Odubanjo, Asoro, Maja, Osede, Lazarus, Sincere, Ekpolo, it is up to him.

My own is we dnt want to see a "green horn" at RB against Algeria. One of our CBs preferably Omeruo would be more suitable.

There are so many factors involved. I'm beginning to fear for Kelechi Nwakali too
They not qualifying for the next U20 will definitely have a negative touch on the careers of a lot of those boys.

I prefer Taye Taiwo to Amuzie.
undecided

Taiwo has been out of the team for too long to be given a serious consideration. If you had even mentioned Oshaninwa i for still understand.

But for me Amuzie is our 2nd best LB currently.

He would have faired better than Ndidi at that RB.

Omeruo is my first choice for the RB job against Algeria anyways.

Comparing Perreira who has achieved nothing in football to Mikel who has won everything is ridiculous..

Iheanacho is currently the second striker at Man city 3 years after under 17. Arsenal is a massive club and have consistently played CL football for more than a decade. Maura is 24.. Iheanacho, Yahaya and Iwobi are 20.... 2 years ago, they were 18... not a fair comparison.
Musa Yahaya is 18+.

How em take better pass dem?

Bros, make we leave tory Moses Odubanjo is very good and if Ola Aina agrees to play for Nigeria, we will be having world class rbs.

For now, let us give Tyronne Ebuechi and Brain Idowu the chance.
Bros we don hear you about this "Tyronne Ebuechi and Brain Idowu" talk. After the Algeria game next month we would have numerous FIFA windows for friendlies where we can test a couple of RB options. But for this Algeria game we may still have to fall back on a make shift RB.

I know if i suggest one name now people wey go wan chop me go plenty. What if we invite Efe Ambrose for that RB position? For me he remains our best RB since after Chidi Odiah. He has got the experience for a big game like this. (Just thinking o).

I dnt know o.

But from that crop a good number have also progressed fairly well. The following players were also from that crop of 2009 U17 to 2011 & 2013 U20: Ogenyi Onazi, Ahmed Musa, Kenneth Omeruo, Moses Simon, Wilfred Ndidi, Michael Olaitan, Abdul Ajagun, Kingsley Madu, Shehu Abdulahi, Aminu Umar, Emem Uduak,,Usman Mohammed, Uche Agbo, Olanrewaju Kayode. Remember also Ramon Azeez and Uche Nwofor. This crop so far has progressed better than most of their predecessors. They represent a good number in the Super Eagles. They are called "The Obu boys".

We are still observing closely the progression of the 2013 U17 to 2015 U20.

Douglas Costa is an absolute beast you know that right? Firminho, Coutinho and a host of others. And all of them are agemates, I think they came for the same U20 with Onazi, now compare them with the Nigerian players that we hyped then. What's the name of that our supersub? The one that scored goals as a sub but when he started the final he missed clear chances, can't remember his name, our little Messi, can't remember his name either. Kayode, Azeez even our defence stalwart, the old man Chukwudi something, where are they now? Which Nigerian lived up to the hype at all?
You mean Sani Emmanuel grin
Business › Re: Naira Maintains Gain On Parallel Market by Icon4s(m): 6:47am On Oct 12, 2016
Truth234:
The Nigerian Naira appreciated on the parallel market on Tuesday, following the introduction of Travelex to the Bureau De Change segment last week.

The local currency rose N2 to N468 against the dollar from N470 it was traded on Monday. While, on the interbank market the Naira closed at N304.75 to the greenback.

Last week, Travelex commenced the sales of dollar to Bureau De Change operators in the country, and immediately started selling directly to travellers to further boost liquidity in the market and aid economic activities.

Samed Olukoya, a foreign exchange research analyst at Investors King Limited, said “If the CBN and Travelex can sustain the current arrangement it, will help fight speculation and gradually prop up the Naira value against the dollar.”

While, other experts have said the Naira was being battered by market speculators and that the N500 exchange rate to the dollar was not the true value of the local currency.

However, Aminu Gwadabe, the president of the Association of Bureau De Change Operators, said that the authority still have to review the selling price of the dollars to the Bureau De Change operators to encourage Nigerians in Diaspora, whose remittances was being sold to the Bureau De Change operators.

He further stated that the new improvement in the Naira value would discourage the patronage of unlicensed parallel market traders and likely impact the progress made thus far.

“CRAZY NIGERIAN FANS CAN KILL A PLAYER
WITH LOVE” – IWOBI THUMBS UP SUPER
EAGLES FANS

https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/image-24-750x350.jpg

Nigeria international Alex Iwobi has heaped
praises on the fans of the Super Eagles of Nigeria,
terming them as crazy fans who can kill a player
with love.

Iwobi scored his first international goal for Nigeria
in their 2-1 win over Zambia last weekend in the
CAF World Cup 2018 qualifying series, where
Nigeria now leads group B after Algeria were held
to a draw.

The Arsenal forward who is no stranger to being
shown affection by fans, has however praised the
fans of the Nigeria senior national team for their
love and support.

”Nigerians are passionate about their team and
players. The love they show players of the
national team is way beyond description. They
scream my name everywhere I go” He said

” From the hotel to the airport, to the training
pitch, and even on the pitch. They can kill you
with love. Such passion makes one want to give it
all when playing for the nation”.

I believe if we keep investing in the league and making it more appealing, we can develop quality talents.

Brazil is still far ahead. I still remember Robinho during breaks gotta Brazil to play with Neymar, so he can develop. Santos have old players coaching and developing youngsters.

Football in Nigeria is just struggle for nothing. The LMC improved recently from before and I hope they keep improving. But, Brazil is not here or today. We are far back.
Who is willing to invest in the Nigerian league?
The government? or corporate bodies?

We had plenty of players like that Okocha could have walked into that same chelsea at the same age. It is just now that we are getting it right. Before Iheanacho would have gone to Elche, now we can see our boys getting better advice. Osimhen like i have already said could very well walk into the wolfsburg starting 11. We have Nigerians all over the world we are not too far behind in players playing outside.

Iheanacho was not signed from our league and took time to break into Manchester City. I do not know a Nigerian league player today that can walk into Chelsea team. The club will need to groom the player.

Wouldn't that be awesome? Imagine the boost in profile the Npfl will enjoy it they decide to do so. They should come if they have the liver grin grin

On a serious note, I think their should be some sort of legislation that all ex internationals before the retire should come down and play atleast a season in the npfl before they retire.
The Brazilians and Argentines boost their leagues with these sort of arrangement.
A couple of ex-internationals did that. But the problem is there is no money in the Nigerian league. The league is not attractive.
