Larry Echiele of Brila sport promoted most of these names.

I recall things like *in larry's voice* "The Attacker called Utaka!", "Dodooomayanaaa!", "The pastor called Taribo West!". "The weapon of mass destruction, obagooaal!". Bimbo Adeola aslo spoke like Larry.

Hmmm Glory days of Nigerian football. When i would wait to listen to bournvita sports special on OGBC2, with Larry Echiejile, 7:45 - 8:00am, before going for lectures. Then he had not started brila radio.

BlackAlbino6:
FIFA Force Porto To Send “Nigerian Robben” Samuel Chukwueze Back To Nigeria
Failed Arsenal target Samuel Chukwueze is back in Nigeria after spending time with Portuguese giants FC Porto, the team he will join when he clocks 18.

Chukwueze one of the stars of the last Nigeria U-17 team to the World Cup in Chile, where they emerged champions trained with the U-18s of the team before returning back to Nigeria.

His return we gathered was due to FIFA regulations on the transfer of minors, which means he can’t be kept by the team for now, as he is yet to be officially registered as their player.

Although a transfer fee has been agreed with his nursery team Diamond Academy for the recently turned 17 year old forward, but payments will be made after the transfer is made official.

However, Owngoalnigeria.com gathered that even when he clocks 18, arrangements are already well underway to loan him to a team in the low division before he makes the step up to the main team.

owngoalnigeria.com/2016/10/18/fifa-force-porto-to-send-nigerian-robben-samuel-chukwueze-back-to-nigeria/
No wahala, no be when he clocks 18?

Meanwhile, he could be available for the Korea tourney. It is highly talented teens like these that need more exposure.

yeah he didn't play the DM position in the classic manner like a makalele, oliseh etc per se but i think his discipline and good positioning made westerhof field him in that role. adepoju was really talented. i consider him one of the most underrated and unheralded players that we ever produced. he was a good foil for oliseh. i remember the master class him and oliseh gave the south africans in the semi-finals of AFCON 2000.

i feel if he had played in the midfield alongside oliseh and jayjay against cameroon in AFCON 2000 and denmark in france 98 the outcomes of those games might have been different
Mutiu (head master) was one of my favorite young players then. He was one of our best players at Saudi '89 U21.

He stepped into the Super Eagles when the competition was really very high.

Though he was hardly in the starting 11 but was a kind of player that changes things when introduced.

Not true that he was never celebrated. Those that knew his worth celebrated him. Same goes for Samson Siasia, another lethal striker hu hardly made the starting 11 bc of Amokachi and Yekini's killer combo.

henry nwosu was really promising but faded away after 88 AFCON

90-92 it was a combination of oliha, ekpo and adepoju. adepoju could play CM but westerhof primarily used him as a DM
Yeah, age caught up with Nwosu after Maroc '88. One questions whether he was really 17 @ Nigeria '80.

Adepoju was more of an AMF, though he could play also as a CMF.
Just like today severally AMFs then could be drafted as CMFs.
But the main CMF under Westerhof before JJ Okocha was Thompson Oliha.

Did Adepoju ever play as a DMF?

1, Henry Nwosu was not dynamic like Mikel Obi. He was was a attacking midfielder from the rw. He was not the one that controlled the midfield.

2, In 1992, there was Friday Ekpo(the number 10) and Mutui Adepoju of Real Madrid. In 1994, he was not the main man. There was Mutui Adepoju and Austin Okocha. grin

3, I am not good at storing football informations on my head hence the need to source for legitimate informations though I have ideas of what I am talking about.
1.Henry Nwosu was a CMF/AMF. I am sure u know players were nt as dynamic as they are today. Eg LB and RB hardly overlaped. And pls who controlled the midfield if not Nwosu.

2. Friday Ekpo was at Senegal '92 but a sub to Oliha. Thompson Oliha was the main CMF before Okocha took over. He even benched Okocha at the 1994 AFCON and '94 WC. Did i see you mention Okocha for 1992? Was Adepoju a CMF?

3. There are so many information u cant find on the net. Several. It is only when u withness those events that u can have such info.
