Onuachu who shot to global attention after scoring the winner against English giants Manchester United in the Europa League scored his fourth goal of the season in Denmark yesterday in a 1-1 draw against Viborg.
The goal took his season’s goal tally to one short of his all time record of 5 goals in a season, a feat he achieved while on loan to second division side Vejle last season.
21 year old Onuahu is reportedly being closely monitored by English Premiership side Aston Villa with reports claiming they will slap in a bid for the six feet, seven inch forward in the summer. owngoalnigeria.com/2016/04/09/aston-villa-target-onuachu-close-to-equalling-best-goal-tally-in-a-season/ I was even expecting something in d double digits. TheGoodJoe:
That is the case but I feel it should change if the player is contributing well in training. Although coaches do not rush changes in teams.
That is why I feel Coach Siasia would have done it differently if he had more time. He already took risk playing Shehu, Amuzie, Etebo and Iheanacho in the first leg.
He went with a more experienced side with some Youths in the second leg.
I do not want to heap much blame on Coach Siasia. Time was not on his side to Coach the team.
I just want to see more cases of coaches trusting the young ones when they are showing better form than the experience players in training and as sub players. U should know Siasia likes taking risks with young players. He probably felt he had fielded so many young players already so he needed the remaining spots for experienced players so as to attain a balsnce. Fielding too many young players against Egypt in Cairo or Alexandria sounds like a suicide mission. |

I think it was a case of Coach Siasia choosing to use strength and experience against the strong Egyptian defenders. If I wanted to go a physical route, I would have selected exactly the same squad Coach Siasia chose.
Unfortunately, it was a wrong choice. Especially for most of us here, including you who felt we should have used a more creative approach than strength.
I also believe the short time for Coach Siasia to work with his foreign pros also affected the team. As time goes, he will rely on his creative players when they blend with his philosophy and style (if he keeps the job).
I just feel the coaches should give the younger ones the benefit of doubt if they do well in training. It is not just Coach Siasia but even on the European grounds.
You can see Pellegrini will pick Bony ahead of Iheanacho even though Iheanacho contributes more to the team statistically. Ok see d Pellegrini case too. I think it is an issue of trust. Coaches trust d experienced players more to deliver d goods. |

TheGoodJoe:
Iwobi was our best performing creative midfielder in both legs. It is time we look into impact in the team than just experience. In both legs, he created two great chances that any other midfielder did. His pass to Victor Moses in the first leg and his pass to Ighalo in the second leg.
The truth is that we expect too much from our experienced players at the detriment of the team.
Ighalo was wasteful in camp and in training and we dropped the Performing young players because of his experience and Rep. I think it is time we rethink.
Same with Iheanacho having more impact than Ighalo but most times we go for experience of impact. Before d kick off of d first leg, would u have selected Iwobi to start d two legs? If u recall my proposed starting line up ahead of d 2nd leg, I started Iwobi. However, Siasia chosed to start Umar ahead of Iwobi bc he expected a highly physical and resilient Egyptian back-line. Umar, to Siasia, seemed to b in a better position to face that opposition also considering the impact he made after coming in in dat 1st leg. I prefered Iheanacho starting ahead of Ighalo bt Siasia prefered otherwise. He chose experience ahead of creativity. That is his choice. I respected his choices cos i know he went for experience and experience counts for much in football. |

by Samm Audu
Wednesday Apr 06, 2016. 17:21 Nigerian sports minister Solomon Dalung has made it very clear the country’s government will not pay the salaries of a foreign coach for the Super Eagles.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are pushing for a foreign coach to take charge of the Super Eagles ahead of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, which begin in October, after the three-time African champions failed to qualify for the AFCON a second straight time.
An official informed AfricanFootball.com: “The minister made it very clear during his meeting with the NFF on Tuesday that the government will not pay for a foreign coach and he does not expect the NFF to use the subvention they receive from the government to pay such a coach.”
Another official further disclosed,” What the minister really wants is that in four weeks, the NFF will come back with how they hope to pay for a foreign coach.
“If they can prove they can afford it, he will not stop them from hiring such a coach.”
NFF president Amaju Pinnick has been quoted as saying he will get a private company to offset the salaries of a foreign coach.
The NFF had earlier announced that the salaries of Sunday Oliseh will be borne by a top commercial bank, but by the time the coach quit his post he was owed three months’ pay. http://africanfootball.com/news/624353/Nigerian-govt-won-t-pay-for-foreign-coach-Minister [/b] Ban on importation of foreign goods. |

safarigirl: Y'all bee arguing as if NFF will allow anybody see progress sef.
Okay, the Iwobi we got, wetin dem use am do over 2-legs of AFCON qualifiers?
You think it's by packing foreign-based players in National teams? So if they play for U17 and U20, what guarantees do you have that they won't switch allegiance to England or Portugal dem? After all, didn't Iwobi play U17 and V Moses U20 for England before switching to Nigeria?
Do you know all the great English kids the English age grade teams passed up to field Iwobi and Moses? And what did they get in return? Just when the kid seems to be bearing fruits, he dumps them.
This argument is highly irrelevant and petty, so y'all drop it. No be by inviting players, are you willing to play them? A good player will get frustrated eventually and decide to feature somewhere he'll be played. Una think say if Iheanacho had a choice, e for play for Nigeria after what Manu did to him at U20? Same BS Siasia pulled once again at the qualifiers.
Y'all better take your argument to NFF cuz na dem dey spoil business for una
Cc Bascovanveli, thegoodjoe and forgiveness Iwobi's inclusion in the Egypt tie was mainly to secure his international future. We didnt expect much impact from him in d 2 games. Mayb u guys expect too much from these young players. He is a Gem to Nigeria going into d future. |

I watched the 19 years old Okocha feature at the 1993 AYC and 1994 World Cup qualifiers games played in 1993.
I also watched 18/19 years Old Mikel play at the 2005 AYC and 2006 AFCON.
And I think the 19 years old Mikel was a better player. (The 19 years old Mikel is far better than the current 28/29 years old Mikel even). This is what is called career regression.

CFCman: I'm guessing that the 4 seeded teams for the U-17WC would be Jordan, Japan, France (if they qualify), and Ghana. I would have put North Korea in the list, but FIFA's policy of ensuring "geographical and sporting factors" would likely not approve of 3 teams from the same confederation being amongst the top seeds. At age grade level FIFA does not seed Teams, they only pot Teams. The only Team seeded is the hosts which will automatically be in Group A. We usually have things like : European Pot, South Ameriacn Pot, Asian Pot and African/Oceanian pot. They select teams from each pot to fill up the available 4 spaces in each group. |

Chidiebere Nwakali is still eligible for the Nigeria U-20 and the coach who is looking for experience players so as not to make same mistake like Manu Garba did at the last World cup has pencilled him down for na invitation.

Hmm, you are very correct and that's why Nigeria an Academy player deserves to be called to the National team ahead of established premier-league players.
Even Alaba is now enjoying the double standards criteria. Very good for Nigeria Football. # clapping. I know the angle from which you are looking at it. But I have to ignore and reply you with a plain mindset. Though both players are Nigerians but one is more Nigerian the other. Dele Alli was born in England though also eligible to play for Nigeria. While Alex Iwobi was born in Nigeria and also eligible to play for England just also like the case of Victor Moses. Besides, Iwobi's uncle, Austin Okocha played a major role in Alex's decision to play for Nigeria. And again before Oliseh approached him Iwobi had already made himself available for Siasia's U23 Screening late in 2014. Dele Alli I doubt would have made himself available to Siasia even if invited. Dele Alli and Ross Barckley are too English rooted to even consider Nigeria as a choice of Nationality. |
